MMA: Vanessa Porto vs Jennifer Maia Announced for Pink Fight 2, Yana Kunitskaya Picks Up 4th Straight Victory & More

Yana “Foxy” Kunitskaya picked up her fourth straight win February 11 at Verdict Fighting Championship 1 in Moscow, Russia. Kunitskaya took on the debuting Ekaterina Saraykina, but quickly made short work of her.  Kunitskaya knocked out Saraykina at just over the one minute mark into the first round.

Yana is currently set to face Anna Melikhova, a Muay-Thai practitioner, in an open-weight bout at Lion’s Fights 1: “The Beginning” on March 3.

A planned bout between unbeaten prospects Julianna Peña and Lauren Taylor has been scrapped from the upcoming Fitetime Entertainment: “Arctic Combat 12” card on February 18th in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Peña recently announced that she had been struck by a drunk driver while out walking on Friday evening and, as such, is out of the bout with Taylor as a result of the injuries sustained. Taylor may remain on the card against a replacement opponent, but this is yet to be announced.

Munah Holland toppled Pearl Gonzalez at Ring of Combat 39 in Atlantic City on Friday. The fight, which streamed live on GoFightLive.tv, was won by majority decision at the end of round three.

Teenager Mizuki Inoue scored what was possibly the biggest victory of her career at Shoot Boxing 2012: “Road To S-Cup, Act.1” in Tokyo, Japan last weekend. The 17 year-old upset current Shoot Boxing Japan Women’s Flyweight Champion Ai Takahashi in a non-title bout on the card.

Inoue won the fight on all a unanimous decision after three rounds.

On the same card, 16 year-old Mio Kubota defeated the much older and more experienced Tsubaki Oshima by unanimous decision after three rounds.

Vanessa Porto and Jennifer Maia will face off for the second time in their careers in the main event of Pink Fight MMA 2 on February 25th, 2012. The bout will be contested for a new Pink Fight Women’s Championship for 132 pounds (60 kilograms).

Porto won their last fight when she was able to armbar Maia for the victory.

On the other hand, Maia impressed at the first Pink Fight event, when she forced Tatiane Aguiar to tap out to an armbar submission at 1:17 during round 2 of their fight.

The event will take place at the Campos dos Goytacazes Exhibition Park in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
