Former WWE Diva, Melina, responded on Twitter to what seems to have been a parting shot directed at her by WWE on Monday Night Raw.
During Beth Phoenix‘s promo following her match with Eve, she said: “No more booty popping, no more splits and no more stinkfaces.”
The splits are, of course, widely associated with the recently released Diva.
Of WWE’s reference to her, Melina wrote:
Can’t say anything to my face as usual. This is funny. That’s WWE making a statement. They know the fans want me back.
PS- Any Diva can try to do a split from here on out but what the WWE confirmed is that the SPLITS will always remind the world of me. Thank you.
I love the statement peeps! I bet the powers that be were waiting all night to hear that line go on air. Hee hee. I find it very flattering!
Thoughts: Until tonight, WWE has never really acknowledged released talent on television, so I guess Melina should be flattered that she made an impression enough on WWE for them to take a jab at her through Beth. And yes, I do think it was a jab. While technically it is true that we won’t see the splits anymore because Melina is gone, I found that by lumping Melina’s splits with moves like the booty pop and stinkface, WWE tried to denigrate the trademark entrance as ‘fluff’ to take a jab at Melina. Unlike the booty pop or stinkface, Melina’s splits were part of her entrance and weren’t part of the match for T&A purposes.

That’s something that obviously didn’t happen and that’s why she stated it as funny and as the way wwe does things.
Nothing arrogant into her statement in my opinion since its true that the fans want her back, I know at least that many on this site and youtube as also other wrestlings sites do.

Well no more of this hasbeen anymore WWE did right in letting her go. There definitely won’t be anymore splits in the future.

Well this goes to show the controls that WWE have over you! Beth had to say it! Her and Melina are good friends and it must hurt knowing that Beth must of hated to say it but she had to!

Morrison was out for how long? He comes back and he already lost clean tonight to R Truth. That was a message to Morrison. No face coming back from an injury loses clean to his rival like that unless it’s a warning to toe the company line. What she says effects him. Or have the lessons of why Drew McIntyre found himself in the doghouse been forgotten?

Drews issues with Tiffany got Tifanny released. At the time it happened he was still pushed and even after.
So comparing both situations is a bit out of place.
They used him for a while and dropped the ball the same way they did with swagger and many others.
Ask R-Truth for how long he was a jobber, check where Tyler Reks dissappeared. Check where many others just dissappeared like Curt Hawkins that wasnt on tv for ages.
It’s just the way it goes in this business and unfortunately in WWE is all “Boring Cena” and “Randy Boredom” while everyone else comes after.

I don’t find Melina all that attractive. I actually find AJ and Aksana to be very pretty.

Whether she was or wasnt hacked was the issue to WWE. She lost the benefit of the doubt due her prior behavior.
They’ve already broken up in the past.
Melina will always be related to splits. No one has ever innovated their ring entrance as Melina did hers. In my opinion, she had the best entrance out of any diva ever.
She wasn’t allowed into the arena when she was accompanying JoMo on the house show circuit last night, and now she hears this on TV. Let’s not forget them burying JoMo on screen. She has EVERY RIGHT to be pissed off tbh.They’re treating one of their best female performers ever like pure shit.
I love how fickle certain comment-ers are on here. One moment it’s “OMG, how could they release Melina! So talented and so dedicated and so honest!”, and the next it’s “Arrogant bitch…”.

Jillian was happy to leave because she was used only as a jobber and had asked for her release like 5-6 times herself before she got it granted.
Mickie was happy to leave because of Batistas issues that got her fired since they would always choose the superstar over the diva.
Too bad for them that he left after all anyway though. :p
Through this they lost both and can now tune in TNA to watch how great mickie still is while Batista dumped them anyway.
Other than that she is speaking the truth here so its not arrogant, its the facts.

I know that about mickie but her issues with batista got her fired and what I meant was “she was happy to leave over having to put up with him anymore”.
I know its not the best wording (english is not my main language either but I’m trying :p).
The thing is that wwe always kept the superstar and released the diva if there were issues backstage no matter if the diva was right and the superstar wrong.
That why all the divas also say “its a mans world” in wwe.
Honesty is not immature, saying things behind the back of someone is in my opinion.
Additionaly of being backstabbers and cowards on the top of it.
She’s far from the first former WWE talent mentioned off hand after they’ve left the company. Does no one remember Jeff Hardy and the CM Punk angle that pretty much guaranteed Jeff would never return to WWE?
WWE takes digs at released talent if they can find a way to build a story around it.

Ironically enough, you say the Maryse fans wouldn’t be saying “Oh she is arrogant” and so far, none of the Melina fans have really called her arrogant. So is there really a huge difference between if it had been Maryse, Melina, or whoever. Most fans are so biased and will always side with their favorites on any situation. The only comments that you can usually take serious is people who are just neutral, not a huge fan and not a “hater”
I guess I spoke too soon about Melina taking the higher road than some people (gail kim) but I guess I was wrong -_- I just don’t get it why respond to the jab, be the bigger person.
Tried to feel for Melina, now I could care less again. A women in her thirties wanting someone to say something to her face, when in honestly, it was only one line said about Melina that took up what, three seconds? I believe the word split should have been in the promo. She said no more booty popping splits and stinkfaces as in we need less flash and more substance. Any girl can go out there and do it. Why she took offence to such a little comment is beyond me. But I will miss her :(

The split that most people associate with Melina is her entrance, which should be flashy as it is your big moment to play up your character. To add it to a list of actions such as the stinkface and the booty pop which aren’t entrance moves and are used purely for the cheap T&A pop is a bit of an unnecessary insult.

It seems that all of you forgetting that one of her finishers was a split right?
That’s why everyone talks about her entrance only.
She even did the split finisher on kelly in her last raw match which missed as also in superstars VS gail when gail rolled her up after the split and picked up the win.
So splits in general were assosiated with her even they were part of her moveset and not comparable to eves and kellys “cheap” moves.
Most of all since Melina used them in a very athletic manner and as a martial arts move.
Pretty sure Melina used splits in the ring too. She would put the person in a reverse DDT position then scream and put her inside leg over their throat and drop down into a split and pin them like that. So yes her splits were not just part of her entrance but also in matches.

That was one version, the other was a running sunset split.
So its definately insulting to place these moves in the same line like kellys and eves moves they talked about in the promo.
Last night showed the immaturity of WWE. If Melina really wasn’t much of a big deal to them, why go out of their way to have Beth make such a snide comment.
Yeah Melina did splits in her matches, but she incorporated them into her moveset. It’s not like she was doing the splits just because.
You guys are so busy bickering with each other over nonsense that I feel like a few vital points were missed.
Number one: we can now understand why she wasn’t allowed backstage Monday night. Talk about awkward.
Two: Why is everyone ok with the notion that if two people are dating within a company, what one person in the relationship does (even when they aren’t in the company anymore) reflects poorly on the other one? Call me crazy but that doesn’t seem to make any sense to me at all.
Three: Backstage rumors or not, Melina has clearly worked hard for the WWE for the past seven years. It’s bad enough that they fired her without giving her a chance at a proper send off (maybe she did deserve it, IDK), but then they take a childish jab at her on television. She had every right to throw a complete fit, and she didn’t. IDK any other company where something like that would happen without people taking a minute to ponder the maturity of whoever is making the decisions.
At the end of the day she was fired and intentionally humiliated. And now it’s possible that they are threatening the career of her bf. These are not practices of people with an abundance of maturity. And if any of us were in her place, could we call say with certainty that we would handle things has well as she did?
