Impact Write-Up (May 26th, 2011): Who Ordered the Knockouts With a Side of Crazy?!

I know. I’m late again this week. I’m sorry. I had it going really well there for awhile but my schedule has caught up to me again. It’s been a rather…odd week, to say the least. Anyway, last week, we saw practically every Knockout on the roster take a spot on the show. We even saw another return from another former Knockout, in a rather confusing way. Not to mention, Karen Jarrett got shoved down the ramp in a wheelchair. It doesn’t get much better than that. However, this week, that former Knockout has some explaining to do and you had better believe someone is demanding the answers. Plus, one of the resident crazies is going to be taking on the Knockouts Champion. Which one will it be? Strap into your straight jackets and hold onto to your bunny rabbits.

We start out the Knockouts action this week with a visit to the Impact Zone from Velvet Sky. Her music hits and she wastes no time on the ramp, dancing around. She’s got her mind set on something and she marches her little ass to the ring like she owns the place. I’m digging the jeans but the top…it’s gotta go. Anyway, Vel Vel is quick to get on the microphone and tell ODB that they have some unfinished business to tend to. That sneak attach shit she pulled last week don’t fly with Vel Vel so ODB needs to woman up and get out there face to face. We want to know what her problem is. Face to face. Now.

ODB is quick to hit the ramp and may her way down, clad in cute capris, a dazzled up beater tank and yes, heels. And of course, a flask is in her hand. She gets in the ring and Velvet asks if she now minds, since they’re face to face, if she minds explaining what her problem is with her. Just like it should have been in the first place. ODB states that her problem is about a year ago, she got a little phone call from management, stating she was no longer needed in TNA…err, Impact Wrestling anymore. How is that Velvet’s problem? We all want to know that. She starts rambling off potential thoughts she had in regards to why, her bad attitude, her wrestling ability or was it Velvet?!

Velvet immediately goes on the defensive, stating she doesn’t mean harm on ODB or any of the other Knockouts but somehow, everything is always blamed on Velvet. She’s always the go-to girl. Everyone picks on Velvet. But she’s sick of it! She’s earned her spot in TNA and everything she’s earned, she’s worked her ass off for! How dare anyone say otherwise! ODB, always the quick witted, says only if Velvet calls working her ass off, laying on her back! Oooh! Those are some fightin’ words, buddy! But she isn’t finished! ODB goes on to say that she slept her way to the top and if she calls working her butt off, grinding her booty tang? What the hell is that?! I don’t even want to know the answer to that question. Honestly.

ODB turns on the hate and chirps at Velvet that she’s pathetic, all plastic’d up. With her little…err, big silicone. Velvet looks like she’s totally digusted and ODB starts mocking her, asking her if she’s going to cry and then insists on giving her something to cry about. She throws a hard left hand and knocks Velvet back, dropping the bitch word that is thrown around so lightly in Impact Wrestling. She takes Velvet down, throwing harsh left hands and choking Velvet, screaming that she likes it on her back. She is just on Velvet like she doesn’t matter at all in the world, beating her down.

Insert random crotch grab here.

Thankfully, after further humiliation and a random humping, security comes down and pulls ODB off of Velvet. The only remaining BP looks almost scared and when ODB gets off in the corner, she rips off her belt and tries to go back after Vel Vel with it. Luckily, she manages to get away and roll to the outside, while ODB is still scrambling with security. Velvet screams at her, asking her what her problem was and finally, we get the answer. Whores like Velvet are ODB’s problem. Well, drunks like you are my problem. Ahem.

“They tried to make me go to rehab and I said no, no, no…..”

Cue the creepy music that unfolds before Winter aka Morticia makes her way onto the stage. She steps up, looking like a bondage ninja and summons Frankenator aka Angelina Love. She slowly creeps out fro mthe back, dressed as only Angelina would dress and they make their way to the ring. Even when Morticia stops for a moment, Frankenator keeps going and crawls into the ring, her attention leaning toward her manipulator, showing off on the turnbuckle. You know, this just keeps getting more strange each week and I, honestly, am waiting for Angelina to get bolts shoved into the sides of her neck.

HARDCORE COUNTRY! Out next is the TNA Knockouts Champion, Mickie James. She bounds to the ring in her fringe and daisy dukes, hair pulled back in a cute curly ‘do. Frankenator’s eyes are locked on Mickie as she skips around the ring and you had better believe that Mickie is aware of it. Please remember that this match is non-title but this would definitely put Winter in the contender slot for the belt. Morticia gives Frankenator the okay to step out of the ring and she slinks backwards like a nasty snake, ready to strike at any moment. Ugh. Snakes.

We start with a very quick lockup that leads to a back armlock but with a harsh elbow, Winter knocks Mickie back to her knees. Winter stays on her, applying a bit of an armbar then powers her down, going for a pin attempt. She barely gets the first count before Mickie rolls out. Grabbing handfuls of Mickie’s hair, Winter slowly pulls her up but Mickie battles back, only to get a suplex for her efforts. Into a bridge pin and it’s close but no cigar. Instead, while Angelina looks on like she’s eerily intrigued, Winter keeps her hands on Mickie’s hair until she gets dropped with a jawbreaker. A rebound off the ropes and into the sliding dropkick, shifting the momentum. But will it last long?

Winter shoves the champ into the corner but when she attempts to charge, she gets an elbow to the face. Knocked back, Mickie gets her legs up and goes for the headscissors takedown, railing Winter with a flying forearm. A nice single arm flapjack and Mickie kips it up, the crowd behind her. Angelina, meanwhile, is watching like a cat on the outside, just studying the action. I’m just waiting for her to sprout into some kind of creature. Haha.

Mickie tries to go after Winter but gets a rake to the eyes, lifted up for some type of slam. However, the champion is too hardcore for Morticia. She battles out and sets her up, going for a straight stand spike DDT. The pin, a three count and the champion has won the match. She locks eyes with Angelina on the outside for a moment, being watched like a hawk as she saddles up on the turnbuckle, showing off that proud gold belt. Winter, not so graceful, is on the mat with her lace eye…thing, over her mouth. She pulls it down and there is blood coming out of her mouth. Angelina sees this and her eyes widen as she slides into the ring, quickly going after Mickie. She nails the champion and knocks her to the outside, wailing on Mickie with rough kicks to the abdomen. Just relentless and finally, she picks her up and slams her into the steps like a ragdoll. Damn. Pretty sure that’s a bleeding elbow.

But, before she can truly finish Mickie, the attention shifts back to Winter and Angelina is crawling back into the ring. She rests her mistress’ head on her knees and glares toward Mickie, the one who caused all this hurt. It’s like a demon posessed, defending its master with no regard for anyone. Very odd but should this date back as far as they’re saying, I’m pretty sure Angelina was a dragon in a past life, defending the evil witch Winter. But that’s just my guess.

Thoughts: Poor Velvet. I seriously cannot stand a drunken drama queen and that is basically what ODB came off as this week. A jealous old bitch with nothing better to do than go after someone who stands a chance in the business. Now, don’t get me wrong. ODB is tremendous at what she does but she has never been a looker, that’s for sure. She could be but she chooses not to be so instead, she relies on her in-ring talent. Whereas, Velvet has the looks and potential to be really good in the ring. It’s a shame they’re bringing her back this way.

As for Morticia and Frankenator….there are no words. All these Knockouts done lost their damn minds. Until next week, my lovies! xoxo

What did you guys think about this week’s Impact? Tell me about it!

    winter looks really skinny…

  • Kharmaofficialfansite

i really disliked the fact that velvet was out of her “character”

  • GovernmentHooker _

I would of expected Velvet to stand up for herself. Make ODB atleast eat her own words but she didn’t do anything :/

I loved the DDT it was sold really well. Before I knew of Winter I always read and saw matches that she was really good but she appears to be quite green in the ring :/

Good Impact overall I dont quite get how Angelina gets a title shot just for attacking Mickie :/ She hasnt really earned it. She just attacks people cuz shes a psycho zomibe with make-up issues haha. But I’d like to see Sarita get her title shot, wasnt she number one contender? But then again people will moan about there being another Mickie/Sarita match :/

I hate how TNA is overusing fake pops and heat now, I mean wouldn’t the crowd have chanted let them fight? Or the front view of the crowd was dead basically so they wouldn’t have got that much of a reaction anyway, in terms of the Velvet/ODB segment, which is a shame because both did a brilliant job with the promo. And this can also be proven as they had to re-record this segment and the crowd weren’t into it as much, so how can they pop and react to the segment like that if they weren’t bothered? Looks like they look the fake reactions with the package they got from the SmackDown 2.0 re-branding set and equipment.

The same goes for the actual match, and I just wish they wouldn’t do the WWE style and do 4 minutes of forgetful wrestling. The only part that interested me about the entire part was when Angelina’s eyes opened up a few milimeters cause of WInter bleeding, meaning this shiz got real!

But surely they don’t HAVE to use pre-recorded crowd reaction to ‘TRY’ and get over their talent, especially when most of the people didn’t give a damn. Sigh, I WOULD normally say #Typical TNA, but this is just, *SIGH into Facepalm*

Oh and might I add one more comment… Save. Us. ROH.

  • bxradimus

I don’t think I’ve ever liked anything that Velvet has done in wrestling. She should be playing the sympathetic babyface instead of trying to act like a badass, because…come on, she’s terrible. Especially for someone who’s been in the business so long.

I’m glad to see ODB back. I might be in the minority, but I find her character refreshing and so much different from the typical women. I also am still loving the Winter/Love stuff. However, Winter has yet to impress me with her in-ring work. Ever since WWE, I just didn’t get the big deal. Her indie work was good, but I don’t know…she just seems…like she’s going through the motions or something.

  • beliEVEr

So uh. Well, Mickie looked good. ( : The rest of it was unforgettable to me. And, I’m not even really trying to be bothered with the whole Velvet/ODB thing. I do like that they’re starting something with Mickie/Angelina, that seems to be, IMO, the best thing out of all of this. Their last match was good. So, I expect good things out this.

Ignoring the level of camp in the Winter and Angelina love story or the fact it’s like a hybrid of Single White Female and Dawn of the Dead, it earns bonus points just for being so fucking weird. And I’m loving every second of it. Why? Winter is like a Kate Bush of wrestling and Angelina plays the sickeningly alt-beautiful android better every week; everyone is selling the story as if there’s truly conceivable sense in the supernatural melodrama of it all. He’ll, at least it’s original.

Yeah, Velvet’s been bouncing around as the go-to whipping girl since the implosion of the Beautiful People. And it’s really funny that all of her feuds seem to incorporate the fact she isn’t the best of wrestlers, yet when she’s emerged on top, it’s never really enhanced her reputation. (Madison Rayne and Sarita went on to win titles.) I’ve never been a huge fan of ODB, but I’m enjoying her heel work. She’s more laid back and you can taste a believable resentment in her character. It’s a flimsy way to begin a feud, but both girls will probably work the shot out of it.

Another beatdown on Velvet? Can someone pleeease script a fight back already? She takes one tap or shove and all the fight just vanishes. If, as Kurt Angle suggested, they are looking to build Velvet up as a potential title contender, then scripting her getting slapped seven ways from sunday every other week isn’t helping.

I can’t say I like the way ODB has returned, although, if they were looking for the complete opposite of Velvet, they’ve found her.

Angelina getting the title at Slammiversary seems unlikely, there’s no sense to it. Granted this is TNA (or whatever they’re called now) so sense in a story isn’t compulsory, but Angelina as champion doesn’t appear to further anyone’s story. At least to me.

  • wl75

Was that legit blood or did they just use a fake blood capsule so they could do the Angelina stuff?

  • BillyGP

but some talent like Mickie or Velvet dont need audio pops when they are over. When i go to shows Mickie gets loud pops.

Match was good for the time given also i think Mickie wants revenge for the attack so the match was made plus there two more tapings to build up to the PPV.

Side note on triple a just now they showed Jarrett talking bout the invasion.

  • BillyGP

    Rhawk with his anti-tna opinions.

    @adifferentsame
I agree. Even though Velvet has been gaining some victories lately she is still seen as a joke in the KO division which I think sucks for her. Also Velvet is not “sleeping with anyone to get to the top”. So I thought that line by ODB was ridiculous.

    @jacknife2058
I agree with that as well. Velvet is always getting attacked and beat up now and it is really started to come off as abuse. I know she was probably confused as to why ODB was mad at her but they still should have had her fight back.

I’m not really liking where this is leading but I’m willing to see where it goes.

As for Winter & Angelina vs Mickie. I’m shocked Angelina is getting the title and not Winter shot so I guess Winter’s revealation of why she’s protective of Angelina will happen at Sacrifice.

This has been a really weird storyline but it may be end soon since it has been going on since late October.

    Anyway good write up April.

  • Superstar77

I wanted to add that I just don’t like how Impact Wrestling continues to portray Velvet as someone who can’t succeed on their own. I also really felt bad for Velvet during that segment because she looked like she was legit going to cry when ODB said that stuff to her.

  • http://twitter.com/BroskiRomano Wesley Romano

Wow everyone is really harsh on the Knockouts today? How typical. =)

ODB is a beast compared to Velvet whos small and sexy, I liked how Velvet ran away from the ring looking concerned for her health..BTW VElvet Sky IS a badass in her own right!! Her promo was really great! ODBs arms are HUGE and her beating on Velvet I was like Noooo lol

I gotta agree with ONE Thing April said and thats that I dont like how TNA brought ODB back =(
She can be so lovable by fans yet they decide to bringer as a hater
ODB rocks too and bet their match is gonna rock. BTW ODB is fucken FUNNY lol

WHORES LIKE YOU ARE MY PROBLEMS!!!! BAAMMM!! Line of the night!!!

An yeah wtf Winter got mad slim!!! its those same Drugs Angelina takes lol
I remember Winter was a very large woman now she looks average sized…smh
    shes weak now
And the match was really good! Not as great as years ago but VERY good!
I did feel sooooooooooo fucken bad when I saw Winter bleeding from the mouth. Its one of those things that bothers me in Life. I cant see beautiful women Bleed. Its not right

  • Melina&Mickie4ever!

Didnt ODB leave because she wasnt happy with the way the knockouts division was last year ? I guess she’s been watching and saw its back on point , and they probably might use her again ?. Smh….

Anywho I thought the segement was kinda poor . Why would they go for ODB got fired because of velvet ? When she didnt get released ? So retarted , well at least ODB is looking better. I dont care if its her gimmick she is just so sloppy lookin to me sometimes. I cannot stand ODB…but I do look fwd to her and velvet’s fued.

As the Winter vs Mickie match. I loved it the ddt was pretty nice. I hope TNAstill goes down the Winter vs MIckie route and have Winter take the title from Mickie sometime soon. I do look fwd to Angelina & Mickie’s match at SA though.

  • number1AngelinaLovefan

Well nice write up first of April

and second of all i did not like the way Velvet didn’t do anything didn’t even figt back but she did a very good Promo. Angelina get’s a tittle shot i love it she wont win i bet but i would LOVE to see another Mickie V.s. Angelina the 1st match was so good

  • DIVAsupporter

the segment was ok.. loved velvets acting…. odb not able to explain why velvet was the cause of her release was stupid… and odb just mounting on velvet was awkward.. and some humping.. lol

the match was like…. i cant really remember anything except for the ddt and the bleeding wonder if the blood was real and what caused it?

  • mikeparis18

I’m ready for the zombie Angelina thing to end. I wonder how she will snap out of it.
The match was good and I thought the segment was OK,but I guess ODB just being their made it good for me.

Don’t get me wrong but does looks really matters over in-ring abilitys??? I don’t think so! you see most the Divas got the looks but do the fans give a damn about em??? offcourse not! and just so you didn’t know the most over Diva in the WWE dosn’t have the typical Diva looks and you know who’s that. And with IW giving try-outs to Serena and Melinie Cruse I don’t think they focus on looks anymore since they changed their theme to “Wrestling Matters”!

  • April

@laqisha: I give a damn about the Divas, just like I give a damn about the Knockouts. Truth be told, I find ODB to be an extremely attractive and strong woman but the way she portrays herself is a disgusting, dirty old mean ass. She has a beautiful face and I am definitely one of the fans for the “average” build. However, for her to come off as so disgraceful when it comes to someone with beauty and talent, it throws me off. If you choose to live your life a certain way or even be portrayed a certain way, what’s the point in being jealous of others? That’s my point. I find beauty in everyone and honestly, most of the people that most people find unattractive, I happen to find adorable. I just find it ignorant, the way this whole thing is being betrayed. It sends mixed messages and from a certain standpoint, makes absolutely no sense. But that’s just my opinion.

  • Rhawk

@BillyGP – PARTLY Anti-TNA, did you not see my comment about praising Velvet & ODB for their promo?

    This was one good IMPACT
