SHIMMER crowned all new champions tonight at the Volume 48 DVD taping.
Sara Del Rey and Courtney Rush picked up the SHIMMER Tag Team Championships by defeating previous champions Ayumi Kurihara and Ayako Hamada as well as Regeneration-X and the Canadian Ninjas in a four-way elimination match.
Elsewhere, Saraya Knight defeated Cheerleader Melissa to become the new SHIMMER Champion after assaulting Melissa backstage earlier in the evening.

I can’t believe Saraya is the new SHIMMER Champion, so proud of her.
I was listening to an interview with her a few months ago and she was getting choked up about how proud she was to be asked to wrestle for SHIMMER so i can only imagine how happy she was winning the title tonight.

Excuse you? The tag champs defended the title 7 times & Melissa doesn’t NEED a long title reign. The Shimmer Title has been around for 5 years & has only had 5 champions. Compare that to the knockouts, calm yourself please.

Ok, I agree with the point of Melissa and his reign, but the tag titles are treated like joke sorry, but since The Canadian Ninjas lose those titles, these have changed literally in each set of tapings and is a little pointles. But meanwhile each person has their own opinionn and I respect your comment.

I agree 3S had a short reign & Daizee/Tomoka likely had a short reign due to Daizee’s exit from wrestling. I disagree that they’re treated like a joke that is WSU. They held the belts for a decent amount of time, but that’s just my opinion. Sorry if I came off rude in my intial comment, that wasn’t my intention :)

I’m happy for Saraya because I don’t doubt that she deserves this. Still, though, I’m a bit upset to see Melissa lose the title so soon. It seems like the other Shimmer champs have had reigns that lasted close to a year, if not more. I would have liked to see Melissa get the chance to be the champ for at least one more round of tapings.

Why are people negative about these title changes? Melissa loosing the title sets up a feud with Saraya and will probably get the title back eventually as payoff for that feud. The change of the tagteam champions also sets up a storyline with SDR/Rush. Isn’t that what we always wanted? Shimmer adding some more storylines instead of doing ‘dream matches’ ?
If Melissa would’ve held the title as long as MsChif, SDR and Madison did, people would also complain, with arguments that every title reign is a copy of the previous one.

Not always but given how they were pretty much building to it on the other tapings and Saraya hurting Melissa before their match it works well enough in this case.

Congrats to our new champs! So happy to see Saraya win. It was truly the biggest surprise of the weekend. Plus her act is CRAZY over. And it sets up the Melissa feud nicely. And I agree that she’s f’in Cheerleader Melissa. Not having a Madison or MsChif style reign doesn’t hurt her.
And I like what I’m reading of DeathRush. Courtney is a promising talent. So, very happy to see her rewarded.

I definetly approve of both title switches, I mean sure we lost great champions… but not we have even better onces in their place. I always wanted to see Saraya on top of the SHIMMER roster eventually, I just didn’t expect it to be so soon… not that I’m complaining mind you. Now here’s hoping we get a kickass fued out of her & Melissa. =-D

Congratulations to my gal Sara Del Rey & Courtney Rush on winning the shimmer tag titles. Was this there first time as a tag team together brcause I cant recall them as a team anywhere else. I dont like them making Saraya Knight Shimmer champion so soon after Melissa put in all those years in Shimmer to finally get it and then hold it a short time. Nothing against Saraya as a heel but she is not the draw Melissa is.

when i asked Sara Del Rey on her facebook page how long had she and Courtney Rush had been partners she said Too Long which suprised me since they just won the Shimmer tag titles. I dont think this team will last long
