Yes… I went there.
I think it’s fair to say that this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw was nothing more than a big ole mess. Fourteen divas, one ring, and no time is never a good combination but when things end up with a chorus line or a kick line, or whatever the hell you want to call it, it’s just not good for anyone involved. I can only thank the wrestling gods high in squared circle heaven for sparing at least seven of the girls the utter humiliation of just looking dumb. As far as the other seven… well, at least three of them got a chance to redeem themselves on SmackDown. The war between the heels and the faces continued on this Friday and we finally got our six Diva tag team match. Natalya joined her rookie pals, AJ and Kaitlyn, to take on Tamina, Alicia Fox, and Rosa Mendes. Will the heels reign supreme or will the faces carrying their kick line momentum to another victory?
Like usual, we kick things off with the entrances and rather than just letting us see the face entrance, we get the heel entrance this week as well. Alicia, Tamina, and Rosa come out to Alicia’s music and they stand in the ring with their bitch faces on while the faces make their way to the ring. I also thank the wrestling gods for not letting me hear AJ’s theme again, and if all she ever does is tag with and use Natalya’s music from here on out… I’m okay with that. Anyway, the faces pose for the crowd and it’s decided that Alicia and Kaitlyn will begin.
Alicia attacks right off the bat by kicking Kaitlyn in the stomach and knocking her down with a stiff looking forearm. She tosses her in the corner and looks to bounce her head off the turnbuckle, but Kaitlyn gets a foot up to block. Kaitlyn fires back with an elbow, as well some other offense, and she throws Alicia into the corner padding. Alicia stumbles away from Kaitlyn and groggily turns around only to be knocked down with a clothesline. She wisely gets up, runs to her corner, and tags in Tamina.
Tamina and Kaitlyn lock up, with Tamina easily getting the advantage here. She sends Kaitlyn flying into the corner and the NXT season three winner smartly tags in Natalya. The gorgeous blond enters the ring and slides between Tamina’s legs. The surprised Diva whirls around and Nattie nails her with a dropkick. Tamina goes stumbling into the ropes and Nattie goes to use the adjacent ones for leverage. Rosa inserts herself into the action by getting Natalya’s attention, and that allows Tamina to recover. When Natalya turns around, Tamina slams her foot into the Canadian’s gut, and Nattie is doubled over in pain. Tamina follows it up with a vicious little headbutt and Nattie is sent to the ground. This gives the beautiful brunette a chance to work over those powerful legs of Natalya’s and she decides to try and weaken the left one.
And when I say left, I could mean right. I’m ambidextrous so I don’t really know the difference.
Anyway, Tamina snaps Natalya’s knee (not literally) but it proves to be a mistake because the experience of Nattie pays dividends. Natalya is able to turn Tamina’s wannabe submission into the Sharpshooter and she pulls the lesser experienced Diva to the center of the ring. She’s looking for a victory but Rosa jumps in the ring and attacks Nattie from behind. This brings in Kaitlyn, who is quick to dispose of Zack Ryder’s ex-girlfriend (still a travesty he was left off Raw this week, ahem). Nattie scrambles to her corner and AJ finally gets to see some action.
The little spitfire comes flying in with some pretty snazzy forearm shots to Tamina’s face. However, the larger, more powerful girl is able to shove AJ off. AJ bounces off the ropes and attempts to wrap herself around Tamina’s shoulders, but Tamina puts a stop to whatever it is that AJ is wanting to do. She simply falls back and crushes AJ, and she goes for the cover.
One…
Two…
Three!
Alicia, Tamina, and Rosa are able to celebrate a victory.
Welp, it wasn’t bad.
That said, it wasn’t good either. I want to reserve extreme judgment because some people are saying this match was horribly edited. Apparently there were digitals that showed different things happening in the match that was shown on television. I can’t confirm that because honestly, I don’t have a clue. All I can talk about is what I saw in three short minutes. A good minute of the match was used simply for ring entrances and the rest was action. Alicia and Kaitlyn worked well together and wow, Alicia just looked so pretty to me tonight. Tamina worked the majority of the match and against Natalya, she was solid. I would honestly like to see a one on one match between those two because I feel as if Natalya could bring out Tamina’s best. They could match power for power moves, and it could be a great contest.
Not really sure what else I can say about this week’s SmackDown. It went how pretty much how I thought it would. I don’t know if we can ever expect the girls to improve when they’re given so little time but all we can do is continue to support them no matter what. One day someone will wake up and realize that there are amazing wrestlers on the Diva roster and they’ll give those girls a chance to shine and make the girls who lack look like a million dollars. Look what happened when time was invested in Layla.
That’s basically all I’ve got this week, I’m afraid. It doesn’t look like we’ll have anything to watch at Capitol Punishment unless something is added at the last minute. I’ll be watching regardless but should we not have any Diva action on Sunday, I’ll just hope that we get something great come Monday.
Of course with a three-hour show, that probably won’t happen. Until then… Cryssi out!

Up just 1 mishap from last week with Tamina AGAIN on the dropkick sell and Aj tripping.
While the Samoan headbutt looks great, she needs to step up and show shes deserving of being a power wrestler. Someone doing simple, assisted bodyslams and jerk samoan drops to the smallest wrestler Aj, shouldnt be collar tie throwing one of 3 remaining fems booked w/ power offense, Kaitlyn (despite her experience limitation) If the justification for this is the void of any “force” from laycool/Kharma’s departure then of course its acceptable but forceD nonetheless.

I’m actually interested to see how this whole thing pans out. I’m a big fan of seeing the heel combination–for some reason, they just look really good together. I’m an even bigger fan of all SD! divas getting some air time!
Just gotta say though: my favorite part is when Alicia claps and yells “Hey!” to start the match. My God, someone give this woman another push!

Face it, the divas division is dying and its painful to watch:
Last year: we had AT LEAST one ppv match per ppv
This Year: Already missed out on Elimination Chamber and Capitol punishment,
The division was doing REALLY well at the end of last year and even from this first week of this year it was looking down, however that didnt last with the arrival of KHarma!!, but since she’s left its obivious that we are going to have to get this sort of treatment with the divas division again like we did back in 2009. But whay they SHOULD be doing is building up a solid roster so when Kharma does return the roster is strong and not all over the place

I’m not liking Tamina right now, she sucks at selling those dropkicks…
I am starting to see some improvement on Kaitlyn as small as it may be

No, she was outta position for the dropkick and also where she was to go afterwards just like last week.
the next spot proved it since she was trying to stumble backwards to the ropes to get back to center as Natalya intended on running the cross ropes back to her (b4 getting hit/distracted by Fox)

I’m Loving Alicia’s hair!!!!
at 4:27 am
Well, AJ is a very good wrestler but Tamina is so powerful, and she’s taller & heavier than AJ… poor AJ…. Nataya should take on Tamina
at 4:56 am
I was pretty impressed with Kaitlyn, at a pretty steady pace she seems to be improving and bringing new, strong moves in the ring. I think she’s coming along nicely, tbh. Also, not really feeling Alicia hair. I meant to say that in the Raw Redux, so I’ll just say it here. Also, AJ (whilst she is a good wrestler) is rubbing off on me the wrong way. I still like her as a performer though and think she’s as cute as a button. Uhm, yeah and Tamina did good and Natalya. Great match. I also felt like Natalya made Rosa look strong (even for just a moment) when Rosa hit her from behind. And, Rosa looked gorgeous. I love her with black hair. Okay, I’m done now – just little points here and there I had to make and yes, I agree that this was much better than Raw. I barely realized the time because this was such a relief and improvement compared to what was on Raw, so.

Tamina’s Samoan Drop looked more devastating than usually and I liked that. Although the match stringed together nicely, I still feel as though the entire division has no direction because it feels like when LayCool and Kharma left the division died and went to limbo. Makes me wish Jackie and ODB went to the wwe and started going PMS on the divas the same way they did on Velvet last night.
Quote of the Year: “Screw those skinny bitches!”

The Samoan Drop definitely looked devastating but it also looked like she could have hurt her opponent with it. I have a feeling that with her being so green she isn’t able to control her position and protect her co-worker while selling the move. AJ is lucky she didn’t come away with a broken rib.

My thoughts on the Smackdown match -
It was as quick as ever, but I shall look into the positives. Kaitlyn dressed as a street walker maybe, but doesn’t she have a stunning body? Her shape is so voluptuous and she has become an amazing wrestler. So much so, that I predict she has what it takes to become Divas Champion.
AJ is so fast, Tamina was brutal, but
her greeness shows. Natalya looked amazing and if the reactions weren’t piped in, I’m glad the crowd was solidly behind her. A Fox continues to channel Rihanna lol. Rosa is getting her groove on. Her and Kaitlyn have become such amazing wrestling divas.
Btw, A Fox was clearly the ring general for her team, love it.

true, she was the crux of this short match’s message of putting Tamina’s strength over even moreso than Aj – Kaitlyn sent the team leader Fox reeling for the tag and then she was beasted asap by Tamina.
beliEVEr Reply:

Agreed. I meant to add that, Kaitlyn’s figure is freakin’ amazing and her attires (especially the ones from NXT) always seem to really compliment her shape.
at 5:03 am
AJ is like a Rosita that can actually do something in the ring. Tamina is bigger and looks powerful but moves so poorly. Rosa is an interesting character, she has an intriguing look but is very hit or miss in the ring. She can come across as clumsy but I’ve seen her do quite well in a dark match with Layla toward the end of the LayCool run. Kaitlyn is a work in progress and both Natalya and Alicia are really superb.
For all of the heat that the Divas take, the depth of talent is certainly there and if given the chance could shine. The blame for the faltering division lies squarely in the laps of the creative department. By comparison, Velvet Sky receives a great deal of TV time and a long term, consistent push still doesn’t show anything in the ring that would exceed a Rosa or Kaitlyn for work and ability. There’s no shortage of badly written nonsense for the Knockouts but at least they are given a lot more time to develop their characters. With the same amount of access and exposure the Divas could be a really entertaining part of a WWE show. Too bad the powers in the E don’t get it.

I think Rosa just simply needs longer matches and put her in a lot of matches against Natalya. She has potential, I believe. People are really quick to write her off or say, all of the girls have talent except for Rosa. Which I find unfair. I think Rosa has potential to be better. I’ve seen her FCW matches that were pretty decent and some of her best work.

I thought the match was pretty good for it being short.I feel like if it had been longer,it would’ve been better, but of course the divas can’t have long matches *sigh* Anyways,I actually feel like the WWE is going somewhere with the Smackdown divas, having it be a 3-on-3 feud.Hopefully they’ll continue to run with it.

She’s a pretty good seller and judging by some of her other matches on TV and on FCW she knows how to perform and execute moves textbook style. that’s half the battle. But I agree she needs to amp it up a bit, learn to execute moves with a little more flare and pizzazz.

Check Kaitlyns following matches to see what moves she can execute and how well she executes them. :)
On youtube(not adding the links cause I think I’m not allowed to):
FCW: Kaitlyn Naomi VS Aksana AJ Lee
FCW 01/16/11 Kaitlyn vs Rosa Mendes
FCW 02/27/11 Kaitlyn vs AJ Lee
FCW 04-11-2011 FCW Divas Non Title Match (Kaitlyn vs AJ Lee)
and a untelevised match in which Caylee Turner is in as a heel while AJ is a face. ^_^

Not all matches are good but you can at least see how many different moves Kaitlyn already has pulled greatly.

Yeah, improvement & ability grading are always filtered by what they book for the matches.
Kaitlyn’s running attacks have always been great! I’ll say that her spear on NXT was the best from a fem in wwe or tna. The no-assist bodyslam to Rosa and the atomic drop/backdrop combo to Aj in FCW were good too. Norman Smiley, teach her your patented swinging bodyslam!
Raekon Reply:

You saw her powerslam to AJ when she bounched her against the turnbuckle? :) Awesome execution! Even the commentators were WOW. ^_^
This was on of my favorites of the moves Kaitlyn pulled next to her atomic wedgie bomb combo on AJ in their tag team with Naomi(which is a great match).
She can be the queen of the slams in all variations and combinations cause she is very talented and executes all the moves they are throwing at her greatly.
All they need to do is give her a chance to show her real worth instead of stucking her in the jobber position that can only do clothelines and take bumps. :/

@ Raekon (below):
Naw, guess I missed that spot.
Yeah I agree, all wrestlers w/ quads like hers that are big on slams & suplexes. I believe legs are what won her bodybuilding competitions.
True, it depends on booking opportunities. One recent FCW match wasn’t so spot friendly and saw Regal on commentary appropriately say – “She needs to capitalize on the power she has; she’s not doing it.”
at 6:33 am
I wish I could be more positive, but what exactly can one say at length about a match that barely lasts three minutes? They aren’t scripting Natalya very well as the mentor of AJ and Kaitlyn, and she over executes the Sharpshooter to the point it feels like a signature move than a deadly finisher. And speaking of which, I’m disappointed Tamina has seemingly swapped her top rope splash for a bland looking samoan drop. Overall, this was miles ahead of the garbage we got on RAW but at some point WWE need to pay heed to the mantra of Beyonce. “Who run the world? Girls!”
P.S – Alicia’s hair colouring is stunning (too much upkeep for me) but I really don’t like the cut and style of it. Bring back the wild and untamed mane, Foxy.
at 6:42 am
I just love Alicia Fox! Its so depressing to me that herself, Eve, K2, and Maryse can’t compete for the WWE Women’s Championship. In my opinion, these girls can add prestige to that belt. Fox is so refreshing to watch I have to agree and she would make a great Women’s Champion!
at 6:44 am
Forgot to say that Tamina displaying more power in their lock up was surprising. Personally, I’d have booked their interaction to be even, since they roughly have the sane powerhouse potential and physical build. That might have created a suspenseful thirst for a future encounter. Instead I suppose the direction feels more towards a rivalry between Tamina and AJ.

ur right in that Tamina is booked soo strong as to not bump for the dropkick, but she was clearly supposed to be bounced off the ropes from the force in order to align herself to receive Nat’s next running attack. Ask urself what was Natalya going to do if Fox didnt interfere?
Plus Tamina STILL went to the center where she was supposed to be if Fox didnt distract.
at 8:15 am
I don’t know about you guys but compared to the raw match we had, I loved this one. Most of all since they are keeping up with the small feud between the heels and the faces there.
I also think that for the little time they got, all girls did great. The selling was good, the executions were good. Nothing bad I could say about anyone.
Kaitlyn and AJ sold Taminas power greatly. Kaitlyn with the push back she sold and AJ with her punches in which she almost had to go down on her knees everytime because of the “force” she was going against. ^_^
I LOVE Tamina as a heel! Her build, her attitude and how powerful she can look at all times.
Too bad that Rosa got very little to do but by such a little time and with all girls trying to sell Tamina as a powerhouse there wasnt much one could do.
All 6 girls looked great. The only thing that was off was the pink “thing” Kaitlyn had under her attire. ^_^
I guess she picked pink because of Natalya though.
Really hope all 6 will perform next friday aswell and maybe with a segment or two in between to start a real feud.
If not I would love to see Kaitlyn picking her first single win vs one of the 3 Heels.
It’s not that she can’t pull some great powermoves. In her FCW matches she has pulled so many different moves that if you put them together you can have enough moves for 3 Divas to use. :p
I love her speed in this matches aswell cause in FCW the matches are partially quite slow most of the time.

there’s only 7 matches for this sunday… normally wwe puts 8 matches.. do you guys think a divas match would be added even un announced?

the edited out bit was just before tamina pointed at aj & it wasnt bad it was edited for time..layla & melina had one of their matches edited because right as they got to the ring an add break happened where they wrestled through it but wwe.com put the pics on the smackdown pics section..
this match was good nothing bad only afew good, why cant rosa do more whats wrong with wwe??.you’d think with her improvement at fcw & her last 3 matches on tv,they’d have her show what shes learnt…
tamina looked good which is good wwe is spending some time to build her up
that dropkick was meant to move tamina not drop her..also it was planned for i think ROSA to distract nattie anyway since that was planned.

The match was okay , short but okay. It was nice to see given the 2 minutes that looked botched. Sad how the divison is getting. Alicia’s hair is kiling me now lol Whatever she did to her hair last night she needs to change it back to being loose. Glad Tamina got the win though its nice to see wwe trying to build her up as a good competitor. The one thing i hate is the SD divas will never get a title shot unless on raw and that is the one thing i knew they would do after the womens title was retired. Unfiied Title my left foot. The champ could be on both brands ? Yeah right.
but Yesterday I spent about 2 hours watching some old matches from Attidude Era even further back 2000-2001. You can really see how the dynamic of the womens divison has changed since then. The crowd went from chanting names like Lita , Trish , Jacqueline to chanting nothing. I watched a 4 minute match between Jacqueline , Ivory and Lita or the womens title and the crowd went bonkers for Lita (Oh my). The match was awesome for only 4 minutes tho.
I wish we could get the crowd behind the divas like they did back in the days

The crowds always popped crazy for Lita, but I see what you mean. That was a good match. They did Sunday Night Heat and Smackdown a few months later. Jackie was stiffing the crap out of both of Ivory and Lita in SNH lol.
The Smackdown match was more entertaining. I think Smart, Sexy, Powerful applies to the Golden Era girls than todays.
Although I must stress, Kelly can easily out wrestle Ivory and Lita and out pop them. Kelly is a warrior, I love her. She works so hard. She deserves the damn Divas title.

Not counting the always awesome encounters between Jackie and Molly on the third tier shows, the matches back then are really not that different. Some are good most are downright awful. They each were consistent for the most part. The wrestling wasn’t Alundra Blayze/Bull Nakano good, but it was mostly okay. Sure some was bad, but they should be forgiven since they atleast were alot more memorable than today.

ok just my opinion on what you said,LITA is & will be the most popular female the wwe has ever had no woman in wwe will out pop her actually thats a fact…
kelly cant do a moonsault,a diving hurricanrana off the top rope..she cant even do a missile dropkick theirs no way kelly could “out wrestle” lita or ivory thats just impossible & crazy to think…both ivory & lita would out wrestle kelly blind folded their that much better than kelly….kelly not even a good wrestler…i guess you love her so thats why shes so amazing according to you..

Well I know Lita is more popular with the crowds than any diva, but… I’m simply stating that in today’s WWE. She would probably be relegated to Superstars like Melina, while Kelly would be booked stronger.
Trish might be the only girl that can walk into WWE and get her spot right back, but even so Kelly is just more lovable.

Respectfully, versatile is the last word I’d attribute to Kelly. Being commercially viable doesn’t automatically translate into actual wrestling skill or acting, two qualities of which Kelly is rather limited.

Gosh I think it’s funny that people give props to Kelly… she was one of the biggest reasons I stopped watching. The twins are another really sad thing to see. They’re all pretty but actual wrestlers they are not…. You mentioned 2000-2001 hearing fans chant for the women. My goodness go back even more and see that folks had legit respect. Madusa as Alundra in WWF was huge. In WCW they loved and cheered for her. Luna’s 1st go around in WWF where she fought Sherri was so intense and the fans ate it up! All in all the best era in women’s wrestling was the early 00′s w/ Jazz, Trish, Lita, Ivory, Jackie, Molly, Gail Kim, Victoria and even Nidia. When the Knockouts title was introduced in TNA was another really awesome time. Currently, however, I think it’s in a deep struggle to maintain it’s cred.

I like Alicia’s hair now, but the stupid pink thing needs to go. Loving AJ as always, and Nattie too. Not buying into Tamina; she’s awkward and clumsy. This is what I’d do. Rehire Tiffany! She was a great bump taker and had aton of potential. Put Kelly with Cena and Brie with Miz. Would get Divas more interest from the general audience. Give Gail a title reighn. Steal Mickie and Tessmacher from TNA. Mickie is great and Tessmacher has potential. Tessmacher and K2 have history and a team wtih Tessmacher, K2, Tiffany, and Eve would be interesting.
