FCW Watch (January 8th, 2012): Aksana vs Cameron Lynn

Heyyyyyyyy! Another Sunday has passed, which means another Diva match occurred in WWE’s developmental territory, and my personal second home, FCW. Tonight, we saw former Queen and Divas Champion, Aksana, square off against the controversial newcomer, Cameron Lynn (Ariane Andrew). If you just want to see a match report, please read on and stop when you get to the thoughts portion because I feel like I’m going to show all of these politicians how you make an inspirational speech about someone… That’s all I’m going to say for now. Please read on!

We head out to the arena as newcomer, Cameron Lynn, steps out from the back to her funky theme song that makes me miss her dance group with Naomi and Byron Saxton. She poses in the ring for a bit, as I take joy in seeing Danielle Moinet carrying the announcer duties. Just then, the espionage theme of Aksana that I love strikes, and out walks the lady in black. Once she enters the ring and the bell sounds, we get underway with some Divas action! They step towards the center, as Aksana shoves Lynn back. Cameron then chases the former Queen to the ropes, as Lynn slaps Aksana’s hand away.

Cameron proceeds to duck a clothesline attempt and hit a nice armdrag, following it up with a hip toss. Aksana scurries to the ropes to regain her composure, as Cameron doesn’t let up off of her. Finally, Aksana manages to use her experience to kick Lynn backwards and give herself a minute to breathe. Both women get to a vertical base, as Aksana takes control with a wrist lock. Lynn steps over towards the ropes and executes a rope assisted front flip, following it up with a punch, before then continuing with a back flip variation into another punch! She breaks the hold and rolls Aksana up for a two count.

Cameron slams Aksana’s head into two turnbuckle posts, but Aksana manages to shove her into the third and drop her with a neckbreaker for a near fall. Aksana then covers Cameron and nails her in the face with some vicious punches. She backs the newcomer into the corner and proceeds to choke her with her leg, before running forward with a SICK boot to the face that sends Cameron flying outside to the ring apron. She drags Lynn back in and covers for a one count. Following it up, she applies a chin lock as the crowd starts to get behind the plucky underdog. Aksana then goes for a near fall, before reverting back to the hold. Cameron tries to fight out, but Aksana strikes her on the back and sends her flying into the ropes. Lynn flies off with a Sunset Flip for a two count, as she then recovers, ducks a clothesline, and catches Aksana into a backslide for another close call!

Aksana with a stiff kick to the stomach, following it up with a bodyslam and elbow drop. A cover gets a two count, as Cameron tries to recover. Aksana stays on the newcomer though, as she Irish whips Cameron into the corner and goes for the boot again…only this time Cameron moves out of the way and Aksana crashes to the mat in pain! Aksana goes for another neckbreaker, but Lynn pushes her off and hits two nice shoulder tackles, following it up with a dropkick! She musters up a two count, as she locks in position for her bulldog finisher, but Aksana shoves her off the ropes and hits the Devo Drop for the victory. Aksana celebrates her win, as Cameron tries to recover from the hard fought match.

Thoughts: I really liked this match. I thought Aksana came off very well and looked strong, which she should considering she’s a veteran in terms of FCW Divas, and her running boot to the corner looked especially painful. I’ll get to Cameron Lynn in a second as I need to prepare myself for a paragraph of inspirational speaking, but overall I just thought this was so much better than I anticipated and I’m interested to see how others take to it.

Now, onto Cameron… I can’t reiterate enough how much I’m behind her. This girl was pretty much given no chance to succeed by anyone, and she has stepped her game up that I couldn’t be happier. While Naomi will forever be my FCW favorite as long as she’s down there, Cameron Lynn is a solid second on that list, and I love watching her wrestle every time she steps into a ring. I’ve beckoned for people to forget what they saw on Tough Enough because it was a TV show set up to entertain, and that it did. I like that she has an actual gear in various colors, that she has poses during her entrance, and that she does a few moves that set her apart from others. She’s capitalizing on the little things that help someone stand out and I think it’s great to see. I don’t know whether it’s because I love seeing someone everyone wrote off at the start actually develop, but I can’t wait to see what she can become in the ring with even more training, considering she’s already giving solid showings with only a few months under her belt. Some people may never give her a chance, and that’s fine, but I hope everyone will see that she is trying and actually progressing.

Cameron has really improved…im surprised obviously in a good way LOL…
aksana was great that kick in the corner looked like it could have knocked Cameron out…
great job by both girls & i look forward to see how far Cameron goes….

Cameron has improved in ring, but she’s at a wrestling school, how could she not? Not many people are giving her a chance because she never really wanted one to begin with. If she did, she’d know more about wrestling and actually research about it. Improvement in the ring is simply not enough to prove that you really want to be there.

love to see Cameron ! she has potential but plaes not use Trish’s Bulldog.

    • http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/WWE_Divas/ art

its not like trish invented the move..i dont mind as long as its performed decent…plus its kinda homage to trish anyway..

    • http://www.youtube.com/RingVixens Teri

      why not?

    • LayTorres

its not like Trish invented the move as @ART said. If this is the way it supposed to be this way, then maybe Alicia shouldnt us Booker’s scissor kick. Think of this as an homage as @ART said….

  • jayjayholler

Good FCW match,I see Cameron likes Melina’s wardrobe.

  • DAFereldan91

Aksana is very solid in the ring… Why isn’t she wrestling on Smackdown yet? :/

  • Faye

Can they refrain from using porn music as entrance themes, please? I could make better tunes on Garage Band. C’mon now!

Anyway, decent showing by Cameron. She’s steadily improving and has a pretty good drop-kick for a beginner.

  • mrdiva518

so is her finisher Trish’s bulldog.?

    • Raekon

      similar

The sunset flip was a good attempt but I think she should take it out of her moveset cause she obviously can’t jump high enough to do it smoothly.

Aksana helped her as we can see by pushing her over her with her arms but it was still a “almost botch” spot.

Same with the overhead pin she attempted.

Cameron has improved a lot in the meantime and even she learns slow, she is getting there.

Happy to see that she works hard.

Aksana was good as she is 99% of the time and its great to see her helping the newer girls down in FCW.

Good match and decent work by both girls. :)

I luv seeing Cameron improve because because its making everyone how doubted and disliked her look like, well, donkeys for lack of a better term! Also, she’s also shown that she can play an entertaining character as well!

  • Mr. Asstastic

I completely agree with you about Cameron. I thought I was one of the only people who likes her. With everything she’s been given to do whether it’s wrestling, talking on the microphone or dancing, she’s pleasantly surprised me each and every time. I love Naomi, I love Cameron, and I love them even more together and I’m so excited that they’re on RAW now. ^.^

    • Matthew

      I second this!! <3

  • Shan

Wow. I love the little things about Aksana’s character, like how she just casually slams down Cameron’s head before doing the elbow drop. Little things like that just show insight into a character without having to say anything.

And I never thought I would say this but Cameron is actually pretty good. I’m always happy when a superstar or Diva proves me wrong about their skills but she’s surprised me at every turn. She is definitely one to watch in my books.

  • WWFoverWWE

Cameron is improving, but with so much competition around her, I can’t see her being anything big in FCW or even WWE.

No offense to Aksana, but she screams jobber in WWE :-/

  • eyecon

Well Naomi is officially gone and on Raw so my two favs are Caylee Turner and Cameron Lynn. Cameron is doing great and she’ll get even better in time. I will say this though I noticed she’s ripped off melina’s boots …lol

    • WWFoverWWE

We don’t know if WWE will recognize naomi and cameron as divas on the roster, so we just have to wait and see what happens during the next few weeks. For all we know, being the backup dancers for Brodus could’ve just been a one time thing.

  • French.One

With everyone being positive about this match allow me to be negative.
This is not the first Aksana’s match in fcw, while the previous seemed ok, I was expecting more from her by now. In this match she hasn’t done something she hadn’t done before and I had a feeling of déjà-vu.She has strength and she barely used it in this match.
Aksana is at the doorstep of the main roster and I think she should have been and could have done better.

As for Cameron, she is a little better than I expected (considering) but not that much (she was sloppy in this match), she is still a rookie and being half time on the main roster won’t help her.

  • ricky_says_hi

She has a way to go but she’s in the right direction. Aksana gets better and better whenever I see her in the ring. She definitely seems like she’s able to work with the greener girls and lead a match which is a good talent to have. She was able to do that with Audrey Marie and now Cameron too

cameron was honestly not taking seriously by over half of you people but ive always thought she was gonna succeed one day. She even said when she was eliminated “im gonna be a WWE diva anyways”…..shee definatly has improved. Aksana should play a huge role in WWE as WWE’s detective diva or something like that. Shes supicious and has somewhat strenth very close to the glamazon…..VERY IMPRESSED

  • moogle

When Cameron first got signed by WWE after TE, I admit I had no hope for her tbh, as horrible as it sounds, it seemed she was only in for the fame and had no interest in the sport itself.

But it seems she’s really dedicated. Considering she’s had so little time training, yet come so far since having NO wrestling experience is great. She’s clearly tried her absolute hardest.
She has good charisma, she’s pretty and her entrances and ring moves have CHARACTER. Something many of the FCW superstars and divas are lacking (a lot)

  • LayTorres

Cameron impressed the heck out of me in this match..she has improved a lot. Give her time, maybe she can become more awesome. Aksana wasnt bad either.
But I still wont forget Steve Austin’s reaction when Cameron said Melina vs Alicia was her favorite match up during TOUGH ENOUGH. Pure comedy gold.

You know all the NXT Season 3 Divas are now really great in ring performers. I don’t think any of us die hard fans would complain if they got a serious push on TV ala the Bella Twins, Eve initially, Maria and Kelly. Kaitlyn, Maxine, Naomi, AJ and Aksana are totally the future of the WWE Divas division and golly, its looking bright. I think that TV time on NXT did wonders for these girls and I kinda hope the new girls, Audrey, Ivelisse, Raquel and Saraya get the same opportunity because it certainly has proven itself with this group.

I Don’t see Aksana staying around for much longer, she’s 31-32 years old which in divas years is like 80, and although she is solid in the ring, she is nothing spectacular and lets be honest her gimmick with teddy got boring a week after the debut’d

  • SweeneyTodd

    Sloppy match. Cameron proves nothing.

  • http://ahlanthony.tumblr.com ahlanthony

A lot of us doubted Ariane but looked at her now, she definitely improved so much. I think she’s better than Raquel in ring now.

  • thejoshifanx

This was awful. If this is the future of the WWE then this sad. WWE should fire the women like this and hire ones that can wrestle matches. Maybe let Aksana stay in a non wrestling role.

  • Blowbangfan

I like both Aksana and Cameron Lynn now. I don’t think it was the best match but it was alright and I’m really impressed with Aksana’s power. I mean she has to be one of the strongest Divas in all of the WWE; behind Beth Phoenix, Kaitlyn, Natalya and Tamina, of course. Cameron Lynn looks pretty athletic and while she’s not very strong or powerful she can be a good acrobatic Diva much like Mickie James was or how AJ Lee is. Definitely like Cameron Adams more than Alicia “Overrated” Fox but I still think she’s got a long way to go before she makes it to the big shows.
