Raw Redux (December 12th, 2011): Well, At Least We Got Lita!

I can honestly say that this will NOT be a Slammy Award worthy edition of the Raw Redux, but if Zack Ryder can win a Slammy for simply trending on Twitter (that was so not scripted, right??), then anything is possible. Alas, I’m not going to hold my breath and coincidentally, there’s really not a whole lot to talk about. We always knew there wouldn’t be, so there shouldn’t be any disappointment in anyone today. That said, I fully expect a barrage of negative comments and whiny moans over the fact Kelly Kelly won ‘Divalicious Moment of the Year.’ I’ve prepared myself, reminded myself that we all have the right of freedom of speech, and now I’m ready to get on with the show.

If only I could shake the visions of Christian from my head. Swoon!

Firstly, let me just say that Lita looks absolutely fabulous. She’s in great shape and still has a body to starve die for. I wouldn’t exactly call myself her biggest fan (except for when she got to have a live sex show with Edge, and then fandom was born from jealously and the need to wear my baggy skater pants low on my hips once again just to show off my thong…), but it was really great to see her last night. Obviously she was presenting the aforementioned ‘Divalicious Moment of the Year’, and the nominees were as follows…

* Beth Phoenix taking Eve Torres down and out with that most amazing Glam Slam from the top rope.
* Kelly pinning Brie Bella to win her first ever Divas Championship.
* Natalya placing Eve and Layla in a double Sharpshooter.
* And perhaps the most talked about Diva moment of the year, the debut of Kharma, or just anything involving her.

Lita announces Kelly as the winner, and the bubbly blond comes out looking absolutely fabulous. Love her dress, and well I just love Kelly. All you haters can just piss off. Anyway, fangirl aside, Kelly goes to accept her award and start her speech, but Beth and Natalya are quick to interrupt. Clearly, Beth feels as if she should have won (and since the award was for ‘moment’ of the year, and not for ‘Diva of the Year’, she has a pretty legit argument), and she snatches the award from Kelly’s hands. When Beth raises the Slammy in the air, Kelly takes exception and slaps her foe right across the face. She seriously slaps the heck out of Beth, like whoa. Beth is absolutely stunned, as well as Natalya, and Kelly takes her little gold statuette back. Beth has to be restrained by her bestie, and Kelly takes the chance to pose with Lita and give the crowd a nice photo-op.

Perhaps a teaser for a future match?

I definitely wouldn’t mind a Beth versus Lita match, or even a tag match. Any match with Lita involved would do it for me at this point. The Divas could only benefit from her presence, and she definitely looks like she would have no trouble getting back inside that right. As of right now, there’s nothing announced for the Divas at TLC (I think…), but we have SmackDown taping tonight. It will be interesting to see what goes on there, seeing as how they completely axed a huge angle that happened last week. Personally, I never thought it was a good idea to turn Kaitlyn heel. She has to way to much chemistry with AJ, and breaking them up would be a huge miscarriage of justice. I love the Chickbusters , and I know a lot of other people do as well.

In other Slammy news, Vickie Guerrero managed her main man and mine, Dolph Ziggler, to a win in a very impressive fatal four-way match that determined who would win a Slammy for the first superstar to trend on Twitter. To be fair, Ziggler and Ryder both trended at the same time, but since Ryder was higher I reckon he won by default. At least he lost, and Dolph won. And Rhodes and DB never once trended. Oh well. Dolph stole Zack’s Slammy, and proved once again why he is the most delicious heel ever.

Brie and Nikki presented an award, alongside Santino Marella.

He called them out on their Alberto Del Rio obsession and both girls got highly insulted. Both looked beautiful in red, which seems to be one of their trademark colors, and well, they were on TV. I’ll take it.

Eve and Alicia Fox were stage escorts for the evening. Eve’s dress was so fetch (Mean Girls reference), but Alicia continues to disappoint me when it comes to fashion. I do like the fact she took a risk for the Slammys, but I wasn’t exactly fond of it. The glam pants outfit just wasn’t my cup of tea.

Vickie also took to the stage to present an award alongside Goldust for ‘A-Lister of the Year’.

Goldust cracked a mean joke at our favorite cougar, but we won’t give him too much heat for it. He is the Golden One, after all. The nominees for ‘A-Lister of the Year’ were Hugh Jackman for managing Ryder to win over Ziggler, and I guess for punching my boo in the face. Snooki for competing at WrestleMania and shocking the world with the ‘Snooki Splash’. Random Cee-Lo Green for performing at (uhhh, which PPV was that again? Meh, I’ll just make something up…) for his sequined preacher’s robe. And last, but not least, The Muppets for hosting the Halloween edition of Raw. Snooki snatched up the prize, but couldn’t attend the show. She did, however, send a pre-taped message to the WWE Universe.

I’m not happy with her Zack Ryder support.

That was basically it, folks. It was a night of glitz, of glam, the best of Johnny Ace video package, of Christian’s return, and Masked Kane. The Divas were always going to be an after thought, but at least we got a sweet little teaser of what 2012 could possibly hold. I’ll take it. And because I’m Khaleesi, all of you will as well. Good day!

I’m proud of Kelly, and she deserves it.

Now if there was a ‘Divalicious Moment of the Year’ award AND a ‘Diva of the Year’ award, she shouldn’t have won. But since there was no DOTY, it’s good that Kelly won, if that makes sense.

I’m treating this award like it was DOTY, so that’s why Kelly deserves it as she IS the Diva of the Year. For a specific “Divalicious” Moment, Beth or Kharma should have won. But since this was the only Slammy for the divas, it’s good K2 won as it would be a shame for Kelly to walk out of the Slammys with no award after everything she’s accomplished this year.

Sorry for the rant, but I’m just trying to get my point across & I’m not sure if people will understand what I’m trying to say, lol.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/bxshadow23?feature=mhum EveLover

      I understood it ,and I completly agree :) .

    • http://www.twitter.com/onevoodoochild Yeah She Is Looking Good

      Couldn’t agree more.

Given the bittersweet descent of her career and that deplorable send off, it’s always a treat to see Lita on screen again. As I said before, she still looks gorgeous and in great shape; as for a potential in-ring return, that would depend. I think in that regard, I’d like her to put the current generation over.

I’m still dreaming of Kharma returning and destroying the two modern legends of WWE women’s wrestling — Trish Stratus and Lita!

  • The K@rmic HeeL

I had a terrible cold these days, so seeing Lita again kind of threw that out the window and I feel alot better. She’s just an awesome person and I love her old queen of xtreme deal when she was a babyface. She looked amazing last night. I hate to get giddy but, I was wishing and wishing for a Lita appearance this month and I got it! Now i want her in a rivalry w Beth.

Kelly made improvements, but I think Kharma and Beth deserved the trophy but whatever. I do like Kelly btw, i just don’t think she should’ve won.

Adifferentsame – I love Kharma too, but I don’t know that i could stand to see her destroy my two favorite girls, Lita and Trish Stratus. It would be must watch television though. ;)

    • adifferentsame

I’m thinking, unlike the WWE bookers, of longterm vision. Bring in Trish and Lita to, say, battle DOD — bill them both as the two women who inspired the current generation of Divas. How emphatic, then, would it be for the era of Kharma if she returned and immediately buried the two of them? Trish and Lita already have cemented legacies, so it wouldn’t hurt them, but give Kharma a great rub as the nexus of where the Divas division is heading.

The really good thing, however, is that even without that idea, Kharma’s presence speaks for itself and if creative implement even a fraction of her work in TNA in her run, it will already be leagues ahead of what they’re currently doing.

      • The K@rmic HeeL

I would definitley get behind that storyline. You’re also right about Kharma’s prescence, she was getting huge reactions while she was on RAW. Can’t wait for her eventual return.

      • Caroline_Shea

^ This. You NEED to be on the Creative Team. Good lord, that would be an awesome storyline.

        • adifferentsame

I’ve overdosed on caffeine today so excuse me if I ramble…

This is why Kharma’s entrance was instantaneously hot on the lips of the wrestling stratosphere; there was Michelle McCool, a history making woman who the division had controversially revolved around for years, being served as ceremonial bait for this new force of nature.

This is what the Divas division has been lacking since Lay-Cool disbanded and Kharma’s abbreviated debut: a persona that the division is conceived around. Beth Phoenix and Natalya could have easily remedied that if they were not blighted by the haphazard booking and hapless scripting of this inane models versus wrestlers debate.

    • LadyGoDiva

Seeing Lita vs Kharma or Trish vs Kharma would be something I wouldn’t mind seeing on RAW. Seeing a good quality Divas style matches these days are hard to find now.

  • Krazyvickay

I honestly think Beth should won the award. I probably would of been more accepting of her win if Kelly was against Brie’s title win, Eve’s title win, and Brie and Kelly’s submission match. The slammys mean nothing anyway. You carry it around for a couple weeks and brag about something no one cares about. Plus are the divas going to get a match @ TLC or what.

  • jayjayholler

So nice to see Lita again – It’s like going abroad to a different speaking country and then coming back to your own.

Lita looks amazing, however I would of much more enjoyed seeing her winning a slammy award but hey ho.

I ever so badly miss the beauty and brawn of the divas such as Lita, Jacqueline, Molly Holly and Ivory.

I’m not knocking current WWE Divas because they have vastly improved, but that is all they have done (vastly improved). I don’t believe they are worthy to hold a candle to some of the divas of the last generation.

  • missawesomeness

    well it was obviously fixed
    and you know
    beth’s was a move
    nattie was a move
kharma using the implant buster (move)
kelly winning the champion ship to be honest the divalicious moments were uneven in my opinion.

    • norisclouds

It was weird. They should’ve just made it Diva of the Year. Why did they make it a moment? It exposes the business. All of these wrestling moves were shown to be less important than a basic roll-up, and I DO think Kelly should’ve won Diva of the Year, but it was strange to make it Moment of the Year for that very reason.

  • Bethinho

the award has nothing to do with deserving, justice or fairness.it has all about moment.Kelly has been in Maxim´s cover so it was natural that Vince gave the award to her.
i would only be in favour of a DOD vs Trish/Lita IF the outcome would be DOD going over and winning, because let´s face it DOD lacks terribly credibility, even from their beginning.
leave Kharma alone, when she returns she needs to face two credible Divas and not two jokes like DOD curretly are, where they seem to be competing with JR in a “embarrasing moments” streak….

  • http://www.youtube.com/rockinred45mvs RR45

I knew she was going to win but it would’ve been cooler if they had Diva of the Year, gave that to Kelly and gave this award with a different name to someone else.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/bxshadow23?feature=mhum EveLover

Im glad kelly one ,this girl deserved it . She accomplished ALOT ,more than any other diva this year. And like ADAAAM said ,there was only One Slammy and kelly should’ve gotten it. But If it was up to me ,I would’ve had DOTY & Divalicious moment . Have beth or kharma win moment of the year & Kelly DOTY ..it would’ve made more sense . But Anyways ,Congrats to kelly :D.

Also ,Lita looks amazing ! I hope we actually see more of her :)

  • WweLitafan4ever

I knew Kelly Kelly was going to win.
She had the best year of any diva in 2011.
AWESOME TO SEE LITA!SHE LOOKED GREAT!

  • LadyGoDiva

Ima be honest and say when I saw that Kharma was in a catergoy that was named “Divalicious” had me scratching my head because Kharma isn’t really Diva material but not every Diva has to be like that.

Anyways I was confused on why we didn’t have the Diva of the Year catergory because if you look at K2 year in 2011 starting at the Royal Rumble to where she won the Divas title in June.

But I want to know whether or not we’ll see a divas match at TLC?
Not seeing a divas match on RAW didn’t bother me, but anyways it was great to see Lita again to which she looked great.

  • mariah.

Random thought: Is it wrong that I find the look on Eve’s face after the Super Glam Slam kinda funny. She looked gone.

  • Melina&Mickie4ever!

Im counting this award as Diva Of The Year ! Crazy Kellz deserved it , she had a tremendous year. Haters can hate all they want its already written in history and you cant do jack shit about it.

    Congrats Crazy Kellz!
P.S That dosent mean I want her back in the title picture lol

Lita!!!! Lita!!!! Lita!!!! Lita!!! She looked amazing and in great shape i do hope this was a teaser and wwe & Lita are willing to work together.Lita vs Beth Pheonix would be Epic , or Even Natalya. I woudnt mind seeing Crazy Kellz & Lita vs D.O.D as long as it includes Lita in the ring with Beth & Natalya.

  • The K@rmic HeeL

ADifferentSame _ You’re very observant, so I would love to hear your thoughts on who the little red headed girl represents in the alleged Y2J promo?

    (Y)ear 2012
    (2)nd day
    (J)anuary

“The answer, is when SHE tells us. She holds the mystey of my arrival, of my rebirth. For when I beckon(= summon, invite) her, I will return to claim what is mine.”

I’m sure I’m reading into it far too much, but I think it could possibly be Lita. As DivaDirt mentioned, they probably teased and tested the waters to see what reaction Lita would garner and despite a poor crowd..I think it went very well, all things considered. The reason I suspect Lita, is simply because when they mentioned SHE, they focused on her green eyes looking intensely…Lita titantron anyone?

It is rumored Jericho will return to enter the Royal Rumble and challenge CM Punk at Wrestlemania. What do you guys think? And how does a Diva, if not Lita figure into all of this? Or could it be Stephanie and Triple H? Or Shane and Stephanie?

    • adifferentsame

      Christy Hemme.

      I’m kidding.

Honestly, who knows? To me the promos strike more as a fundamental reference to the biblical “messiah” facet of Y2J’s persona. Perhaps with further promos there will be more material for supposition in regards to a Diva-related return.

      • The K@rmic HeeL

Aww, I was hoping for another answer, but the truth is better and you’re probably right.

    • French.One

I think they won’t invest that much in a women right now.
(Plus it’s said she’s wasn’t here for a long time)

    • perceval

“She” relates to someone of the female persuasion. The little girl has been more prominent with each promo.

The returning Superstar appears to be Jericho, but it could be Undertaker of Shawn Michaels. There’s a good case for each of them, though not as strong as the case for Jericho. Now, for some ideas for who “She” is…

Michelle McCool… If it’s Taker as the returning Superstar, it’s definitely her. The religious imagery fits, given her cross symbol. Sooo many Divas would be on the target list for revenge. Layla, Beth, Kelly, Vickie, Trish… Kharma. Everyone who contributed to her fall. And we even just had a reminder of her final moment, there…

Lita… The eyes and stance fit.

Stephanie McMahon… “Control.” Plus, a past association with Jericho.

Trish Stratus… “Look within” fits her whole Zen thing. “Control” could be mastery of self. Past association with Jericho. Plus, it’s Trish, and thus is always a possibility whenever a Diva is going to do something. Speaking of Toronto girls…

Angelina Love… Conspicuously absent from the tapings for the next two Impacts, has all but disappeared even before then, suddenly not attached to Winter… Long shot, but she would need a big debut if she jumped ship. And hey, if people are going to throw Kurt Angle’s name out there as the returning Superstar, I can throw Angelina’s out there as a possible “She.” :)

Sara Del Rey… Another long shot, but she already has the perfect entrance music for this angle.

Jillian Hall… Because, um, I just like her and thought she could have been used much better than she was.

Melina… As she once said, “Wouldn’t THAT be a kick in the head?”

      • The K@rmic HeeL

JoMo and Melina, that would be something wouldn’t it? I miss Melina too. Nice options, I was thinking Y2J and Lita, but I’m probably wrong. “SHE” is probably WWE…as in the Bible, they refer to nations or people’s as women. It’s undoubtedly WWE and Y2J, but it’s always fun to explore the possibilities.

        • perceval

They’ve never referred to the company in feminine terms, before. And why add a physical girl to the promos?

Lita’s a very good possibility because, if you’re going to bring her or Trish back for anything, it would have to be for more than just Beth & Natalya. Beth and Natalya have been so discredited that there’s no way they could be made worth Lita’s and Trish’s attention.

        • The K@rmic HeeL

That sucks for them, I really like Beth and Nattie and they deseve so much more. If TNA can get a second show going ala Smackdown. I would love for the DoD to head on over there to do something great with their careers.

  • AKA_AK

Great to see Lita make an appearance. Although you could almost sense her dissapointment at the lack of reaction she got, if any. Felt sorry for her, big time.

I must say as well, Eve looked absoloutely stunning, damn, that dress, those Legs. Candy-Liscous!

Are we going to even get a Divas match at TLC? I Seriously doubt it.

    • WweLitafan4ever

      Lita looked disappointed?

      • AKA_AK

Who wouldn’t be, especially when you thought you left a legacy in an industry like the WWE, only to get not even considered a bird chirp of a reaction. It was a spit in the face of Lita’s career, and it was a damn shame.

On another note, she was looking FINE!

        • WweLitafan4ever

She looked really pretty;but yeah,Im a huge fan of Lita and I am very disappointed with the reaction she received. This has been the 1st time in 4 years that she appeared/spoke infront of a live audience in the WWE and that is the pop the crowd gave her?
To be fair, everyone who returned got a very lukewarm reaction.

If I was Lita,I’d be disappointed but IDK if Amy is upset w/the reaction.

        • http://www.youtube.com/user/bxshadow23?feature=mhum EveLover

Tbh ,her reaction wasnt that bad. It was decent ,& When she said “its been a minute since I’ve been out here” they gave her a big pop as well. So it wasnt as bad as you guys are making it out to be. Though ,She did deserve a bigger reaction.

        • adifferentsame

I don’t think Trish Stratus received an outstanding reaction for her brief return earlier this year either, and as with Lita, I wouldn’t say it was a mark on their legacy. The wrestling audience has arguably moved on since their respective departures, not to mention the product has dramatically changed. It could just be that those tuning into WWE programming just aren’t as familiar with their work as we are.

        • norisclouds

The whole show was dead. The crowd was barely into Road Dogg, Rey Mysterio, Foley, Milliondollar Man, ignored Cena, and were lucky to pop for Kane.

    • norisclouds

I don’t think she was disappointed. I was listening with headphones on–but the crowd was quiet all night and she said “Wow you remembered” when a Lita chant was starting up. Also, when she was speaking there were fans randomly screaming “WE LOVE YOU LITA!” and “COME BACK LITA!”

  • Bethinho

ii think a Lita vs Beth or Natalya would have an outcome too predictable…..

  • French.One

Kelly gets an award and doesn’t even have a mic segment … the wwe really trust this woman !!!

    • http://www.aim.com kleinberg97

      completely agree

    • perceval

Well, it IS Kelly. Beth, who has never been Trish or Mickie on the mic, has had to do almost all the talking during this several month feud with Kelly. What does that tell you about Kelly’s mic skills? There was no excuse for her to use her “COME ON!” catch phrase. :)

  • GailKim95

I really don’t care about anything except the fact that Lita returned. Even if it was only for one night it was amazing and hopefully she comes back. But i think a ladder match between Lita and Beth would be awesome!

    • Bethinho

would be awesome, but with a very predictable outcome, even more when Beth has her credibility less than zero….

  • unscripted & flawless

  • norisclouds

WWE.com has an article up about Lita’s return.

They decided to put up this as one of the best tweets:

“@Clare_Hardy_HHH: Did CM Punk give a shout out to Lita’s dog last night!? #Raw”

Do with that what you will…

  • Kessuki

clearly the slammy didnt go to the right person. if anyone was to get it – KHARMA’S debut should have and beths top rope glamslam would have been not far behind.

i dont know why they keep giving kelly a rub with lita and trish when she is clearly already over with the pervy audience. if anyone needs it, it should be eve.

and disappointing to see the men featured on divadirt. this site should cover women not ugly dudes – unless its anyone khaleesi deems hot.

*** cryssi note: i do love the power of editing, and randy is not hot

    • Cryssi

All joking aside, your opinion of Randy being a hot guy, is your opinion. Personally, he does nothing for me, other than he was really nice in person when I met him.

And the focus of this website has always been on women. One or two mentions means nothing, especially when the male mentions are of them as nothing more than eye candy. So seriously get off your high horse. If you can’t see that this site is centered around women, then there’s really no help that can be offered to you.

  • Kessuki

the best thing about this segment was LITA. everyone else was just not that important. Lovely seeing Amy looking so well and still in good shape-love to see her and trish on raw the same night. please wwe dont screw it up by pairing lita with kelly MODEL kelly vs DOD. save it for wrestlemania Xtreme Stratusfaction vs DOD.

    • The K@rmic HeeL

Xtreme Strausfaction is a great name for Lita/Trish team. Too bad they never used it earlier on. Would have looked nice when reviewing their careers and how they crossed paths from time to time. Lita and Trish vs. Divas of Doom would be awesome!

  • VarsityBaseDude

Pinning Gone Wrong came out, got slapped, and became a laughing stock of the division. They could have easily destroyed her on stage… and potential even involve Lita. Oh well. Good to see Lita. She looks great. All the girls look great, but the Divas? They have no direction.

  • http://twitter.com/BroskiRomano Ryan

nice cheer for kelly. Lita hardly got an ovation =(

btw yeah i think im gonna feel silly now..because wwe is a kids programming show now..umm….the divas segments are done really seems with NXT gone anything good is just..none existant in wwe

  • dah-dah-dah-diva

This has been the first WWE event that I’ve actually wanted to watch in full (not just catch the Diva’s match on YouTube) just by seeing these two videos. I really like how they made the nominee’s look and stuff. Wish there would have been brawl and like have Lita double clothesline Beth and Nattie.
