This week on Superstars, we get a rematch (of sorts) as one half of the so-called Blondetourage Kelly Kelly faces off against one half of Lay-Cool, Michelle McCool. Kelly has one win over Michelle on the books. Can lightning strike twice? Watch below…

Out first are the self-proclaimed co-Women’s Champions, Layla and Michelle – and this time they have Kaval with them! He looks thrilled to be carrying both halves of the Women’s belt as well as their new Flawless hoodies. (Note to WWE Shop: When are you people going to start producing Flawless hoodies? I know I’m not the only one who wants one!) Michelle’s opted to go with her sea green ring attire and her hair looks lovely as well. Layla’s looking beautiful in a black one-strap dress that has a bit of color at the top. And Kaval looks tough and oh-so-teddy bear cute in his green ring gear. “Holla!” That breathy sound signals the entrance of Kelly Kelly who’s decked out in a very cute pink attire that has shorts and a bikini top, but the top looks a bit more functional. Small changes like this don’t go unnoticed, and in this case it makes her look more professional. The bell rings and off we go!

The two lock up in a collar and elbow tieup which Michelle quickly turns into a fireman’s carry, going into a cover. Two count only and Michelle grabs Kelly’s arm, pulling her up into an armbar. Surprising me, Michelle, and the crowd, however, Kelly actually counters with what looks like a flying snapmare that takes Michelle over Kelly’s shoulders onto her butt! Score one for Kelly! Michelle’s back up but K2 is ready for her, getting in a nice drop toe hold followed up with a drop kick! Dazed, the co-Women’s Champion gets back to her feet but Kelly grabs her hair and slams her back-first onto the mat again! She follows up by SLAMING Michelle’s head face first into the mat several times before being pulled off by the referee! I am simply LOVING this fire and aggression from Kelly!

Kelly runs as Michelle, trying for a knee strike but Michelle moves, allowing her opponent to slam into the corner. Michelle takes Kelly’s left arm and works it over, going back to the armbar. Kelly tries for another snapmare counter but as she jumps up, Michelle simply slams her onto the mat in her own counter! The crowd groans in sympathy as Michelle lays in with kicks to Kelly’s back and left shoulder. Grabbing the left arm again, she manuvers poor Kelly more towards the ropes (where Layla and Kaval are patrolling) and continues to work over the arm, using the ropes as leverage. On the outside, Layla continues to taunt “Smelly Kelly”, whereas Kaval looks impressed with the viciousness of Michelle’s offense. He encourages her to keep up the attack.

Michelle lifts Kelly up, continuing to keep a hold on the left arm, going back to the armbar. She lifts Kelly up but somehow K2 pushes Michelle back, landing on top in a pinning attempt! A nice reversal but it only gets her two. Both are back on their feet, Kelly running at Michelle but a shoulder block sends K2 down again. Michelle has a very evil look on her face and, planting one hand on the mat and the other on Kelly’s face, she does one push up, then switches hands for another! Layla’s estatic, jumping around on the outside like a demented jack rabbit; Kaval looks first stunned then impressed…then, as Layla jumps around, slightly freaked out at her (over)reaction. Meanwhile, Michelle basks in her own awesomeness before going for a cover. Somehow Kelly has the audacity to kick out at two!

Keeping K2 grounded, Michelle doggedly works on the left arm and wrist, methodically twisting each in an attempt to get Kelly to tap out. To her credit, Kelly doesn’t, instead trying to kick her knee into Michelle’s back but with little success. Finally Michelle simply SLAMS Kelly’s hand onto the mat! She yells in pain, rolling away from Michelle, clutching her hand – that looked painful as hell! Michelle follows up with a kick but the referee sends her back, asking Kelly if she wants to give up. Again, to her credit, she refuses, wanting to continue the match as she leans against the ropes, trying to rally her strength. Michelle studies her from the other side of the ring. Kelly makes it to her feet by using the ropes, but Michelle’s there, landing a high solid kick to her left shoulder, sending Kelly down to the mat once more. Hauling her up into the corner, Michelle continues to work over Kelly’s shoulder and arm. The referee separates her with a five count but as Michelle comes back in towards Kelly, K2 lands a stiff kick to Michelle’s face! She follows through with a Lou Thesz press, slamming Michelle’s head into the mat!

The two separate and get back to their feet, but Kelly gets two semi-leaping clotheslines on Michelle, followed by a kick to her mid-section. The crowd’s coming alive, cheering Kelly on. She goes to whip Michelle into the ropes, but Michelle reverses and on the return, Kelly hits a headscissors takedown! Michelle stumbles to her feet in the corner while Kelly waits. She charges but McCool moves, allowing K2 to go front-first into the corner.  Both women pause for a moment to catch their breath. Michelle grabs Kelly’s hair but Kelly jams her hip into Michelle’s midsection, then climbs up onto the turnbuckle and onto Michelle’s shoulders. It looks like she’s going for a roll up pin but instead Michelle unhooks Kelly’s legs, slamming her stomach first into the mat! As Kelly clutches her stomach in pain, the camera shows Michelle, creeping towards her on all fours ala Randy Orton-style. The look on her face is simultanously creepy and rather arousing – like a shark smelling blood in the water. When Kelly gets to her knees, Michelle strikes, lifting her up and putting her into position. One vicious Faithbreaker and that’s all she wrote. Michelle McCool gets the pin in a hard fought matchup against Kelly Kelly. Layla and Kaval hurry into the ring, both helping Michelle to her feet and raising her hand in victory.

This match up was in many ways just as good and possibly even better than last week’s match up that had Tiffany taking on Layla. Why better? Because Kelly performed as Flawlessly as her opponent and she showed a TON of aggression and fire. We’ve seen hints of this before but it’s only been since her move to Smackdown that Kelly has come into her own, showing she’s capable of more than just smiles and waves. Her snapmare counter at the start was impressive as was her drop toe hold and even her usual moves were infused with a passion that made me believe she was really out to pummel Michelle. Passion was something discussed on Diva Dirt Live Wednesday – I think we’re starting to see that from Kelly Kelly, or something close to it at any rate. As for Michelle, the comparisons to Randy Orton are startling but pretty spot on. She’s a predator, taking her time, taking advantage of her opponent’s weaknesses, waiting for just the right moment to strike. She looks and plays the part to a T. Well done ladies, you both continue to put on one hell of a show!

  1. Good match! I really liked the jumping snapmare move Kelly is doing she improves every week and I hope she still gets a shot at the title. Michelle was impressive as always and I LOVE her green attire. And Layla was cute wish we could see more Rosa though. Overall great show this week!

  2. I really liked this match, it was nice to see some more aggression from Kelly that we haven’t seen before. I think Kelly is benefiting from working with Michelle kinda like how Maria did when they had matches. I think this is the best Kelly has looked so far. Was also nice to hear the crowd really get involved for once.

  3. Damn! did you see what Michelle McCool did with the women’s title at 1:04?! The Beautiful People have been doing that with their titles for months!!

  4. “Michelle has a very evil look on her face and, planting one hand on the mat and the other on Kelly’s face, she does one push up, then switches hands for another!” Ok, I thought that was funny :D

As far as the match goes, it was alright, but I think this falls flat compared to the Layla/Tiffany match. While Michelle showed of alot of agression in this match, I just couldn’t buy Kelly Kelly at all. Sorry, but screaming and pulling hair isn’t really showing agression imo. That’s like saying that a diva is agressive for rolling around fighting another diva in a catfight. I want to again stress the fact that I don’t think this was a bad match. I just don’t see the passion in Kelly Kelly. I didn’t find this match any different from any other match of hers. The reason why I like Tiffany alot more is because she is able to show emotion in the ring. Tiffany doesn’t scream or hair pull. Plus her moves aren’t so flashy. It’s not a hurricana or backfips every single move.

I do agree however with Michelle being like Randy Orton. I totally see that comparison.

Here’s hoping Tiffany doesn’t get fired for the Hotel Incident :(

  5. Maybe not better than last week’s match, but it was just as good as it. Last week’s match saw better offence from the Face and this week’s match saw better offence from the heel.

There were some nice spots in the match (including when Kelly’s arm was jammed between her back and the canvas) but I would have liked to have seen them utilise Layla a bit more, like when Tiffany attacked Michelle last week. As Kaval was there, it would have been interesting at his reacton at Layla being beat-up and they could have teased their relationship, etc; but it seems that Diva-Dirt’s Eric got his way haha and Kaval and Layla’s love wasn’t teased at all!

  6. My girl done good Just wish she could of won. I love my girl so Im going to give her some constructive crictism(I think thats what I mean) To make her better, She needs to work on her dropkicks but other than that She done really good.

  7. Flawless review Jennifer!! Great match by both girls. I loved when Michelle took her time setting up for the Faithbreaker. Like you said very Randy Orton like.

  8. I hate that Layla was too noisy outside…. She over does her character and it’s annoying..

Kelly has improved a lot… I am really really happy for her… but I can’t stand her screaming in the ring… like Layla and Michelle they also scream in the ring… but with Kelly… she screams way too much… like I bet her throat is aching from screaming too much

    Michelle was ok…

    Match was good

  9. “Damn! did you see what Michelle McCool did with the women’s title at 1:04?! The Beautiful People have been doing that with their titles for months!!”

lol, layla’s been doing it too since the time she said she doesn’t watch tna ;)

great match. layla’s ringside presence was too distracting, though. michelle takes the focus away during layla’s matches, too (except with interference).. it’s as if they don’t want the other member of lay-cool getting more screen time ?

  10. An okay match! But why do they always bring up Trish Stratus in McCool’s matches? It seems like that the commentary is the same every week.

  11. “with Kelly… she screams way too much… like I bet her throat is aching from screaming too much”

ya know, i agree. like, for instance, i love when melina and velvet scream as they sound aggressive. kelly when she screams just sounds in pain. and it makes me sadface like she’s a poor little puppy getting kicked by an unruly child. :(

  12. This was a good match, but i guess Michelle and Layla are taking turns beating tiffany and kelly. But with tiffany buried and suspended and kelly kelly beaten by both members of Laycool, whats going to happen. Are they going to target rosa next, i guess they can squeeze out about months worth of matches with that fued. But i don’t know.

  13. Im glad this wasnt on Smackdown as it would have been a half as good 2 1/2 minute match. It was a very good match but what confused me was the absence of Tiffany. I know she was suspended but this match was taped 3 days ago. Shouldnt Kellys Partner be at ringside with her?

  14. kelly must have been watching some bella twin matches since she did their jumping snapmare

  15. Kelly was impressive, and Michelle was good, like always.

I hope Kelly doesn’t keep screaming like that though. It works for Melina, because it’s been part of her character since 2005/6 and she’s got the whole hellcat/latina thing going on, but with Kelly? Eh. She usually not as bad though.

    Still, good match.

  16. i really liked this match. i love the way michelle was stalking kelly in the ring, i definitely see the randy orton comparison. I might be alone in this but i like the way Layla was valeting as well (and michelle last week). Their characters are supposed to be very childish and over the top so the jumping around and shouting makes perfect sense!

  17. @Alex: That move’s been used for decades, especially in women’s wrestling.

  18. I like McCool. I really do, but girl needs to lose a match or two. I can’t even remember the last time she lost a match. Hell Alicia lost cleanly and she is the official diva’s champ and not a “co-champ”. Having said that, IMO Michelle next to Gail is the most consistent performer in the division. I think she has surpassed some of the trained wrestlers when it comes to actually mixing it up in the ring.

  19. mccool was flawless…she played the heel role from A to Z
as for kelly she was much better than usual but really…nothing to compare with tiffany’s matches

  20. I loved the match. I always am a fan of Michelle’s work cause she to me is almost perfect in the ring. She works well with everyone it seems and makes them look good. Kelly Kelly was alright here. I think she has gotten better on Smackdown so the move did wonders for wrestling wise. My only complaint I have about Kelly is her weak looking kicks and clotheslines. They could be better. The match was awesome though. Plus we got to see Kaval’s cute little face.

  21. i can’t deny mccool’s obvious in-ring talent, but i still can’t seem to “connect” with her. i really think that her losing a bunch of matches would help her out more with her likeability. for me, at least.

  22. All I know is I’m BORED with this.. dont get me wrong I dont MIND mcool, but for the time being.. she’s boring to me. I was hoping during the draft she would’ve went to raw, but of course not, I just would like to see a change and no more laycool.. its kinda stale and none of what they do is funny to me its cheesy and makes me feel embarassed for them having roles and lines that a 16 year old girl would say in high school.. its just not real enough for me is all I guess..

  23. great match but it wasnt as good as layla vs tiffany and chavo vs christ masters should have been the main event not kelly kelly vs michele mccruel

  24. was this the main event ot SS ?

  25. You know what would make summer slam kick ass? If Kelly comes out in her regular way but with a microphone and says”hey, Laycool since Tiffany can’t make the show I have a suprised oppenent for you”. Out comes Rosa and she comes out and waves at Aj lee to come out and they make their entrance to the ring. Laycool can make jokes about her as she comes to the ring. Aj hits a double sliced bread on Laycool with distraction from Rosa and help from Kelly. Then she pins Layla for the three count.

About the match it was OK. It just looked as if both girls were being too careful, but that’s understandable.

  26. Decent enough match,
Nice to see Michelle acting fierce again! Michelle need’s to ditch Layla then have a one on one feud with AJ Lee! i think it would be simiar to the Michelle/Melina feud which was good! but she doesnt need Layla screaming at the side of the ring! geezz

  27. One of the best matches Kelly has ever put on in my opinion.. Michelle was flawless as usual! Love how reliable she is in the ring.

  28. 3:24 kaval put his hand to lays waist lol, mccools kicks where weak but its kelly so shes going to be..the match was kinda slow too, kellys selling needs work with the screaming & rolling around, layla looked amazing & shes mccools charisma, this is why the crowd doesnt react to michelle shes booked as a dominant diva yet doesnt have the look for it,beth, nattie & serena look more like divas who are powerful & dominant plus michelle hardly ever loses…kellys clotheslines looked better here then they have before but her dropkicks need alot of work she cant hit them right… the title bit at the end laylas mistake was hilaro LMAO.

  29. Layla looked FLAWLESS as always!
(That girl needs to win Rear Of The Year… SERIOUSLY!!!)

I love how Michelle stalks her prey and follows her downed opponent, she reminds me of a vicious hell cat (torturing and playing with her food before devouring it) The 2nd “failed” snapmare from K2, in which Michelle slammed her looked hard as hell and when she kicked her in the back (ouch much?) Kelly Kelly put on a great show too, I am loving her confidence (and I won’t lie it was nice to see the whirly bird headscissors again haha) But oh what a beautiful FaithBreaker for the win! XD

  30. The match was impressive especially on Michelle’s end. Say what you want but homegirl can wrestle. And lol at around 4.26 where Layla starts freaking out and dancing; Kaval’s face was priceless as he watched her.
