Will Melina complete her comeback trail by winning the Divas Championship before her hometown in Los Angeles? She faces Alicia Fox tonight at SummerSlam. Our predictions below…
Cryssi: It seems surreal to me that this match is actually taking place this Sunday. Melina has been back on television for two weeks now and she’s already earned a championship match. Unreal. To me, this just goes to show how little thought and effort goes into the Diva’s division these days. I understand that my girl never officially lost the title. And maybe that has something to do with why she is getting a chance to face Alicia tonight. What needs to happen is Alicia retains in some ridiculous fashion and then a feud for Night of Champions should start heating up. Let these two girls have a proper rivalry and give us all a chance to watch them grow together and become comfortable in the ring with one another. I’ve NEVER gone against Melina, even in matches I knew she would lose, but tonight I’m going with Alicia Fox to retain. I doubt it happens, and my heart tells me it won’t. But stranger things have happened in World Wrestling Entertainment. They did give Jack Swagger a World Championship reign after all.
David: Years from now when I look back at SummerSlam 2010 I will remember this match differently. I will remember it as a quality Divas Title match and forget that it was booked too quickly and that it moved some deserving talent to the sidelines. Melina’s return should have been handled much differently, to show her chasing Alicia and to build great anticipation for an eventual showdown. (I would have booked it for Survivor Series in the fall.) The WWE, however, pushed Melina right over Eve, Maryse, and Natalya and gave her this high profile title match only a few weeks after her return. To that end, I think Melina is a safe bet to defeat Alicia Sunday and will leave her hometown as the new Divas Champion.
Erin: It’s wayyyy too soon for Melina to win the gold, especially given how she already defeated Alicia on Raw. Despite the WWE’s tendency to screw over Alicia mid-push, I really feel that they’re going to stretch her title reign a bit longer, if only to make for a more interesting build up to Melina’s eventual win. It would seriously shortchange this feud if they were to switch the title too soon, because I think babyface Melina is best suited at the moment to chase the title, not hold it. Alicia Fox wins and retain the title.
Jennifer: It’s no secret Melina is the go-to girl for WWE’s Raw division. Even though Alicia has shined as Divas Champ, it’s obvious what’s going to happen at SummerSlam. Returning two weeks ago, getting a non-title win over Alicia and as a result earning a title shot? All signs point to Melina emerging as a two-time Divas Champion on Sunday. However, I myself want Alicia to somehow pull out a win by any means necessary. It’d be more fun to see Melina chase the title, getting wins over other women in the process and amping up the feud before finally coming out the victor. Melina wins.
Melanie: I think it’s too soon for Melina to win the belt and like everyone else has said, I’d like to see a legitimate feud between her and Alicia before a title switch happens. This could be the start of an exciting series of matches between the pair — I’d have them compete here, then at Night of Champions next month and maybe even a TV match in between. As for tonight, I think Alicia retains.
Steven: I’m still pretty against this match taking place at Summerslam. A title match needs time to build up and give fans a reason to care about who leaves the ring as champion. If the past is any indication, WWE will most likely put the back on Melina this Sunday, which would be a shame. However, I’d like to see Alicia sneak out the win at Summerslam and feud with Melina for the next month or so, until the next PPV. Also, I think it’s way too early to pull the plug on Alicia’s reign. Despite how unlikely it seems, my vote goes to Alicia Fox leaving Summerslam as champion.

i think they will keep fued on till night of champions but then again who is going to be in the smackdown women title match i mean they dont have long so if there bringing some1 new in then they should do it soon as they need time to improve who ever is going to smackdown aj lee……..
i think alicia will DQ because if alicia gets a clean win then thats just dull and if alicia wins by dq then she can get clean win at night of champions or jillian may get involved as she has been getting involved for the past few weeks (fingers crossed) because ive red somewhere that they are trying to get melina or maryse to be divas champion so they can fued in mixed tag matches with john and ted so that makes me think that melina may win 2nite
or eve will interfere as i feel she is turning heel

I’m hoping Gail Kim interferes and take her rightful place in a secondary feud with Melina…. I think you should Have Kim vs. Melina outside the title picture first with one getting the upper hand in a classic FEUD rival…. hell, make it a Best of 5 series…… in the mean time Establish Alicia by in-sighting a triangle feud between her Jillian and Eve. As a heel Alicia need to get in a good matches with Natalya, Maryse, and Tamina in which she finds a way to retain or win… UNTIL THE FANS RESENT ALICIA FOR HAVIN THE TITLE she hasn’t paid off her dividends and roughly by survivor series you can throw her to the lion with Melina vs. Gail Kim vs. Natalya vs. EVE vs. Maryse (or Jillian) vs. ????????? (surprise) vs. Alicia Fox in 6 woman Elimination Battle Royal where anyone could make themselves a star (Over the TOP rope for the TITLE, would be lame) following that plan would be awesome….
SO A.FOX for the RETAIN-MENT!!!!! ( and before the year is up can we get her back as a face…… watch her first match on ECW with Natalya sick!!!!!)

I want Melina to be champion but not so soon. Alicia should win and build a few to Night of Champions with Melina and then maybe she can win it but not now. Or, maybe change the match to a random tag match like they did to Gail and Maryse at Elimination Chamber..
I want Alicia to win yet I think they are going to give Melina the win in her hometown. Let’s hope they make Alicia overcome the odds though.

Why would Gail or Eve interfere? And, why would Eve turn heel? She’s over with creative and they want Eve to be the top baby face in the future, I doubt they’d turn her heel. If anything, I could see Maryse interfering just because it would actually be, well, in her character you know, with her being a heel and all? Lol. But, I don’t think anyone will interfere. I think it’ll just be a one-on-one match up with Alicia and Melina; It’d be cool to see Alicia pin Melina cleanly, omfgwd I’d mark out! But, I think she’ll win with DQ just so they can drag out this boredom-filled feud even longer. Or, Melina will win – which will really just SUCK and be a slap in the face, the only good (IMO) that could come out of it is that she’d 99.9% most likely go on to face Maryse after/if Alicia invokes her title clause. Eh, Alicia FTW –> Then Alicia vs Maryse/Natalya FTW.

BUt i think alicia has this in the bag and i really hope since they teased eve’s heel switch on RAW she might interfear and attack both alicia and melina leading to a DQ and a triple threat at NOC.
All signs point to Melina taking the gold, although Alicia might not be without complaints of getting ripped off somehow. I don’t think that the WWE brass has the confidence in Melina to pull very much heat without the belt. I see Melina not having a title defense for a least a few weeks following, with storylines actually focusing on a feud.
If I had it my way I would have Alica Fox win with a VERY dirty heel tactic to silence Melina’s hometown crowd. But whatever I wish for in the WWE so very rarely happens, so my prediction tends to be the opposite of what would actually be better for the company and the fans.
