Instead of following up on the feud going on between Natalya and Lay-Cool at the moment, WWE opted to go with a six Diva gimmick tag match. Go figure. This week, the team of Eve and The Bella Twins face off against Alicia Fox, Maryse and Tamina. But this is no ordinary battle, oh no! From the geniuses that brought us ‘Diva Bowl’ last year, comes the ‘Divas Cup’… except, there’s no cup in sight? Cheapskates! Check out the match below:
The babyface team makes their entrance first, sporting Manchester United uniforms, to a chorus of jeers from the crowd. I’m told this is because of rivalry between Manchester United and Liverpool (which is being represented by the heels). I’m not really a soccer fan, so this was completely wasted on me and the majority of Americans watching at home.
Out next are the heels, and apparently Tamina missed the memo for this match. Doesn’t she know that they’re supposed to be ‘sexy’ soccer players? She looks like she’s an actual soccer player! *shock horror* All jokes aside, I kinda like the fact that Tamina doesn’t try to be as overtly sexy as her counterparts. I think it makes her come across as a more serious competitor. That said, she really stuck out like a sore thumb coming down the ramp with Maryse and Alicia. The Divas take their places in their respective corners, Mike Chioda signals for the bell and the Diva Cup is underway with Eve and Tamina kicking things off.
The two lovely Divas lock up and Tamina get the upperhand, muscling Eve into the corner and laying in a kick to the midsection. The (not typical) Samoan beauty tries to follow up with a running splash in the corner, but Eve evades and strikes back with a few kicks of her own. Eve goes to whip Tamina across the ring, but Tamina blocks it. Realizing she’s outmatched in the strength department, Eve abandons the attempt and lands a kick to the head on Tamina. Eve goes for the Irish Whip once more, but Tamina reverses and lays her out with a Samoan Drop for the nearfall.
Now in control, Tamina drags Eve to her corner and tags in Maryse, who takes Eve down with a kick for another nearfall. Maryse stays on top of the former Divas Champion, keeping her down with a few piefaces, before locking in a rear chinlock. Eve manages to fight to her feet and out of the hold and lays Maryse out with a gorgeous step-up enziguri.
Dazed and confused, both Eve and Maryse stumble to their corners and tag in Brie Bella and Alicia Fox. Brie manages to duck a clothesline, and takes Alicia out with a flurry of strikes. Alicia tries to turn the tide with her patented tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, but Brie reverses it into a crossbody for a near fall.
Giving her opponent no time to recover, Brie hits a kick to the gut, followed by a jumping facebuster. Brie goes for the pin, but Tamina makes the save for her team before being neutralized by Eve. Maryse tries to sneak in a cheap shot, but the ref catches her. Nikki comes charging across the ring at Maryse, but the referee catches her too. While the ref is dealing with Nikki, Maryse comes back in the ring and gives Brie a French Kiss (No, not that kind!). The official turns around, sees Maryse in the ring and gives her a firm talking to, but while he’s distracted Nikki rolls Brie out of the ring and takes her place. Despite looking right at them when they did it, Alicia doesn’t realize The Bellas have switched and pulls Nikki to her feet. Nikki reverses Alicia’s suplex attempt into a small package and picks up the win for her team.
I’m usually not a big fan of the random, multi-Diva tag matches. Even less when they’re gimmick matches. That said, I didn’t really have a problem with this match, aside from the name. The action between the six girls was good, it had a decent length considering what kind of match it was and we got to see some girls we don’t usually see on TV. I was especially impressed with Tamina. Tamina sticks to what she’s comfortable with and is good base for the girls’ flashier moves. I’m not saying she’s the next Moolah, but I like what she brings to the table.
If I had any complaint, it would be the lack of follow-up with the Lay-Cool/Natalya storyline. This feud is the hottest thing going with the Divas right now, so I’d like to see WWE stay on top of it. I’m not saying they should have Nattie have a match with member of Lay-Cool, because that’s getting pretty stale now, but both Lay-Cool and Natalya should be actively participating in their respective shows to build up some momentum for Survivor Series. Hopefully, we’ll get some more development in this feud this Friday on SmackDown.

I guess this was a breath of fresh air a little bit , cuz we already seen Natalya defeat Michelle & Layla , and we seen Lay-Cool beat Natalya. So another singles match feature Lay-Cool-Hart would have been rather Stale.
Although I would rather have had a backstage segment with them , where Natalya is having a interview about her match at SS , saying how she is finally going to win , then Lay-Cool could have attacked her…I would have been satisfied with that , but oh well…

Great time but boring match. Im officially anti bella twins, thanks WWE for ruining them for me. Still have hopes for the rest of the roster except for kelly and the bellas who got irritating. The WWE should replace the bella twins with the blossom twins from OVW who actually are real wrestlers. The only reason i don’t hate Rosa so much is because the WWE don’t have her win against talent.
I’m hoping for a Tamina & Eve match because i saw some chemistry between the two. The Laycool & natalya feud is pretty boring because of the way WWE aren’t putting so much into it. The only thing that’s so great about the feud is Natalya is finally in the spotlight but we have the same thing every week with the same segments and boring attacks that always end with layla escaping from the sharp shooter. WWE should just give up on their division because we rarely see them putting effort like TNA do with their division.

I hate how WWE always gets stuff wrong; they tried to be clever by having the Faces wear Man United shirts, only for Cole and Matthews to do their research and realise most of Man U’s fanbase is from people outside Manchester. Silly thing there.
Onto the match, it was decent, yet Maryse’s offence like usual was rubbish and why did Nikki not do something more than just switch to tick Brie off? Are they dropping the heel turn?
Onto a segment where Natalya WAS involved, why didn’t they do something interesting with THD instead of them just having a clean loss? LayCool could have attacked Nattie, so then Smith or Kidd (whichever could be turning heel) could have blamed Nattie. The only explanation for this is because Layla was on the SD! tour, yet surely at least Michelle could had interfered?

Good Match, Tamina and Eve were def the stars of the match, with Tamina’s samoan drop and Eve`s enziguri, but The Bellas Twins, Maryse and Alicia all did really good as well showing that they can wrestle just as good, so a very solid match
But on a side night, with the rumors about which divas are safe and which are not, i couldnt help but think, and after watching last night match. Tamina does stick out, like Steven said, which means she dosnt have the diva look,so it worries me that when they do release, i think she wll be first to go, UNless The Uso`s start to get a push and then it might secure her spot, fingers crossed

I like the chemistry between Tamina and Eve. Theres a vid on youtube of their match from the uk tour it was pretty good theres a spot where Tamina gives Eve a headbutt it seriously looked like they were both knocked out haha it was awesome!

I think it would’ve better if they just had Eve vs Tamina unstead of this gimmick match. It would’ve been exciting since we haven’t seen them fight eachother in singles, these two were really the stars of the match IMO.
I was glad I didn’t have to hear the ramblings of Laycool last night, I didn’t need a bigger headache lol. Most likely we’ll see them and Nattie in a segment or some sort of match next week.

I think Gail Kim and Melina would have been much better than the Bellas in this particular segment. As for the match, it was ok. Tamina was the only one on her team to hit any REAL offense. And Im mad at why this seperation and animosity between Bellas are on NXT. Maybe thats a reason why I was so annoyed by them tonight. But the hardest part for me is watching my poor ALicia as a jobber :(

Another good write up bro. The comment about Tamina missing the memo is probably false. I guarantee you that Johnny Ace told her to “cover up” because she’s not the Swimsuit/Fitness Model Cookie Cutter Type like he only wants to hire and he thought that Tamina would “damage” WWE’s image of what a Diva should look like. In layman’s terms Ace thinks Tamina is Too Fat to pull off the Sexy Look. That’s Bullshit ! of course, but look what the company/creative did to Mickie James last year with the Piggy James storyline. I’m afraid that Tamina is going to be one of the first current contracted Divas to be released because she doesn’t fit Johnny Ace’s Diva Mold. I hope that I’m wrong, but she’s only used “sporatically” on WWE programming. If creative doesn’t find a storyline for her by the end of the year, she will be released in early 2011. Bank on It !

Well….it’s good not to see Nattie and Lay-Cool,this feud have get boring!(Sorry,but is the true,every single show,we have Layla or Michelle vs Natalya)
But,that match was exactly what i expect.The Bellas making the “Twin Magic”.In the past,i used to like it,but,oh please,i can’t see they doinn this again!I HATE IT!Why can’t they fight,like any other Diva?Why they always have to cheat to win a match?
Please Bellas fans,don’t think i don’t like them,i like,but i can’t see they do the “Magic”to get victories against DIvas,that are so much better than they,like Alicia!

ok, so after watching the match, it’s weird that Alicia didn’t see that. But I wish the heels of the match would have won.
It’s nice to see Tamina in the ring. And I love that all of their shirts were different. Alicia tied on the side, Maryse tied in the back with that cute little thingy tied on her leg and Tamina’s not tied at all. They all looked great.
And if I could declare my love for Maryse one more time, I would. And I just did. Call me, guuurl

I think Tamina, like Nattie, can get by w/o looking like a model because of her heritage. I do think she could use some more time in FCW, but she has improved as a wrestler the last few months.

Eve and Tamina gave me this cute feeling in my stomach, Tamina really impressed me. I’ve never been a fan of Tamina, nor that fond of Eve but they both did great – these 2 girls could put on a really good feud! I didn’t like Maryse and Eve… Maryse was pretty sloppy, and at one point she over selled. I was hoping after the match, Nikki would attack Maryse, Alicia or Tamina to create a little bit more of a feud, please WWE do something better with Nikki.

Maryse was awful as usual but thats nothing new shes looks & no REAL talent…tamina doesnt have to do sexy she looks powerful so she doesnt need to show skin shes muscle like beth & nattie who dont dress the way the other divas do but yes taminas walk to the ring showed she was awkward walking down to the ring…
