Former WWE Women’s Champion Layla, who is due to return from a torn ACL and MCL injury in early 2012, is reportedly in line for a Divas Championship feud upon her return.
The latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Layla is due to feud with Beth Phoenix over the belt when she returns to action.
The report also notes that Natalya, Beth’s current BFF, may be in line for a title feud with Beth too at some point next year.
Layla has been on the shelf since May after announcing her injuries. The injuries stemmed from her hard-fought “Loser Leaves WWE” match with Michelle McCool at Extreme Rules, the latter’s retirement match. Layla had surgery and has been rehabbing for the past several months.

Layla is a decent wrestler in my opinion. The tables match proved that she can hang with the best.
And if Alicia fox won the championship well then the divas division would be alot worst. Alicia fox is an absolutely awful wrestler/performer/anything.

Agreed, Fox is way more talented then Layla imo. Layla is the better talker, but I have not found anything good from her in the ring. But yes Layla proved herself once, but Fox has proved herself number of times, even against rookies Kaitlyn and Tamina.

Alicia has done a load more in the ring than Layla in my opinion and I’m not talking about as in years, but as in moves. I kind of agree, Alicia can be more aggressive in the ring than Layla.

Agree with my Alicia Fox fans. With these recent turn of events, I actually prefer heel Alicia as she’s more aggressive and seems more solid in the ring. She was much more comfortable wrestling as a face when she debut with DJ Gabriel.
But I’m still sure she will make that transition. For some reason, they seem scared to push Alicia. As much wins she’s gotten, she’s never really gotten a lot of time in the ring lately and never really gotten any character development. I do not like this new “happy, bubbly and perky” Alicia. They need the writers to seriously bring her a character like Laycool got.
Layla, IMO never was as good as people made her. She was the charismatic half of Laycool but even IMO, Michelle was right on her heels. Like Alicia, I don’t see how Layla is going to fare well as a face as I think the bitch role was just something she did so well. I must admit that she has improved greatly in the ring, but even that – people exaggerate.
I say Alicia and Layla are on the same level, with Layla being the more consistent of the two. All Alicia needs is to continue training, a “proper” push like Beth, Laycool, Kelly and Eve have been getting and just time. She’s not as bad as anyone is saying, and Layla certainly isn’t as good.

I don’t know why but for some reason I want Kharma to feud with Eve. I just feel in my gut that they would have great chemistry together both in the ring and in an compelling storyline. Also, I think their different styles would mesh very well together because it could produce some of the best matches that Eve’s ever had.

The Wrestling Observer never fails to publish the most blatantly obvious material, and pass it off as journalism.
By the way, I’ve heard that there has been discussion recently amongst WWE creative, that Kharma will receive a major push, if and when she returns next year. The plan is to use Kharma as the focal point of the Divas division, just as she was when she debuted. Beth Phoenix and Kelly Kelly are on the shortlist of opponents she will feud with on return.

I can’t wait for this woman to return, but on another note it’s sad how WWE hasn’t even tried to build up their talent in the year that Kharma was away. You’d think they’d want their women to look a little better than they did when Kharma debuted.

I’m a little curious to see this push because the only time Layla has wrestled face was back when she was a complete noob, so I’m wondering how her face style of wrestling will differ now that she’s a much more skilled and experienced performer, so I would she shows us some new moves. Plus, if those recent pictures of Layla looking more buff are any indication she might start using more aggressive looking moves against Beth to look more believable when Layla’s on the offensive.

I’m excited, I’ve been LOVING Alicia’s push recently, and her and Layla are my two favourite divas by far.

The only thing i dont really wanna see is Layla vs Beth again , I mean we got it already so we know they have good chemistry. To be honest, I had a feeling this would be the plan all along. These were push over feuds until Layla returned. Kelly, Eve, & Alicia feuded with Beth, came up short, proving Beth’s dominance in the division. Now her and Layla will have a nice feud. It makes perfect sense.

I’m seriously starting to wean myself off of the product because it’s been horrendous lately and frankly, it’s a waste of time to keep up. me too, what i heard is that layla will go back to do further training in fcw at january 2012 and return at the time when she faces beth phoenix at royal rumble. i think beth will retain but it would be good if layla wins her first divas championship with no help this time. plus it could retell the story of layla pinning beth in a handicap match and imagine michelle mccool return as a face and helps layla to win the title when nattie nearly costs beth her match. that would be kewl but the only diva rite now who i think is worthy is natalya. the girl has to take the backseat until wrestlemania which i think will be the time when beth and nattie collide. i want kharma to return too.

On the topic of Alicia. I agree that there are some kinks that she needs to work out, and I’m not talking about her weave. I have faith that, with time, Alicia can improve her ring work. She has the potential to be an awesome face, and from what I’ve seen, also has the ability to work the crowd. It doesn’t hurt that Foxy has a distinct gimmick either. I’m rooting for her.

Alicia can be sloppy as hell. Though it’s her “signature” in some way, it can be dangerous sometimes lol.
But here’s what I think should happen: Have Beth feud with Alicia first, then Beth can say she’s beaten all Eve, Kelly AND Alicia and out comes Layla to attack Beth. Then during the Layla vs. Beth feud they should start teasing the break up of DOD which will then lead to the Beth vs. Natalya feud.
But the Alicia and Beth feud should be a proper feud. I don’t want it to be made of 2 minute matches and PPV matches with no segments or any build up whatsoever. :) I am excited for Layla, though!!!
