As previously noted, the new season of The Biggest Loser kicked off on NBC last night featuring former TNA star Kim Nielsen, who wrestled as Desire.

Exclusive: Former TNA Star ‘Desire’ Kim Nielsen Talks ‘The Biggest Loser’, Breaking Back in TNA & More

On the premiere episode, Kim talked about the story of her career-ending back injury when she broke her back during a TNA dark match. The show also featured never seen before footage of that match and Kim’s injury. It looks as though TNA supplied the footage to NBC.

Watch the clip below:

Thoughts: Pretty emotional scene involving Kim. Wishing her the best on the show.

What a strong woman, such a lovely person.
It was hard to watch her get that injury but I was amazed to hear she got up, finished the match and walked to the back – so much respect for her – well done!

I hope she goes far in the competition and loses weight, reaching her ideal weight and re-gains some of her self-confidence which she lost after putting some on.

Good luck Kim, and well done! :) <3

My Favorite TNA knockout of all time, how i miss her so much in TNA :(

  3. I Really Hope if her injuries are all healed, if she looses all the weight that TNA could sign her again, such a lovely person, inside and out

i wonder without the back injury Desire could have been the first KO’s champion not gail Kim

Was that Mercedes Martinez who suplexed her? Sure look like her.

    Yes, it was.

I think you’re wrong. I’m pretty sure it was Trinity.

    Nope it was Mercedes Martinez

Another example for everyone of us, that shows how fast everything can be lost in a few seconds.

At least she got better and didn’t ended up in a wheelchair or worse. :(

Very happy for her that she found the strength to come back on her feet and start fighting to lose that weight and get healthy and more motivated again.

    Never give up Kim! :)

Life can be full of pain and tragedy but it also holds wonders for everyone of us.
    Just don’t lose hope!

I remember wen I first got into wrestling and had seen her I thought she was sooooo beautiful, and omg she’s tough, I can’t imagine getting up and finishing a match after just breaking my back, and I want to be a wrestler at that

  10. She was never a TNA star really..

But shes a nice person and Im all for pple loosing weight! My hats off to you Kim!

I don’t think she could come back. Because remember Torrie she said she would never wrestle anytime soon because of the back injury. I hope the best for her.

best of luck to kim on biggest loser hopefully realize her wishes

  13. i felt really sad watching that :( i mean wow.

  14. that was sick to watch….it was clearly the person who suplexed her fault as they couldn’t hold her & just dumped her & she landed on her lower back first…

hope she goes far because it sounds like she really wants it…her career didn’t last long but i thought she was beautiful back then & didn’t know what happened to her…

    Alchi091 Reply:

Seriously, you probably never watched Mercedes Martinez wrestle to have said that. She is doing that move to so many of people each years and nobody gets injured.

First of all, It’s really sad that she got injured and I never hope anybody gets injured… But it’s the reality in wrestling. Each moves done have the possibility to give injury to someone.

I’ve watched enough wrestling in my life to see that “Desire” was not ready to get in the ring. I haven’t seen 1 GOOD bump and safe bump from her in all the matches I have seen. All the wrestlers that see that move done can tell you that her upper body was not straight enough to take that move, that she was too sloppy as she lands in the mat.

This is non other than TNA fault to have put somebody that was not ready in the ring, period.

The Fisherman Buster is a move that Mercedes is doing every matches and it’s just sad that this video portrayed her as the bad girl who took the dream away from somebody that never was a big star in the industry.

Sad that she got injured, but every wrestlers know by going in the ring that wrestling is tough…!

    art Reply:

at that time she wasnt trained enough & she was struggling to even do the move….
the girl just dumped her to the mat & was clearly struggling…desire was pretty decent…watch her verse april hunter &/or trinity….

    Alchi091 Reply:

The girl was clearly struggling? Really… check the hundreds of matches Mercedes had after that and she is doing that move always the same way.

And I’ve seen those 2 matches before I posted, and her technique was not good enough to be in the ring, her bumps were not good… Bumps being not good, this has en effect on her whole body as she lands on the mat the wrong way, so it has a direct effect on her body.

    art Reply:

Mercedes just dumped the move down & real stiff looking as well..
that wasn’t desires fault at all & Mercedes shouldn’t have just dropped desire in that awkward position…
Mercedes body was all shaking trying to hold the move up how is that desires fault…

its not wonder shes done the move better now..after almost killing/crippling someone you have to get better….

also in 2003, MM only had 2 1/2 years of experience. I remember a Mickie James match for Kiryoku Pro in 2002 that had some sloppy spots she did. Comparing 2003 to 2012 is night and day. Plus MM didn’t get another look from TNA for 5 years until late 2008 where it was much better tryout.

Also I have seen this footage on two occasions on TNA Weekly PPV’s, the first was I think the first or 2nd week after she returned from Injury where they showed this clip. And then another one where they showed this clip and then Cut to a shot of Trinity as this was the feud they were in.

I knew it existed and if Kim did not get injured, I can assure you this match would’ve been on Xplosion as it was shot during the show.

“after almost killing/crippling someone you have to get better….”

Ok, just stop, you make a fool of yourself. Anyway, me I’ll stop to write here cause you just proved you don’t know wrestling at all by claiming that. The way she bumped, she could had have the same injury from a simple cothesline.

Desire didn’t know how to bump well. She didn’t know how to take that bump. That’s the end of the story.

    art Reply:

you can clearly see Mercedes just dropped her in that position of course you can get injured from a clothesline it happens…
plus i do know wrestling i wanted to be one & got the training…
i only stopped when my brother got his back broken in a brainbuster by the trainer….

Mercedes got better & she also cut desires career short end of story..desire would have known how to take that move or else she wouldn’t have been getting it in the first place….

I’ve seen that clip so many times…and I can’t remember where from. But I remember the commentators or someone saying it was Trinity hitting the Fisherman Buster, but it’s clearly Mercedes Martinez.

I might actually tune into this show just to see how Kim fairs.

My heart goes out to those ppl on the biggest loser and especially Kim. I hope she makes it all the way back loses the weight keeps it off and gets her lfe back. Maybe if she still has the desire in her no pun inyended to wrestle again I hope that works out for Kim too

Just wondering, this match never actually aired on TV, correct? She said it was on live tv, others have said it was a dark match…

    Melanie Reply:

She said in our interview that it was a dark match. It never aired on TV or the footage probably would’ve been on YouTube all these years. Sounds like she just said it was on live TV for dramatic effect on the show, or she meant it was a live event/TV taping.

I watched the episode on my comcast cable on demand 3 times to make sure i did not miss Kim’s segment and it was not on it WHY? Thanks for posting it Melanie =)

My favorite knockout of all time. Love you Kim

  20. jim462

When TNA first started they had a weekly ppv show each Wednesday night from Nashville for 9.95 and they had a dark match or 2 before the main show that were not shown on the ppv only the fans at the show got to see it. Another thing alot of wrestling promotions when a wrestler gets seriously hurt like Kim did they nrver air it they dont weant it shown especially when its a female wrestler they think it makes the promotion look bad

    NY32986 Reply:

it was to tape Xplosion because I remember getting it on my TV on Metro Guide TV Channel 61 on Cablevision in NY during the Wrestling block with a bunch of Old school Memphis wrestling from Continental (CWA) and Old school wrestling from Global in Texas (I remember seeing Booker T & Stevie Ray as the Ebony Experience on one episode)

Never has aired on Comcast her seen is not in the first show dunno why

  22. Wow, this literally brought tears to my eyes.
Wish nothing but the best for Kim, with her willpower and will to win, I know she can do it.

i have no recollection of who she was but this is so tragic. i hope she regains her healthier weight and a miracle allows her to safely wrestle again or become a valet. good luck kimmy!! x
