It’s twice golden for Lay-Cool.
First, Lay-Cool were awarded ‘Knucklehead Moment of the Year’ for losing to Mae Young on ‘Old School’ Raw, then Michelle McCool won a Divas battle royal to become the ‘Diva of the Year’.
Did the right Diva win the ‘Diva of the Year’ award? Vote below:

Definitely given to the right diva. It’s a way to keep her relevant while keeping the belt off of her. I’m all for it. And besides, no other diva has come close to having the year that LayCool has had. No, I’m not a Layla or a McCool mark, I just give credit where credit is due. Well deserved, in my opinion.
the whole division revolved around her this year…it only makes sense she won. at least she’s not champion still, yet she’s still important because she won that. it might as well have just been given to her though like the rest of the awards because she wins everything so its kinda obvious she’d win lol. I do think she deserves it though, its not like she was in the spotlight and had no talent or personality or anything, quite the opposite, really.
Hell yes the right person won the award xD congrats michelle (:
I think it’s overdue. McCool should’ve won the slammy last year, but of course WWE always screws that up. I definitely think McCool deserved it. People will probably be angry because she wins a lot of things or they’ll say it’s because of her relationship with Taker. Either way though her and Layla have carried the women’s division up until recently when Beth returned and Nattie stepped up to the plate.
The only problem I see with it is that Layla has come a lot further than McCool so I would’ve liked to see her win it. But lets be real they’ll claim the slammy to be both of theirs. Either way it’s better than giving it to someone random who hasn’t done anything over the year like what happened last year with Maria.
It’s no surprise as there was really no chance of them using the award to build up another heel because WWE isn’t interested in building up anyone else. I would not be surprised at all if she is the one who take the Divas title from Natalya.
Did they need to give them both Slammys? And while Michelle and Layla definitely had a banner year, since the award was up for grabs in a battle royal, they could have elevated other divas with it in various ways. So now Melina’s heel turn is going to happen abruptly next week rather than be built upon for a few weeks.
As much as I Don’t like Michelle McCool she do deserve this award.
I don’t think it was… It’s to advance in the story line but I think Gail or Melina or Something new like Eve .
plus how would you know Melina was a heel tonight..? All she did was chew gum.
@ryanmvs- Melina wasn’t heel tonight, she will be on the heels team on next Wednesday’s Tribute to the Troops. There needs to be an explanation, so either they are turning her heel at the PPV or on Raw the next night.
It’s pretty funny when people talk about them carrying the division. Of course, they do. Who else gets their mic time and push? If you enter a contest and no one else is allowed to enter, of course you’re going to win.
NO…The only reason Michelle has had all the success shes had is becuz of The Undertaker…shes annoying on the mic and her wrestling skill is stale! This award should have went to someone like Eve, who trys to improve and trys to show us something new every time she steps into the ring…plus it would have been a way to elevate her into a feud with the new heel Melina to see who moves up the ladder in the title hunt!
Or it could have went to Layla for her improvement over the year, as a way to start a wedge between Michelle and Layla and have those 2 feud over the number 1 contenders spot! That would be interesting!
I think the right diva won. What other diva had the year that Michelle did? At least they didn’t determine who was the diva of the year like they did last year.
I just saw it as them building up the Beth/Laycool feud. Cause now that we only have one belt and it seems Nattie and Melina are about to feud over it, they need something for Laycool to hold over Beth.
I’m NOT a Michelle McCool fan and even I think the right Diva won. She was ridiculously happy, too. Of course, it doesn’t hurt she’s married to the Undertaker…oops, did I go there? Me thinks me did. Digressing…
On a semi-related note, I was jumping for joy when I noticed that Alicia lasted longer in the ring tonight than Melina. I like Melina but Alicia’s ma gurl!
With Michelle McCool burying the Diva division all through 2010 the WWE might as well make it a hat trick and also give her a Slammy. They purposely took the category out of the fans hands to control the results.
Should she have won? Well, all I can say is if there’s only one name on the ballot, does it really matter who wins?
I also don’t like Michelle McCool and wish she hadn’t won but I admit she is deserving winner. I even voted yes although Michelle is one of my least favorite Divas.
I never knew that Michelle was with The Undertaker and I find it intriguing but I’m not so sure you can accuse her for being successful on that condition. I like a lot of the other Divas more but Michelle McCool is on almost every show and she held the titles with Layla for so long and seems to be WWE’s favorite Diva. I’m glad that Melina didn’t win and though it would be nice if one of my favorite Divas won (Natalya, most deservingly) , I can’t say I’m too upset about the results. I was pretty sure Michelle would win anyway…
In the context of everything that had happened this whole year in the divas division, Michelle deserves it. I really can’t imagine it going to anyone else.
Yep. Michelle was one of my choices for who should win it, so I’m glad that it went to a deserving diva such as Michelle who has been in the majority of all of the most memorable feuds this year and once again made history. Michelle has pretty much one of the top Divas of the division for the last past few years, so it’s about time she won a DOTY slammy. And, if everyone puts aside the “hate” they have for this women, who really has had a better year – or even as great of a year – as/than Michelle. The only person I see being her competition was Layla. Melina and Beth had pretty decent years, but were out on injury a lot and Natalya’s top Diva spot has just begun in the last past few months. So, congratulations Michelle! (The decision could’ve been way worst!)
Michelle is one of my candidate for “Diva Of The Year” (the other are : Eve, Layla, Beth, Melina and Nattie).. She deserve it because she did so many things that made Divas division more interesting (Like Unification Title and “Self Proclaimed Champion”)..
she deserved to won this award.
LayCool has dominated all the year 2010
Many Divas deserved to win it, I hate McCool however she did deffinatley deserves it. She is on SD or Raw or whatever almost every single week, she has a huge role in the Divas devision as do Layla, Natalya and Beth. It was highly expected. All of her matches are and I quote “FLAWLESS!”. Yes, she is over used… so what? She’s an excellent worker. People moan about Kelly being overused, and add on to hating her because she isn’t a great wrestler. Lets be reminded we do have Michelle McCool who is also overused, the diffrence is McCool is a well rounded in ring worker.
i would’ve preferred if somebody else won it. for instance, brie bella and them having nikki get jealous – furthering her supposed heel turn. or melina, to make her relevant again with her upcoming heel turn. michelle was the obvious choice, i prefer being surprised, but as she has been featured wrestling every week non-stop and often twice a week, i guess she does deserve it?
From what I gather, she deserves it because she did the most and was the main woman in the division? Well, that would be fine if wrestling was a shoot and she actually beat everyone in real fights, but it’s not. WWE decided to push her and not push anyone else, so of course she did the most. What if that person in 2011 is, say, Kaitlyn? Would she deserve the award based on WWE deciding to have her win most of the time and always be in the title picture?
@ChrisP well since WWE is the one giving out the award yes she would.
the award is as worked as everything else is so in the since of WWE she was the Diva of the year
@chrisP – Personally, I think McCool deserves it because she wrestles really well, she gets great pops and her matches are always up to standards. Other girls did deserve the slammy. Layla, Beth, Alicia, Gail and Kelly instantly spring to mind. Layla inparticular. She’s imrpoved so much this last year, and to that so has her fan base (I won’t lie, I think this could be due to her being McCool’s BFF). However she isn’t exactly on McCools level is she? And Beth probably would’ve won the slammy, if she wasn’t injured. WWE had big plans for her and Laycool. But due to her injury, this was passed onto other girls like Kelly, Tiffany and Natalya. Before her injury, she was top dog along with Laycool. And Alicia, Gail and Kelly. All girls work their asses off on tours and work themselves to their fullest. Michelle won due to the fans, but it was as predictable as Kaitlyn winning NXT because we see her more then any other Diva. I can’t speak for everyone, but I think she’s won because she has the whole package. She’s smart, sexy and powerfull……………and her air time does help haha.
+ sorry for the long comment xD
“Personally, I think McCool deserves it because she wrestles really well, she gets great pops and her matches are always up to standards.”
She does not get “great pops”. That’s simply not true. She is notorious for being a heat-killer. She’s certainly not the only Diva to do that, but no one else is given anything and she is given a lot so she has no excuse.
“well since WWE is the one giving out the award yes she would.

She would deserve it, but imagine the reaction. Do you think you be seeing A. “Well, Kaitlyn was the most prominent figure in the division, so she deserves it” or B. “WTF, Kaitlyn can’t wrestle!” I’m guessing it would be more B than A.
@chrisP – I disagree, Michelle is a heel. People love to hate her. Michelle has had some great pops this year due to the faith breaker.

The WWE live audiences love to hate people like Vickie Guerrero, The Miz, or Wade Barrett. Michelle gets silence.
@Aksana
I agree it was kind of obvious that Kaitlyn was going to win NXT because we saw her the most and that MIchelle McCool was a heavy favorite to win Diva of the Year because she had the most airtime.
I can’t wait to see Kaitlyn dominate Lay-Cool. Kaitlyn would crush either Layla or Michelle McCool in the ring and I hope she gets some assistance to start a tag-team feud or she just gets some matches and starts destroying Divas. I’m only worried about her against Beth Phoenix or Natalya, they should beat Kaitlyn every time. Kaitlyn might lose a few matches at first, but she will definitely be a powerhouse once she gets going. Go Kaitlyn Go!
@chrisP
The audience doesn’t care for the current diva heels. If we were in the attitude era then maybe so but the audience find the divas boring and rarely pay attention to them. So no current heel except for Vickie who isn’t a wrestler gets a crowd reaction. Maryse may be the only diva heel who gets a bit of a reaction but it’s still nothing.

That’s true, but the difference is that Michelle gets the chance to talk and show off her character while the other girls do not. Everyone complains about the Divas not getting to show off their personalities, but Michelle does, yet the fans still don’t care about her.
Michelle should have won and i hate her guts. Oh well….
