WWE Celebrates Michelle McCool as ‘Flawless History-Maker’, Pays Tribute to Women’s Championship

WWE.com has a new interview up with Unified Divas Champion, Michelle McCool, speaking on her historic title win at Night of Champions. Speaking on there now only being one championship for the Divas, she says:

I think it opens up a lot more opportunities. It’s sad that it won’t be the Women’s Championship we are holding, because there’s so much prestige with it. But who knows, Trish Stratus retired with it a few years ago – maybe it’ll come back again. It’s an absolute honor to be carrying the championship on my shoulder. It’s a proud moment.

She also comments on what it feels like to be up there with the likes of Trish Stratus, Fabulous Moolah etc., noting that she is humble in real life:

Believe it or not I’m really a humble person. To hear my name spoken in the same sentence as those women is a true honor to me. Where do I stand in history? That’s kind of hard to tell – that’s really up to the WWE Universe.

As well as the interview, WWE pays tribute to the now retired Women’s Championship with a photo gallery of all the former champions. Check that out here.

Erin and I had the opportunity to interview the one and only Trish Stratus last night and got her thoughts on WWE retiring the belt. Keep an eye out for that later today.
