Hello everyone and welcome to your Friday afternoon recap of Impact Wrestling! It’s been a wild few weeks as of late, with just last week Velvet Sky gaining top contendership by defeating five former Champions in a six pack challenge! This week, she teams up with the woman she pinned, Mickie James, to take on the possibly just as rocky (I’m not even sure where they stand anymore), Madison Rayne and Gail Kim!~ In other news, Knockout Tag Champions get married (something I’m sure you never thought you’d read and I never thought I’d type) as ODB settles down in holy matrimony. Let us get started!
After our weekly dose of Taz’s money shot as the camera pans up Christy Hemme’s tremendous self, the STILL addicting theme song of Gail Kim hits and out walk both she and Madison Rayne who seem to be on fine terms this week. The two step inside the blue roped ring as Gail poses with her title until the sensational interruption of HARRRDDCCURRRRRR COUNTREEEHHHH! Out skips Mickie James, who looks particularly great tonight, before the music of her partner hits and out steps the pigeon queen, Velvet Sky! Sky makes a title taunt around her waist, before showing her seriousness by keep the pigeons locked in their cages this week.
She poses on the turnbuckle as Taz has a mental breakdown over the lack of pigeons. The bell then sounds as the two Ms of the match start with a lock up. Rayne with a wrist lock, but Mickie cartwheels and tries to fight out. Madison slams her head down into the canvas, as Mickie fights back with a dropkick. Rayne begins to dominate the match as she attacks Mickie. Madison with a knee to the face for a two count, as she tags in Gail. Mickie scores with the flapjack into a kip up, before tagging in Velvet! Gail quickly tags out to Madison, who basically runs right into a roll up attempt for a near fall.
Sky dominates with a few chops, as she kicks Madison in the face and hits a snapmare. Double team move as Mickie James connects with a baseball slide dropkick — only Gail quickly slides in and takes Mickie down as Velvet had the referee distracted inadvertently. Madison tries for a cover, but MJ kicks out. She tags Gail back in, who chokes Mickie on the ropes and then hits a huge clothesline for a two count. Tag back out to Madison, as the two double team Mickie with a running splash. Gail goes for her elastic type move, but Mickie slides out of the way and tags in Velvet!
Sky runs in and takes Gail down by the hair. Clothesline, Elbow, and a Shoulderblock combo follow! She continues with a headscissors takedown into a bulldog, but Madison breaks the pin attempt up. Sky then hits a huge DDT on Rayne, as Gail tries to leave but Mickie slides her back into the ring. Velvet goes for the In Yo Face, but Gail shoves her into the corner and attempts Eat Defeat to no avail. Sky pushes her foot away and proceeds to drill Kim with the In Yo Face for the victory! Hardcore Pigeons celebrate their win, as Gail tries to plan for her title defense this Sunday.

Thoughts: I thought the tag match was pretty dang solid. All four women have worked with one another so much that they seem to mesh insanely well together. I find it interesting that Velvet pinned Gail before Sunday, because most would probably believe that means Gail is retaining this Sunday, but we’ve seen before that there really is no predicting when it comes to TNA. I think I recall seeing Gail pin Velvet in a tag the Impact before she won the title so anything is possible! It’ll be interesting to see what happens on Sunday, but my loyalties lie with… well, you’ll have to wait for the predictions post to find out!

-EY/ODB Wedding: Hands down the best one in recent memory. It moved the storyline, was hilarious & random, got 2 heels over for future matches and was even oddly touching somehow. The crowd loved it and both talents deserved it. Most importantly, it showed Dave Lagana as a good investment and how TNA can gain momentum in spite of Eric Bischoff’s usual shenanigans. It was also brave enough to just “be” a wedding and still advance a plot. YES!
Tag Team Match: I thought this was better than their usual thrown together tag-team fare, but it really could’ve worked the crowd more. With the nature of the Knockouts division, what it’s boiling down to (hey, read their Facebook comments if you need a hint here), they should be taking their cues from an ODB, Mickie or Velvet that really milks the crowd bigtime. Nevertheless the spots weren’t bad and it made you wonder about the Lockdown match.
Lockdown Title Match: Like I said on an Impact photo on Facebook, this is an -extremely- crucial match in Gail’s career in particular. She’s going to have to do the bulk of the heavy lifting, if you catch my drift, to make this match extra memorable. There’s also major competition all over the card to make it forgettable; Gail is in her golden run ATM and should be aiming at a career-defining kind of match. If she makes Velvet look great, sells some cage spots, maps it out to a T, gets some chain stuff in, avoids too much rest and manages a good time-window for the match itself, there’s a good chance. That’s just a lot of variables. I’m pulling for them both because the Knockouts (as I constantly repeat) are a major bright spot for Impact! Wrestling and are a central pillar if they ever have plans for moving up in the industry. Lure the T&A fans w/ a Velvet, the indie worker marks w/ a Gail, the rest w/ comedy and selling like ODB, then TELL STORIES with them. Coherent stories, or as Melanie would say “layered” storylines.
Bischhogan: If you’re not following the Scott Steiner saga on Twitter, you should be. It’s hilarious. Most of us who care/aren’t of the ADD generation know the real deal with TNA anyway, it’s been held hostage by Bischoff using a Hogan “ratings grabber” return as his trojan horse to return to power. It’s just gotten sadder as now he’s blatantly putting his own kid over, giving himself the mic whenever and burying TNA originals who have been there so long even Vince wouldn’t have been burying them anymore. EB, in particular, is so pathetic he uses any face time with Spike TV to promote his latest Scott Baio/midgets/both type show to them rather than discuss TNA more than passingly. It’s so embarassing and Steiner actually has some advice on how to help stop it if you’re watching Impact live . . . and he’s right . . . to be continued . . .

Well its been going on for 3 years and its not going to change until Dixie cater wises up and unwrap herself from their death grip. Scott Steiner isn’t stating anything new we didn’t know but its great to hear it from a Guy who knows hulk and bischoff as the sneaky snakes in the grass they are.

The best Wedding I’ve witness in my life. So much better than WWE Weddings and so original. I was afraid when they proposed to each other that TNA was turning into WWE, but I take that thought back. This was the best 14 minutes of my life! The typical WWE Wedding would always have something happen – where someone interferes, objects and ultimately ruins the “wedding” and “relationship” of the two people or something like a “heart attack” would happen. So predictable. But with this Wedding, sure, there was an objection by Sarita & Rosita – which I might add, they looked sexy as hell in their lingerie and they made this Wedding worth watching a bit more – but it ended happily and not with a tragic ending. ODB and Eric Young have great chemistry together, wrestling or on the mic, they’re both amazing – I would not be surprised if they actually were dating/married in real life. I just hope now we’ll see them defend the KO Tag Titles more often and to different teams of Knockouts, such as Winter and Angelina, Sarita and Rosita, Tara and Tessmacher, and hopefully other random Knockouts such as Traci and someone – oh how I miss Traci nowadays. Anyway, this wedding was surely one of the best televised segments from TNA.

LoL idk if u remember back when Traci was with Robert Roode in 2007 she was constantly hitting on EY and making him fall for her n Gail Kim was always defending him which resulted in catfights and very great matches hahahaha!!

I was a little surprised it was Sarita and Rosita who tried to stop the wedding- Winter and Angelina have interacted more with them (remember the incident with the cup?), though with tension hinted at between the two it wouldn’t have made a lot of sense….
As to the PPV? I’m really not sure what will happen..I’m thinking Gail retains (with possibly a turn by someone) but it’s iffy.

The best “Wedding” in such a segment in Wrestling EVER!
It was totally hilarious, lovely and progressed their storyline beautifully (WWE take notes -.- ).
Loved to see Rosita and Sarita involved cause it might mean that they will get finally a title shot and maybe even win the knockouts tag titles! :)

Why would the fans be plants? Velvet Sky is just very likeable. And TNA Fans well the arena is smaller so its a lot of fun plus you have GREAT matches orbiting the Knockouts matches so when any of the KOs come in the crowd is allready amped up too

Meanwhile a lot of pple were bad mouthing the wedding..when in fact it was awesomely entertaining!! Sara n Rosa were pretty smokin! Glad EY stayed with the ODB and gotta say it was awesome how the crowd loves it!! The YES chants from daniel bryan were on point hahaha AWESOME!!!

i love both segments lol this guy is good and all but doesn’t seem he’s trying to hard like kinda douchy? i like the whole show cause it wasn’t truly a whole wrestling show and not riddle with redundant storylines don’t get me i love a good storyline but when you 2 too many going its hard to keep up its good to actually see wrestling

The wedding was funny and I am a huge ODB and EY fan. Although I wish they would have EY get back to wrestling on his own. Obviously they are setting up Sarita/Rosita vs/ ODB and EY for the tag titles sho hopefully SaRosita will win and get the tag titles back! The tag match was good as well and is it just me or did it look like Mickie has lost a few pounds? Not that it matters or anything, I like her the way she is.
