In just over 24 hours we’ll be saying goodbye to 2011 and ushering in 2012. Usually around this time we tend to get all sentimental, looking back at the best bits of the year and what we loved — but I’m going to do something different and tell you what annoyed me this year. And since it’s 2011, I’ll try my best to narrow the multitude of things that annoyed me to just 11…
1. People taking “models vs wrestlers” too far. See here.
2. No ‘Diva of the Year’ Slammy. Does Kelly Kelly want to tell her mom she had a ‘divalicious moment’ this year or that she was Diva of the Year? I know which I’d prefer. *Shakes fist at WWE*
3. Miss Karen being fired. No, I will NOT get over this. It was an injustice and Sting should be sued.
4. Lack of pin-up strong movement. On paper, Beth and Natalya‘s pin-up strong movement was an exciting new direction for the Divas division, and it could’ve been the big kick in the butt the Divas division needed. In execution, however, Beth and Natalya have had one arm tied behind their backs, parodying LayCool almost, instead of being the ruthless predators that we think they should have been.
5. Michelle McCool retiring. Michelle, I’m super happy for you and all, but the selfish part of me wants to see you wrestling every week. You can come back any time…
6. TNA letting Jackie Moore go. Why bring Jackie back to only stop using her a few months later? Jackie is a veteran and deserved more respect.
7. Lack of emphasis on Knockouts Tag Team Championships. The tag titles in TNA seem to just be props when they could be so much more. In 2011, TNA had the opportunity to build a decent tag division featuring its own storylines and feuds with the likes of TNT and Sarita & Rosita. Make them mean more!
8. Fans not be able to give credit where its due. Hey, you don’t have to like every single person ever, but you can also step back objectively and praise someone when they’ve earned it.
9. Knockouts Championship hot potato. Just as the title was getting back on track with lengthy reigns for Madison Rayne and Mickie James, the Knockouts Championship began flip-flopping on a monthly basis, which in my opinion, hurts the credibility of the belt.
10. WTF happened to SmackDown? At this point, Raw is a hopeless place (thanks, Rihanna!) with one minute matches, but for a while there, SmackDown did allow the girls to have longer matches. Slowly but surely in 2011 that time and focus has slowly deteriorated to alarmingly Raw-like levels. Is nothing sacred?
11. Where is Naomi? It’s been over a year since NXT Season 3 and I cannot fathom why Naomi is the last of the girls from that season to receive a call-up. This girl is the future!
So, those are the 11 things that annoyed me — well, the ones that I can write publicly, anyway. What annoyed you in 2011?

At this point I’m holding out hope that Naomi is the “She” as the herald of IT BEGINS.
Here’s another annoyance: Roll-ups. I don’t mind Kelly getting some wins over DoD, but for Pete’s sake, too many roll-ups is damaging to both the heel and face, making both look weak and incompetent. Would it have killed them, if it’s not believable for Kelly to use a “hold” attack like K2 or some other move on Beth/Natty, to instead use a striking attack like, say, a simple super kick? That’s always good. You could even call it the Kelly Kick.

One more annoyance: AJ’s lack of a push.
I thought we were gonna get it with the whole Chickbusters break-up, but then they went and pulled that out from under our feet. The girl is proven to be able to go in the ring, she has a unique appeal in both looks and character, AND she provides a much more striking dynamic against the DoD due to size difference.

I am so with you on #8. Like most people won’t give Kelly Kelly her credit. See that’s is something that I refuse to NOT let myself do. I might not like K2 and I cringe when I see her pop up on my screen, but I will NEVER hesitate to give this girl her props. She might not be all perfect in the ring, but she has come a long from when she first came to WWE. This girl is a former Divas Champion. Now be honest, how many of you thought 5 years that she would accomplish something like that.

What annoyed me in 2011:
- WWE was a waste of my time this whole year.
- The diva fan community.
- Mistreatment of Jackie and Sarita.
- How Gail Kim stans were normal until she won the title, then they went ass-backwards psycho.
- DOD in general, from their gimmick, to their matches, to their acting. At least they can wrestle, that makes everything better, right? /Sarcasm.
- Hiren retiring (FML.)
- Nikki being “Better” than Brie.
- Karen Jarret’s relevance. (Why? It’s not that hard to scream and yell like a banshee and wear short dresses. She was like a robot, she had no fluid ability to cut a promo. She never has.)
- Finally, Su Yung’s release from FCW.

- pointless promos between Cena etc. taking up Diva time that we needed, leading to 1/2 minute matches.

- Divas only getting 3 minutes at Wrestlemania, yet Cole and Lawler get 11 minutes of pure crap.

- Aksana and Naomi not wrestling in 2011 (those lame battle royals don’t count)
- fans never being happy, ever, whether it be Beth as Divas champion, Trish returning, someone being heel, an indy wrestler/model being signed, can’t please some people.

- Lita getting a weak pop from the ungrateful crowd at the Slammys.
- Kharma not being able to wrestle (I know it’s not WWE’s fault but I really wanted Kharma vs McCool/Melina/Gail before their departures.
- non wrestlers on Tough Enough instead of real women (I guess at least Rima wanted to learn and tried hard but still, Michelle and Ariane… dear lord)

Aksana and Naomi had both matches but were in FCW.
As about Gail Kims quitting and cutting all strings through her wwe bashing, I think she did it mostly to gain TNAs trust aswell so they won’t fear she might used them as a stepstone to go back to wwe in the future but on better terms and with more for her to get.

disagree with number 7, I feel Melina’s run in WWE was up anyway, she had conquered everything in her wrestling career, however, her 6 year run with WWE was highly impressive and I commend her on that, sometimes they have to be let go or they will become stale.
Although I am annoyed Melina is gone, there was nothing left for her to achieve, 2x Divas and 3x Womens Champ, feuds with greats like Trish, Mickie, Beth, Candice, Michelle, Natalya – but the way she left was brutal and I think it was because of her elimination from the Diva royal that got her fired

Melina did have a very impressive career in the WWE, I agree with you there.
But there are Divas like Mickie, Trish and Kelly Kelly. Those Divas have had 5+ years in the WWE, and have always been used throughout those 5+ years. I wish Melina was the same as those three, but that’s partially because the Diva’s Division this year had hit an all time low (apart from when Kharma debuted and when LayCool were featured)

The Bella Twins: Why give Brie a title and just leave Nikki in the dust? I dont know why but that really annoyed me. They could have done a co-champions thing. I just think it’s kinda of unfair to keep the twins a team but only give one the belt.
Alicia Fox’s Weave
The way WWE handles number one contender situations. There never seems to be a real one.
Aksana: Who flirts with someone for 7 months and have the same stupid music play in the background, yet all she got out of it was a costume battle royal and a one time ring announcing job. What’s next.
Roll-Up after Roll-Up after Roll-Up.
I have a bad feeling Naomi will be released. I dont think they have a role for her.
And finally, the arguements that ensure between any diva, knockout or such. People have a right to their opinions. Calling others whores or bitches or ignorat is too repeptitive. And it gets old fast.
But it wasn’t a terrible year. It wasn’t a good year for the WWE at all, but in terms of the Divas and KOs and Women Wrestlers, it wasn’t that bad of a year.

The 9 that I listed above are in no particular order. The other 2 things that annoyed me in 2011 are things I’d like to elaborate more on:
- The mentality in the WWE that the men should be superior than the women. I do believe that it has existed for a very long time now. But it was Gail Kim’s first shoot interview back in October that definitely shed more light into it.
And finally:
- Kelly Kelly to Natalya: “You know what I’m gonna do (to honor the Divas’ legacy)? I’m gonna beat Beth Phoenix at NOC (something like that).”
I don’t know if anybody remembered this (or knew about this) but it happened during a #1 contender’s match for the Divas title. It was between Beth & Eve and Kelly and Nattie were at commentary. I don’t know if it was just poor choice of words on Kelly’s part or it was a line fed by the writers. But just hearing those words coming out of Kelly’s mouth – it really annoyed me to no end.
I mean really… what does THAT have to do with honoring the Divas’ legacy?

Girl I thought I was the only one who hated her theme song. It….is…..terrible, terrible, terrible. I enjoy the Jersey Shore, but for some reason I wanted to run head first into a wall when Snooki showed up and don’t get me started on her Wrestlemania appearance.
