A new rumor suggests that a former WWE Women’s Champion may be returning to the company for a new storyline.
F4WOnline (via Lords of Pain) reports that WWE is close to bringing a name from the past to feud with current Divas Champion Beth Phoenix and Natalya.
However, it’s unknown who the Diva in question may be.
Thoughts: Bear in mind, this is all speculation and rumor for now. If indeed true, who could it be? Trish Stratus seems almost too likely considering she has already returned and done the WrestleMania thing. Recently retired Michelle McCool, perhaps? Personally, I’d love to see Lita back, and she did tweet today that she was filming an interview with WWE.

hhmm, who can it be, i think this one is between trish stratus and michelle mccool IMO. lita could be a possibility but i dont see it, shes said it several times that she has no plans to return.
trish is a possibility since shes had feuds with beth and she also said shes a big fans of divas of doom.
michelle is another there have been alot of rumors about her return and several reports have been posted that she and taker are having talks with wwe, she was backstage at wwe one time too. also with the returning layla, michelle might possibly could do too. laycool (face) vs DOD! it will be a grea tag team feud, maybe thats what wwe is going for.

If Lita & Trish do anything with the DoD, it’d be as a unit, as that’s what the four of them have been discussing for months. Ideally, they want a steel cage.
But, that would almost certainly be Wrestlemania.
I’m guessing Michelle, or even Candice Michelle. The movement that Beth & Natalya stand for is for the ‘barbie dolls’. I wouldn’t put Lita into the barbie dolls section.

Since the DoD call Trish & Lita “the original Pin-Up Strong,” it would be more of a challenge the legends kind of thing. Show the modern Divas and the young kids how it’s done, what women are really capable of in the ring.
It’d also fit with what seems to be the building theme of Wrestlemania 28. We’ve already got Rock vs Cena, and Punk will likely be taking on Austin or maybe Jericho. DoD vs XTreme Stratusfaction would bring the Divas into the larger storyline.

It’s not Michelle although she did say never say never about a return to the ring but she did say many times she is content with her life right now being away from the ring plus if she were to return it would likely be with The Undertaker

I also wanna see Molly Holly, because she is so amazing. I also think Trish just needs to come back because she really didn’t go no where. Plus the division would be better if she came back. OMG!!!!!! My brain is buzzing with who it could be and all possibilities. Funny how this came about. Because I was really getting bored of the Divas division.

I know everyone is hoping for someone like Lita (who is doing an interview with WWE so fingers crossed) but what about someone like Candice Michelle? She’s a former Women’s Champion with a TON of history with Beth Phoenix. Maybe she’ll align herself with a former Diva to stop DoD or even go after the Butterfly herself?
Everyone is getting excited and it turns out to be Layla. aha.. I know she never left but it’s WWE. they’ll pretend she did.

Layla’s impending return is the reason some are speculating Michelle McCool.
As much as I’d LOVE for it to be Trish Stratus, I have a feeling it won’t be.
Lita is next on my list, I miss her and it would be great to see her back. Chyna would be great as well, but she’s just too much of a hot mess these days.
Molly, Michelle and Jazz all would be great too!

I’ve heard rumors that the last time WWE was in town, Michelle was backstage visiting and they asked her if she might want to return. Of course, that’s just a rumor. Though it would be interesting to see LayCool vs Beth/Nattie with the roles reversed, I don’t know if it would actually work. Michelle was unbelievably boring as a face and never really managed to get over. On the other hand, aside form Trish, she would be the most likely candidate.
I would much rather see someone like Lita, Madusa/Alundra Blayze, or Molly Holly come back and JOIN Beth and Nattie. All three women never conformed to the “typical” Diva mold and it would be easy to explain why they’re coming back to take out the “models” and “Barbies.”

Keep in mind what Pin-Up Strong is about. It’s not about pure wrestlers vs models, but about the hybrids, the women who were great wrestlers AND did the sexy bikini shoots in exotic locations in those DVDs they used to put out.

Jacquelines Facebook is legit, its linked to her Twitter and has family photos, the Mark Henry one I think is actually fake, she replied too him so I just assumed.. but on closer look, it seems to be a fake account.
As for Ivory not liking Jackie, not sure what differnce that would have made the “Mark Henry” account posted that Ivory turns 50 today.. Jackie replied that Ivory still looks awesome, “Mark Henry” then said, I spoke to her and she said the company recently called her about returning.. hmmm either way seems to have been fake news unfortunately.

They’re thinking of the mythological figure she based her name on, which is, in fact, spelled “Medusa.”
People just need to remember that it’s a play on words (which isn’t that well known). It’s partly the mythological figure and partly a contraction of “MADe in the USA”.
Anyone who knows about the contraction part of her ring name never spells it wrong. But, how many of us know about that? You REALLY have to know women’s wrestling to be aware of little details like that.
1. it’s not trish because in an interveiw she claimed she supported D.O.D so it wouldn’t make sense. and besides trish needs to learn what RETIRED means
2. it can’t be michelle because she just retired not even a year ago, it would just confuse people she just wants to settle down with the undertaker.
3. i doubt it’s lita mainly because she’s the complete opposite of a barbie doll and it would be wrong to categorize her as a barbie doll, in fact she’s most likely team with DOD rather then against but i wouldn’t complain if she did return and feud with them.
4. i doubt it would be chyna because as mr mcmahon said he wasn’t interested in her being back all though i wouldn’t mind her returning.

1. Trish knows what retired means. But, things like Tough Enough keep coming up. There’s always been some reason whenever she’s returned to the ring. A couple of possible reasons for 2012: Tough Enough and the Hall of Fame.
2. Undertaker’s retiring after Wrestlemania. So, one more time for Michelle before then isn’t out of the question.
3. It would be like the Trish scenario with Lita, to the point to where they’d operate as a unit. “The original Pin-Up Strong” is what the DoD call Trish & Lita. That’d be the basis for the Wrestlemania match Beth & Nattie have been lobbying for.
4. It’s the porn thing that rules out Chyna. Given that she seems pretty lucid, these days, I’m sure she realizes she wouldn’t fit the kid friendly PG modern WWE. She’s also not close to the same shape she used to be in. She hasn’t touched weights in years. She’s in better shape than your average woman her age, but… A common comment people made regarding her recent porn vid was “Couldn’t she have hit the gym, first?”
Compare to the training obsessive Trish & Lita. Trish is still hardbodied, gorgeous abs, and if you saw this week’s Raw Afterbuzz show, you noticed she’s been REALLY working on her biceps. Lita has been, by all accounts, doing major training with weights. They’re both VERY in ring shape, in Lita’s case more than she’s ever been.
In 2011, Trish has a lot more muscle than Chyna, and, from what they say about Amy these days, she does, too. Being in the ring with BETH F’N PHOENIX would make Chyna look… not like Chyna. She can look dominant with Karen Jarrett, but not with Beth or Nattie.
So, I figure Chyna’s just saying she wants back in to make sure we still think about her and promote her other projects.

chyna does the same work outs as lita and trish – including yoga. she may not be 190lbs with her huge muscle amount, however she is still larger than any of the divas on the roster because shes about 6 ft tall and 165lbs. the closest is beth at 150lbs. besides, if chyna were to come back, i dont think anyone would expect her to be her former self considering shes 40, especially herself.

Like others have said, I would love Lita to return but didn’t she say that she wouldn’t want to return? I do however think that with all the work Trish does with the company, that she could be the one if this is even true. After Trish I would put Michelle in second because well… TV has been pretty boring without Laycool and I could see them re-forming their friendship and returning. Another diva I would like to return is Candice Michelle as the way her career went from sky-high to so-low was so upsetting and she deserves to prove herself again.

Michelle would be bad simply for the fact that she hasn’t even been gone a year yet. The crowd hasn’t had time to forget what a huge heel she was and move into nostalgia. Plus, it would be kind of dumb to all of a sudden have Michelle and Layla be BFFs again, when the last time we saw Layla, she was coming off of forcing Michelle out of the company. The whole reason Layla became a face was because she “broke-up” with Michelle. Unless she comes back as a heel, it would make no sense to bring Michelle back as a face.
Plus, Michelle is so much better as a heel. She never got over as a face and I really don’t see it happening if she comes back so soon.

michelle is NOT bad choice, michelle is an absolute machine in the ring, she is amazing as a wrestler and she can take it to beth and nattie. she will help improve quality of matches. wwe divas need veterans!!
michelle has had problems with charisma but laycool certainly helped her improve and i do believe that she will be able to carry herself well. i would love to see laycool vs DOD, because i really enjoyed last years divas tables match and the whole tag team feud these girls had. it was entertaining so im excited to see that again.
on the other hand i do believe its a little early for a return but if layla’s returning i would like to see michelle too.

Are we watching the same WWE. Natalya got no reaction? Natalya and Beth got MUCH bigger reactions than Michelle, as faces. Did you hear the crowd when Beth returned at Survivor Series last year. And listen to the pops Natalya got before, during and after the Tables match at TLC. Not trying to take anything way from Michelle, but as a face she didn’t have a lot charisma and got no crowd reaction. Maybe she’ll make a better one now, who knows.

michelle is great to watch wrestle but shes got nothing else….
I want to see McCool come back as a face even though her first run was horrible as a face but she was never given that chance to actually speak and show some charisma and personality. Plus, McCool vs. Beth/Natalya sounds very very entertaining.
I think a good storyline would be the wrestlers of this generation against the wrestlers of the past generation. Maybe whoever is returning can come back and complain about D.OD thinking they’re the best female wrestlers in the world.
There are so many great women to chose from. I’m very excited if this happens to be true. I just hope it’s not Trish unless she’s tag teaming with Lita, other than that please stay away.
Whoever it is, Hope she saves the DIVISION.

I don’t think it’s just Layla- they said it’s “from the past”, so that implies that they’re no longer w/ WWE- Layla is still active, just injured (but should be coming back soon).
They’ve gone to the Trish well a little too often, so I doubt it’s her. Molly probably doesn’t want to do it. Madusa would be interesting, but her monster truck schedule probably prevents it (January-March have events every weekend). Ivory could be interesting as well. I don’t know if Lita would want to do it either- she might at some point, but I doubt it.
I’m thinking it is probably going to be a LayCool reunion- they’ll return together in their signature hoodies, having “talked things out”, and Michelle still has plenty in the tank- and it’s about time for Undertaker to do his WrestleMania run (though I don’t think the “return” Youtube vids they’ve been promoting about a debut on January 2nd is for him-people who have studied the vids think from clues in what’s been said in them believe it’s actually for Chris Jericho, and I’m thinking that too- probably it’ll end up being Jericho/Undertaker at Wrestlemania…)

I’m sure Molly would want to do it…but I have to agree with Michael that it’ll probably just be Layla. It’s never who you think it is…the only way I’d believe it was Lita is if the release date for her movie with Trish Stratus was announced. It would be the perfect reason for her to make an appearance.
I wouldn’t put my bets on Trish because it might be someone who we haven’t seen in the WWE for a long time and we see Trish now and then. It couldn’t be McCool even though I would be curious enough to see what happens between her and DoD?
It could be Jackie since her TNA contract is expired?

What fan of the Golden Age of Divas DOESN’T love Ivory?
She’s one of the originals. The segment that gave us the TERM Diva featured her and Sable.
She she also set an important precedent for women wrestlers. She had no experience, whatsoever, and wasn’t connected to anyone in the industry when GLOW signed her. They gave her six weeks of training and then she was the star of a nationally televised promotion.
Favorite Ivory theme? Probably “Hop Drop”, which still sounds very contemporary Diva.

im a fan of ivory too, however she never really reached the pinicale of lita or trish because the wwe never really packaged her well…..except for the rtc gimmick, but thats not a part where you can still support them as heels because they are more annoying than anything

I don’t think Michelle could get revenge on Kharma because Kharma is practically unbeatable and Michelle would get destroyed while trying to get retribution. Honestly i want it to be Molly Holly. in an interview Beth talked about how Molly believed in her and how when Beth couldn’t afford her tuition into wrestling school, Molly paid for it in full. It would be nice to get her in and set Beth straight in the storyline, and have them put on a five star match that will enhance beth’s in her career, because lets face it, Beth isn’t going to have too many memorable matches with the current crop of divas these days, its almost like she came in to WWE at the wrong time. Also i can see michelle but she just retired so she needs to wait around so people will want her more, and i dont want it to be trish because i love her, but she needs to have a seat.
BTW,WWE keeps promising these big things for the divas, but they have yet to deliver. WWE programming this week has been piss poor all around, so they need to do less talking, and more action, because this storyline really isnt making Beth look that good, like there is still little reason to even care about the divas title now

She has stated time and time again that the WWE officials invite her; she doesn’t ask or beg for an invitation. Clearly, that alone is proof that they can’t get enough of her and not the other way around. Her products are sold only in Canada currently and she gets enough Canadian press to cover her brand. She doesn’t desperately need her products featured on WWE TV. And what’s the harm in showcasing her brand when she makes cameos? It’s not pathetic, but smart and business savvy. Unlike every other retired or fired Diva, she actually has captured and maintained the level of success she found with WWE and is working diligently to increase it.

If Trish wasn’t in the public eye promoting fitness and health in body, mind, and spirit, all the general public would know as representing pro wrestlers would be the Hardys, Ric Flair, Chyna, and whoever else gets in the news for some negative thing or other.
Trish carrying her Women’s Championship belt when she does PSAs and appearances promoting health and fitness to children is a PR dream for the company and the wrestling business as a whole. Really, they should have her under a Legends contract because she’s been doing the Goodwill Ambassador job, already.
So, yeah, they let her promote her brand while she’s promoting theirs. It’s mutually beneficial, and promoting fitness and health is exactly the sort of thing WWE SHOULD be involved in.

If Trish can fit into a Disney style PG environment, so can Lita. Trish seems more comfortable in the PG setting (even if they did have to bleep her during the bar fight with LayCool), so Lita would probably feel the same way.
it will probably be lita since JR talked about how good it would be if she returns for short time and i would LOVE IT… but than it could also be michelle mccool since undertaker will probably return for wrestlemania so it`s possible michelle would come which i would loved to cuz this two are one of my fav divas ever but i would be still happier to see lita since she was longer out

A Jackie or Ivory return would be sooo great!! They’re both amazing, and in my mind, iconic lady wrestlers.
If they brought in Bull Nakano I would be shocked and oh so excited! That woman is a wrestler and would be such a refreshing change from the current crop of females. Nakano could really show fans what real women’s wrestling is all about.

While I do think Trish & Lita might be back for Wrestlemania, I don’t think this is about either of them. Given that Beth & Nattie have been lobbying for a match with those two for months, any plans in that area would have already been made. The report sounds like a very recent development. Jacqueline just became available. As Trish pointed out on Afterbuzz, neither she nor Lita would have the time to work for WWE in any full time capacity when the question was asked if either of them would consider being an agent or trainer.

She and Ivory trained some of the girls in OVW for a while. Tough taskmasters too, by all accounts. That’s part of why some of the girls signed from Diva Search didn’t last long. If you were afraid to break a nail, you weren’t gonna make it.
Good thing, too, since getting in the ring with Trish and Victoria meant you were going to feel some pain. Candice though her jaw had been broken the first time Trish slapped her in a backstage segment. Candice & Torrie joked about how time seemed to slow down when Victoria was taking a swing at you in a match. You saw the arm swinging, saw the hand coming closer and closer, knowing it was coming and being unable to stop it… :)

I agree… Of all the things in the world, the first and vital thing they need to do is to hype DOD up, give them a solid and truly threatening and intimidating image for the fans to be reckoned with.
I doubt it will b any of my TOP favs.
Although I’m a HUGE fan I don’t want it 2 b Lita simply because even when she WAS face she still had that hard edge to her (even if facing her IS 1 of Beth’s dream matches & mine)& if she did it would make sense if she was mostly “coaching” Kelly , Eve & Alicia like she did with Cristy. I really don’t see the point in perpetuating this rumor, since there doesn’t seem to be any proof for it at all.
If you go to the source linked here (Lords of Pain) they give a partial source for F4WOnline. If you go to F4WOnline, they don’t seem to have anything related to this rumor, unless it’s in the discussion boards.
What I think is that Lords of Pain had F4WOnline listed as a partial source for their Bull Nakano at a Raw house show in Japan story, that was listed in the same report as this one. Lords of Pain being one of the most unreliable sites for news/rumors, seems to be the ones who created the former women’s champion rumor.
And of course the rumor is perfectly valid, since everyone is expecting Layla to return to WWE TV soon (she appeared at an FCW show the other day), and that she’ll be the star babyface that will defeat Beth Phoenix for the Diva’s championship (because Alicia Fox is surely not going to).
It’s fun to fantasize about who it could be, but the probability of a former Diva (ie. not Layla) returning to the company aren’t particularly high until we hear something more substantial.

Personally I know that it won’t be Trish or Chyna. Trish just this monday on afterbuzztv said sh definitely wouldn’t be able to come back full time because of all her side business in canada, with her yoga studio and brand. I would really love for it to be Michelle McCool and all signs seem to be pointing to her. IMO Trish was the better character and more charismatic, but from a technical stand point Michelle was better. This doesn’t mean that she was a better wrestling character though, because most people didn’t care about her the way they cared about Trish. The major problem Michelle had was that she wrestled with a power house style, which while great for a heel does not look good on someone as thin as she was because it’s not believable. That however, has nothing to do with her technical prowess. She was actually very good in the ring.

Michelle is the better wrestler, imo. I think Trish was an amazing wrestler BUT she wasn’t good enough to push younger talent. She was always wrestling against women like Lita, Molly, Jazz, etc. As for McCool, she went against Eve, K2, Layla, etc. Trish was sloppy through out her whole career but not as sloppy as Eve but McCool she is really solid and clean and rarely botched.

I definitely could see Lita actually making return. She has said that she would consider returning if the storyline was right. And if you really think about it, Lita does in some ways fit the barbie character. When Lita came in, she was viewed as over sexualized with her always showing her thong when she wrestled. She was the exact opposite of what the females in the division were doing at that time. It could be argued that Lita is one of the greatest of all time in the company period because she took on both men and women in various match situations. I think allowing her to come back and reign as Divas Champion would be a great way for WWE to pay respect to her, cause let’s face it, before Trish became big, Lita was the it girl of WWE.

@_BRYAN_ Chyna being in great ring shape is different from Lita and Trish just because of her power house wrestling style, and rustiness has more to do with botches and execution than physical fitness. Lita’s been pretty vocal about her weight lifting routine (she just tweeted a photo about 2 days ago) and we know that she does a lot of yoga just like Trish. I’m sure Chyna’s in good shape, just not bodybuilding shape like she was back when she wrestled in WWF.
She was noticeably thinner and smaller in TNA. A big part of her marketability as a performer was her size/muscles. In that respect, Beth has it on her atm. She’d have to bulk up again to be believable in terms of her old wrestling character against Beth Phoenix, just in terms of perception. Beth’s guns are huge! People would notice, and you’d want it to be a believable contest. I’d hate to see her go out in the ring (hypothetically) just for everyone on here to complain how silly it was because Beth’s forearms were bigger than hers…

i understand what your saying – however chyna does not want to promote herslef like that anymore (im guessing). shes 40 years old now… however regardless of her muscle mass is still much larger than some of the divas (like ive said previously, she weighs 15lbs more than beth).
characters are constantly evolving and imo, i dont think she needs to look like her days 10 years ago for her to be believeable against beth. i mean, look at kelly. she beat her and shes what? 110 lbs? chyna is over 50lbs bigger than her so i dont think credibility against the girls is really an issue. against the guys however is a different story

If you try to do a Stratusfaction in high heels, yeah, there’s a good chance it won’t look that good. She didn’t know she was going to be doing a run in until literally right before the show, so she didn’t bring the right shoes with her.

Yoga is the basis for her routine, but it’s a lot more than that. “Gunshow” is her favorite catch phrase, these days.
With Chyna, again, people said of her recent porn vid that she needed to get back in the gym. That strongly suggests she’s not a hardbody, any more.
Amy, meanwhile, is going to be a kettlebell trainer, professionally. So, physical training is what these two women DO. Trish also seems to like to pick up new martial arts in her spare time. The Budokon class at her studio was compared, by someone who’d done both, to the Hart Dungeon.
So, if Chyna is actually serious about stepping in the ring with Beth and not looking less than impressive, she’d have to build herself up, considerably. Not 2000 level, of course, but… Jackie Moore is 47 and still has impressive guns. So, it’s certainly doable.
But… I don’t think she really wants to get back in the ring. She’s just keeping her name out there to promote her other activities. While I think she’s strongly mistaken about how she’s perceived and what made her popular (She really seems to think that hardcore porn is what her fans always wanted from her), she HAS to realize that her porn career doesn’t fit WWE, or even TNA. She knows full well that none of the major promotions can work with that. So, she can say “Yeah, I’d love to go back” with no desire or intention of actually doing it.
She doesn’t NEED to be in as good shape as Trish or Lita. She just needs to be in as good shape as Jenna Jameson (which takes a lot of work in itself). She just needs to look good naked.

Trish and Lita appear to have a love for fitness in their blood. Even looking at the old tapes of Lita training, she was into acrobatics, weight lifting, martial arts and yoga, and that hasn’t changed and Trish is really after my heart with her dedication to physical fitness. If I didn’t have to hold down an office job it would be my dream to just work out all day and make a living that way. I love those two together. I really wish they would do a career retrospective DVD on their rivalry with lots of backstage stories.

WWE did it with Mickie, though they stretched it out over nine months. She beat Trish at Wrestlemania, squashed Jazz (which no one had EVER done) at Head to Head, finished Lita at Survivor Series, and ended the tour by beating Victoria at New Year’s Revolution.
With the Jazz match, the commentators spent a lot of time on her accomplishments, her Championships, how she’d fought more men than women, then 2 minutes in, with them still talking about how powerful and dominating she was… BAM, Mickie-DDT.
But, she did take some losses to Trish, Lita, and Victoria during that, so the former Champions didn’t really get buried… Well, except for Jazz.
You know what I’d really like? A writing staff that actually knows how to write entertaining stories. It’s quite clear that Stephanie McMahon and her writing team have absolutely no talent. The entire WWE product is disastrous. Instead of a former Women’s Champion, I’d like for Paul Heyman to return and take control over the writing team.
