Exclusive: Gail Kim Talks About Her TNA Return, Quitting WWE & Much More!
Fresh from making her big, Twitter-trending return to TNA last week on Impact Wrestling, Diva Dirt talks to the woman of the moment — Gail Kim!
In a whirlwind few months that saw her quit WWE amidst a storm of controversy, return to the company that she calls “home” and star in the first ever live shoot interview on Internet pay per view, Gail Kim’s name has been hot on everybody’s lips. Gail has granted a select few interviews, each proving as buzz-worthy as the last, and in only her third interview, Gail talks to us!
We talk to Gail about her return to TNA, where she was once the first ever Knockouts Champion, playing a heel again, whether she feels she made the right decision in quitting WWE, why she quit instead of waiting out her contract, frustrations with the way the Divas were used in WWE and being disrespected backstage.
Gail also discusses her first match back on Impact Wrestling this Thursday where she faces Tara, her upcoming independent match with Traci Brooks, her next TV project and more.

i’m glad that she wants to be going for the tag titles and i hope that’s the direction tna takes gail. i would kinda feel a bit cheated as a fan if she headed straight for the main title.. and, well, it’s gail frickin’ kim! if she can’t raise the importance of the tag belts then who can??
it’s pretty saddening to hear about the whole documentary debacle, especially as it seems as if stephanie was the one who didn’t want one of her divas to do something that could ultimately had brought more eyes to the divas -__-
anyway, it’s great to hear that wwe didn’t suck away her passion like has happened to sooo many divas before her and instead seems to have increased it! i’m looking forward to seeing gail breaking out the old submission holds again and seeing where the whole karen/madi/kim thing goes :)

This was a great interview! I’ve had my opinions about the way Gail exited the company and her (lack of) professionalism, but she seems very genuine in reflecting on her career. After listening to all her interviews, she made me feel like the WWE didn’t really wronged her, if anything she kinda used them to help established herself financially and when she found some stability and felt she wasn’t being used the way she thought she should be, exited the company in a very unprofessional way. I understand her frustrations tho, just wish she handled it differently.

The fact that Gail left a company that was using her as their top baby face and pretty much making her into a TNA legend for a company that had the likes of Maria pinning Victoria and the Bella’s getting wins over Victoria/Natalya, does show that Gail was most likely in it for the money, thats really the only thing WWE had and still has up on TNA really. Gail knew what she was doing an I’m sure she expected just because of what she did in TNA, she’d be pushed to the moon. But in honestly, she played TNA like a bad boyfriend, and WWE played her.

Gail said she didn’t have any expectations, but she went in with a hopeful attitude, because she couldn’t see the future or what was in store. In the end, it was WWE who wanted her to stay but she gave them a “kiss my ass” and left.

I like Gail, but I do have mixed feelings about her comments on the WWE. Like in any facet of entertainment, there will always be some stars that become megastars and some talented people that never become big stars. In movies, few actresses become big stars, most end up on mediocre roles, some never even get on a movie. In music, most talented singers don’t become big stars, lots of very talented singers never even get a recording contract. Similarly, in the WWE, some divas become big stars, and other talented divas are never really used. The same thing happens in all facets of entertainment. Let’s be realistic here, there have always been divas in the WWE that went on to become big stars and some that where never really used. Everyone always brings up Trish/Lita/Chyna/Sable/Sunny…. well, recently we’ve had new diva megastars. We have Melina/McCool/Layla/Beth and most recently Kelly & Natalya… maybe Eve in the near future? They got enough TV time to become memorable divas. Gail is frustrated because for whatever reason the WWE decided not to make her a big star. She always either had a mediocre diva role or a jobber role. Never being able to get past that frustrated her. But, that’s the entertainment world. The top executives always pick who to give the leading roles to. The fellow actresses/singers/wrestlers just show up to work when they are called up. But, I don’t think she should talk down the entire divas division because her experience wasn’t to her liking. Divas like Melina & McCool had the spotlight on them for years and did develop into major WWE stars.
But, there’s also another side to this, maybe by releasing a lot of backstage gossip the WWE will make some positive changes to the division? We’ll see.

Good point MSKHAMLA, I felt that way as well. WWE is considering Gail Kim as a threat since she return to TNA, the Divas get a push now they get mic time, promos, backstage, longer matches, title feud, and started to use other girls. Finally the Divas Title will have a meaning if Beth holds on it longer.
I’m sure the Divas are thanking Gail Kim, WWE don’t wan’t a law suit for being sexist, so they are taking Gail Kim seriously for telling all = ) so she did the right thing to quit and represent a company that always cared for her and she always cared about TNA.
Happiness over Money, or both would be awesome.

TNA as a whole is very positive for the WWE Divas. TNA gives the knockouts plenty of time and they often get the highest rated segments on the show. It shows that if booked right, the fans do care about the women’s division. Recent examples include Kharma & Beth Vs Kelly in Buffalo NY. If booked right, the fans can get really into the divas. The WWE is likely seeing the potential dollar signs in the divas, I’m sure! The WWE Network might be the best thing to happen to the divas. If the reality show is a hit, they might get a 1 hour divas wrestling show. At that point we’d have A LOT of diva TV time! We’d get a match on Smackdown & Raw, sometimes superstars & NXT. Then the 1 hour reality show and 1 hour wrestling show.

Good point, I want the Divas to continue getting on a push, us Fans deserve to see this, then we have something to tune into left and right and support both company, this is a good thing. The Divas show, if they can make it like Basketball Wive and etc….drama equal ratings, we don’t want to see weak womens wreslters thats the truth we want the real deal like what Gail Kim gives us thats why she is trending people care and some hate but this all good.

Gail Kim is awesome! I had been disrespected before, and as much as I would like to just sit back and take it, I cannot, so I fully understand where Gail is coming from. I may not have known what went through her mind when she left, but as a person whom have had been disrespected before and kept my mouth shut until the end, I have no problems with the way Gail quit her job. She actually had the balls to leave the biggest wrestling company, and that says something about a person. Instead of disrespect, you can just leave her be. The haters are funny, I for one hate one particular wrestler in mind, but you know what? At the end of the day, that person was on my mind and got me to use my energy towards them. Such is a way of life. We CARE so much about them that we bother to even read up or comment. The winner in the long run is Gail, and she deserves the best… as we all :). Go Gail! Rule TNA once again. Cannot wait to see Gail Vs. Mickie again… in a real feud!!!!

i agree with u varsitybasedude thanks for taking time to get ur point across. gail kim is human she can act whatever way she want if we choose to be her fan then y do we have to care about who she is as a person? if we like how she entertains us then why hate right? it’s wrestling y do these girls have to be soft and nice? y can’t they be a b*tch if they want to? y can’t they be mean and selfish if they want to? why do they have to do this or that? they are just like us not perfect.
wrestling is a mans world so they have to be a tough bi*ch, they are fighters, not meant to be classy or nice, suppose to be mean and tough and to beat up who ever steps up to them, this is wresting so like gail be unprofessional, shes a tough girl, she don’t need to fit in any kind of mold she is her own person and should only be judge on in ring skills, that entertains us womens wrestling fans.

Thank you Fan2010, your comment made me happy too. I really appreciate that huge write up you did. I totally agree. It’s really her life, and if someone is holding you down, it’s time to move on. Life is too short to stand in the shadows, and Gail has taken an initiative to move forward and be strong as you said. Now I would love to have the balls to do the same and change my career (working on it), but I FEAR I won’t have money. The thing fear stops us from doing. I myself will find my way and be free to pursue my passion, I’m just working out the details. And I have to say, Gail fans are usually nice… and I love that about them. The haters will hate. no thank u, u taking time to do a write up is awesome. u expose gail kim as a human and this is y there is less haters now, they are now reading it and realizing that it is okay to be ur self and be hated because at the end of the day gail will do what she wants, she felt unhappy, and we know how frustrating it is to be at work and be frustrated and unhappy, so we train or go to school to have a better job, we fear money just like gail and people act like she did something bad. is like me having a good job that pays less, the other company wants to pay me more, i go there for the money and i’m unhappy and feel like i’m not going no where, i decided to go back to the less paying job because i can actually have something to do and have advancement it might be less but ill do it for my passion now that i don’t worry about money. once she put on some good matches, i know the hater will watch her match and secretly know shes good. but don’t want to admit it
