A dark match that took place last Tuesday prior to the Impact taping, featuring new Knockout Becky Bayless and Christina Von Eerie has been dubbed ‘the worst dark match in history’, according to ProWrestling.net.

Jason Powell reports that the match which saw Bayless team with Okada against Von Eerie and Shannon Moore was panned by people backstage. He writes:

Most of the blame for the match is directed at Bayless, who missed blind tag attempts three times. It was so comically bad that Moore stopped, pointed at her, and yelled, “I’m begging you to tag him” during the middle of a spot. This led to serious laughter backstage.

Becky was signed to a TNA contract a couple of weeks ago and paired with Rob Eckos as his manager in a Jersey Shore-esque gimmick. Promos began airing last week for ‘Shore’, which I’m assuming is Eckos’ new name in TNA with Becky as ‘Cookie’.

Despite the poor review, I’m going to give Becky the benefit of the doubt. It seems she was signed to be a manager and part of a gimmick rather than to wrestle on a regular basis. She portrayed Brooke Lynn to perfection in Wrestlicious, and seems tailor-made for the role of Cookie.

  1. Wrestling is not Becky’s strong suit. She’s got great character, however. That’s where she shines. But it seems like she was hired to be a manager. I really hope they limit her wrestling to never.

  2. Becky Bayless is not a good wrestler. She never has been. Her strengths lie in valeting and charisma, which she has in spades.

I don’t understand why TNA and WWE force every woman to get into the ring. Some can wrestle, some can’t – but if you can find a spot which will make them marketable and sell tickets or PPV buys, then push them in that direction.

  3. I remeber a tag team match between Rosa Mendes and Layla vs Alicia Fox and Angela where Rosa missed a simlar spot and was Drowned by DD fans. But when Becky does it its alright. Shes been wrestling for a decent amount of time not to miss a spot like that. I know she was hired as a manager but there is no excuse for that. She should remember her spot in a match and the fact that that happened 3 times is a shame.

madslam2009 — Operative word being ‘DD fans’. I’m assuming you mean it was the commenters who panned Rosa. I don’t recall that match with Rosa, or recall commenting on it here on DD, so don’t pull the double standards card. The comment about giving Becky the benefit of the doubt was made by ME, not the ‘fans’, so your claim is redundant.

  4. Um… yeah. This is what tends to happen when you sign a woman without bothering to give her a tryout match first (i. e. Bayless). Surprise, surprise — it turns out that she’s not a good wrestler, which anyone who’s seen her work on the indies could have told these people before they signed her. But I guess they thought her being able to do a good Snooki impression was more important. Idiots.

  5. That is bad. I would almost say that Becky’s stunt in TNA will be like Rosie’s.

  6. I don’t really think it’s a secret that Bayless isn’t very good in the ring.

If they’re smart (which, usually isn’t the case) then they’ll keep her out of the ring and just let her be a valet.

  7. Haa i knew it. From the time she was signed i knew she isnt knockout material more like wrestlicious material. She is slow and such a botch queen she is worser than velvet sky, wow becky pretty much ruined christina’s chance at TNA spotlight. TNA is pretty in considerent for signing her c’mon TNA your better than that.

  8. Another bad match review with the ladies in TNA. WTF is going on ???? It’s always a timing or miscommunication of sorts in most of the Knockout’s matches of late. The only logical explanation for these continued match botches, mistakes, etc… is that all matches featuring the TNA Knockout’s are being booked on the fly without giving the ladies any/enough time to plan out the match, what spots each one of them are going to hit, sell or no-sell certain moves, and the jobber putting over the booked winner in convincing, decisive manner. Just a theory I could be 1000% wrong on this.

I just hope that this disaster of a match doesn’t/hasn’t ruined Christina Von Eerie’s chances of being signed by the company. TNA should give her another tryout match one on one with Taylor Wilde, Hamada, or Daffney before deciding whether to sign her or pass on her.

  9. She’s a botch queen says the person who is a lacey von erich fan

  10. id feel bad if i was her to miss 3 spots like that ..but i agree that not every woman should have to wrestle look at debra she manages & had catfights & the crowd loved her & she was way over so i dont think every single dive/knockout should wrestle..

  11. I find it amusing that someone waith the username “LaceyVonErichFan” is criticising someone else for botching their way through a match. Maybe that’s my sense of irony going into overload.

  12. Yeah, if anything this could ruin things for Christina Von Eerire. I hope it doesn’t.

Becky IS NOT A GOOD WRESTLER. I don’t know why TNA would give put her in a try-out match to evaluate another woman. Shouldn’t Sarita or someone talented be used for that?

Becky has talent, it just isn’t in the ring. In the past I would have thought TNA would be wise enough to keep her at ringside, but seeing as Lacey has been in the ring more than once this year maybe not… (I actually think Lacey would make a great manager as well).

  13. I hope they don’t try and blame Christina for this.

  14. At least it’s not Christina who wasn’t botching, I was worried that Becky’s inexperience could ruin it for CVE but let’s hope that’s not the case. :)

  15. It’s not a big suprise. It’s been said on the danger show that wrestling isint her strong suite. Not everyone can be a Sara Del Rey in the ring. Personally is where she delievers the best. I still think they should train her while she’s managing to see if they can help her some.

  16. What are TNA going to do when Jersey Shore is no longer a show on MTV,turn around and release Becky Bayless when Snooki is no longer on the Jersey Shore? It may turn around and bite TNA right in the behind for hiring her,if she is not use properly like they did with Rosie or was Rosie was just a replacemnent for Awesome Kong, when Awesome left that they knew that they a big girl to wrestle, and they rush into signing Rosie without knowledge or merit.

  17. @Melaine
I aplogize for blamig DD fans but i stick by my opinion. Becky has been wrestling for too long to be making botches like that. She has been wrestling for quite some time and even if she was hired for a managerial role, this is a shame.

  18. Maybe they didn’t use a Taylor Wilde, Hamada, or Daffney for a tryout because the last time they did that with Daffney she got hurt. I really don’t think they are actually looking at ringwork in a dark match so much as they are looking for a “fit” for a person anyway.

But to the main topic, I think it’s foolish that TNA would want her to be in the ring for anything other than special occasions. As has been mentioned repeatedly, everyone knows that Becky’s strong points are not her ringwork. Surely the TNA office would know this too. It’s like putting Jim Cornette in the ring to wrestle. Why? Unless it’s something special, you’re just wasting her talents and potential to boost ratings & PPV revenue.

Personally I think it’s a great idea to exploit the popularity of the Jersey Shore and I am amazed that TNA actually beat WWE to the punch on this one. Who’s better than Becky Bayless to play a Snooki clone? She has a unique look as does Von Eerie and hopefully both will find a “fit” in TNA that plays to their strengths.

  19. yeah, becky’s far from being the best. let’s hope her future ring-time is limited. i’m just glad this happened in a dark match and wasn’t aired on tv. i also hope her limited ability didn’t reflect too badly on christina and/or effect her own chances of getting signed.

sort of in becky’s defence, though, you don’t always have to be freat in the ring to be a great wrestling character, i’m actually looking forward to her and her partner’s tv debut.

  20. ” or was Rosie was just a replacemnent for Awesome Kong, when Awesome left that they knew that they a big girl to wrestle, and they rush into signing Rosie without knowledge or merit.”

i’ve always felt that rosie was instead a replacement for angelina. she was signed around the time love was out on injury and inserted into a feud with the beautiful people straight away, but then love healed up much quicker than expected and lottalove was quietly shooed off-screen.

    Melanie Reply:

Just to reiterate: Becky was hired to be a manager. We are likely not even going to see her wrestle on TV.

  21. she might be worst that lacey

  22. PACK………………YOUR………….BAGS!!!

  23. I really want her to wrestle on TNA, I only enjoy watching TNA when it’s falling apart, like when Lacey is wrestling or The “Beautiful” People are making their not-so-beautiful entrance. I miss Rosey already, she never had a chance to have a ’bout against Von Erich. I really hope they get Becky straight away into a feud with Lacey, maybe even add Velvet to the mix. That’d be pure enjoyment.

  24. How stupid are these people? If they ever watched one of her matches they would know that wrestling is not her strong suit, she has always been good at managing. I don’t understand this fascination WWE and TNA have with trying to make their female talent do everything. You never saw James Mitchell wrestle, Triple H doesn’t interview people before he goes and wrestles. I don’t even get why they brought her in as a manager, Women managers are useless these days. They’re just there to be eye candy and that has always urked me because there are a lot of wrestlers out there who can’t talk and would get over better if they had someone to talk for them, but even if they got a manager they would still have him talk instead of the manager which baffles me to no end.

  25. Even WWE , never signed Becky because of her wrestling, so that says alot, haha

  26. @FCW Divas
I’m not even sure Becky has made an attempt to go to TNA. I know Lacey has though,

  27. *TNA I meant WWE

  28. I love how people are judging her based off a dark match. Do you know how many guys have to have their matches retaped because they messed up? No one has ever said Becky was a great wrestler. She’s decent. Not the worst by far and honestly, in her defense, her partner is someone who speaks little English. There is nothing saying that he may have played a part in her screwing up. Even if he didn’t? It’s a dark match for a reason. If TNA really wants Christina, they won’t go based off one match and will look at her past experience. Obviously that is what they did with Rosie because she injured Daffney and was still hired. Becky lives in Tampa, it’s easier to have her drive to Orlando then it would have been to fly in someone just for a dark match.

  29. see, what i say? i’ve seen becky wrestling and she’s bad. i’m glad this was a mixed tag match cause if this was a singles match, becky would be fired on the spot. she should just stick to valet and catfights. i would love to see her and chelsea catfights
