I am all for a unification match. The Diva title has become completely useless. They just ‘give’ the title to someone. See Micky James loosing to Jillian, just so Melina can take the belt in a 5-second match. Or the way Maryse got the title. And Melina’s 2nd run.
Whenever there is a diva champion they just throw some random opponents to them in 2-minute matches. There arent really any ‘feuds’ for the title anymore, the only real feud was Maryse vs Melina almost a year ago. So they might as well get rid of the belt completely.
If they unify the titles it means that the diva that is champion will have to defend it in the two brands right? I don’t think it’s that good. I mean the only champions we usually have is either Mccool or Melina so what will that mean to the other divas? Bah.
With 1 title WILL WE EVER see Gail Kim as a Champion in WWE again?
I mean with the Divas/Women’s Title’s separate, there was always a chance, but now with Melina, LayCool, Maryse, Eve and soon Beth Phoenix returning, I can’t see how it will happen . ..
What I can see happening is Layla/Michelle winning against Melina and then LayCool feuding with each other over the belts, maybe . . .
N-O!Unification is a big no-no when it comes to divas.One titles means only one champion,which is absolutely not fair to the other divas.
I really doubt it’s so well thought out that they’ll want to have to deal with the logistics of having the belt cross shows every week. More likely that we just get more shows on one or the other or on both brands with no Diva presence.

a saving grace of sorts would be if they went ahead and made one of the titles a tag title. the women’s belt is already split and shared between two, so it sort of writes itself.
I understand the unification, to an extent.
But im worried what that means for the classic women’s title belt.
Its been the same since 1998 and i dont think it should change just because its unified with the divas title, which i’ve grown to “accept” the way it looks.
I don’t know i guess there’s nothing we can do about it, it’s going to happen. Lets just hope it works, and it’s worth it.
I voted as NO… I dont c any point whatsoever … 2 Title’s means more diva action, which is always good for the diva division.. and with the signing of Isis n others..its only gonna get more intresting and intense…imo

it’s not like the Raw Divas matches are gonna get longer, and Raw is the show that isn’t doing any story progression right now, ugh i hate that this is happening
No because the title will only ever go to Melina, Michelle or Beth

I voted no simply because if they do that then what are they going to do with all the women they have. You are going to see a massive lay off.
This move seems to me that its going to be Michelle in the match with her winning to give her yet another freakin notch on her belt. Thats my opinion
It just seems like the WWE is lazy. They fire women left and right and can’t be bothered to come up with interesting story lines or even act like they remotely care about the Divas so they just unify the title. That makes it all easier. They did the same thing with the Tag Titles. Lack of a division + not caring = unification.
I’ve just read that WWE are planning to Unify all the belts in the WWE before Wrestlemania next year. HUGE roster cuts must surely be coming.
Maybe WWE is downsizing….. cause of the economic times…. or something like that… they are unifying all the title as I read and it seems sad… soon we will have only one show… and it sucks

i used to like that idea, but with how the divas are treated of late, an all diva show would probably just annoy me. besides, i’m still waiting for that all diva ecw special from a year and a half ago ;) lol
whatever happens, i get the feeling that they’ll be retiring the “women’s” title in favour of the divas belt. even worse, they’ll have an entirely new belt design and it’ll end up looking twice as fugly as the new tag titles :(

Yes, they don’t need 2 titles. With 2 titles they probably were going to have to give it to girls like Kelly or even Rosa and that would piss people off.
Like I said in the other topic, for those who think that now Gail and other girls in her position will not stand a chance on winning the belt, they didn’t have chances in the first place.
Everybody knows that the only reason they hired Gail again was to weaken TNA’s knockout Division. Just like everybody knows that Jillian Hall will always be stuck in stupid gimmicks. Girls like Natalya and Tamina will probably remain mainly as managers with occasional wrestling matches.
So the women’s division will be exactly the same as it is now. But we will have just one title. Its not like the Divas title ever got an amazing build up and meaning.
The first part of Gail Kim #1 I agree with.,With Beth soon returning I can’t either see it happening.NOw Beth on twitter last night playing in character said the right thing “if” it went that way.But what I see since it is NOC and every title is on the line that is a good way to get all the Diva’s the entire roster on a pay per view and nothing else.Cause with a Lumberjill match means it’s more a possibilty of someone getting DQ and then no title changes hands and you had both title ‘s on the line.It’s a good story line for a PPV but that’s all.Trouble is I don’t either see an inter-brand fued and since Raw is the A brand it wouldn’t make sense to have the title on the B brand.Besides how to you do storylines with the title on the other brand.But first off lets get this Night Of Champions over with and see how the match went and then we can go from there. Cause like we all know Beth is gonna be back soon and like Melina is gonna want to go after that women’s title she had to drop cause of injury and like they did Melina go right back to the title So i am just gonna wait for the PPV and then see.
Actually I’m all for i right now, because ‘where’s the talent/writing?’. So with LayCool in the title picture we’ll get some storylines, YAY!,
sidenote: very impressive how many votes there was, says alot about Diva-Dirt. A website consoled basely on Women’s Wrestling and probably gets more hits each day then a regular wrestling gossip site, impressive :)
However is champion will have to travel to both shows and that is going to be an issue. And the same divas will be getting title shots, i mean what happens if melina loses is she going to be pushed to the back…NO what about beth phoenix, McCool what will happen to them.

If the new undisputed womens champion is going to work the RAW brand and the RAW brand only, I’m hoping that they could revert things to the way they were back in 03-04 and have the women who could wrestle their asses off (Alicia, Gail, Natalya, Michelle, Eve, Layla, Melina, Beth, Jillian, and Tamina) on RAW competing for the unified womens championship, and keep women such as Rosa, Maryse, Kelly, The Bellas, and Tiffany on the Smackdown brand where they can perhaps do what Sable and Torrie have been doing in ’03 (catfights, promos, bikini contests, intense feuds, etc).
I’m giving this unification thing a shot . . . As comments said before me WWE is planning to unify all titles , it sounds interesting . Its gonna be like the 90s all over again . One thing I hope they don’t do is take away the Women’s belt . .. The Divas title I can do without.
I voted no. I hate the idea and I hope the match ends like the FCW match ended with Naomi and AJ. If they do unify I see the Women’s Title being the one ended. I know it has alot of history but so did the IC Title and they got rid of that. But just like the IC Title I hope if they do unify they bring one of the belts back in the future.

I dont think its necessary for the unified womens champ to be on the “other” show EVERY week, and each brand is going to have to find their own number one contender, whether that means the two number ones have to face off on one of the shows (take it in turns) to find the top contender I dont know, but that would be cool, we could even end up seeing something like Natalya vs Beth fighting for the right to challenge McCool at a ppv for the title. Of course the wwe probably wont be that creative but if the unification gives us the chance to see some match ups between the real wrestlers & not the eye candy then I’m all for it. Smackdown can still have some diva storylines, raw probably wont but then when was the last time they had a storyline lasting more than one week. As for Gail & Jillian getting shots, it’s not as if they are now, I see the belt mostly going between Melina, Beth, McCool, & Maryse, but Layla, Alicia & Eve may get the odd title run, because of her mic skill I could see Layla having a better chance than the other two, ideally Nattie will be given a much greater role, she can still be a manager, Lita & Melina both acted as managers & still wrestled, plus as a member of the Hart Dynasty she can go to Smackdown at the moment & could be used as a tag partner for kk, ANYTHING to get some different matches.
I’m thinking that WWE is planning a decent sized layoff of talent and they are going to start using Divas in other capacities more.
Of course, my dream booking would be to have the entire Divas roster float between both shows, but WWE never does what I want it seems.
I’ll give the title unification a chance, especially if they go ahead and unify all the titles (I have no idea how they would work this out but…). Besides, as much as diva-dirt readers want to see Gail and Jillian win titles, the fact of the matter is WWE is never going to do it, at least not in a serious way. Gail was brought back just to hurt TNA and because Gail wanted to shore-up her nest egg. Jillian appeals to Vince’s stupid sense of humor, hence the reason she is saddled with such awful gimmicks. To her credit, Jillian has survived multiple cuts even with such crappy characters. However, I doubt Vince will ever let Jillian be more than the jobber to the stars (much Regal is sentenced to dealing with Santino forever).
I think the question now is who is on the bubble to get released? Tiffany, Rosa, the Bellas, and Gail (eep) are obvious choices. With Aksana waiting in the wings, Maryse might need to plan her post-WWE career too (and that would be a travesty)–especially if they blame her for Ted not getting over. Hmmm… this might be easier if one were to see who currently has a character:
Melina–fiesty, fiery hellcat in the ring… who smiles a lot and loves almost everyone
Michelle and Layla–pumped up Mean Girls, BFF champs
Maryse–gold-digging sexpot egotist
Jillian–comic relief, American Idol gone horribly wrong
Beth–The GLAMAZON
Natalya–Bret Hart’s favorite niece, THD valet
Tamina–Usos’ valet with horrible taste in men
Alicia–vindictive and sassy
Kelly–the blondest blonde McHappypants face
Eve and the Bellas have generic personalities–the face and the twins, but Eve is popular backstage
Gail–the random “make up the numbers” face
Tiffany–Kelly’s friend (but Kelly has lots of friends)
Rosa–aerobics cameo queen? Is that her character?

I’m glad their unifying them to be honest, I mean we have enough titles on both shows as it is tbh. Plus with them unified as one title, we can get more relivant storylines from that 1 champion, making the belt that much more prestigious.
Also I would like to point out (if it hasn’t already) that it’s not just the tag titles & Womans title they plan to unify, but word currently going around is that they will eventually even unify the IC & US titles, and also the 2 main world titles as well. They plan on the main titles uniting for next Wrestlemania. Personally, I’m glad they are going this, maybe we can look forward to one full brand again instead of two seperate shows? Thats what it looks like will happen, and I can’t wait. =-P
› i really, really, hope they do not retire the women’s title for the divas title. people above ( and i may be wrong, it may have been one person, don’t jump me, lmao ) mentioned how they might retire it because of the people who are holding it are not “deserving,” if you will … well my tiny rebuttal to that, is how do you expect anyone to be deserving to hold the title when all wwe does it backseat their good divas. we can’t blame the women’s title or the people who hold them because wwe won’t give the good divas a push just because they don’t have inserted-D cups or plastic noses. either way, ultimately, i feel like merging / retiring the women’s title for the divas title would only lower its value worse than it would if it would be triumphant. *shrugs.
I’m one of the undecided votes.
The only way I can somewhat agree to it, is if they bring in a new title. Perhaps a Women’s Tag Team Championship. Why should the men just get a Tag Team Championship/Division and not the women?
It’ll will keep some of the women from being released and open up new feuds and storylines.

LayCool (If they stay together and take Michelle out of the title hunt)
Tamina and Nattie (since they scrapped the HD vs Usos)

I say take Layla out the main title hunt, because she only works well with a partner (for now). Plus I’d like to see Eve as a heel.
And I would have said Alicia and Layla, but I think Alicia has more potential than Layla and Eve.
I don’t think the history of the belt will die if they unify the titles. In fact they’re bringing history together. The history Women’s belt with the beginning of the history with the Diva’s belt. History won’t be lost it will be united to make more history.

NO, to me it’s like, if it wasn’t obvious they were giving up on the Diva’s division before, it is now. Having one title means they only have 1 storyline to half-ass instead of 2. Plus, girls who didn’t have a chance before, really don’t now. Even if it’s defended on both brands, there are too many Divas for just 1 belt. They don’t really lack Divas on SD, it’s just they chose not to use Rosa, Beth got hurt, Tiffany is suspended, Serena wasn’t involved but now she’s released.
So, to me, this is goodbye for Rosa, The Bellas, Jillian, Gail, and maybe even more. I don’t want them to go but it’s probably true :(

So true. A lot of women get release and I am betting they WON'T be letting go of the ones they need to let go.
Unlike the men who will still have varuous titles to fight for. The women only have ONE belt.
If the WWE didn't take time to think of a storyline for the women with the belt(s). How do you expect them to come up with one for those without the belt(s)?
The divison is dying I won't be surprised sometime next year all the women will be gone and we got back to the valet/manager days with little interaction.

A lumberjill/jack match is kind of a No DQ match! They are letting people on the outside interfere in the match. Whether that person falls out the ring, is pushed, kicked, or thrown the out of the ring or someone on the outside pulls them out. The Diva’s are not that hardcore for an extreme DQ.
I hate that about Gail. I think that as well. I don’t think Gail is going anywhere. If they drop her she is going back to TNA and they WWE won’t want that.
I hope WWE is going to change their mind about the unifying. I think it is great that each brand has their own women’s title for the divas to go after. Though having 2 titles means the title is circulating among a few divas, WWE should expand the diva’s division to counter that circulating problem. In my opinion, WWE divas division has really gone weaker and weaker over the years since divas like Trish Lita Victoria and etc had left. Instead of actually wrestling, the WWE divas division today seemed more like just a pretty face who acts as if they can wrestle. For instance, I seriously do not understand why is WWE favoring Michelle McCool so much. In my opinion, she is way overrated and she often appear to be fake. WWE should really give chance to other more deserving divas like Gail Kim. Seriously, if Layla cant even defend her title herself, she might as well give it to someone else; she is by far the weakest Women’s Champ to me, even Jilian the few seconds Diva’s champ, is a better champ than she is. Also, Raw’s anonymous GM should make his/her appearance and keep things in order. Laycool has crossed way over the line going to RAW and do as they please all the time.
So yeah, WWE should not be unifying the two titles. And I dont think any of our opinion matters because the match is going to be carried out as planned. I am at the state of feeling super sick and tired of Laycool so much that if they win this match, I AM NOT WATCHING WWE ANYMORE!!
I heard the WWE was unifying the title (except US & IC) to end the interbrand of Raw and Smackdown, like things were before the draft.
This is a good thing, because everybody can be on each show without having a title. Meaning more feuds and storylines and contenders. A reunion (or feud) with Edge and Christian. Drew McIntyre vs Randy Orton feud and so on. Now that more word and news and reasons are coming out. I see this unfying the titles as a good thing.
I hope now that they are unifying the titles. They could bring back the Cruiserweight title. This could also be good for some of the divas too. Girls like Beth, Melina, Nattie and Tamina can fight for that belt against each other and some men.
They could also bring a tag title for the women as well.
