WWE Tryouts in Europe, Possible New Signing

Erin Angel, Carmel Jacob

Diva Dirt has learned of several names that are linked to WWE tryouts during the company’s current tour in Europe.

Tryouts usually take place on TV taping days prior to the show, which would mean they took place before last night’s Raw taping in London and will continue before today’s SmackDown taping.

Sources linked to WWE tell us that two Pro-Wrestling: EVE stars, Erin Angel and Carmel Jacob, earned tryouts with WWE. Angel took part in a tryout last year, also. She was trained by TNA star Doug Williams, WWE Hall of Famer Jake “The Snake” Roberts and British wrestler Jace the Ace.

Scottish wrestler Jacob is one half of the Glamour Gym in EVE along with Sara-Marie Taylor and competed on the company’s first Internet pay per view in February.

Dani Brooks, Monica Passeri

Additionally, other names we’ve learned of are Monica Passeri, who is of Italian descent, and Dani Brooks.

We’re told that there may be some more girls trying out and are working on confirming names.

Additionally, more than one source is telling us that Rachelle St. Clair — real name Rachel Walker — who tried out for WWE last year, has been offered a deal. Walker is an Irish talent who can usually be seen in American Wrestling Rampage.

    ERIN!!! hope WWE sign her.

    • Marshy

This is her second time trying out,she should be in the running of being sign with WWE.

  • http://Yahoo.com/lilkhris141414@yahoo.com SEXYOFTHESEXIST2011

wwe is definitively tried of model turned wrestlers good job wwe

    • http://Yahoo.com/lilkhris141414@yahoo.com SEXYOFTHESEXIST2011

these aren’t only women that are athletic but are also drop dead gorgeous

    • LadyGoDiva

Its great to hear that WWE is giving indy euro chicks wwe tryouts but I wouldn’t say for sure they’re getting tried of turning models into wrestlers?

  • shameronstar

Wow! This is the first time that I’ve heard of wwe allowing so many female wrestlers to tryout, but at the end of the day whether the women have prior experience or are models trained to wrestle it’s pointless if wwe won’t utilize the women it has effectively!

    • lbthewrestlingnerd

      Exactly

They need to care about the women, stop calling them divas, give them legitimate storylines (most without a superstar), and give them TV time.

      • Marshy

Same can be said for TNA to stop calling them Knockouts.

        • lbthewrestlingnerd

          Exactly! :)

        • Marshy

When Madusa,Wendi Richter,Bull Nakano,Rockin Robin,Leilani Kai,Malia Hosaka, the late Fabulous Moolah, the late Luna Vachon, the late Sensational Sherri Martel, and other yesteryear women wrestlers who are still living or who have perish to eternity that they were not called Divas nor Knockouts that they just plain called wrestlers just like The Hulkster and rest of the male croonies. There are some women who are wrestlers that looks too tough to be even called a Diva or a Knockout.

        • lbthewrestlingnerd

I don’t think that the women should be called wrestlers until they get rid of the non-wrestlers and have a legitimate division though

        • lbthewrestlingnerd

I’d like for WWE to bring in some of the women from this era of joshi, that would be so cool!

      • Rhawk

They seem to be doing this with Kharma right now since she’s not listed as a ‘Diva’ on the WWE website. Plus on her leave speech last year she said she wanted to be a “WWE SUPERSTAR”. This really needs to be done more often.

        • Marshy

WWE will have a huge rough time trying to convince the wrestling world that Alpha Female is a Diva, Does she looks like a cross between Pink and the late Wendy O. Williams?

  • alexl467

As in the case of Erin Angel I wonder if Alpha Female also received a 2nd WWE tryout.

    alexl467

  • HollyRobinsonWWE

Yeah there’s definitely been a mandate passed down from the top. Over the last year they’ve quite noticeably shifted their hiring practices when it comes to women. So many wrestlers being brought in. It really feels like they’re planning to revitalize the division at some point, whenever this next class is ready to graduate from FCW.

  • MrJCena

Hopefully Carmel Jacobs gets an offer i think she is brill and had a really good company

Carmel Jacobs is good. I just seen a Dani Brooks match! She is awful! Really bad..

  • LadyGoDiva

I’ll be great o have a European Diva in the divas divison, makes me hope that the WWE will branch out more.

      Erm, Layla? Paige?

Layla is arabic isn’t she !???

it’s great to see so many women apparently getting try outs but it does make me worry about any upcoming roster cuts!

anyway, good luck to all those involved!

  • http://Yahoo.com/lilkhris141414@yahoo.com SEXYOFTHESEXIST2011

dani brookes kinda looks like that other girl who was signed by wwe but left vicky skeeles

  • Marshy

Recently that WWE are giving women from independent scene from Europe and some from United States that when it comes to hiring that if you look at the numbers that WWE are in the lead by 50% while TNA are not even the board.Since Christina Von Eerie,I mean Who can we name that TNA has sign to their roster who is a Woman or Women who have never been in WWE? Looks like WWE will be having another developmental terrority that is probably why we are seeing WWE are going after Women who can actually wrestle.Didn’t Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling started the practice or even of hiring models to become wrestlers first?

    • cutymania

I hear ya. Most of the KO’s and TNA’s roster are former WWE workers, or were linked in some way to WWE (through developmental or w/e). I can’t watch an episode of Impact without thinking omg where the hell has Bubba Ray Dudley been?? lol

      • Marshy

It is like continuing to heat up someone else leftovers over and over again, cause you don’t want anything that is fresh and new that can bring something better to the table that can be exciting and new.Well basically it is like TNA are becoming the second coming of WCW.

  • lbthewrestlingnerd

I’m a fan of Carmel Jacob so I hope she gets signed

I’m glad to see Rachelle St Clair get signed (if it is true). Even though she’s not a super talented wrestler, I’d rather see her than a non wrestler.

I’d like to see these women from Europe get tryouts
    -Blue Nikita
    -Jenny Sjodin
    -Jetta
    -Nikki Storm

I also hope WWE starts to look at the top women from the indys and joshi :)

    • lbthewrestlingnerd

I’ve never heard of Monica Passeri or Dani Brooks. I don’t think they’re wrestlers :(

      • No Holds Barred

what?? I’m shocked you’ve never heard of them, I mean they’re indy wrestlers haha.

Monica wrestles for SSPW and WFX, and Dani competes in UKW Mayhem.

Dani Brooks vs Dina White is on YouTube, but it’s from 2011. No matches from Monica are though :/

        • lbthewrestlingnerd

Oh well I only know the more well known women in Europe, mostly the women that are in companies with updated websites, are on YouTube, have wrestled in the US, wrestled in Pro Wrestling EVE.
I don’t know every wrestler either lol.

        • No Holds Barred

well a guy writes a blog about SSPW matches where he basically outlines the whole match.. and I guess you could use your imagination from there lol

      • mikie91

Dani Brookes is. Youtube her. Monica Passeri is also a wrestler.

    • lbthewrestlingnerd

I saw Dani Brooks vs Dina White, it was so horrible I couldn’t get past a few minutes lol. Dina White is one of the worst wrestlers I’ve seen, and Dani Brooks is pretty horrible. They also screeched like the divas do >_<. The only redeeming thing about the match was Jemma Palmer being the guest referee.

      • No Holds Barred

well that’s what FCW is for, but if she was really bad in the tryout I doubt they’d sign her

        • lbthewrestlingnerd

FCW has never turned a horrible wrestler into a talented one as far as I can remember

    • Jhonmarco

Joshi girls would be unable to cut proper english promos in quick time & yeah they’d make 80% of the roster look like crap.

      • mikie91

That’s what FCW is for though. AJ wasn’t very good when she started but look at her now. Girls who tend to have wrestling pasts normally improve tremendously while in FCW even if they start out sloppy. Her being sloppy now means nothing IMO.

      • lbthewrestlingnerd

Well I’m sure some joshi could pick up English- there are plenty of people who don’t have English as a first language and can speak it pretty fluently eventually. Some time in US indys and FCW could make the joshi adapt to the WWE / American style.

        • Jhonmarco

I honestly doubt WWE would waste time on that.

        • lbthewrestlingnerd

If the joshi pick up English on their own I don’t see the issue. They hired Claudio Castangoli who’s first language is German but he picked up English on his own.

Plus if WWE can hire Yoshi Tatsu, Sakamoto, and Jiro they can hire joshi lol. Even if the joshi didn’t spend time in the US indys they can adapt to the style.

        • Jhonmarco

Look at Yoshi’s career, do we honestly want a joshi treated like that? Not trying to say that they shouldn’t go there if they truly want to, but it wouldn’t be very successful for them.

        • Marshy

I wish that they would give Gemma Palmer another try, she was having Visa Issues and she has never reported to FCW to see what she can do inside the square circle.

  • eyecon

Eh not my cup of tea, haven’t seen them wrestle but if were going off looks I’ll pass

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/DeeMvProductions TaraFan19

I wish Faye Palmer would get a tryout, cause ever since she was in big brother, I have loved her :) Probably won’t happen but it’s just wishful thinking

  • Jake

I hope they do sign these women. The FCW diva roster is actually pretty small and they need more experienced girls to work with.

    • lbthewrestlingnerd

Some of those girls aren’t very experienced, but compared to the non wrestlers they obviously are. I think that out of them Carmel is the only TV quality one too.

I think WWE should focus on hiring the super talented indy, lucha, and joshi women instead of the non wrestlers and the barely experienced wrestlers.

      • Jake

WWE should focus on better booking for the women. The roster could have tons of talented women wrestlers yet still have a shit division.

Didn’t you say you didn’t want them to go to WWE not to long ago? …

        • lbthewrestlingnerd

Of course I want WWE to focus on better booking first, then hire talented women

I only want WWE to sign talented women if they have a legitimate division

      • No Holds Barred

but the reason WWE focus on the not as well known wrestlers is because Vince prefers to build his own talent, believe it or not.

I mean the likes of Molly Holly, Lita, Jazz, Ivory, Jackie etc. were of course from ECW or WCW and Ivory came from GLOW. But nowadays most ladies will have competed in very minor indy feds or in SHIMMER – Beth, Katie, Serena, Britani. Other girls would be in independent promotions that wouldn’t have any matches on YouTube or anything so people wouldn’t be able to see if the girls are good or not.

WWE prefer to push talent that they created, not that somebody else did (with the exception of Amazing Kong)

        • lbthewrestlingnerd

Building your own talent is fine if they can wrestle well, but most of the time they can’t wrestle so it’s necessarily to find talent elsewhere. There’s also no reason not to hire somebody just because they’re well known- if they’re talented it shouldn’t matter.

CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Sin Cara say hello, and in the future Antonio Cesaro, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins (I know you’re most likely talking about the women but still)

        • Jhonmarco

ROFL @ Sin Cara. Guy has been a botching machine since his debut.

        • lbthewrestlingnerd

Sin Cara is a botching machine when he is in WWE because
          1. He didn’t go to FCW to adapt to the WWE style
          2. Most of the WWE wrestlers can’t keep up with him

It doesn’t change the fact that they hired him when he was the top star in Mexico at the time of his signing

        • Jhonmarco

Doesn’t change the fact that 75% of the people that think of Sin Cara think of botches, whether WWE’s fault or not he’s the one looking bad. Putting him with Daniel Bryan & C.M Punk is a disrespectful to them IMO who put on excellent matches. No matter whose fault, Sin Cara in WWE isn’t on Punk or Bryan’s level.

          • DarkAngel760

Please…Sim Cara is a “wrestler” those are hust wana-bees, like or not…

  • lbthewrestlingnerd

None of those women are attractive to me honestly lol

    • DjayDay

What the hell does that have to do with new talent being signed. If your all for “legitimate female talent” that you keep going on about, then what does it matter what they look, nor should you care.

      Hypocrite. Seriously?

  • Marshy

Now if WWE would direct their attention to give some of the women from Mexico, and Japan on their roster that we could be seeing a complete turn around from WWE.

    • Marshy

      *get*

  • OfficialChester

Some of you guys are ridiculous. First, some complain about WWE hiring models. Now that they’re directing themselves toward indy wrestlers in Europe, someone HAS to bash them. I believe that all these women are beautiful and obviously have some sort of experience in the ring. Me personally, I’d love to see all four women get signed to spice up the division. The WWE is about being a universe. Why not sign divas outside the country as well.

As for Rachelle St. Clair, congrats if it is indeed correct. If not, lets get her signed. :)

    • lbthewrestlingnerd

You should try watching some of those women in the ring. Dani Brooks is horrible. I don’t want WWE to sign someone just because they have wrestling experience, I want them to sign someone with talent. LOL.

      • lbthewrestlingnerd

If they want to sign women outside of the country I could list a bunch of women more talented than the women there besides Carmel Jacob

        • SherriShepherdWWE

i wouldnt call Dani Brooks horrible, out of the matches that i watched on youtube, Dani showed alot of character skills and sure she isnt a Beth or nattie, but she is alot better than Kelly, Velvet, Rosa, so i think she would be a good sign, any of these girls would be a good sign i think

        • lbthewrestlingnerd

Saying somebody is better than Kelly, Velvet, or Rosa doesn’t mean anything. Those are three horrible “wrestlers”. She’s on their level in my opinion. If WWE is going to hire women from Europe, out of those women they need to hire Carmel Jacob because she’s pretty decent and I like her character from what I’ve seen.

    • cutymania

      agreed.

  • SherriShepherdWWE

OMG, i love it, all these indy girls getting try outs, and with Rachelle St Claire getting signed, awesome

and this is Erin ANgel second try out in like 5 months, so it looks really good for her, since they wanted to see her again

Now, i never heard tell of Monica but she is very very hot, i definately she her getting signed, and Carmel Jacobs is a great wrestler and would make a great addition,

i wonder who will getting signed, and also i wonder who else got try outs, i find it so interesting so many girls got try outs, like last there was 3 and this time we know of 3 and plus more are begin reported, one word AWESOME

    • mikie91

Yeah it makes me really happy too. It goes to show that there are girls that WWE considers worthy of being signed (even if they don’t get signed).

  • SherriShepherdWWE

wow,i never even read about the Dani Brooks try out lol, she is hot too, wow, i am in shock with all these try outs, even though only, maybe 1 will get signed which kinda sucks, because we know WWE isnt gonna sign 5 or 6 new girls from this weekend, however, by the looks they should release some of there FCW girls and hire all six of these

  • WWFoverWWE

Another signing? Seriously, they are signing too many girls and it’s going to end up a clusterf*ck at fcw.

    • Rhawk

Actually its not so much of a cluster f*ck right now since only 6/7 of them end up on the show. Yes theres 9 there now, but Naomi & Cameron are dancing on Raw, Maxine appears occassionally, Summer is the GM, Caylee is the ring announcer, so that leaves Audrey, Sofia, Paige and Raquel, with an occassional Kaitlyn appearance.
Maybe one or two more couldn’t hurt, especially if they are named Carmel Jacobs. ;-)

      • mikie91

The more girls the better. As Melanie previously put it, the best ones will shine through no matter how many girls there are.

        • Rhawk

There how is Kelly Kelly doing so well then? =-S OH! Had to be said. =-P

        • mikie91

Kelly didn’t start out a wrestler. I’m talking about women who came from the Indies. They are the ones who normally get better.

  • Rhawk

Carmel Jacobs having a WWE Tryout and MAYBE in ties with having a contract. Brb people, I’m gonna have a fangasm to myself. =-P

  • No Holds Barred

They are calling up some Divas to the main roster this Summer, as well as future endeavoured Divas so there will be room for maybe 2 of these girls – I’d choose Carmel Jacob and Monica (because my girlfriend is called Monica haha)

    • WWFoverWWE

      How do you know?

      • No Holds Barred

well I dunno if they are calling up Divas, but reports are saying that they want to bring up quite a few FCW wrestlers over the next few months, and some Divas are bound to get fired unfortunately :(

  • http://Yahoo.com/lilkhris141414@yahoo.com SEXYOFTHESEXIST2011

if this is Erin Angel’s 2nd WWE tryout i think like britani knight will get signed and congrats to rachelle st claire i have a feeling that audrey marie , raquel diaz , caylee turner , & sofia cortez will get called up to the main roster’s soon and with naomi already added to the main divas roster & cameron soon to be added who ever get’s a contract will get their spot’s & tenielle debut with these girl’s

    • GailKim95

if Raquel gets called up she shouldn’t be wrestling. She is just bad and I have a pretty high tolerance for wrestling ability so it takes alot for me to say someone is bad

      • DjayDay

Yep, just keep hating on the girl who has less then a year in the business and is already leaps and bounds in the ring over Kelly Kelly and Rosa. Raquel has literally less the 11 months of ring time and has great charisma and ring sense, the timing and techinique will come with time, that’s stuff you can learn. You can’t learn to be a natural, but Raquel has it, give the damn girl some time, she’s 21 for god sakes.

        • ricky_says_hi

leaps and bounds better than Kelly? Raquel stumbles around the ring in every match she’s in but as you said she’s less than a year training. Kelly may not be 5 star but she knows what she’s doing in the ring and can work a good match, sans her fear of the ring ropes of course. but yeah leaps and bounds better than Rosa but that isn’t too hard

  • Marshy

Whatever happen with the tryout with Buggy Nova?

  • Nostalgia

Honestly, the WWE divas division is in a transitional phase. The divas have really only been shitty for under a year. Change doesn’t come over night. I think With the Bellas leaving the competition will be a lot more competitive. Sure there will be Kelly. But every division needs its under dog. There’s Kharma, Layla, Beth, Tamina, AJ, Naomi, Eve, and a few others. The divas division is well rounded. Now we just need creative to kick it into gear

    • mikie91

So true. The roster is not terrible but the booking/writing is. I do think the more credible girls, the more likely we are to get longer matches and more storylines.
