    Aaaaaaaa! Maryse!

  • xXxUniquelyiXxX

I know i’m gonna get so many negative replies to this comment, but in my opinion she sounds so egotistical.

    • Kaledrina

wasn’t it mickie james who said that maryse is the most like her character? ;)

    • Thomas

are we listening to the same interview?

      • squared.circle

For the most part, she sounded confident & optimistic towards her future, but there were instances where I sensed egotism. That’s not necessarily a bad thing; on Maryse it’s kind of charming, lol.

  • Dave Muscarella

Maryse is a Playboy model. I am sure she is used to having people praise her non-stop. I think that kind of atmosphere would make anyone have a big ego.

    • xXxUniquelyiXxX

      True.

  • Thomas

wow maryse’s english is so good! i didn’t know that she was so fluent in it.

  • mikeparis18

I thought she was HILARIOUS. She seems funny and sweet,I didn’t feel an ego, she actually sounded very appreciative but was hungry for more, and I think that’s great.

  • Thomas

maryse is hilarious and so talkative. great interview!

  • I <3 Maryse

She is very humorous lol and she seems sweet. And very ambitious..and smart :) not really egotistical but just wants more…anyway i loved it! Its cute how she knows like the exact day of things and whatnot, haha. I always loved her and respected her but i feel like i do a lot more now. Hearing her being herself and not her character really makes a difference. I’ll always miss her in WWE but she’s (hopefully) off to bigger and better things and i cant wait to see more of her :D

  • drewrey

Wow, I really like Maryse, and man her English has gotten sooo much better. I did not feel like she was egotistical at all, I do not know what some people are talking about when they say she sounds egotistical. She sounds like a very positive, fun woman. I really will miss her in the WWE, and I appreciate all she did. I hope she is successful in the future.

    • jdcabltv

she has spoken english for years, remember she is from QUEBEC, CANADA..they do speak BOTH ENGLISH AND FRENCH…most in quebec prefer to speak french, but will speak english, …WHEN THEY HAVE TO…

      • squared.circle

It is true that both English & French are spoken in Quebec, but many people get by without English, especially in smaller towns where communities are largely or entirely Francophone. Maryse didn’t learn to speak English fluently until she moved to L.A., which, if I remember correctly, was for the purpose of auditioning for the Diva Search. Although Maryse is from Montreal, she grew up in New Brunswick. & considering that NB is home to the largest French Canadian population outside of Quebec, she most likely wouldn’t have learned English well, if at all, if she lived in a Francophone town.

      • drewrey

@JDCABLTV- I realize that she is from QUEBEC, CANADA, and that people there do speak both FRENCH AND ENGLISH, buuuuuuuut she said herself that she barley knew English before she came to the WWE, which is why I said that her English has improved because I remember how she used to talk as opposed to the way she talks now!!!!!!!!

  • chrisP

A poster above mentioned that Maryse is probably used to having people praise her all the time. I think it would be more accurate to say that she never has people pointing out her delusions to her. If she doesn’t completely fade into obscurity, she should be happy and grateful.

  • http://youtube.com/kristalmelinafan kristalmelinafan

    Love Her!!!!!

  • http://youtube.com/kingofthegames95 Hasnan

aaawh. She is so lovable! I love her attitude.

  • jdcabltv

WOW…i was just getting fed up with her talking about herself, fashion crap, she is not even designing them, ‘she has someone doing it for her’, in other words, leetches, and yes people, she is in for a rude awakening…she isnt a very good actress, just watch her wrestle…LOL it was a very disappointing interview due to the fact, maryse…opened her mouth…just sayin…you can be in love with a picture, but not talk to it…LOL if i met her here in LA…I WOULD just have to say, “i gotta go..sorry, nice meeting you..” and think to myself as I walk away…”NOT!!” wowww…she does fit in here, in HOLLOW WOOD ONLY..the rest of LA would probably tell her to …well, i cant say it here…LOL

    • SteveSteve

      Lol wtf?

      • Valese

        ^ My sentiments, exactly…. Wtf?

    • Jake

It’s an interview about her. What else is she going to talk about?

    • norisclouds

I have to say I agree. She’s not really striking from a Hollywood perspective. She looks like any other too-bleached blond that just happens to have a French accent. There’s nothing about her to make her stand out in a Hollywood environment that made her stand out in wrestling.

      • Valese

Oh well if not Hollywood, then she’d fare much better in her endeavors in fashion. I for one am curious to see her outlet of clothing, I’ve always had a proclivity towards her fashion sense and clothing.

  • squared.circle

This was such a nice interview! I can’t thank Diva Dirt enough. :)

First of all, I wish Maryse the best of luck with her business ventures. It sounds like she has put a lot of work and preparation into House of Maryse & judging by her dealings with the 500+ retail stores across the U.S., i think it’ll do relatively well.

Now, I’m doubtful that she’ll be able to break into the film/theatre industry. As entertaining as Maryse is to watch, I don’t think she has a real chance at doing anything beyond commercial acting or, if she’s lucky & well connected, independent film work. She does not sound convinced that acting is a viable path for her to take, so I’m glad she kept it short where that was concerned.

Maryse seems very personable, which is nice. She is a bit of a braggart, but that isn’t a surprise, as I can’t picture her any other way, lol. Maryse’s account of the interaction she had with Trish following her first title win is a fine example of said egotism. I chuckled to myself as she tried to play it off, but I certainly took notice of that, haha.

What I enjoyed most was the emphasis she put on being a character, the development of such, and how she set herself apart from the other Divas, who, whether face or heel, largely suffered from GDD (Generic Diva Disorder). I like that she didn’t focus on her wrestling ability, because, at best, she was satisfactory. However, Maryse is well aware of her strengths & weaknesses, and as a Diva she capitalized on her quirky rendition of the snobby, self-important, bad-girl archetype. Being French-Canadian didn’t hurt either.

Although I often complained about Maryse’s lack of effort in the ring towards the end of her career, I will remember her as having a captivating personality in an era of one-dimentional Divas.

  • Bee_Miller

Loved her before and love her even more now. She’s hilarious. Also JDCABLTV that was a real fail of a comment huh? Trying to nail mean/witty/funny and just landing on lame …”LOL” ;)

  • http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/WWE_Divas/ art

“I would go back to WWE, for a million dollars and a main event match at Wrestlemania,” E-G-O, not gonna be happening…
she also thinks shes a great actress in her slam sports interview….shes obviously thinks shes better then she actually is…such a laugh..
gotta give her props for admitting she was a character/personality then a wrestler…

the cake bit was hilarious but its true, the divas are like the sugar or icing on the cake which are meant to be the good parts of the cake…yet still wwe doesn’t care for anymore….charisma & personality only get you so far when you cant back it up with wrestling because wrestling is all the divas get now…

    • RealMaryse

maryse can wrestle she showed that in 08 and 09 but than wwe just let her go evan tought she was the most entertaining diva ever so maryse had it all she know have to wrestle (wwe just didn`t let her show that) but this is still a show and she needs adittude that no other diva have today cuz some of the divas are better wrestlers than maryse but they are just boring and not likebal like maryse is and i realy enyoed this iterview it feel like it as over in a second while i just to am so bored during interviws i don` evan lisent so maryse was perfect diva for wwe and about that million and wrestlemania thing she was just being sarcastic saying she will probably never return so stop hating

      • RealMaryse

i wrote something weird up and i wanted to say that this interview was fun and felt like it was over in a second while other interviws are so boring i just can evan lisent to them

        • French.One

You should listen to Nicole Matthews interview.

      • Kaledrina

thinking that.. um, just because you wear clothes means all of a sudden you can design clothes.. i mean, does she know how to draw? ever taken an art class? studied fashion, been at a fashion school? my guess is no. so, she won’t design a single thing, just put her name all over somebody elses hard work. and, well, that all seems a bit ego-y to me, tbh.

        • http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/WWE_Divas/ art

@RealMaryse maryse was terrible even in 08-09 she got even worse after that…..

@Kaledrina i think she says what design &/or the fabrics used…Britney spears just puts her name on her perfumes so this is no different in that regard….

        • squared.circle

Art is right; that’s how the fashion industry works, for the most part. Heads of fashion houses have teams of designers that work for them & create their collections. Of course, they are usually designers themselves, but no, Maryse most likely won’t put anything to paper. She’s hired people for that.

The frangrance industry, as Art pointed out, works much the same way, especially for celeb fragrances. You pick what you think smells nice, but don’t have much of a role in the formulation. They have specific people for that.

I wonder how she will market her brand…

      • MickClique

all i remember is her doing during her last couple of years are hair pulls, not to be rude

        • http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/WWE_Divas/ art

@MickClique all i remember is those camel clutches or whatever their called LOL…

  • litafan2000

Nice interview, honestly I don’t believe Maryse was really ever interested in wrestling and used it as a stepping stone. I isn’t realize she was in the wwe for 6 years. I thought she was there for only four or five years.

    • Jake

She was there for five. Mayse said she got signed in the Summer of 06. She was doing her math wrong lol.

      2006-2007 = 1
      2007-2008 = 2
      2008-2009 = 3
      2009-2010 = 4
      2010-2011 = 5

      • http://www.youtube.com/user/xXalbertandcandiceXx?feature=mhum candicefan

its her 6th year with wwe, it counts as 6 different years.
        1-2006
        2-2007
        3-2008
        4-2009
        5-2010
        6-2011

but mathematically she’s been with WWE for 5 years and about 2-3 months but it still counts as 6 :) make sense

        • Jake

Yeah she has been at WWE in 6 different years but that isn’t how it works. I don’t go around and say that I’ve been in high school for 5 years lol.

  • rhysus

she seems like such a lovely person, i wish her the best of luck and one day i hope we see her back in the wwe! oh, and her english is amazing!

    • rhysus

i don’t get why a lot of you are saying she seems to have an ‘ego’.. she’s obviously excited to be moving on with her career and trying new things, give her a damn break!

  • Kaledrina

i really liked her in-ring character, overall look, the way she was progressing as a wrestler before her first injury and all that.

but isn’t she just a primary example of why wwe no longer invests in it’s divas? because people like her, maria, stacy, etc. just want to use wwe as a stepping stone to something bigger?

    • Jhonmarco

would it matter though? i mean look at serena she loved wrestling & got realeased & continued her passion but it mattered nothing to wwe. they choose to hire these girls, knowing they might not have that passion that a serena or a natalya has.

    • Jake

To my understanding Maria and Stacy didn’t want to leave WWE. Maria wanted to do side projects but WWE wanted to own what she did. She didn’t like that so they released her.

Stacy also wanted to stay in WWE but she requested at least a year off. WWE didn’t like that so they let her contract run out. There is a video up on YouTube where she says this.

Maryse seems to be the first “top diva” that lost interest in wrestling.

  • French.One

Nice interview, but unfortunately not that much about wrestling. She didn’t really looks like someone passionate about wrestling though.

I think I won’t remember her in one year, I already have forgotten her matches.

  • cutymania

    ooh catfight.

U know what cracks me up about diva releases? The ones that think that they are bigger thn WWE and all of a sudden after their release, think theyre talented?? Really Maryse you’re a fashion designer? Really Maria you can sing? Really Stacy you’re an actress?

    like…..wtf lol

    • Jake

Well they were apparently talented enough to pretty much get what they wanted. Maryse did get a fashion line, Maria’s songs were successful on itunes, and Stacy had made several guest appearances on many successful television shows…

      • cutymania

Uhh but were they anything special? Maria isn’t that great of a singer nor is Stacy that great of an actress. Just coz you sing it doesnt mean youre Whitney, just coz you act it doesnt mean youre Julia Roberts.

At least stacy hooked up with an a-lister, nw thats a true diva lol

        • Jake

Are they the best at what they do? No.

Did they get a hell of a lot farther than the other thousands of people who want to have a fashion line, a singing career, and a acting career? Yes.

    • norisclouds

I don’t really care for Triple H but I did feel he had a good point with regards to some of the talent: a lot of people get popular and think they can make it on their own without the marketing machine of WWE behind them because they underestimate how marketable WWE made them. Maryse might have a bit of succses because she owns her name, but if Stacy couldn’t make it on her own (and dating George Clooney and having a few magazine covers doesn’t count) I doubt she could. Trish already had a successful background and connections as a fitness model and was more over during a more popular era of wrestling. Torrie has been able to make a living, but it’s not like she’s skyrocketed after she left WWE. Look at what happened to Sable when she left.

Still, you can’t fault someone for trying to start a career and strike out on their own on their terms. I’m sure Maryse made more money in her years with WWE than I’ll make in the next 10 years of my life, she just doesn’t have the luxury of having a huge windfall of cash to catch her if she fails in this horrible economy. Lita for instance, who decided to have her own band for fun because she wanted to pursue her passion (which I was surprised to find) earned more than 450k a year for at least 3 years in WWE PLUS merchandise cut from Rated R and Team Xtreme merch. She also invested wisely, so she had a lot more room to do what she wanted and take chances than your typical diva striking out to do something risky.

      • perceval

Yeah, how the Big Two of Trish & Lita have thrived since leaving WWE just makes me love and admire them even more. Jazz has a 25 acre home, so she obviously did pretty well for herself, too.

Anyway, I do wish Maryse success in her new business ventures.

      • cutymania

fully fully agree! A lot of talent think theyr bigger thn WWE, when in reality, if it wasnt for them no-one would evn know who they were.

@Jake ur orig comment was ‘they were talented enough to get what they wanted’, they only got further coz of their WWE exposure. You cant tell me tht u wld knw Maria or Stacy as a singer/actress if it wasnt for WWE? “its not what u know, its hu u know”

Mind u I did recognise Maria from Outback jack, when she 1st poppd up in Diva search lol

        • Jake

          wow @ your typing.

  • Anthony

I loved Maryse as a personality, I never thought her wrestling skills were great, but her character was excellent. I don’t think she will be able to go many places in acting though, unfortunately for her, I don’t think she can mask that thick accent. I have to agree with others, I never thought Maryse had a real “passion” for wrestling. If she did, I have a hard time believing that she would turn it off that easily and move straight to another “passion”.

On a positive note, great Interview Melanie. I was in shock when I saw Maryse’s name!

  • Lita-Sault-666

Amazing Interview. I think the words ‘ego’ and ‘egotistical’ are being mistaken for confidence and excitement at the thought of where life could possibly take her in the future.
…& for some to say that Maryse will never make it to the big screne, as far as I’m concerned, you can never tell someone what they can & cant do. Maryse <3

    Thank You Diva Dirt :).

  • http://www.youtube.com/RingVixens Teri

    I LOVE this girl.

  • http://www.twitter.com/xTeamK2 Blonde Bombshell

I’m not sure in what she can be successful in her future but I wish all the best!

  • Taylor

I wish her the best in accomplishing her goals, but they seem too lofty for a beginner. I definitely did get a sense of disillusionment when she was talking about her business ventures. A simple example is when she stated that 500 retail stores would carry her fashion line. The best advice I can give to Maryse is to be smart with her words and avoid exaggerations, because there will be a line full of people waiting to call her out if none of what she says comes to fruition.

And I had to LOL at her description of meeting Trish backstage. All I’ll say — rather write — is it’s flattering that she likes to brag about meeting Trish. Who wouldn’t? It’s Trish. LOL.

    • perceval

What I would love to have seen was AJ’s reaction to meeting Trish. I can’t help but picture the backstage segment where Mickie met her, but for real. :)

      • Taylor

That was so cute! I can definitely picture AJ’s possible reaction, haha.
