PWI is biased, we all know that, but this list kinda makes them look stupid.
Angelina Love in second? Since this is about the period between last list and what? August? September? She had her visa issues and an injury. It just doesn’t make sense. Tara did way more than her this year and so did Madison Rayne.
I’m happy they put Melissa and Mercedes so high in the list.
I think they seriously took acids when they decided to put Eve in 5th. Nothing against the girl, but she isn’t that good in the ring, we all know that. Maryse also shouldn’t be in the top 10 this year, cause she almost didn’t do anything. I find terrible that they put Fox above women like Hamada, but thats TNA’s fault for not using they’re better talent. I’m not even going to mention the fact that Kelly is above Natalya, Serena, Layla and Tiffany. Velvet Sky was also extremely overrated, but its understandable, since she got her taste of gold this year.
I’m pleasantly surprised they put Naomi Night in the list. Its a great vote of confidence to put this girl when she is in the wrestling business for such a short time.
If Melina isn’t in the list for not appearing so much, then a lot of women also shouldn’t be there.
is there a place where we can like email PWI and ask questions as to why this list totally blows chunks?
im sorry but Eve being at 5 and Layla at 36 (behind Gail, Jillian, Nattie, Serena and Kelly) is just damn right stupid
considering Layla has had a better year then Eve, shes had the most screen time of any diva, shes been womens champ for 4 months, shes beaten a variety of top talents….she shoulda been in the top 10 and above every other diva then perhaps McCool and Beth
But Dr.LL, what has Layla done that has been so groundbreaking as champion? Her matches have been forgettable, and she has done less than the 1 title match per every 30 days requirement. And, honestly, is she really even THAT good in the ring? Or do we all here at Diva-Dirt just overrate her so much that the hype is blinding our vision? Don’t get me wrong! I think Layla is a professional in every way. She is one of the most electric personalities the WWE Divas division has seen in years, and even better on the mic than some of the top male superstars. But is she really a great in-ring worker when she’s not playing the jobbing heel to Beth? And would her title reign really be memorable at all if it weren’t for Michelle? I’m sorry, but Layla really isn’t as great as we all make her out to be. It amazes me that people will keep trashing Kelly Kelly who at least takes some risks in the ring but will praise Layla to the moon when she has done practically nothing on her own with the women’s title.
But for the record, I agree that Layla should be ranked higher than Eve.
i love that Jillian is higher up then Kelly!
If you count house shows, Layla has defended the title about twenty times (which you should because a title match is still a title match) so don’t give me all that “Layla has only defended the title like TWO TIMES” crap. She should definetly be higher.
Layla should definitely be higher than 36th. She’s had a great year. Is she top 10 or top 15? No. I’d say she should at least be 20th. Hell, maybe she should be in the top 15.
Michelle at #1 is a crock. Really? She barely wrestles anyone, doesn’t go to houseshows for anything, and refuses to put anyone over. At least Layla works houseshows. Michelle is only “champion” because of the Undertaker being her husband. Hell, she’s “Co-Women’s Champion.” Why the hell does she have the “half”-belt? Does she not want to wrestle anymore but wants to be champion so they needed a way to make that happen and, ta-da, just split the belt and have Layla win it and “share” it with Michelle. At least Layla defends it, Michelle just wears the half-strap thing so she can continue her lame push and pretend to be a champion. She’s a decent wrestler and athlete I’ll give her that, but she’s not #1 by a long shot.
And for all the Kelly haters, seriously? Is ripping on Kelly Kelly the only thing you guys do for a living? She works a full schedule at least and has improved far beyond anyones expectations and still has MANY years left in her. She’s a future champion in the making and it upsets way too many people. She’s worked hard, stayed incredibly popular, and deserves the title, so get over it and stop hating on her. It’s infuriating to see people nonstop saying “Kelly sucks,” “Kelly is terrible,” “Kelly is bad.” Give it up, she’s improved an incredible amount since her ECW days, puts on pretty good matches, and is by far the most popular diva on the roster.
And I agree that Melina should NOT be on the list. If you’re out injured and don’t wrestle for the majority of the year, you shouldn’t be on the list. Did she wrestle at all in 2010? This is a list for 2010, if you don’t wrestle in 2010 by the time the list is ready, you don’t make the list. And her winning the title back practically immediately after returning is bull.
@ dark maverick – the list is supposed to be based off plenty of things, match qualitys are one of the lower aspects…what did Maryse, Eve or Alicia do that was so groundbreaking. Layla did something very groundbreaking…she shared her title and became co-champ with Michelle, something that has NEVER been seen before and something that is still being talked about.
the list is based off push, tv time, achievements etc and Layla has had the most of any diva this year
This is list is bs (as it’s always been) If you look further down, there are a couple of women who shouldn’t even be on there. April Hunter and Melissa Coates? When was the last time you heard from these two? How is it the 50 top wrestlers when April is retired from wrestling?
The only names they put attention to is the top 10, which if you go by their standards and ways of judgement, then it’s a pretty accurate list.
layla should have been higher then kelly one layla won a belt..layla has improved on the mic & is for once allowed to show she can do some moves & not just job out..
kelly is popular for looks nothing more & shows the same moves week in week out she hasnt improved much at all…compare her to eve,eve has done moonsaults flips & everything to show she wants to wrestle & get better while kellys hasnt…
eve & layla to me should have been top 20 eve shouldnt have been 5 lol…
Bottom line: This list is total shit. The end.
Omg I just realized gail kim is way higher than alicia fox,k2,and layla.
ANOTHER HEART ATTACK.
I cannot believe Melina can’t even make the list. She may have been injured for 6 months but during the time she was there that counts for this list she was the Diva’s champion (which she won squashing Jillian in about 3 minutes), and had a 5 minute (being generous I think) title defense over Alicia Fox. She held the title almost 3 months (had the longest reign of the last calender year, and 3rd longest in the belts short history). If Jillian can only have the belt for about 10 seconds, lose it, then disappear off Raw for seemingly months and hardly ever win matches when she did show up on it (and not win a lot of matches on superstars either) and still make it to the top 25 then Melina definitely deserves to be on the list. Maryse was off tv for a while during the past year, and spent a while as DiBiase’s valet and thus not wrestling (all her time not actually competing may add up to about 6 months) and she made the top 10 when she held a championship for a shorter amount of time then Melina. I mean Gail Kim is 13 and she only had 1 big push to the finals of the tournament for Melina’s vacated title. and a title shot at fatal 4 way and thats about it. This list is completely screwed up, Melina not being on it at all just the tip of the iceberg of how bad it is.
BILLY JAMES: “…if marketability was such a big factor in deciding the list then why are Mercedes Martinez, Cheerleader Melissa and MsChif in the top 10? They’re in the top 10 because they can wrestle and have wrestled great matches in the past year.”
I see your point. But in relation to your criticism, I actually think they’re skills are part of what makes them marketable. Granted, they don’t have the standard beauty of someone like Kelly and they may not have the same mic skills of someone like Trish but they have had great matches that have drawn both men and women to them. That’s marketability, in my opinion.
I can’t say whether or not they were marketable during their early years. But after being so long in the business and being almost perfect with their ring work, I think that they have already developed their own marketability.
Im glad Michelle is number one…I mark for that chick! I really think Layla should be higher up though, and pple should realize Kelly has improved a lot. Her match against Rosa proved that for me..Madison Rayne for sure belongs up there, but so does Alicia Fox. Im the biggest Gail Kim mark since her in TNA..my eyes still view her as the coolest Knockout but idk, she hadnt done anything memorable in WWE. And whats this about Michelle not doing house shows? Not putting divas over? Sure sounds like BS, there are tons of new houseshow vids on youtube with Michelle on. And Michelle so puts the girls over no matter who she gets in the ring with they get to use their moves…I mean damn, look at Melina, few weeks back and she squashes Alicia Fox like nothing, even goes her way to say some pple dont act like champs…LayCool may not act like it but its their gimmick…she needs to just worry about getting better and not rendering the rest of the divas useless..
