Tara Talks About Winning Knockouts Tag Titles, Importance of Championships in Wrestling

One half of the new Knockouts Tag Team Champions, Tara, has written a new blog about winning the belts this past week on Impact along with Miss Tessmacher.

New Knockouts Tag Team Champions Crowned

Tara writes:

I want to discuss the Tag Team belts for a minute. I have been wrestling for 12 years, longer than any female in either WWE or TNA. But I am still a huge fan of the industry. When the wrestlers are watching the show backstage, and someone does some crazy maneuver, the loudest reaction is always from me. And no organization will give a wrestler, or superstar ; ) , the opportunity to be in a position to win a championship belt if they didn’t have faith in their character and ability. They used to kid me at WWE because I was so proud of my belt when I had it, and I would carry it around with me backstage. But after I won the tag team belt, I saw Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan watching the show backstage. I thanked them for the opportunity. At first they thought I was joking because I’m a veteran but I was still sooo excited about winning it.

I have heard it debated whether there needs to be a Women’s Tag Team Belt. And when I was training in MMA, I’ve heard people question the validity of a pro wrestling belt. But let me say this on behalf of Miss Tessmacher and I…we worked very hard to earn these belts. We love them. And every time that we put them on the line, you are guaranteed to see our best and get an unparalleled match. Because we’re the Champs : )

Thoughts: It’s so great to see Tara take such pride in being a champion. Sure, wrestling has predetermined outcomes but at the end of the day, the amount of titles you’ve held will always be a factor (not the only one, however) when it comes to how well you’re remembered. And to those wrestlers, championships mean a lot.

To touch on the topic, I just wanted to give props to Tara’s tag partner too. Miss Tessmacher has come a pretty long way in the ring in such a short space of time, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed.

i love her passion for the business…

  • Kaledrina

she’s always been so classy and it’s great to see that. i seem to sound like a broken record when it comes to the tag titles, but.. again, hopefully they get some much needed spotlight now, especially as somebody as seemingly respected as tara is holding one half of them.

completely agree on tessmacher. every model-turned-wrestler type has obviously shown improvement but with tesmacher she is literally improving in leaps and bounds on a week to week basis. hope she keeps it up and she’ll join my very short list of models-turned-wrestlers that i don’t think of as being “ex-models” anymore.

Congrats to Brooke and Tara. But as I can recall it, Jacqueline Moore has been wrestling way longer than she ever has.

    • art

jackie doesnt have a contract with tna…

      • _Bryan_

if you actually count how many years jackie has been in wwe and tna, shes only there for about 9 years

  • Kash Hunt

And to think, Layla, Kelly, and Tessmacher all began their careers as go-go dancers in a segment on ECW.

    • Mike in Like

My thoughts exactly. Now each one of them has experienced success. Layla having won the Women’s Championship, Kelly Kelly with the divas and now Brooke as TNA Tag champion. It’s hard to look back and see them as Extreme Expose.

“But after I won the tag team belt, I saw Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan watching the show backstage. I thanked them for the opportunity. At first they thought I was joking because I’m a veteran but I was still sooo excited about winning it.”

Hogan and Bischoff know that the tagteam titles are completely useless, and that they have no intention of using them anyway. Thats probably the reason why they were so surprised ;-)

    • laqisha

Wait…..Hogan and bitchoff books the show??? :/

  • Melina&Mickie4ever!

Tara has always had a passion for this buisness. Even when wwe turned her into a joke. I think every title win for a knockout or diva really means something. Shows all that hard work paid off.

I think this is one of the reasons why most divas/knockouts get a hard time from fans when they win the title , because its handed to the b cuz they were next in line , or because they are pretty , or because they are the golden girl and they have to get slapped on with the title 5,6,7 x. Everyone works hard , so everyone should get a chance. Nothing against Divas like Trish & Mickie who are 5 & 7 x Womens champs. But sheesh between those regins you had other divas two who wroked hard. They should have became champ at least once or twice. I mean thank goodness Natalya became Champ , I dont think no-one should have complained about that win , she worked hard to get to that title.

    • BillyGP

other women did become champion between Mickie & Trish reigns LOL

Its amazing to see the passion that she has for the wrestling business. And I can totally see why she was soo excited to win the tag titles ,like M&M4ever said above me ,every title win means alot to them .Because to them is like all the hard work finally paid off ,&You feel really proud of yourself .I mean ,if I ever become a wrestler ,it would be a feeling out of this world that not even words can describe.

About Miss.T shes becoming really good ,She has a future in the wrestling business IMO &She will be very successful in it.

    I love Miss.Tessmacher

  • BillyGP

Mickie been wrestling 12 years also LOL

    • _Bryan_

not in wwe and tna, thats her entire career. tara has been wrestling the longest in the major companies, thats what shes trying to say

  • iLUVwrestlingValets

Love Brooke Adams AKA Miss T. I was a fan of hers when she debuted as that random Brunette girl dancer with a big butt on ECW. Im glad she came back to wrestling and honestly i though she had the most potential out of Layla and Kelly in Extreme Expose. As for Tara i love the fact that her passion for this business still hasn’t died out after twelve years, it’s a little sad that she only held the womens title Twice but im sure that didn’t phase her.

  • BillyGP

    Well Said Tara congrats

    • BillyGP

      Congrats to Brooke (Tessmacher) also

  • WWFoverWWE

awww tara is so sweet :)

  • The_JM

Gotta love Tara, and even more that she’s been on mainstream tv for 11 years (technically 9 years). Congrats to Tara and Tessmacher on the tag title win :) Title wins these days are so meaningless, so hopefully this tag title reign means something unlike most of them. Much love, but Tara actually you’ve been wrestling for 11 years and Mickie for 12 years, so Mickie’s the most experienced. :) not trying to be nit-picky though, just saying.

  • trishstratusfan4ever

Tara been wrestling for 12 years but Trish Stratus is still successful and the greatest female to step in a wrestling ring

    • art

trish isnt the greatest just the most successful wwe diva..

      • Raekon

After Sable or at least at the same page in comparison(ring skills excluded :p).

I also agree that Trish wasnt and still isnt the greatest.

    • _Bryan_

according wo who? oh right according to trishstratusfan4ever . totally

      • _Bryan_

        to*

    • laqisha

Sorry the greatest female to step in the ring is Aja Kong.

  • wangzy

this is what i like about Victoria/Tara…she always took passion in winning belts…even she is a heel still you can see that she is proud that she won it…..unlike some heel divas its like no problem for them…but Victoria/Tara there’s passion in her….

    • Raekon

I thought she is currently a face? O_o

      • _Bryan_

shes somewhere in between i think….like in 05 when she was still psycho but taunted the crowd as a face. thats the only thing that frustrates me about tara, shes a little ambiguous

  • darkangels

can someone shed some light on the rumor the blossom twins are tara and miss T next opponents

    • laqisha

Please no…….there green as grass but somewhat I see potintial.

  • Valese

Tara is awesome, she should turn Tessmacher into her protoge. I love Ms Tessmacher ever since she revealed the vice associated with Melina.

  • Raekon

    Congratulations to the Champs! :)
Tara is a great person and her passion speaks for her additionaly!

Ms shares the same passion and did everything in her power to get the proper training so she can learn to compete and it already payed out.

They both deserved the titles and I hope they will hold and defend them in many occassions! :)

  • laqisha

I hope now TNA read it and sign more KO’s tag Teams like why not Jessica Havoc and Alyssin Kay???
