SHIMMER star MsChif‘s two and a half year reign as NWA World Women’s Champion came to an end last night as she was defeated for the belt by Tasha Simone. Read the press release below:

On July 24th in Lebanon, TN, MsChif defended her title against Tasha Simone. These two women battled all over the NWA Top Rope arena and then some, even going outside in the parking lot in a No Time Limit, No Disqualification match for the NWA Women’s World Championship.

As these two are no strangers to one another, a packed house of 225 people watched for 32:09 as these women brutalized one another back and forth. From being tossed down a flight of stairs to having their head busted open on a car hood nothing seemed to be out of reach for either competitor. Both women put everything they had into this match and then some.

In the end, these two fought throughout the arena and even through the concession stand, and finally back to the ring when MsChif sprayed green mist into Tasha Simone’s eyes, and everyone thought it was over. MsChif immediately ran for water at the concession only to surprise everyone when she washed Tasha’s eyes out. As the fans watched this happen you could hear a lot of fans talking wondering what MsChif was doing. As soon as the mist was removed, MsChif continued to brutalize Tasha, and finally MsChif gave Tasha one opportunity she will probably regret as Tasha dropped MsChif face first to the mat, and we saw a three count and a NEW NWA Ladies World Champion crowned.

MsChif had held the belt over 800 days, after becoming champion in April 2008.

  1. wow that looks like one hell of a match

  2. it looks like they are trying to hard

  3. Didn’t like the look of that at all. The blood looked awful and the moves looked terribly sloppy, especially the Glam (more like Sham) Slam finisher at the end. Everything just looked sloppy and the girl who won looked horrific.

  4. Who’s that bitch and why does she win over MsChif, tbh?

  5. I wouldn’t call anyone a bitch just yet…

I’m not sure who’s who but the match had its moments. Sure it felt somewhat contrived and they got a little sloppy here and there but hey, its the indies. You don’t make a whole lot of money and most independent wrestlers don’t have health insurance so I can understand why they were being extra careful. Actually, I would call them stupid if they wouldn’t have taken care of each other. I like the girl with the green hair. I’m not sure if one of them did a blade job or if the blood was fake, but that was a nice touch there. It made it all the more dramatic.

One thing I think they could have done without was the post match hugging. I realize its a show of respect for your opponent and whatnot, but I feel it cheapens the new Champ’s victory. It makes it just a little less special. They go at it for 30 plus minutes and its no holds barred and bloody; and they seal it with a hug?? This is wrestling!! Let the champion have her moment alone while they loser sells the beating flat on the mat. Just my opinion but all in all, it was good.

  6. Congrats to Tasha Simone…

She’s a 20 year veteran wrestler and trainer. She trained new WWE Diva-to-be Su Yung and had a nice little feud with her as she broke into the business. Tasha may not be the greatest wrestler we’ve seen but is a very deserving champ. Plus, having had the chance to exchange with her online, she is a very nice and respectable woman who many young wrestlers should look up to.

She may not be WWE-type, but that doesn’t make her horrific! CONGRATS once again.

  7. was that supposed to be a glamslam or what ever the chick calls it it was ugly but mschif did have a nice run with the title guess it was someone else’s chance in nwa

  8. I didnt even know Tasha Simone was still wrestling. I vaguely remember her from the mid-90s.

  9. Whoa. Tasha Simone. That’s a name I haven’t heard for a while. I wasn’t aware that she was still wrestling. Congrats to her though.

  10. WOW. This looks like a fantastic, brutal matchup! Kudos to MsChif for showing great sportsmanship by washing Tasha’s eyes out after the mist, and hugging her at the end. Sad to see MsChif’s reign end, especially considering she also lost the SHIMMER title in April, but looks like Tasha is a worthy champion. Congrats to her! Can’t wait to find/see the whole match.

  11. @Jennifer: Sportmanship is all well and good but why do the mist in the first place if you aren’t going to capitalize on it? Weird spot in the match for me.

  12. Let’s be honest, nothing about that clip was fantastic. Everything was shaky and sloppy. You’d think they’d pick the best moments of that match to use as a clip. I think it’s time for MsChif to step on a much bigger stage with a much wider audience. Even just a short stint from the big “leagues”, she deserves more attention/recognition.

  13. Mojo: That was a 2 minute clip from a 30+ minute match. A match can’t be judged by that, but there were some great spots in it. MsChif has said several times she does not want to join the WWE or TNA, she’s happy in the indies and with her regular job. Which, I respect that, because if she joined either one they’d want to rip her character apart. I’d hate to see that happen.

  14. Gotta agree with mojodoom; maybe the match was good, but that was not a good video to promote it. The majority of the moves performed in the video looked shaky and far too choreographed. I wouldn’t have expected that from MsChif; generally considered to be one of the best women’s wrestlers in the business today. I think that Jennifer’s right in that you can’t judge a 30+ minute match based on a 2-3 minute video, but the purpose of these videos is to build hype to make more people want to see the match. This video didn’t do that for me. It looks more like a training video than a match between two veteran’s for a title that’s been held for over 2 years (a rareity in today’s wrestling climate!). It was a nice double handed chokeslam though.

  15. Wow… that sucked..

  16. I’m convinced you’re comparing this to the crispness of “divas” matches in the video game series “Smackdown vs Raw” as opposed to the actual matches, but I digress.

It’s nice to discover “new” women wrestler’s, especially one that can hang with MsChif for half an hour (and will bleed to do it)! She reminds me of Tilda Swinton, which is never a bad thing.

  17. Tasha reminds me of the voodoo queen roxxi.
