Former WWE Diva, Angela Fong aka Savannah worked an independent show over the weekend and a video (minus audio) has surfaced. GBPW, the promotion she worked for, released the clip via YouYube. Check out Angela’s match against Randi West below:

And thus, a new independant iva was born! =-3 I’m very proud of her sticking to wrestling even outside of WWE, besides Lena Yada I don’t think many women besdes tose 2 have even done this.

I really enjoyed the match. Angela is without a doubt the diva who I really wanted to continue in the independents even though she had all the reason in the world to just go back to modeling. I think it really speaks for her passion that she’s willing to give up the glam and recognition of WWE to do what she loves to do. Lena only did one match, and with Angela winning a title, I feel this shows she’s around for the long haul as she will have to defend the belt. So happy that she continued wrestling and she did awesome in the match.

This was a good match. Glad to see Angela sticking with wrestling. Also, I read on the youtube description that they are working on getting the video fix and that they will repost the match again with audio and graphics. I was just wondering if you guys are gonna repost this post again when the better version becomes available.
now this is what i call a true heart for wrestling. No other diva who has been etiher released or fired before coming to the main roster or they were there for short period of time still compete in other promotions .. other than TNA. Lena yada who went on to continue her career and also is btw an awesome rookie after leaving WWE. Angela still has alot left for her in the future and hopefully keeps working indies to get much more known and hopefully get signed by TNA. Now courtney taylor & penny cash yeah those are the divas who couldnt care less about wrestling except to get on TV and model in photoshoots, because if they really cared for wrestling then they would at least be wrestling in smaller promotions.

3. I think Lena Yada is going to debut in Wrestlelicious as Ninja Yada so maybe they could pair her and angela fong and have angela be Shaolin Fong. (just a teensy bit racist but it would still be cool to see)

Couldn’t you say the same thing about Cherry as you did about Courtney Taylor and Penny Cash? While she certainly wasn’t a model turned first time wrestler when she joined the WWE Cherry after being released decided to leave the business instead of working in front of smaller crowds and for much less pay in the indy circuit. Do you think Cherry’s true passion for the business is equal to the passion both Courtney Taylor and Penny Cash have for the business?

I’m so glad to see her out on the indy circuit =) It’s a shame that WWE didn’t save her- They could’ve made a feud between ‘Savannah’ and Jamie where Savannah is jealous that Jamie took her spot as announcer on NXT- I mean c’mon…
They have Kaitlyn feuding with Vickie Guerrero; AJ and Maxine (somewhat)- Having her would’ve been SUCH an asset to NXT- I’d personally love to see her in the ring with Naomi and AJ-
I just hope she doesn’t stop wrestling independents while she’s with the MMA Dance team thang. She DEFINITELY has a lot of potential.
to bad angela got fired she is really good in the ring and the girl get getting better.she is way better than some of the plastics in wwe .hopefully she well get acknowledge in the indies.

@LaceyVonErichFan I agree with you about ‘Courtney Taylor’ and ‘Penny Cash’ as well as Maria… Obviously they weren’t in it for the wrestling. In my opinion, they weren’t “Stars” anyways. I liked Cherry’s character and everything, and it’s sad that she didn’t continue. It’s a hard industry to be in, and if you don’t love it- you won’t last. It takes a mad toll on your body- and even more on your mind.
I wonder- out of the NXT3 Divas who is just in it to become a “movie star”
We KNOW that Naomi Night and AJ Lee are in it for the wrestling. Jamie has the passion and the mic skills- so we’d have to give her time, too.
I’m not a fan of Kaitlyn, but with her background and the fact that WWE loves her (so she’s not going anywhere- at least she’s put in a STORYLINE- unlike most Divas on the main rosters)
I feel like Aksana’s background could set her up for a good career- but I feel like she and Maxine don’t have the passion for wrestling.
Naomi & AJ: DEFINITELY Main Roster material
Jamie & Kaitlyn: with more experience, I feel they could be great Divas
Aksana & Maxine: Manager material (I’d say put Aksana with Santino & Kozlov and put Maxine with Zack Ryder or something)

@alexl467 – I do believe she has said MANY TIMES she would love to get back into wrestling, however she is focusing on her degrees since she gone back to school or university, or something like that.
Didn’t Nidia do some indy stuff when she got released? I believe Jackie Gayda did some indy stuff as well. SMH at the hate on this board. Anyway the WWE really messed up firing Savannah. She is so talented and is a good wrestler even though she didn’t do the right thing and go through the indies first.

I didnt include cherry because she does have a heart for wrestling because other than WWE she worked in smaller promotions before being signed and i remember reading on some wrestling source that she would always get back in the ring if she was able to but had other things to achieve. But courtney & penny were really young they could of at least gone to an unknown indy circuit if wrestling was something they loved but they only dreamed of being a WWE “diva”. I know that if i ever got released from a wrestling promotion before getting on to a main promotion that i wouldnt give up right there to something i enjoy to do and is my life.. i would try to get booked for other matches around the wrestling world and keep going. But for women like Trish and Lita, its a different story. They thought they had a good run in the wrestling world and thought they should retire but would get inside the ring anytime WWE wanted them to meaning they do care about wrestling.

why would someone work @ small independent wrestling shows for 1/2 the pay of one of their modeling gigs? if they already went through hell in JUST WWE developmental, and getting cut, why would you continue in the indies? Not like your name has any star power cough*lauren jones*cough. so it doesnt make sense your hating on them, they gave it a shot, and got crapped on.
Omfg my baby Angela is still wresling yay this was a good match i’m so happy for her glad she’s still pursuing it she’s 25 young started in 2008 OMFG i see big things for her perhaps to TNA or a stint in Shimmer yay
*tears of joy* to see that Angela did in fact come away from her WWE experience with a desire to continue wrestling. As low as her pay would be there, I’d love to see TNA pick her up. She should be a dream come true for them: great wrestler, smoking hot, solid/well practiced charisma & mic ability, very young, spent the last two years+ of her life exclusively being trained to be television-ready and not associated with WWE at all since they barely used her at all for anything.
i cant remember this, but does anyone remember why she was released in the first place??
@ Similar situation to Alosia, she did a topless scene without telling WWE.
They claim it was because she flubbed her lines when interviewing Wade Barrett, but that wasa just an excuse to fire her for being topless in a movie.

i dont hate i dis – like but i always liked courtney taylor, use to be my favourite FCW diva till she left and your a downfall to be honest because WWE isnt everything TNA is as well and if they actually cared for wrestling then they would of tried alot more to be noticed by them and or be re – signed by WWE.

…Um you do realize she was working as a valet and as a wrestler since 1999? If she decided to quit wrestling after getting wrestled to work on her future than that’s her perogative, she’s been in the business since she was 24 when these bitches were still going thru puberty.. so sorry but you can’t compare her to Courtney Taylor or Penny Cash.
Anyways…I hope she continues to wrestle and truly experience the independent scene, for someone like her, a model who got signed to the biggest wrestling company in the world with no former experience, it would be a huge eye opener for her to see these so-called ‘other’ girls that have been struggling for years on end to achieve that exact opportunity that she got effortlessly. Savannah can only improve if she sticks with it, which imo I hope she does because if she can fine tune her skills it would make her a much larger asset to a place like TNA or even WWE if she gains their interest once more. She already has the looks and some popularity, to be a great wrestler on top of that will take her very far (even though she kinda already has been to the top lol)

Cherry started on the indies guys. She left cause she said that indy wrestling was down. Funny cause WSU, JAPW, Shimmer, MLW, NWA, TNA, and with how many indies WSU is working with she would have a ton of work.
Also Maria is still doing indies. Lena left Wrestlicious and from what I know has only done one indy show. If you really love something you will do it in the right places and not the wrong places. WWE is the wrong place. Can’t watch NXT without getting sick.
