In the latest edition of The Ross Report at WWE.com, Hall of Famer, Jim Ross addresses WWE’s risky move of producing an all-Diva version of NXT. He writes:
Would an all-Diva WWE TV show work? I’ve always wondered how a TV show devoted completely to WWE Divas would do. Nonetheless the 3rd season of NXT will feature all Divas, as I understand it. That should prove for some interesting TV over the next few weeks. It will be interesting to hear Cole and Mathews navigate us through these unchartered waters. Perhaps WWE honchos could retain the services of Paris Hilton to be the third member of the NXT announce team. I hear that she’s looking for work. She’d likely work for gum.

Obviously, an all-Diva show like this is a big risk. In fact, I’m kind of surprised that WWE didn’t try testing the waters first perhaps with a one-off all Divas episode of WWE Superstars, or that ill-fated all-Diva ECW last year.

ECW! That was the show that did all divas.
Ugh I was trying to figure that out for months.
I don’t think having and all-female show is bad at all. We all know it’s coming, so it’s no surprise and NXT is just an hour long. I think it’ll be fine. Women are no different than man when it comes to wrestling (barring the fact that the companies they’re working for aren’t allowing them to be a certain way)
lol “work for Gum”
i wonder if her knows that when Paris Hilton was caught with cocaine this weekend she claimed it was gum lol
Of course she’d work for gum. She doesn’t need money.
it definitely is risky and honestly, my hopes aren’t too high for it being successful in terms of ratings, but i seriously wish they do well. the last thing we need is wwe to think people don’t care, which in turn could effect the time given to the divas on raw and smackdown even more.
As long as the NXT rating doesnt go anywhere south or atleast remain close to what its been getting since its debut then this all diva experiment can be considered a success.
Well it would make more sense because of them unifying the titles and it would give the matches more time. Around 10 minutes every match leading to 4 a week. More chances of having divas like Gail, Natalya, Beth, Melina and Michelle go against each other and in tag matches etc.
I’ve always wanted a weekly all-divas show but then storylines with the guys go out the window and it would have the possibility of failing. I don’t think anyone watches Superstars to be honest. The whole Diva episode of ECW got me excited last year and just like everything else with them, WWE didn’t deliver. We had a Nikki vs Brie match (who wanted to see that?).
Also forgot taped matches are millions of better than live matches meaning divas like eve and alicia wont be as sloppy as they are on RAW so that means the divas will improve they will have much more time to build there characters and get promoted.
i do have to wonder whether or not “d-nxt” is a testing of the waters in itself. unifying the titles but having two seperate brands doesn’t make sense. perhaps when everything is said and done, we could have a permanent diva exclusive weekly show, all divas on one brand?
cant wait for nxt
An all Diva show is definitely risky. We all know that the WWE Divas are the most criticized female wrestlers, if not one the most criticized athletes in the world.
NXT could be a test to see if an all ladies show would result. I would love to see it. And since, for instance, about 35 to 40 % of the viewers of RAW are female, they could definitely have the audience for it.
i guess the All Diva show is kind of a test drive to see if the fans really like the WWE Divas; i mean the Knockouts New Year Special got quite a low rating so i wonder how the Divas will fair. i am hopeful that the fans will love them, & i know people are crying over Kelly Kelly being a pro. but she is a Pro so that ratings will improve b’cos fans love her
