Former WWE Women’s Champion, Lita – real name Amy Dumas — will be the only Diva commemorated on WWE’s new ‘Wrestling’s Highest Flyers’ DVD due for release next month.

The 3-disc set will feature Lita’s main event match against Trish Stratus from a December 2004 episode of Raw. The match (which you can relive below) saw Lita regain the Women’s Title after a lengthy feud with her career-long rival, and also featured a crazy bump in which Lita did a suicide dive to the outside, almost breaking her neck.

The DVD set is due for release in the US on October 12th and in Europe in December.

  1. Awesomeness! Its great to see Lita(along with Trish)finally get some recognition for her contributions to the WWE. It always makes me a little sad when she’s not shown the appreciation that others get. Does this mean she’s getting royalties? Lol. Go Lita! The Legend of Lita! How’s that for a future DVD? Haha..I’m a dreamer ;)

  2. God, I love Lita. She was my favorite.
I agree: She deserved a lot more than she got. She was amazing. For years, people loved her. When she came out the crowed went crazy!

    You go, gurl.

  3. i will def be buying this dvd, because the legend herself is wrestling on it, the one the only, seven time women champions, 3 time babe of the year, 2003 Diva of the Decade, and future Hall of Famer trish stratus, and o ya i will to because Lita is on it

  4. One of my fave women matches ever in the WWE. Will the divas of today ever reach this point in the WWE again?

  5. This has got to be one of my favorite matches of all time and its my favorite feud. I still get chills watching this match lol. Are they gonna have the backstage segment that happened before the match? Lol. The walking kiss of death.

i agree this is a “classic”.

  6. This match was a classic. When two women could go out that and perform just as good as the guys (if not better) and actually get the crowd into their match. This match is just so historic in itself. WWE could repeat this with two other Divas, if they put as much time, energy and effort into them as they did with Trish and Lita during this time. But, I’m just glad that Trish and Lita got to have a match in the main event. They put on such a good showing that night!

  7. If (and when) they get inducted to the Hall Of Fame. I hope they are inducted the same year. They just go hand in hand. Both are my favorite divas of all time. So this is great that their match is on this DVD.

  8. One Of The Greatest ( Possibly The best ) Women Title Matches Of All Time…

Lita & Trish two Classics….Congrats…2both if it wasnt for them who knows where teh womens division would be

  9. It just goes to show that if WWE puts faith in the Divas, then the Division could be as respected as it is here.

    Amazing match BTW!

  10. The reason why i started watching WWE … LITA!!! imagine if WWE didn’t put lita on the dvd… that would be a huge slap in the face…..

Hope they put more clips of Lita and all the other moments she delivered the Litacanranna and Litasaults…. and etc

  11. @ FCW Divas trish can have all those babe of the yr & 7 title reigns but lita is the most popular diva of all time so far & is original…

go lita i think before her no diva did top rope moonsaults or spring board moonsaults…

id love for lita & trish to get hall of famed together <thats an awesome idea…

  12. I want both Lita and Trish to be inducted.. while still young…

Lita is the most popular Female wreslter…. fans have totally missed her unlike Trish who returns in the ring every year… so fans dont miss her that much

  13. one of the best matches EVAR!

  14. I hate how Trish and Lita consistently go hand in hand, becase people always seem to bash one or the other. When they’re inducted I hope it’s not in the same year because I’m tired of people always comparing the two. It would be a travesty. They’re two different people with unique accomplishments that are great in their own way.

I’m happy Lita’s on it, even if she was just the ‘daredevil’ Diva from 2000 to 2001.

  15. I think she would have been the 7 time Champ had she not broken her neck, but anyway.

According to Mickie James-(From article on trishstratus site), The obsessed fan storyline was meant for Mickie and Lita, but ofcourse she tore her knee up before that could happen. And then the love traingle stuff happened. But anyway, Congratulations to Lita! She’s also the reason I started watching WWE.

  16. @art1e no, no, no if we want to talk about the most popular diva of all time, go back into the 90′s and listen to the reactions SABLE, got she is the most popular then came trish and lita

  17. Wow congratulations to Lita! This is a huge accomplishment. I’m very proud of Lita and Trish Stratus.

  18. This is the best Women’s match in the 00′s that I have ever seen. Miss these girls!

  19. This is great news! :)

Can’t wait to see this match in HD!

  20. “Can’t wait to see this match in HD!”

It won’t be in HD. WWE started taping in HD in January 2008, and they keep anything before that i in its original SD form.

  21. this two woman especially lita will always be my favorite female wrestler of all time. this two woman showed ALOT OF PASSION and the Lenghtly HISTORY behind their feud was just one of the greatest i’ve witness in female wrestling world. future hall of famer indeed.

    epic win!

  22. @ art1e alundra blaze, bull nakano have done moonsault before lita actually.

  23. I remember this match well. It’s placement in the main event spot is still so bizzare to me because everything else regarding the build up, the match itself, and the follow up afterwards was really nothing out of the ordinary. I would love to know what made Vince decide “Okay, we’re doing this,” and why it has never happened again.

  24. @chrisP I don’t know why EXACTLY that Vince decided to do it but I would say that the storyline being very hot, the reactions to them very strong, them being reliable performers and able to pull it off, and the fact that it was Lita’s hometown / she was winning the title probably helped. :)

  25. I love Lita but the truth is, I never really bought her as an outstanding high-flyer when she’s wrestling women. I think it has a lot to do with her size. I’m not saying she’s overweight or anything but I do think that her height and her built compared to the rest of the girls make it hard for most of them to take her moves especially the Litacanrana that was never really used on any of the women during her 2003 + career. Plus, she was never really very agile.

However, I am glad that the WWE still chose to include her in the DVD. She may not be the best wrestler but in ways that, in my opinion, cannot be taught, she was able to get people to pay attention to her. She just had that pull on majority of the fans. And she had presence. So, good for her.

  26. TrishMelinaFan: I understand what you’re saying… however, I think that the combination has always been a force to be reckoned with. The mere fact that they are two opposite women with so many career parallels make it a viable venture for various wrestling fans.

Remember the thread concerning Melina being compared to Trish Stratus? In that thread, people discussed the importance of the “Lita-factor” and how Melina lacks that one particular diva that is the anti-thesis of her to really live up to the label as the next Trish Stratus.

Granted, Lita and Trish are very different but I think the mere fact that they came almost at the same time with almost similar circumstances has sparked that connection between them and people can’t help but draw into those parallels. Plus, I honestly do not think that the two would’ve been as successful as they are now without the other.

I understand your frustration but I think that it would be very hard to separate Lita from Trish or Trish from Lita because some of the moments of their careers capitalized and the way their tandem-rivalry attracted both sides of the wrestling fence. :)

  27. I wanna see a “Trish and Lita: The Rivalry” DVD in the future.

  28. typo on the last paragraph: “careers capitalized and” < "careers capitalized ON." Apologies.

  29. Amen to The Crying Light. People loved Lita in the beginning because of Trish, and fans loved Trish in the end because of Lita. Whenever Lita was in a match, it was more exciting if the match was against Trish. No offense, but Lita vs. Stacy would never bring crowds to their feet. Their tagging days were also one of the highlights of their career. It was the pinnacle of the “let’s settle our differences and kick ass” moment in their career. I do hope they get inducted in the same year 15 years from now. The fed off each other’s character and thrived.

  30. After watching this match….what we are getting to see nowadays is not women wrestling :(

  31. I AM SOOOO PROUD OF HER…..THAT’S THE ONLY THING I CAN SAY

  32. “@ art1e alundra blaze, bull nakano have done moonsault before lita actually.”

Yup. And had a string of matches that were head and shoulders above this one. Don’t get me wrong. I’m glad when the WWE gives any female performer their due. But there were tons of women performing great matches with crowd support long before either Trish or Lita. Anyway, congrats to Lita!

  33. “WWE could repeat this with two other Divas, if they put as much time, energy and effort into them as they did with Trish and Lita during this time.”

@xfrenchkiss I totally agree with you. I actually always thought Melina and Mickie James would eventually grow to become the new Trish and Lita (but that was back when they were first starting out). On paper, today’s WWE’s women’s division could rival the division of Lita and Trish’s era if WWE booked them properly. Put Beth Phoenix, Jillian, Gail Kim, Natalya, Melina, and Michelle McCool (yes, I don’t see Michelle as a “model Diva” anymore; I see her as a wrestler) all on the same show and you have a kick-ass division… unfortunately, WWE will keep pushing the likes of Eve and Layla over them.

  34. As for her “High Flying” style and matches, I really liked her and Essa vs. Kaientai on Sunday Night Heat. A lot of people don’t realize she was getting massive ovations and “Lita” chants before being a part of team xtreme. When the 3 of them got together, it just made them all more popular. And although I agree Sable was over, she didn’t retain her popularity when she returned. She was just another pretty face in 03. Her return got a huge reaction because of the shock factor but after that; it was like, who cares? Lita was over her whole career. As a face or a heel. That’s not an easy task for a woman in pro wrestling.

Anyway, if I was to put in segments of her high flying days, it would have been
    Essa – Lita vs. Kaientai
    Team Xtreme vs. T&A – Trish(Heat-Elimination Tag)
Lita vs. Dean Malenko (Lightheavyweight Championship)
Team Xtreme vs. Dean, Perry, and Eddie (on Smackdown)
And just some clips of her high flying moves.

  35. One of the comments say that the Obsessed Fan was suppose to be for Lita…

EFFFFF….. I WISH THATS WHAT DID HAPPEN.. cause mickie is a huge Lita fan

i feel sad now.. cause I loved Lita like… she was the reason i started watching WWE… and I would have loved her to have gotten what Trish got in that time… feel so sad… and she could have been paired with Ashley and still be face…. God…. I feel sad….

  36. I always thought Trish was overrated and so was Lita in a way (and Its hard for me to say this, cause Lita is my favorite female wrestler of all time).

The true is that both Trish and Lita wouldn’t have been so great if they weren’t on screen rivals. Like someone said, Lita was loved because she beat the crap out of Trish when Trish was an heel and Trish wasn’t hated anymore when Lita turned heel.

I also agree it would be great to have a DVD about this two women.

  37. Jamal: I understand your sentiment. However, we have to consider the fact that maybe, the WWE chose this because Lita was the only diva (at least the only one I remember) to be built as a high-flyer. Some women were built as strong competitors, all around athletes, submission specialists, etc… but I think Lita was the only one who was really pushed to be a high flyer consistently until she injured her neck and was forced to tone down. Of course even after that, you still have JR saying stuff like “Lita has yet to unleash the full extent of her aerial arsenal.” Those things helped solidify her as the high flying diva.

I’m not saying she’s the best. God knows Gail Kim alone can already “out-fly” her by a long shot. But to our generation… if you say “high flying” diva, Lita would always be the one to come to mind if you witnessed her early career. And because of all the drama surrounding her neck injury, that bad bump when she nearly killed herself, and the number of Hurricanrana’s she did to men, you can’t help but associate her with aerial tactics more than someone like let’s say Gail Kim or Alundra.

That’s just my opinion, of course. ;)

  38. Whoever it was that said the Sable thing, yes she was more popular in her heyday, but again, whoever said the thing about Lita being over her whole career was right too. Also, people fail to recognize that Lita wasn’t as popular as she was before when she returned, an Trish wa getting the same sized pops as Lita was when both were face.

I know neither one would be what they are without the other, but just out of simple respect WWE should induct them separately. Dort of as a, “Ok, I know you two made each other but we know you’re two different people and have each done great things so you should each have your own, sole moment in the spotlight” type thing.

Crying Light: I understand that completely, but I think for ONCE if they’re going to be honored seperately it should be in the Hall of Fame.

  39. I seriously don’t think Trish was getting the same pops as Lita even after Lita returned. Now, I’m not turning this into a debate..Trish Stratus is one of my all time favorites too, I love her personality and can’t help to love her work because she put in 110% each time. With that said, to say she was getting pops like Lita is silly. She’s popular and you can’t deny it. But I think her ovations were only bigger in Canada..and sometimes not all the time. Lita’s pops were crazy huge! They rival Cena’s today which is quite impressive for a female. And I don’t think Lita’s ovations were less bigger when she returned. I dare say, the whole WWE as a whole just wasn’t as popular as it was back in the Attitude Era, so understandably; the crowds weren’t as hyped as they used to be. But check out Lita vs. Gail Kim in Florida(Mohegan Sun Arena), Lita’s ovations were crazy!

And I can relate to that-obviously because I’m a huge Lita fan-
When Trish came to the ring I got happy to see her, interested.
But when Lita came I got excited and glued to the TV, I wanted to see what she would do next…I think that’s why she was the most popular. Because she had prescence and because she was exciting to watch.

BTW – Trish Stratus reminds me of Sandra Bullock and Lita reminds me of Julia Roberts. ;)

  40. I honestly think people tend to say Lita got the biggest pops just becase she was most popular at the start of her career. If you go back and watch Lita’s pops weren’t nearly as big as when she first started with WWE. And to say she was getting main event level sized pops when she came back is silly. And her pops were the same size as Trish’s when both were face.

  41. @TrishMelinafan I disagree 100%. But alright, you’ll stick to your story and I’ll stick to mine. And I’m not saying it because she got huge ovations from 2000 to 2002. That also bull anway from my observations. You fail to acknowledge the fact that WWE AS A WHOLE was no longer as popular as it was before. I mean seriously, your comparing an era(The Attitude Era) where everyone had storylines from top to bottom. exciting storylines big stars, it was a group effort. Not that it isn’t anymore but I’m sure we can all agree there’s a significant decrease in storyline activity; especially for the divas. And 2003 was not a great year …Lita’s Return ofcourse, was a highlight. I’ve never seen a crowd go crazy like that for a woman performer in WWE. I 2004 was a little more exciting, who didn’t enjoy Orton vs Mick Foley at Backlash? That was some good stuff there. Except ofcourse, Orton vs Edge in a long ass boring match at Vengeance. But anway…it was the company as a whole that lost popularity. Not just Lita lol

Anyway, maybe we were watching a different show lol. I was also at Beamont for a house show in 03, and again Lita got a much bigger ovation.

  42. Lita will always be known worldwide as the BEST female wrestler ever in the wwe, I am an Indian and wwe here is HUGE… it gets monster trp’s even when live cricket is on here, which is like a religion in India, If anyone asks any damm person here in India about who the best female wrestler ever was then everyone says Lita.. She has made an impact on people that lasts till date and will forever be, Love her or hate her one cannot deny the fact that Internationally she is the BEST and the MOST POPULAR female wrestler ever in the wwe in people’s eyes..

  43. 100% Stratusfacti0n….D:

  44. I went to the Raw 15th anniversary show and let me tell you the audience went crazy when Lita came out and TV doesn’t do it justice. After the two went in the back there were a lot of fans chanting “Lita”. Trish got a great pop as well but the fans were more excited to see Lita. I heard Lita was very nervous about coming out because she thought she was going to be booed out the building.

  45. I remember when Lita did a suicide dive and won the title. We really need to see some more Divas like her.

  46. well, everybody says that LITA is their reason why they started to watch WWE……………same goes with me!!!

Its time that Lita have some recognitions and the like. i hope that WWE would rehire her and show the “divas?” of today what a DIVA is like!!! LOL!!!
