Very disappointing RAW for the Divas once again. First up is the actual match itself.
Eve vs Maryse – What bothers me about this match was not the actual wrestling, it was just how it was setup. Usually Justin says the following is a number one contenders match, and etc. But they didn’t bother to even do that. It just goes to show how much thought goes into the Divas Division. I like Eve, she’s improving, but she’s going to be over pushed and that’s a problem. Just like with Michelle, they’re going to get annoyed of Eve after a while. I don’t see the dilemma with Gail not being able to get any title opportunity, she’s a great wrestler, it’s a perfect opening spot to give Gail a spot to shine and get over with the crowd and they keep blowing it. The problem with the ending is that it was so confusing and I literally stared at my TV for a good minute thinking “What the heck?” and I still think the same way.
I’m just so mad that the creative can’t put out a battle royal, fatal four way, triple threat, a one on one match, I mean come on! It’s like they have something against Gail. It’s just so frustrating to watch RAW and have a little hope and then it fails once again.
The WWE has the opportunity to make the divas division great, the problem? Hmm… The fact that they don’t care! I always like to give each week a new chance, but it’s like I’m watching RAW on repeat.
And just so everyone knows, there is no Superstars match this week to make up for and on Wrestling News World there is a premium content of Backstage Reaction to Alicia vs Eve. If anyone buys premium and could share it, that would be great as maybe it explains what’s going on.
I’m just so over this BS that RAW keeps giving us. Please WWE do something!

I liked Jennifer’s idea but why does Rosa have to be fired?? We havn’t even seen her do jumping jacks or yoga yet!! :P
i didnt enjoy the match and imo Eve is just another Kelly Kelly because while on Raw K2 showed no emotiom but moved to smackdown and has emotiom and it is like Eve had emotion while on smackdown but know has no emotiom.
Like you were all having a creative voice i would have jillian win a number 1′s contenders match next week and have her pin the bellas for it so it closes that storyline then fued with alicia but have jillian as a face then let jillian win the match but after the match out comes melina to attack jillian about being not a good friend or something and start that fued again that is wat i would do.
Good show tonight guys! I like the “creative team” game. But don’t make fun of the work Stephanie McMahon and Triple H’s daughters do on the writing team. With their mother soon to be out for maternity leave, they are just trying to pick up the slack. :-P
But here is my fantasy booking. It goes a bit beyond Summerslam.
You know, if they manage to announce who the mysterious GM of Raw is, Teddy could just buy Maryse a place in the Diva’s match (that could take place at Summerslam). Alicia sneaks a win out by rolling up Maryse after Maryse takes out Eve. Alicia moves on to other challengers.
Meanwhile Teddy and Maryse have also managed to pay the Nexus to really work over Morrison in that match. Melina finds out about because she is around the corner when Nexus demands the rest of their payment from Teddy. She goes all crazy on them and Morrison comes out of the trainers’ office all bandaged up and hears Melina screaming about them setting up Johnny. And viola, a mixed tag feud is born. Throw in the US title and the Divas title from time to time when necessary.
Meanwhile Jillian gets sent to SD! as a face, teams up with the Blondetourage/Children of the Corn (making it a trio) and feuds with Laycool who are forced because of numbers to become LayRoCool with Rosa.
The Bellas split up. Brie stays face and Nikki goes heel (maybe she gets tired of protecting her sister). Tamina and Nikki become friends, so Brie and her new BFF Eve team up to take it to them.
The Hart Dynasty feuds with the Straight Edge Society for a while on SD! (since they can go to both shows) and Natalya periodically jumps into Divas’ title competition as well.
Ok so everyone is in agreement that Alicia needs a new challenger. A fresh feud for the diva’s title. But why on earth would anyone wants to see Maryse near that championship? She shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near it atleast until she starts showing some competence in the ring again. Taunting 95% of the time in a match especially a championship match is only gonna strengthen the notion that the divas are nothing but models playing dress up games. We all want a competitive division yet some will settle for an Alicia/Maryse feud.?.?. Somebody scratch my head while I strangle the unknown.
Since the roster is really thin right now, and the E is too stubborn to start a heel/heel or a face/face feud for the ladies. Gail Kim is the only other choice for Alicia. A triple threat for the #1 contender between Gail, Eve, and Jillian would have been perfect for the Gail Kim win scenario. I know everyone loves Melina but it really bothers me when a returning superstar can just jump in the fast lane and instantaniously become the number one contender and subsequently win the title. She should should start at the bottom of the heap and work her way up.
Maryse has shown that she can wrestle a normal length divas match while she was on Smackdown. And tonight she managed to do some wrestling (mostly striking, but she wasn’t taunting) without even hitting her signature spots (granted she only has like four). However, since F4W they have teased that a showdown of some sort was due for Alicia and Maryse.
This was my favorite post raw show ever. I couldn’t quit laughing from start to finish, especially at those opening greetings XD The creative game was a great idea, and each suggestion was something I’d never thought of but would rather see than what we get right now (minus those firings >:[ ) I love the idea of Eve going psycho and just beating everyone up that’s in her way, but sadly WWE makes her act so happy all the time >_> Great show & I like hearing new voices on different shows lately, with Eric joining the Post PPV & Raw. You’re going a great job hosting Cryssi and this was no doubt an excellent audio.
Onto tonights action, I fell asleep before it came on so I had to wait for youtube to see it, though I wasn’t in any type of rush. I can’t believe Alicia wasn’t even on any of the shows tonight, seems weird to me. I kind of wish Eve would have faced Jillian and the Bellas would’ve cost Jillian the match or something (since we need excuses for Jillian to lose now) because wrestling really is not Maryse’s strong suit, especially when it’s a singles match. I don’t know what they’re going to set up, but I hope they don’t bring Maryse back into the title feud, and I like Eve, but I hope she’s done with getting title shots for a bit.
John Morrison is hot, however I was not feeling the look. I don’t know why the WWE are pushing EVE. Just watched on the match in wwe.com
It just looked sloppy.
Oh and David I get Pissed when I run out of milk. LOL
RAW as a whole was embarassing for the Divas. The match was crap, the ending was confusing aswell. I just hope SSlam isn’t going to feature Maryse in the match because she ruins everything. She can’t work anymore and she should be a manager or she should do nothing.
On the Nattie side of things, THD and The Usos seems to end this week on Superstars so hopefully now they can move onto the S.E.S so we can see Serena vs Nattie which would be AMAZING. And Smackdown seems to donate more time to midcard and Diva fueds so hopefully we’d see something great on there.
The Fink’s comments really are just another symptom of the overall problem: not enough investment in making things work. They don’t look at the drawing potential of the women’s division, despite a growing female audience, women bridging the gap for families and children to attend, and a significant online ‘buzz’ presence for even the indies, much less the two major promotions in the US.
I mention the Eve Torres situation because it’s appropriate and very current – the situation has gotten dire as predicted. We all know all of this already, it’s well hashed out, and naturally my only problem with is is WWE wagging the Dog. They do, without a doubt. They do the random title switch with Alicia, let her go a little bit with moveset and attitude, and suddenly the internet becomes Creative’s own echo chamber.
That’s where I think it goes wrong, instead of holding them to a higher standard, we’re attempting to wrap their afterthought booking with a bow and call it Christmas. An Alicia/Eve rematch would feel bad, why? Because of Eve, or because of the booking? Having the face lose clean does this, deflating them unncecessarily. Add to that the lack of any true buildup or progression and then you have this car with one tire dragging down the highway. At the end of the day, it’s why I do attempt to talk about TNA when I can as well, because WWE did take some pages from them as far as popping upward business with the women rather than a side item: THIS was the paradigm shift that everyone interested in seeing some depth and payoff to these divisions. Seeing it fizzle in TNA and subsequently be under-invested, bad injury luck, and difficulties preventing Faceheels from naturally turning Face. That’s the cutting back on Laycool going over so hard, to protect Kelly and eventually Beth – simply business and exactly what I was wondering aloud about on time. Hayes gave the answer that week, making the right move to protect a more logical flow there. The PPV match just let it down when it arguably had more legit buildup than Alicia/Eve.
Looking at SmackDown, RAW and the TNA Knockouts, there is chaos and pulling back all around, reverting to repetition and crash-bang time windows, settling for average and/or cheesy, all of it. A massive Creative brainstorming session is exactly what they need: if they could steel themselves up enough to plan things long term (check Maryse/DiBiase for the barometer here), weather the storm of ADD bandwagoners, and develop a few things meaningfully and unpredictably, suddenly they have their new Trish and Lita names. Simply because they were elevated by incredible programs invested in by WWE. Just saying…
One of the main issues with Gail is, as I understand it, she is best at telling stories in the ring. This doesn’t lend itself well to very short time windows, even on PPV. So it’s more about attitude, posture and finger-wagging type stuff. Selling the character in a Hit and Run manner. I don’t make those rules, mind you, it’s just the way it is done.
I beileve that is fundamentally what prevents them from developing talent in these divisions in a meaningful way. It eventually takes either a big Heel run + dues (Melina, Beth, Laycool), or a bighuge angle or two (Trish, Lita, Mickie) to get any traction in your career. As we were talking about in another thread, the Heel run is almost like a rite of passage for the Divas. The backlash on Eve is equal parts baffling, telling and depressing. Not that we’re losing the female Lou Thesz, just it isn’t like Alicia Fox is going for her Squared Circle PHD either if you know what I mean.

I’m a bit shocked.. I know she has like 0 charisma in WWE, but she is an awesome performer and we know what she can be like when used properly . .
In my opinion the so called #1 contenders match should have been a Triple Threat, they’re always exciting!
Can I just say Eric is MY FAVORITE!. So is David. Those two are hilarious together. They should have their own show. Even though I love you all here @ diva-dirt :).
I feel like WWE is going in the direction of a big Melina return for SS. It’s a big return from injury, it’s in her hometown. The setting is right but all they need to do is plant the seeds. If it was up to me I would send Gail to SD! They need her badly over there & RAW is doing nothing for her. If they don’t do that then they should just call AJ Lee up. It’s so stupid! They have all these divas doing nothing on RAW besides hanging around backstage & yet the blue brand is going down the tubes with no creditable face. DO YOUR FREAKIN’ JOB WWE!. Other than that, atlease I have diva-dirt to make me laugh/smile/happy. :D

Normally I agree with you on returning Divas being made to work their way up and back into the title picture, but with Melina’s case I feel as if it’s alright that she is immediately thrust back into the title picture for the Diva’s Championship because she never lost it in a match. She had to relinquish it due to an unfortunate injury and it’s only fair that she’s allowed to try and capture it back.

I wouldn’t consider myself a fan of Gail, no. But at the same time, I don’t consider myself a fan of a lot of people such as Cena, Triple H, Mickie James, ect. But I can acknowledge what they bring to the table and what great superstars/divas they are. Hopefully that makes sense, haha
Alicia v Maryse next please. I know heel vs. heel feuds are uncommon, especially with the divas, but these two will bring the personality and chemistry with each other (just based on the few hints we’ve seen lately of them going at it) that Eve just lacks.
I was at Raw last night Maryse is over as a face with crowd she got cheered alot and Eve got alittle bit of cheers not as much as Maryse. Both Divas got a decent reaction better than you usally here on TV. Eve just really isnt that good i dont why WWE is pushing her I dont know how the match came off on TV but it looked Really good live and Maryse is absolutly Beautiful live.

Yeah, Raw was a big disapointment. Eve just does have the character for get people behind. With Raw lacking faces, why don’t they push Natalya for once?
Eric, I don’t know how can you say that the Marine was successful in the box office. All of the wwe films are bombs in the boxoffice. Why watch a cheap action film when you can see a dumb expensive one by Michael Bay lol.
I liked Cryssi’s idea the best. Melina and JoMo reuniting would be great and Natalya getting a title push would be awesome.
Why does everyone hate R-Truth so much? Like Swagger, I feel like I’m the only that likes this person. He is not a comedic, pointless wrestler, so I say he should stay. Fire all the jobbers and comedic wrestlers with includes Zach Ryder AND Jillian Hall. Oh yeah, I went there, bring on the hate.
Speaking of guest hosts David, on October 18, Bobb’e J. Thompson will be guesting hosting Raw. I don’t care what anyone says, I think he is awesome. I loved him on That’s So Raven and Role Models. I hope you and rest of the staff are easy on him unlike Bob Barker. Bob was my favorite guest host, and nobody on the staff liked him.
Hey, does anyone know when that Beth/Santino/Koslov sitcom is airing? With Santino and Koslov being friends now, eventually Beth has to get involved and like Santino again. But then again its the wwe, where continuity doesn’t exsist lol.
If I’m being honest, I think firing jobbers and comedy characters would be a baaad, baaad idea. They’re there for a reason…there’s a reason why the likes of Val Venis and Scotty 2 Hotty were there for so long, and why we have other jobbers today. They’re skilled reliable wrestlers who may not be suited to a run at the top, but are instrumental in helping younger, greener stars develop as workers and performers. I mean, if we’re thinking divas, Michelle wouldn’t be where she is today had she not worked with the likes of Jillian and Victoria.
And comedy wrestlers are useful too, because they’re pretty much perfect when it comes to providing comic relief and entertainment value at live shows. Jillian and Santino are great at what they do…it’s obvious based on the reactions they get when they do their skits.
Great show guys…one of the best yet.

Yeah Frank I was wondering about the Beth/Santino/Kozlov sitcom too…seems like they are sitting on this one for a while…not sure what is up. Doesn’t seem like WWE.com is doing as many original shows either now that Santino’s Casa and the Dirt Sheet are gone. :-(

well hey thank of it like this lets say if they do an all diva episode with Gail and Alicia as a main event maybe the DD reader including myself would go but not the majority of the WWE audience, market them all u want brand them all u want they still wouldn’t sell that many tickets. maybe a small percent but not many cause Cena wasn’t on bill and or lets Rey Mysterio wasn’t on they bill i would go see that but the population that makes up the wwe audience wouldn’t.
I refuse to believe that anyone came to WWE from 2008-2010 to see someone other than Katie Lea.

@Cyndi I agree totally with what you are saying, but I dont see how flushed out Diva storylines correlates to taking away time from the guys who sell tickets. I believe in the post show, we noted the Kozlov/Regal/Santino/Ryder match was a waste of time. Nobody is buying tickets to see Vladdy Vlad.
im sure your right Eric what im was going on is people saying that Cena get’s to many segments where it takes from the Diva’s and i was just pointing out when it comes to Cena there’s no way WWE is going to put a Diva over Cena.

Maybe the women would postitively affect ticket sales and ratings if they were actually given time to show what they can do. People aren’t going to particularly want to watch at the minute, but that’s not really their fault.

Cyndi: Aside from the banter about Cena’s (God awful) films, I don’t think any of us were debating the issue of who sells more tickets/merch/whatever. Yes, we know, women’s wrestling in the WWE is marginalized and no one comes to see them, etc. etc. But what’s wrong with wanting things to be better than they are now? What’s wrong with thinking up different storylines and things that would make the women bigger draws and stars? People who watch women’s wrestling frequent this site & want to see changes. There’s nothing wrong with talking about that. Honestly, the only reason some people DO watch the ‘E anymore is for the women – I’m one of them.
There’s nothing wrong with dreaming big and hoping for changes. It shows we care about the women who bust their asses trying to put on a show for the fans and it shows we care about the product overall. The day we stop talking about it and caring about it is the day the site probably gets shut down and we all give up.
OH i wasn’t saying that theirs anything wrong with dreaming big for the Diva’s cause i do long like most for the a new era where they least get to show what they can show under the time that the E would allow im just saying i don’t think they would cut a Cena segment for it lol if it came down to it they probably cut a diva’s segment to fit Cena I’m with im tired of Cena and Miz and do think it’s un-fair that they only focus on Eve as a Contender their are other girls but i happy that someone like an Eve is on the E mind.

I think Raw needs a good storyline for the divas. I haven’t seen a story line with the divas in forever. Also they need to put some new faces on T.V. I like maryse and Eve as much as anyone else does, but seeing them every week gets kind of annoying. What’s the point of signing top notch wrestlers Jillian/Nattie/Sereana/Gail if your just going to have them put on the shelf . Like do some of these women get signed just for bragging rights?
