Welcome to the fourth annual edition of our Diva Draft feature here at Diva Dirt! If you haven’t been with us over the last couple of years, the premise is simple — each year, we make several predictions/suggestions for the WWE Draft in the lead-up to it taking place. This year’s Draft is set for Monday and promises to shake things up once again. Check back over the next week leading up to the Draft for our picks!
LAYLA TO RAW
Flawless Ms Lay El, we just can’t stand to see you bullied no more! With LayCool imploding and Michelle McCruel coming out to play, maybe it’s time to separate the now former BFFs by moving Layla to Raw.
As the situation between Layla and Michelle escalates, we’d have the pair decide that SmackDown isn’t big enough for the both of ‘em. Lay and Cool would duke it out in a ‘Loser Leaves SmackDown’ match at Extreme Rules, with the loser (Layla) being moved over to Raw the next night. This match would serve as a finale to the one and a half year run of LayCool, going out with a bang with a big-time match — and separate the pair so we don’t get a boring 6-month rivalry between them on SmackDown.
Over on Raw, Layla, now a babyface, could hopefully be bumped up to Divas Title status in a feud with the Bella Twins. Layla, she of much spark and personality, is just the dynamic babyface champion the Divas division needs! Her quirky humor reminds me of one Trish Stratus and well, there’s a reason why she’s the first ever Diva Dirt Legacy Award winner. Layla certainly has the tools to be a funny, engaging babyface because she has a likability about her.
How about Melina vs Layla? That too would be an exciting fresh feud with both Divas on an even keel, as opposed to their previous matches.
Or you could just keep her as a heel but on a new show. There’s certainly got to be enough Divas that dislike her due to her antics in LayCool and may want to pick a bone with her. Eve Torres, Natalya and Gail Kim are all options to be paired with.

i am thinkin layla and michelle will both stay on smackdown, and continue to feud and then eventually get back together

50/50 imo, do I want Layla on Raw? Of course I do. But WILL she be on Raw? Thats a dfferent story. But fingers crossed anyway. =-)

The “Loser gets Traded” idea is a bit inspired- but I’d rather see Layla win against Michelle, then have her move over. There is an out here in that the trades don’t take effect until after the PPV, so you could trade Layla tonight, have her give Michelle what for at SD this week (since she’d have nothing to lose anyway), then challenge her to a match at the PPV, which Michelle accepts.

I love the storyline you propose. Layla moving to Raw would be great for her career, but Laycool shouldn’t be broken up without an angle. Switching her with no explanation would just be anti-climactic.

I don’t think moving Layla to Raw would be a good idea. Honestly, she’ll do nothing more than get lost in the shuffle. It’s pretty clear that Kong will debut on RAW and I fully expect her to capture the title ASAP. It’s also clear that the Divas title is exclusive to Raw for the time being. If Beth gets drafted, which as signs point to, she’ll quickly become the main babyface and #1 contender. Nattie will be her back-up, and Kong will stand alone as top heel. That leaves no place for a newly-face Layla.
I say she stays on Smackdown and takes the fight to McCool. She’s been a sidekick from the day she debuted, and she desperately needs a good feud to put her over as a singles wrestler. Otherwise, the end of Laycool will be the beginning of the end of her WWE career. I don’t think anyone on DD wants that!

In all honesty I’d prefer it if Michelle would stay on SmackDown, and its not just so she can spend time with her cuddley Calloy either, but because she has been on there for years now, and if you draft a superstar or diva who has been on one brand since the moment the debuted, examples being Triple H, Mickie James, Rey Mysterio, andany others who made a true impact on their brand for more than 5 years or just under, moving them over to another brand just somewhat kills that tradition and it just doesn’t feel right when they are on that different brand.
And before anyone says anything, no I’m not including Beth into that list, because she needed to move to SmackDown at the time since absolutely nothing was going on with her, and a chance of pace was nice. Although now I can see that she NEEDS to return to Raw, as does Layla, since I think she would benefit more for moving to the big brand more so than anyone else. =-)

I’m hoping Layla gets moved to RAW, her storyline with “Lay-Cool” is pretty played out, and she’s improved SO much since winning Diva Search…

I think Michelle would be great on RAW. RAW needs more veterans. Plus Michelle is the only diva who WWE push and her on RAW would mean more effort into the diva feuds and maybe longer matches.

i personally think layla should stay on sd, if layla gets drafted tonight it means it will abruptly drop the lay vs cools angle. and i have been waiting for a loooonnnnngggg time to see lay vs cools in singles feud! moving lay to raw would be good for her but i agree with @shannymac, layla may get lost in a shuffle, with karma debuting all the main focus will be on her and layla will be lost in the crowd and i dont want that. also we’ve predicted beth will be on raw, so if beth is on raw that it means she will likely be the top babyface and feud with kharma so layla wont have a chance to be top face.
i personally prefer her on sd for the time being to have a awesome feud with mccool, and be put over by mccool and then maybe move to raw next draft. also with the draft new divas will be on sd which means layla can have other competition too.

also if a laycool member needs to be drafted it should be mccool, the woman needs it i think its time for a change for her. shes been on sd for 6 years a change is needed. kind like mickie did.
i know it doesnt seem like it can happen because of UT, but why not, taker is on part time schedule, and hes barely here for half a year, so michelle can be drafted! make it happen wwe! draft taker if you have too aswell!!!

I’m not sure if I want to see Layla on Raw, not yet anyway.
I think Layla vs. Michelle at Extreme Rules SHOULDN’T happen. Let the Raw girls have a spot on the card, while LayCool keep feuding. I want a big payoff match for these two, they deserve it. They can face each other at Over The Limit or maybe even at the June PPV. Then at that time they can do a “Loser Leaves SD” stipulation.
Basically, I feel like this Layla vs. Michelle feud is just getting started. WWE can do a whole lot more with it and I wouldn’t want to see it just end in two weeks at Extreme Rules.

I dont think Layla would be the right choice for RAW. Layla vs Michelle feud has just gotten started and to me, would be a buzzkill if it was just dropped like that. Plus with all the divas already on there and the limited use of character and in-ring work, Layla IMO would flounder there. SD is also the place where Layla got her big break so I would say leave Layla there cause Raw has enough divas that Layla isn’t needed.

Agreed. It would be like drafting Trish to SD circa 2003-2004. A very weird thought to imagine. McCool is the queen of Smackdown and forever will be the queen of Smackdown.

I’m sorry but this gets a big thumbs down from me.
LayCool have been the biggest thing in the divas division for the past two years, and you want to kill what could be an amazing feud in what, 3 weeks?!
Of course we don’t want them to feud for months, but a good 3 month feud could put a great end to this duo…they deserve a lot more.
What I would like to see is Michelle get drafted to RAW, and then her be happy she has been, and then get Layla drafted later on in the night, with her following after Michelle and a fight ensuing!

Michelle and Layla aren’t going anywhere in my eyes, yet.
With Taker definitely not moving, Michelle isn’t going anywhere. Layla’s fued with her has loads of life left in it so I doubt she’ll be drafted either. I expect Layla and Michelle to fued until maybe Summerslam and they have a Loser Leaves Smackdown! match. Layla would lose and then LayCool would be split.
That’s what I think makes sense anyway. :-)

Why do people need more divas on RAW? There’s 9 divas on RAW (10 if Kharma gets placed there) and 5 on Smackdown. I think Maryse, Melina and Eve should get drafted to Smackdown and Beth can be drafted to RAW (so it’d be 7/8 RAW divas and 7 Smackdown divas)

@naominightfan, I’m a huge eve mark and would love nothing more for her to go to smackdown. Its the place to be for the divas. But I doubt it will happen. And I’m not sure why everyone want beth and kong to fued first. Think about it. When a monster first debuts, they dominate. Putting that fued first will surely see beth get destroyed. But then again, kong killing a dominate force first will make her that much more frightning.

Smackdown is the perfect places for Layla and shoud stay there. When Beth & Layla drafted to Raw the only Smackdown Face divas are Kelly Kelly, Rosa & Kaitlyn. if that happend i never watch a smackdown diva match again.

I really don’t want Michelle’s & Layla’s feud to get cut off in the Draft. The ‘Loser Leaves SmackDown’ match is a great idea, that way their feud won’t get cut short but one of them still goes to RAW.

I’d keep Layla on SD. This is a feud that deserves time and build up. Having just one match between the two won’t feel good enough considering their history. I’d like a 3-way tag between Michelle and the Bellas vs Layla, Eve, and Nattie at Extreme Rules as a first confrontation match.
