The WWE Divas and Women’s Championships will be unified at Night of Champions when Melina faces either Layla or Michelle McCool.
The match will also be a lumberjack match with all the other WWE Divas surrounding the ring.
Night of Champions takes place on September 19th.

@abwiz If Nattie , Jillian & Gail hardly get any DECENT in ring time now iwth both of the titles what makes you think they will now when the titles unify…yes there is a chance that they will … but if their chances wasnt that high now….how high do you think it will be when the titles unify….
People are not giving it a chance because we know the WWE. It’s time to trim the fat and I have a feeling with NXT season three being co-ed/intergender we’re gonna see so many divas leaving for the new ones.

the unification match is a terrible mistake.
I’ve been warning you all for the last few weeks that the unification was coming and here it is. Now like I’ve stated earlier this is what is going to happen from now to NOC.
- Teddy long will force Lay-Cool to have a title match between each other to make one of them 100% champion. He’ll state as an ultimatum that if they don’t he’ll strip them both of the title.
- Michelle McCool will win causing Lay-Cool to break up, because Michelle will show her true colors by kicking Layla to the curb now that she’s champion again.
- At NOC two things will either happen 1.) McCool will win screwing Melina (BOO!!!) or 2.) Layla will get revenge by interfering and causing McCool to lose turning Layla face.
I’m praying for the latter.
Its a lumberjill match so no one will get counted out because they will get thrown back in and there aren’t really dq’s in divas matches. i think laycool will pull out a win.
I’m pretty sure the Diva’s title was made for Maryse too. It looks best on her :] Anyway, I want to give it a chance but I do that a lot with stuff WWE does with the Divas and I’m always disappointed so…
I think that the Least that WWE can do is Having the Former Champions As Lumberjacks not the Current Divas….ifit is not the case then there will be 4 Options
1. LayCool wins
2. Melina Wins
3. Diva Gets Interfered and Causes Caos and Match Is Cancelled
4. Vickie Says HandiCap ..GM or Teddy Says Winner Takes All Match …..Posiible Divas as Melinas Partner …..Returning Beth…Kelly ( Most Probable)…Eve or Maybe Even Gail
I’m not too thrilled about this.
The Divas title was made for Torrie Wilson. She was suppose to become the first Divas champion, but suffered that career ending neck injury. The WWE decided to give it to McCool instead.
PS – I just thought of this. If Lay-Cool doesn’t break up and they both become official title holders they’ll be copying The Beautiful People yet again. TBP had all the KO title and if this comes to pass Lay-Cool will have all the WWE Divas’ titles.
I’d agree with the people above who were saying they were fine with a much smaller division featuring only one title in the past, it’s not the end of the world. Still, it does seem like we’re about to see a whole slew of releases, especially with even more new women supposedly coming in through NXT.
i gotta say, i love having 2 womens title belts. the divas title hasnt been around long either. its only been since the bash in 2008. i hope they dont get rid of the womens belt. i love that title. it has so much history. trish, moohlah, lita, sable, chyna, mae, all the greats have held this belt. i was hoping one day to hold it myslef. i hope they just have the two belts on one person without changing anything about either belt. the divas belt is new, and the womens belt is the oldest in history. i hope that whoever wins and im hoping its melina that they just carry both belts around until someone beats her for one. i dont want them to change them like they did the old I-C belts, or the tag belts. i hope they keep both around like they did for the tag belts for a while. i dont want to see one brand new belt. i hope to see both around still. im just praying that michelle doesnt win the match. because ever since she became involved with taker, she has been in the spotlight all the time. by winning the divas title first, she made history. then being the first woman to hold both the womens and divas belts, she made historty yet again. i hope she doesnt make historty this time. i like her, but i think she is only getting all these is because of taker. melina deserves to make some history for once. it got me mad seeing how layla got the winning pinfall against beth for the title then michelle gets in and makes herself co-champ. wwe just wants to focus everything on her. in my opinion wwe is destroying the womens division and brigning embarrassment to the womens championship. women like trish, lita, gail, chyna, moohlah, molly, jazz victoria the list goes on, busted thier asses to bring honor and dignity to that belt.and within months, just to please taker and his little wife michelle, wwe has destroyed all those women hard work.
Bad bad bad move…If they unify the titles,it means only one brand will have women’s champion while the other show goes on without a women’s title…What the heck is this?!!!

Just a few quick questions. How many times have the tag team championships been defended since it became unified? How many times has it been defended on both brands? When was the last time the tag team championships were defended?
So are we sure the unified womens/divas championship will be defended on both brands?
They can’t split up the belts once they’ve been unified.
I have a feeling we will be getting a new belt. Since LayCool broke and “besmirsched” the Women’s Championship. A new look won’t take the history away.
am I the only one who’s happy about this, ever since wwe got the new belt BOTH belts have been less valuable, the divas title was meant to help the smackdown division but ever since maryse won it (no offense) its been seen as a joke, 1 title will make the belt more important and more valued, and who knows they can eventually create a tag team belt, and possibly start a show just for the divas, like shimmer, with the main title and then tag titles and even if they wanted to bring in a title for the younger girls e.g intercontinental type belt they could. I see this as a whole new opportunity for the divas
Maryse’s title reigns have been either great (her first) or boring (her second). The Divas title became a bit of a joke with Jillian’s 5 second reign.
However, if WWE can carve distinct personalities with the girls left after all the roster firings and hirings and call-ups–all the better. The problem is that we have too many women who are just there (for various reasons).
Personally, I hope they just make the divas a separate division that appears on both brands since they treat the Divas as separate from the Superstars as it is. That way divas like Maryse, Nattie, and Tamina may valet on Raw, but wrestle on SD and vice versa. Granted, for the house show circuit, the Divas’ scheduling may be a bit complicated as one month they may appear on both shows, but house show tour with one brand and then the next month tour with the other, but with so few of them it shouldn’t be that much of an unconvenience.
I’m problary going to get booed for this but i think that one of the reasons that Mccool is in high profile matches & storylines is b’cos of her connections (undertaker). If she wins at NOC, i will be annoyed b’cos Layla was never given a fair chance to be champ on her on. I think im ready for laycool to split but i have a feeling that Michelle will win the diva’s title then on the smackdown after, they might say something like “the proposal was just a way to get us both titles”.
I would love to see Lay-Cool win. But, it would just be complicated. In my eyes Michelle should be Women’s Champ, and Layla should be Divas. The Women’s belt holds so much history, and means so much. Some of the greatest female wrestlers ever have been Women’s champions. It’s only right that the muscle and wrestling talent of the group is Women’s champion. And the looks and charisma of the group if the feminime Divas belt. Now that would be Flawless.
On the bright side, our agony won’t last long since diva matches only last 30 seconds.
Well it’s being reported that it’ll be Michelle vs Melina at NOC.
- As noted before, WWE will be holding a Unification match for the Divas and Women’s Titles at Night of Champions. The talk Monday was that WWE is planning to unify all the titles in the next year and have one World Title, one Tag Team Title, one Intercontinental/US Title and one Women’s Title. The idea would be to do the WWE and World Title Unification match at WrestleMania 27.
bad bad idea!! why unify the belts. u may all disagree but i wish laycool win! that way the titles will not be unified it means that each member of laycool will have a title. so there still will be two titles. unifying titles is a stupid idea. there are too many divas for one title. raw is packed with divas! i belive they’re doing this cos sd has 4 divas, but it could be fixed they need more divas. or in a way it may be a good thing if laycool win (i hope) then it means more divas will be able to compete on sd! it will be good for the sd divas division more women will compete!

I always thought that the Divas title was kinda worthless and too girly (almost in a mocking way). Sure this meant that the women in both brands could get a title, but in a unification that can also happen.
Besides, people might say that there are many Divas, but most of them shouldn’t get the title at all. For those who also say that this ruins even more the chances of Gail, Jillian or Natalya, its not like, unfortunately, they had many chances in the first place.
The only women they find title worthy are: Michelle, Layla, Beth, Melina and Maryse. I’m not so sure about Eve and Alicia, since her title reigns weren’t very long and not memorable at all and with this One title thing I don’t see them getting another chance in a long while.
If they were smart, they would have just one singles female title and one tag team. Soon there will be the new girls from NXT so they have teams for that.
But with the time they get on TV, one title is just enough.
I see Melina winning this and Laycool breaking up.
Can this match end in a Count out or DQ? If it does I hope that happens!
Another reason why this is a good idea cause it gives the champ(s) to be on different brand . . . I read on various websites that some people like the unification of all the WWE’s belts . The reason for it probably is the lack of main event stars. It gives a fresh new start to the WWE && hopefully they do it right .
it should be LAYLA VS MELINA michelle should be a jill & nothing more in the match & maybe helping layla thats it since layla & melina have had good matches on smackdown so i see them having a good match with layla coming out the winner & making mccool jealous & so she mccool turns on layla…layla stands alone as the womens champ..
im still pissed layla isnt the main person in lay-cool since it is lay< then cool since michelle cant get a reaction & layla can…

Hey, I read a rumor that the WWE is planning to unified all the titles in the WWE with in the next year. If the rumor is true than the Divas\Women’s Unification match is going to have either Melina, Michelle McCool or Layla will walk out the unified champion. I’m saying it’s going to say it’s going to be Michelle McCool walking out as the unified champion even though I personally don’t like her.
Maybe this will be good ! All the divas on Both Brands & Actually i think at least two divas should win NXT & Go to Smackdown
The only good news is the US and IC titles WON’T be unified. YES!
The US title will be the main midcarders title.
The IC title has always been a stepping stone for midcarders to become main eventers and World Heavyweight champs.
Unifying is a good thing. It’ll bring crediblity to the belts and make the wrestlers work harder and weed out the wea klinks. Let’s face it and be real.NOT everyone is going to be a champion. That’s just logic.
It has also been said that they are doing this to stop being interbrands. Going back to the days before the invasion and draft. This will bring in more feuds, storylines, and contenders. It will bring up lower cards when the top dogs retire or leave. Chris Jericho is retiring along with a few others.
So I now see this as a good thing.
