The WWE Divas and Women’s Championships will be unified at Night of Champions when Melina faces either Layla or Michelle McCool.
The match will also be a lumberjack match with all the other WWE Divas surrounding the ring.
Night of Champions takes place on September 19th.

Did WWE just brew a huge pot of fail backstage and put in every worst case scenario imaginable? Not only a title unification, resulting in firings, but a lumberjill match? Worst decision I’ve seen made for the divas in years really.
stupid, like i said on the Raw Response. There will be the same 2,3,4 Divas going after it and all the others doing absolutely nothing. At least with there being one on both shows, they can be doing more things with them
pissed of melinas gonna win then the raw divas will get title shots and smackdown divas forgotten (well except for beth and michelle) and did anyone else notice natalya werent in the line up… laycool to win then they can fued with each other

On one hand it makes since to unify the belts, because the talent in the division is depleting quickly and it would refreshen it but at the same time some divas will never have a chance

i am thinkin it will prob be a count out or a DQ match, i dont think they will actually combined the two titles, but if they do they better keep the womens title, and get rid of the divas title, but i guess we will have to wait to Night of Champions i am excited to see what happens,

Maryse (since she doesn’t care what anyone thinks of what she says) or the Divas who never get title shots or anything should complain about it and say it’s not all about them, it’s about the whole division and if they do that then it’ll go even further down the drain.
laycool need to win this if we want to see the titles split up again at some point. If Melina wins, its unified. If Laycool wins, I can see them carrying around both belts so the titles could then be split up again.

The match , and this whole plan was pretty pointless , like I said before we get so excitied only to be sitting here not satisfied……With wwe building the division around Melina , Beth & Lay-Cool there is no dobut that the others will b come champions….
All in all Melina is gonna b come the 1st eva Undisputed Womens Champion….
With one title to fight for and the unwillingness of the creative team to start more than one storyline for the divas I see a lot of the the girls at the bottom of the totem pole getting the pink slip soon.
We all know Lumberjill matches get around 5 minutes and not to mention the fact that if it does become unified and interbrand, SmackDown will never see those championships again just like the WWE Tag Team Championships. I mean think of all those years when it was just the Women’s title and how many times did anyone from the blue brand get a shot? I remember Torrie had one and Nidia had one and that was about it.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Melina win so they can use the Divas title, it’s the newer title and it’s got their little logo on it and it’s more unique than the Women’s, furthermore it adds emphasis that these are Divas and not women, something which WWE wants us to know, they want to brand the Divas, hence these regulations in FCW if you want to be one. This is just an easy way of adding the Women’s prestiege to the commerical belt so they can continue to use it and have it be taken seriously.
Has it occurred to anyone that the winner of the match will be similar to the unified tag champs – the champion will be appearing on both shows and maybe the title shots on PPV will alternate between both brands?

after reading wwe.coms match description.this is how i predict the match
NOC i see the match beginning with McCool on the apron getting involved, Kelly or Eve pull her down and then all the lumberjills attack McCool…then Layla runs at Melina, misses a clothesline, Melina hits the last call and wins…winner in 12 seconds…and succesffully burying her second diva in a month MELINA
This is very disappointing!
LayCool is going to lose everyone in that lineup hates LayCool and once Layla or Michelle gets knocked out the ring. They’re getting jump and Melina is going to get the win.
So might as well start counting down the days until some of our favorite and upcoming/soon-to-be favorite divas get released!

› i'm sorry, but i really do not agree with that. maybe the divas title has a good number of contenders, if wwe used them right, which we can all pretty much understand isn't going to happen – but until smackdown gets some more people, with tiffany out with her suspension, kelly kelly being put on the back burner for some reason, rosa not being able to hold her own weight, and beth being out. i think the unification, so far as the women's title goes, is the best idea – but i don't agree with melina winning. so far as history goes, the women's title is THE title of the wwe women's division. i just would rather see the divas titles forgotten rather than the women's title, and i think wwe would possibly feel the same way, i don't know.

Good. Call it a coincidence if you will, but the division was doing well enough before the second title was introduce. Things didn’t start going down hill until they created two divisions.
Give Melina the unified belt and let her spearhead the division, and pack all the women who are worth something over to SmackDown where chances are they’ll actually be given airtime and storylines. And I have faith that Nattie’s time will come, because WWE don’t seem as intent on pushing Maryse and Eve anymore, and there’s only so long you can wait before coming to terms with how fantastic a wrestler she is.

i completely agree, i never really thought the idea of two division was a good thing – although i loved the fact that the divas were getting somewhat of a push, i knew it would become hectic because wwe ruins everything that has potential to be good.

i think they are doing this forvthe current lack of divas on smackdown!, maybe we will see some more cross-brand matches like in the wwf.
I think this is a rather short sighted plan. All the divas don’t need to be on RAW and if they just shifted some over, we wouldn’t have a problem. I predict it’ll be Michelle vs Melina and Michelle will win then Michelle and Layla will become ‘co-women’s champions.’ Eventually one of them will lose their title to Beth Phoenix or Melina and the title will be un-unified thus creating a breakdown of Laycool. Thats how I’d do it anyway. >.<
I hate it. Too many women are employed for there to be only one title. I just hope they all don’t get fired at once like they did back in 2004

but when i think deeply…the divas title was made for torrie wilson to be the first ever to win anything before she leaves, but since she left WWE seemed to be lost and didn’t know what exactly to do with two women titles in the comapny and we all expected this to happen!!
