Spike TV has canceled TNA’s secondary show, Reaction according to various reports.

The show which airs directly after TNA Impact had focused on enhancing storylines with backstage promos and vignettes highlighting feuds.

The final episode of Reaction airs this Thursday.

You can read ProWrestling.net’s report on the cancellation here.

Thoughts: Many were surprised by this decision considering the fact that Reaction posted a solid rating in its timeslot (11pm). Frankly, I am sad to see the show canceled as it did help massively in developing the Knockouts’ feuds with vignettes and promos etc. I would say that a lot of the success of the Mickie/Tara feud had to do with Reaction. All we saw them do on Impact was brawl; without that context on Reaction, I doubt this feud would’ve been as personal and heated as it did get. They dd a good job in telling a backstory to that feud on Reaction, explaining the bad blood between the duo. The Knockouts are getting more time these days on Impact, so we’ll see if this affects feuds and storylines in the long run. I hope it doesn’t.

  1. Reaction was fantastic, it got the Knockouts some extra time and the promos were great.

  2. such a shame. When i read the title I was shocked.

  3. TNA must find new TV program!!!

  4. That stinks that show explained things sometimes we didnt understand them and it was entertaining. But u know its over oh well :(

  5. tna is having badnews after badnews with tara jeff hardy hulk hogan ms techmisser tna needs to start having impact on the road tna cant charge fans to see the shows because thay already have to pay to get into the theme park i think reaction should have been part of impact instead of a talkshow

  6. Never cared, i’m glad they’re cancelling this pointless show maybe they’ll think on bringing in another TNA brand.

  7. Wow I’m so pissed. Now there will be no storyline progression for the Knockouts. The Velvet/Sarita feud will remain a mystery with Sarita just hating Velvet because Velvet can’t beat her…………which makes no sense

  8. This sucks. I liked Reaction and found it added a lot to the storyline. I enjoyed watching the Knockouts bitch about each other and it really seemed real to me. It’s a shame that they’re canceling it because it did wonders for promoting Mickie James and Tara. I hope it is a brief abortion and that they will bring it back ASAP.

  9. Really disappointed by this decision. ReAction really helped storylines and was a very interesting format.

  10. Reaction cancelled? Now how will we find out the ending of Impact each week? ;)

Honestly, it was only a matter of time. No one was going to sit through an hour of talking and interviews after they just sat through an Impact that was more promo than wrestling (and the ratings proved that).

  11. If they canceled Reaction to start airing Xplosion, I’m all for it. I’d rather get to see those matches than a bunch of talking.

  12. “Vice President of Communications David Schwarz told Brian Fritz of AOL Fanhouse that SpikeTV has plans for additional TNA programming to replace the recently canceled “Reaction” show.”

maybe Xplosion?? I will still miss ReAction though, because of the way it further explained storylines and hope it returns someday.

  13. It’s a shame. I don’t want it to end up being like WWE because that will make the feud less entertaining with all matches & not many explanations.

  14. If they make a seconded TNA brand.. They would need more superstars. which means more money..

  15. it’s a shame. reaction was great for filling in the gaps in storylines and feuds. hopefully they do replace it with xplosion, though, as it is a bit silly america doesn’t get that show.

  16. If they make a seconded TNA brand.. They would need more superstars. which means more money.

Why do they need another brand? TNA just needs to expand beyond Impact by having Xplosion, which would focus on the; KO Tag, TV and X Division, would be great. Impact would be the; TNA, Tag and KO divisions. Of course, none of these titles would be exclusive to each show. They’ll be some flip flopping with the KO and midcard titles getting time on Impact ever so often.

I still hope TNA gets around to making the KO exclusive show that they’ve been bouncing around for years it seems.

  17. I never said the needed another brand. I meant to reply to Macho Madness Quote about how they might air diffrrnt TNA programing. and I assumed that meant a new brand. but why would you air a different brand directly after the 1st one..

  18. I love the new brand idea (though I highly doubt TNA will make it happen). But of course, what will international viewers have to watch exclusively if Xplosion becomes a ‘proper’ show?

Funnily enough, besides for two matches and a few promos, about 70% of Xplosion just recycles parts of Reaction (or TNA web content, ex. Spin Cycle).

So they’ll have a programming void to fill both nationally and internationally.

Loved reaction ;-; , the Knockouts were so great on it (most of the roster for that matter). Really hope TNA does replace it with something decent (and Knockout related).

  19. If Spike have cancelled it then I doubt it will be replaced by anything TNA related. If TNA had any sense they’d have produced an all-knockouts show by now but the reality of it is female wrestling is not that high on their priorities especially after the disaster of the cage match rating (which IMO isn’t really the fault of the girls in that match as it had never been built up as a main event placement, before Trish and Lita main-evented raw they were paired up with HHH and The Rock in main events etc Steph and Lita was when Steph was built as a main segment villain etc so to just suddenly stick this match in that slot was foolish…..but hey, just my opinion)
