Trish Stratus spoke to IGN about the upcoming series of Tough Enough during a recent visit to the show’s Simi Valley set.
When asked about her current favorite Diva, Trish voted for fellow Canadian, Natalya:
“She’s untapped,” Trish smiled. “Fans are starting to get to know her more and more and I’m just waiting for the day where she goes out there and really can do her thing because I don’t think she’s been given the opportunity to really get out there and show everybody what she’s got.”
With Sunny going into this year’s Hall of Fame, Trish says Chyna should be next:
“I think Chyna should be next in because she did a lot of stuff to bring attention to the women’s division itself and just presented women as a different thing,” Stratus said. “I think fans were conditioned to see women as eye candy for a long, long time and she really broke the mold with that.”

Thoughts: Natalya was finally given some spotlight last year but that quickly came to an end at the Royal Rumble in January. Like Trish, I think there is certainly a lot more that Nattie can offer in the ring and as a character. What Natalya has more of, in my opinion, than any other Diva is likability. She could be just as popular as Trish, but it all comes down to the opportunities available for Divas today as opposed to in Trish’s heyday.

That could be said about a lot of the divas tbh.
First off, why is Melina tagged when she’s not even mentioned in the artical? lolz Secondly, I do think Chyna should make the HoF for sure, but NOT before Miss Elizabeth, she deserves it more than any other woman right now. But that can easily be solved if her & Savage get inducted togethe next year, give them the spotlight they deserve together. And finally, about your thoughts, this can be done with any diva if they put in the effort like they did with Trish, Lita, Mickie, etc, but they won’t, and because of this, the likes of Eve, K2, and yes, even Natalya will NEVER be as big as Trish, and I believe this is because they DON’T want it to happen, but thats another discussion for another comment. =-P
I think she’s being too modest- Trish probably should be the next woman in the HOF…I also agree with her about Natalya; she never got a decent chance w/ her title run (and they blew it with her and Melina, wasting a heel turn- it could have been a great feud)…

I like that Trish can look past personal differences(because Chyna didn’t like her) and accept and acknowledge that Chyna deserves her place in the HOF. Although to be completely honest and I’m not just saying this, I think the Diva Dirt Legacy award is far more valuable(at this point) then a HOF award by WWE. Especially when they’re inducting Drew Carrey among other jokes.
The Diva Dirt Legcy award will build up value if it recognizes true women wrestlers like Alundra Blayze(Madusa) and Bull Nakano. If I was a woman wrestler, I would strive for the DDLegacy Award more because it’s voted on by real passionate wrestling fans and enthusiast who can recognize true talent when they see it.
As for Nattie, I just feel bad for her. It’s her time to shine and it looks like WWE are busy with other stuff and the girls aren’t important. Sigh.
I was never to big on Natalya’s Title regin after a while , I believe after the Tables match against Lay-Cool , she just went down Hill from there….we could have seen a awesome fued between Natalya and Melina but we ddnt….
Altho Natalya in the beginning of her title regin was good , I agree with Trish Natalya has still not proven herself. IMO Natalya getting back the Divas Championship and fueding with Kong , will put her over even more. You know how big that would be for fans of women wrestling ? & Even for the people out there who dont watch womens wrestle but know Natalya from The Hart Family …..that would surely put her over….IMO

It can be said with a lot of divas, but like someone said earlier Natalya has a likability to her. The fans can get her. It’s the WWE that doesn’t. Natalya still has yet to reach her prime. I think all of the Divas, actually but yeah.
WWE can do so much more with Natalya. Hopefully her time comes soon, again. Her first title reign was pityful.
Natalya deserves a spotlight,Beth needs her back,Chyna,Trish,Lita and,Yes,Victoria (Tara) along with Molly Holly and Jazz need their acknowledgement coming with a spot in the Hof.Even if Tara wrestles in TNA nobody can deny her WWE legacy as nobody can disagree to the fact she was making a fool out of herself a bit before she retired from WWE.Molly sacrificed her hair and Jazz…..well she just broke a lot of bones.But Trish is right.Noone else should deserve a spot in the Hof from the divas division more than Chyna.She was the most dominant woman in this industry.She competed with men with great ability and easiness.She is to be highly respected.I hope she’s the next hall of famer.
As for thde current divas,as I said Natalya deserves a spotlight and should get hers back or she will end up like Tara (jobbing for Kelly or the Bellas).I hope after wrestlemania Layla becomes a face so we could have a feud between her and Michelle and besides that I wanna see Eve actually do something more and Melina stop being so poor in the ring and in character.Where is the screaming,devious,famme fatale personality she used to have when she was the manager of MNM?I think WWE owns diva fans some redemption for the mess it has caused with the divas’ storylines…

completely agree with you. i’m not a fan of kelly kelly, but she has the potential to be one of the biggest divas of this time.. just look at her over on smackdown recently, main-eventing, getting huge pops and the fans completely behind her.. it does totally feel like wwe don’t want her to be TOO big (because she’d outshine the men, perhaps??) which is a shame, especially as she should’ve been a shoe-in for the wrestlemania match.
it’s geat to see trish recognise chyna like that, i do find it a bit ironic though as she says chyna was the one to “break the diva mold” when to some extent trish was the one to resurrect the whole t&a thing.
commenting on natalya is weird as i thought trish said in that dd interview a couple months back that she didn’t watch wwe programming any more? *shrug*
@vampire13melody – i agree that divas like Victoria, Molly, Jazz, Lita, Trish etc should all be recognized but i think its a sad fact that the WWE probably wont acknowledge them as, like you said, Victoria was made a laughing stock and a jobber and Molly was used sparingly and not to her full potential towards the end of her career as was Jazz, and even the way that Lita was treated wasn’t the best however these women could be acknowledged in other ways outside if WWE by awards such as the DivaDirt Legacy Award or other awards which I really hope they do as they don’t get enough credit for providing the fans with many years of great matches and great entertainment during the “Golden Period” of the WWE Divas
@ Born This Way – How do you know about Chyna not liking Trish? Just out of curiosity as i have never heard about them not getting on before? Chyna also never got on with Sable and was well documented after arguing on a chat show. The clip can actually be seen on youtube of Sable accusing Chyna of using steriods after Chyna was completely disrespectful of the womens division and the womens title and was extremely arrogant to Sable and attempted to make a complete fool of her. However I do feel that she should be inducted into the HOF but I don’t see it happening since Chyna and Vince do not get on at all nowadays.
i agree with trish natie if wwecould used her in the right way she could been a force in wwe along with gail and beth phoenix and melina who i think that wwe forget about them and as for chyna she defenatly deserve a spot in hall of fame but i sorta doubt it well happen anytime soon.
@TBP Fan – Lita and Trish both talked about this during a radio interview last year. They were asked on their true thoughts about Chyna, Trish said that Chyna seemingly predetermined that she didn’t like her for whatever reason.
I suspect Chyna may have assumed Trish was only about tits and ass and not about the business. There were rumors even before that on various sites about Chyna not liking her. She also was guarded with Lita too, but eventually became friends with Lita.
I think Natalya is technically just as good as a wrestler as anybody, woman or man. I am glad that Trish gave her some props and I totally agree that Natalya was not given a good reign as champion. Here’s hoping she’ll win again because she fully deserves to. Perhaps a heel turn for Natalya to win the belt back from Eve?

Nice to see Trish dish out some props where they r certainly due. Natalya is a marvelous wrestler, such a shame the WWE hasnt capetolized on her talent yet.
I agree, I think the Diva-Dirt award is much more special and meaningful. Id prefer Chyna to receive that award, over the silly HOF that now is a complete joke now that Sunny was inducted before other “obviously” more deserving divas.
Although Im a total Chyna fan, im not so sure all her history making moments have anything to do with the womens division. Her best work was obviously in the mens division, shes the ultimate poster child for “women can be just as good if not better than the men” scenario.
However truth be thold she actually hurt the womans division, she completely annihilated the entire womans division, and seemed kinda awkward and silly to see her compete against other females. Even Ivory and Molly vs Chyna match seemed extremely unfair.
I think I see Chyna as one of the boys, she just so happens to be a female. LOL

@Freaky-Lucha-Dolls but then you see matches like chyna vs molly & smackdown where it seemed like a fair fight..also wwe booked for strong because they wanted it to seem like only lita could beat her…
chyna deserves a hof spot she did more then most woman have in wwe,she made history & broke the mold for what females have to look like…i respect chyna for the fact she wrestled men took their bumps & they didnt have to give her special treatment…
also its sad that nattie wont be used too her full potential but thats like most wwe divas..im hoping with kong coming in if she makes the main roster & doesnt get released that the division picks up & nattie,beth,gail,melina get to show what they can really do…
I was dissapointed when Nattie lost her belt to Eve…I was SO EFFIN HAPPY With Nattie when she WON the belt! She put on great matches against LayCool and GlamaHart n Tables matches was awesome! I think Natalya along with LayCool managed to get the Divas Division POWERED UP! Enough to get Awesome Kong, enough to do a Tables Match! I saw the backlash pple gave Natalya, things like, Shes Boring, Same Old Ish, and whatnot. Anyone who gets in the ring with Natalya gets a great match out of it!

Eve is a good rookie champion. And im proud of her and her improvement =)
Chyna for HOF..YESSSIIR!! And Na Trish for HOF no not yet. Not that she isnt a Legend, but shes too young lol shes only 36. I want Trish to have fun in the WWE have fun with Tough Enough. HOF just sais OLD AGE to me lol
