After a week long hiatus, we are back with the ROH Recap! Two weeks ago, we seen the impressive rookie, ‘Jumpin’ Jamilia Craft, take her mentor, Daizee Haze, to the limit. This week she faces a bigger (literally and figuretively) task, having to grapple with one of the strongest women in the business, Sara Del Rey.

The bell rings as Jamilia proceeds with the code of honor, extending her hand to Sara, but instead gets a huge boot upside her head. Sara takes advantage of a dazed Jamilia by hooking her from behind and delivering a belly to back suplex, keeping her fingers locked for the pin. Is the match over already? Jamilia doesn’t think so as she rolls her shoulders off the mat before the three count. Sara’s jaw drops in disbelief and her facial expression screams “This b!tch did not just kick out?!”. Sure enough, she says “This bitch?!”. Sorry Sara, but it’s going to take more than that to keep this woman down.

Sara gets up and kicks at Jamilia like she’s dirt on the side of a road. Sara then takes her to the ropes, shoving her head through the middle, and proceeds to choke Jamilia out with the most pressure coming from her legs. While this is happening, Sara and her cronies taunt the crowd.

Sara decides to make her way to the apron and delivers multiple kicks to the chest of Jamilia. Jamilia crumbles to the mat as Sara goes for another quick pin. Jamilia shows she still has some fight left as she kicks out again.

Sara immediately picks her up and delivers a beautiful snap suplex before sitting Jamilia up, trying to rip the mask off of her face. Realising that she is unsuccessful, an angry Sara gives a stiff kick to the back of Jamilia. She sends Jamilia to the turnbuckle following a charge, but charges right into Jamilia’s elbow. Sara tries to give her a right handed punch to the face, but Jamilia comebacks again with a pair a feet to Sara’s face.

Jamilia runs toward Sara and is picked up for what looks to be a sidewalk slam by Sara, but quickly counters it into an inverted DDT. Jamilia tries to get the upset and goes for the pin, but isn’t even close as Sara kicks out after one.

Jamilia tries to continue the momentum and runs to the ropes only to have her momentum stopped by a big boot to the face courtesy of Sara Del Rey. Not wanting to give her another chance to get an upset, Sara picks Jamilia up and delivers a piledriver for the win.

I’m not going to lie. I was immediately dissappointed when I seen the run time for this match, but looking at the line up of the show it is understandable. There were three other matches (one being a streetfight I believe) and not to mention the interview segments in between. That is a lot to squeeze in the span of an hour.

That said, Jamilia got very little offense in, but it is better than nothing which is what I initially thought it was going to be after Sara pinned her at the beginning of the match. As advertised during the match, Sara has a big rematch against Amazing Kong. Kong will definitely be looking for revenge after what happened in their last meeting. It was important for Sara to look strong and focused in this match before this weekend. I think we will be seeing a rematch between Sara and Jamilia in the future where the match will be given more time and Jamilia will be given the chance to display more of her offensive weapons.

  1. Hope to see jamilia craft in tna.

  2. Fun little match. I never payed much attention, but Sara is beautiful!! I really want to see these two square off again and I’m looking forward to see Jamilia get a win someday, she’s pretty good for a newcomer but I really want to see her get some more offense in.

    Great recap Shanti!!

  3. Once upon a time I wanted nothing more than to watching Cheerleader Melissa work in TNA, look what happened!! She got squashed. Her character was ruined to an extent that I wish she’d never went to TNA.

I also wanted to see Sara or MsChif in TNA, now I really don’t want to see that, they’ll get ruined and (insert Carlitos obnoxious accent) that’s not cool.

  4. What is the point of having ROH having women matches on their show if the match is going to be less than 5 minutes? I have always had a problem with this show. Since their is no title or storyline, all of their matches are pointless.

  5. Great write up Shanti!!

Makes sense since she’s facing Kong this Saturday to look strong, and Jamilla’s still a rookie in ROH so it was easy to see Sara was going to get the win. And their matches aren’t pointless, ROH and SHIMMER are sister promotions. You have Women of Honor matches to get fans interested in SHIMMER.

I SO cannot wait to see Sara vs Daizee Haze Thursday when ROH debutes in Louisville!! A taste of SHIMMER in anticipation of whats to come in September. *happy dance*

  6. Ohiofan1 – I’m just going to paste what my friend JohnHype said:

TNA and WWE have multiple hours to fill every week and millions of dollars to spend, so much they can afford to hire women who aren’t even trained wrestlers. ROH does not, but if you’ll notice there’s several women’s matches on the recent TV shows and they’re doing a storyline with Kong and Del Rey on their live events which is continuing from their big NY show.

If ROH had the time, money, and resources that TNA or WWE did you can bet that you’d be seeing Ayako Hamada more than once a season and that they wouldn’t have someone like Kelly Kelly as the number one contender for a title. However they don’t so enjoy their recent focus on the women and be excited for the all women offerings by ROH’s sister promotion, SHIMMER Women Athletes, which has recently released vol. 29 and will be putting out vol. 30 soon.

  7. To be quite honest, it’s not like the diva matches are that longer, not to mention the inferior talent (no current WWE Diva could even be considered as good as a wrestler as Del Rey, maybe just Natalya, Beth or Gail) and it’s not like the Divas Belt can be taken seriously, it’s basically like there was no belt at all, the champion is random most of the times (Eve? Really?!), the feuds are stale, thus making the “storylines” terrible or non-existant.

ROH as a WRESTLING show is better than WWE easily and it’s not even possibly compared to TNA. I do enjoy watching WWE just a bit more, but only because I’ve been following it for years now, (two years to be exact) and it’s almost like an addiction or obligation, no matter how terrible it is, I’ll keep watching. But, like many people in here, I really don’t care/dislike the men division in WWE nor TNA, while I actually enjoy ROHs male matches, they’re amazing showings of athleticism.

  8. ROH ratings are not that high because of the network their on HDnet viewership avg 60,000 so in retrospect ROH is rank 4th behind wwe tna and and i hate to say it LuchaLIbreUSA i have to say is also back by a corperation ROH has to find a corperate sponser and better MGT

  9. @Shanti I think I gave kudos to that comment the first time around! Kudos again!!! Anyhoo Always a pleasure to see Del Rey especially when she’s accompanied by Chris Hero and Claudio but mainly Hero! I love the experience Jamilia’s gaining, I think learning from veterans will make her stand out in the long run. Nice little match and pleasant write up Shanti!

  10. wasn’t bad for a 3 minute match i guess, not much offense from Jamilia craft tho

  11. @ohiofan1

Well they don’t really have a full-blown womens division, add that to what Shanti said about time restrictions.

The match was…quick lol But full of action, Del Rey was a bitch for 3:36 mins haha loved the opening sequence.

  12. OMFG, that was awesome. Sara Del Rey is the best wrestler in the world. I can’t think of anyone right now putting on better matches. That was just 3 minutes? Couldn’t tell, because it was constant, entertaining kickassery.

Craft will have her day, but right now it’s the Queen of Wrestling’s Ring.

@Shanti: I’ll get that guide finished so you can just link people, haha :)

  13. Pretty good for a 3 minute match. I still have no clue what Sara’s going for with those painted eyebrows. lol

  14. It’s a shame that Sara del Rey jobbed to anglina love at the tna house show few days ago.
