A-List Diva, Melina became Divas Champion just moments ago at SummerSlam, defeating Alicia Fox in her hometown of Los Angeles, California.
However, Melina’s celebration was cut short by SmackDown Divas, Lay-Cool who attacked the new Divas Champ, leaving her unconscious after Michelle hit her with a sick running knee into the announce table.
EDIT: As a result of Melina’s title win, the term ‘Melina’ began trending worldwide on Twitter. Double congrats to Melina!

Also the match was okay i love when alicia threw melina into the pole nice hit, only if she hurt her injured leg again, and i cant believe alicia’s reign was shorter then eve’s thats just BS but she had the 3rd best reign in my opinion.
Wow what a letdown, both the match and result. Its way too soon for Melina to hold the title and the match proved that. Thank god for the LayCool segment for saving that train wreck.

WWE is fake, they dont let alicia show her real skills but be sloppy, you dont have to call her ugly and untalented that is messed up compare to eve, bellas, kelly, rosa and layla. Also melina did awful as well. Do us all a favour? NO half of the diva fans love alicia and they rather have seen her as divas champion then so called melina. Mhm cant believe you havent noticed tht every diva that comes to RAW turns out to be horrible. Eve, Alicia, and bellas for example and reason why tiffany should never get drafted to RAW and kelly is now improving so much more on SD. Also alicia will be in the WWE for a while since she is the future with eve and possibly tiffany.

MAYBE YOU ARE RIGHT… I dont dislike EVE but she is just not developed as a character and it seemed like during and a little before her reign… the WWE was trying to force feed everyone to like her and it didn’t work (in my eyes)… EVE show alot of promise as does Alicia… but neither deserves to be placeholders without sensible storylines… I just feel Alicia was doin a more compelling job and it wouldve paid off in the long run but it seems like pure LAZINESS and MARKNESS (more people know her face so she wins) in the division…
Now that melina is champion we will most likely get her and maryse at NOC which will be awful. If alicia would still be champion then natalya and gail had 25% to be champion but now that is ruined until melina came along. So far TNA and WWE are making bad choices first madison loses the title and now alicia loses the title why both my favorites?

Eve was pushed down our throats because she won ever match she was in, yet she never spoke once, she just came from no where and was winning everything including the title. WWE just wanted us to like her because she was winning and thats all.
I don’t think Alica was pushed down our throats at all. She gained a few title shots but she never won them. She won the title by “chance” and then her personality was able to shine more. I always thought Alica was someone who wasn’t pushed down our throats enough!

I haven’t seen the match, but this does sound pretty disappointing to hear. Glad that Melina is back, but it seems a little soon to throw a title back on her. As for the Lay-Cool attack, maybe they’re building up early for Survivor Series?
For those complaining about Melina, the WWE does this all the time with their main eventers. Undertaker goes on vacation, comes back, has instant title shot and becomes champion. Why is it even a surprise when its done with Melina? This is one of the reasons I can’t stand the WWE. Retuning main eventers never have to go through the ranking to get titles.
As for Alicia, I knew she was just a place holder for the title until Melina returned. That’s the reason Eve lost the title to Alicia. There couldn’t be a face vs face match.
Finally, when it comes to Lay-Cool you could blame Tiffany for this. Instead of there being a SD! Divas tag match we got the Melina beat down. If Michelle does go after Melina’s title and wins it for Lay-Cool to both be champions I’m boycotting the WWE. Instead Lay-Cool should be breaking up and feuding for the Women’s title with Lalya winning.

Maybe that’s the WWE’s strategy to really garner heat for McCool: shove her down the throat of viewers just hard enough that people would generally get annoyed by her presence and they start booing her big time. ;) But seriously… I wouldn’t be surprised if your NOC prediction happens. After all, Layla and McCool are still co-champs.

I get what you mean. In my opinion, however, I think it’s due to two factors: 1. Alicia has been teased to become a champion at least twice, I think, via Mickie and Melina. I really believe that allowed her to gain the sentiment or “sentiment” of some viewers as supposed to Eve who seemed to have just been shoved down everyone quicker than expected given her skills.
2. Alicia, I think, is simply a better wrestler than Eve. Eve is flashier but Alicia is fundamentally better in both character and in-ring work. That alone has given her a better following than Eve. Generally, I think, people just weren’t ready to see Eve as a champ.
Of course, that’s just my opinion.

I was really hoping to come here and read that Alicia Fox retained her title. It’s way to soon for Melina to be champ and I really don’t like the outcome. Alicia was just starting to make something out of her character plus get some mic time and they pull the rug from under her. I don’t like this at all. LayCool being involved sounds nice though.
