SHIMMER returns this weekend, October 1st and 2nd, with four new tapings for the SHIMMER DVD series.
Diva Dirt’s Steven is on hand in Berwyn, IL, bringing us live results.
* Sara Del Rey video package. Del Rey calls Kana out for ignoring her and says she’ll defeat her just like a rookie.
* First match: Leva Bates (as Cyclops from X-Men) vs Mercedes Martinez. Martinez def. Leva with a fisherman’s buster.
* Mena Libra and Melanie Cruise def. Hailey Hatred and Kalamity via bridging Samoan drop from Libra to Kalamity.
* Next match is Kellie Skater vs LuFisto vs Tomoka Nakagawa vs MsChif. Tomoka pins MsChif to win.
* Yumi Ohka def. Courtney Rush via chokebomb.
* Davina Rose vs Portia Perez next. Portia calls Serena out to watch her protege in the ring. Serena comes to ringside to cheer on Davina. Portia Perez def. Davina Rose via crossface. Post-match, Perez doesn’t break the hold. Serena makes the save for Davina, then Nicole Matthews makes the save for Portia. Serena challenges Nicole to a match tonight.
* Nevaeh and Sassy Stephie def. Nikki Roxx and Ariel via pinfall after a team maneuver.
* Cheerleader Melissa def. Christina Von Eerie via Kudo Driver.
* Athena def. Jessie McKay and Mia Yim via O-Face on Yim. Great match that saw Mia debut a corkscrew moonsault which she missed but was awesome nonetheless.
* Nicole Matthews def. Serena via Roll the Dice after Portia Perez distracts Serena. Davina Rose comes out to check on Serena and a fight breaks out. Afterwards, the refereess and some of the locker room break it up. Serena challenge Portia to a No Holds Barred match on Volume 43.
* Ayako Hamada and Ayumi Kurihara def. the Knight Dynasty to retain their SHIMMER Tag Team Championships when Ayako pinned Britani. After the match, Saraya berates Britani and tells her to get her act together or she won’t be wanted by “them”.
* Kana def. Sara Del Rey via submission.
* Main event will be Madison Eagles vs Hiroyo Matsumoto for the SHIMMER Championship.
* Madison Eagles def. Hiroyo Matsumoto via HellBound to retain the SHIMMER Championship.

So we are getting Del Rey v Kana. I tought they may have had an agreement with Chikara not to do it.

4 tapings in the course of 2 days? They only filmed one volume today, so are they gonna film 3 volumes worth all tomorrow?
at
Leva vs Martinez….
Oh crap. Leva’s in for a beating…
at
They’ve filmed Volume 41 and now they’re filming Volume 42.
Tomorrow they will tape Volume 43 & Volume 44. Same as usual.

And apparently Lufisto’s a Pink Power Ranger.

* Next match is Kellie Skater vs LuFisto vs Tomoka Nakagawa vs MsChif.
Bizarre Mix. Lufisto or Chif for the win IMO

Hope this means a singles push for Nakagawa <3 but I don't see her getting a title shot, considering that'd be a heel/heel match.

Wow, Mercedes is in the dog house isn’t she. I would think someone as brilliant, talented and in such high regard as MM would be MUCH, MUCH higher on the card.

Just cause your not main eventing or high on the card, doesn’t mean your in the dog house.

Hope she gets to face Ohka and Kana.

Sara del Rey, Yumi Ohka and MsChif were also on the lower card, are they also in the doghouse?
Shimmer has like 15+ women on this taping that are ‘credible’ in the mainevent, but you cant put them all in there.

Ohka is new to SHIMMER, she should start there. SDR is at least getting to participate in an angle, with an inevitable main event showdown with Kana this weekend sometime. Isn’t Chif just coming off an injury? That would justify working her back in slowly. But, I don’t really see a reason not to give Mercedes a more prominent role.

Don’t get me wrong, im not saying she should be having a title match every time.. But at least give her something to work with..

Mercedes got a title shot on 37, she’s working with the more inexperienced girls in the low card. Nothing wrong with it, in fact I find it admirable.

it’s not like she’s the one who does the job to Kellie Skater. If she’s booked on a losing streak then turned heel lamely ala Melina. Then you could say so.

Bet that 4 way match was awesome! Big win for Nakagawa, especially since she pinned Chif. Can’t wait to see Kana and SDR beat the crap out of each other! That’s going to be a great match!

Who’s taller Melanie Cruise or Hailey Hatred?
Mikas Reply:

Hailey is in the same height range as SDR, Melissa, Mercedes and Nicole. So Melanie Cruise is taller, i think she is the 2nd tallest on the roster (after Madison Eagles).

“Great match that saw Mia debut a corkscrew moonsault which she missed but was awesome nonetheless.”
There is a video on her youtube channel where Zeuxis teaches her that move (it’s Zeuxis finisher in REINA).

That move looks pretty amazing, I believe Zeuxis used that move on Nicole Matthews.

1. YEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!! ATHENA GETS A WIN!!!!! I saw the video too where Mia attempted that corkscrew moonsault. Beautiful!!
2. KANA is MONEY!!!!!!!!!!
3. Saraya vs. Britani tomorrow. Obviously they’re are teasing Britani’s signing with WWE, so this is like a farewell feud for the two.

Welp, Kana vs SDR just happened.

It happened in 2004 or 2005, I think back in Japan but I’m sure now in 2011 the stage is much more higher.

When SDR was in Japan in 2005, they trained and lived together, but never had a one on one match. Tonight was their first match.

They did, its on cagematch.net on their profiles, look it up.

Madison vs Matsumoto is weird, Hiroyo really doesn’t have enough wins to get a title shot but this should be a fantastic bout. Fully expect Eagles to retain.

I have a feeling IF Madison loses the title it will happen at volume 44. I really hope Madison retains this weekend though.

Agreed, I’m pretty sure Melissa will get that belt in the spring 2012 tapings.

HIROYO????? She getting a title match? Interesting.

Finally Athena and Sassy got their first wins.
Matsomoto getting a title shot is so random.

“them” must be WWE

That is okay when Brittani, hoping that WWE will let her keep her name that when she will be raking in that dough that mom will eat those words.

Excellent volume in terms of building wrestlers.
Athena finally achieved a much deserved win with her beautiful top rope stunner. Mia Yim, it should be said, was no slouch in that triple threat match. Her talents still seem very much underutilised at this point, so one can only hope she’s a keeper for SHIMMER.
Nicole Matthews and Serena’s match was really good. Portia Perez is a great heel. She brought out so much in Serena’s promos — which usually strike me as too cheesy — that it set up a huge thirst for their no holds barred encounter tomorrow. I can’t wait.
Kana and Sara Del Rey was good, but perhaps not as great as I had anticipated. The finish in which Sara passed out was rather shocking; so much so that it feels like Kana is certain to defeat Melissa tomorrow.
Mercedes Martinez turning heel? Her last two matches indicate so.
The Knight Dynasty was again a highlight, this time with Saraya adopting a more harsh tone with her WWE-bound daughter. The promo she cut post match really made Brittani look sympathetic, so if they’re on the card for tomorrow, I expect a Mother vs Daughter blowoff at some point.
Madison Eagles and Hiroyo Matsumoto was a fantastic main event. I’ve become huge fans of both women.

I can only hope the Kana/Del Rey match was only an appetizer to their CHIKARA match in a week.

Tomorrow is going to be very interesting.. Im hoping for a title change. Im also looking forward to seeing Mercedes facing competition that is more on her experience and status level. Would love to see her go toe to toe with Kana.

Dude. What is it with you and Mercedes?

Madison v Hiroyo was a fantastic match. Yim and Athena were trying to outdo one another with outrageous finishers — corkscrew moonsault (no one home) followed by O-face by Athena — damn!! The writers seem to be angling for an exit strategy with Britani Knight. Afterall, if she is booked for FCW (WWE) then this may be her last SHIMMER for a long time T.T Saraya seems about to disown her after the matches on vol. 41 & 42.
