In the latest episode of WWE’s YouTube show, WWE Inbox, several Superstars weighed in on who they think is the greatest Diva of all time.
The stars included Brodus Clay, Alex Riley, David Otunga, and WWE Diva Natalya (I think you can guess who she picked)!

Trish, Trish, Trish :) haha, surprised with Wendi though
i think for the 80s, it was Fabulous Moolah, the 90s was Sable and then the golden age was def Trish, them three would be the greatest diva of all time
Firewalker
April 19, 2012 at 4:33 am
The 80s was Miss Elizabeth, hands down. She was REALLY over with the crowd. Moolah’s glory years were well behind her by the 80s and fans really weren’t all that interested in her.

to me Chyna didnt really do anything for the women s division, she mostly was apart of the mens division and all that
kristalmelinafan
April 19, 2012 at 11:21 pm
Normally Sherri, your opinions will be something i agree with, but this one i do not. Chyna paved the way for Beth, Natalya, Victoria, Kharma and any other diva that is not like Kelly. She even pave the way for Trish. Trish did not look like she do now and even Trish said it herself. For you to say Chyna didn’t do anything is a mistake on your part. Trish always get the paises, which Lita, Chyna, Sunny, and Sable put trish on the map. With Sunny sex appeal, Sable revolutionize the sex image, Chyna bringing muscles and power, while Lita went to the extreme made Trish because she now imbodies all of those attributes.

and yet trish trumped them all in the ring
javiousmckenzie
April 19, 2012 at 2:53 am
And i dont see how Trish trumped them in the ring yes she was a great PERFORMER but she was no better than Lita
Raekon
April 19, 2012 at 4:16 pm
@Ricky_says
Trish was horrible in the ring on her first title run and got better later.
Even she improved, she never surpassed Victoria, Jazz, Jaqueline, Ivory, Lita or Chyna skillwise.
She was rather like the current cena, goes in the match, takes bumps, then makes a comeback with the 5-6 same moves everytime and then either picks the win after the signature and finisher move or gets pinned.
Check all her matches and you’ll see what I mean.
She was decent to good in the ring but nothing special.
The girls I mentioned put up better matches up and had more skill in the ring too.
Chyna and Lita were also more over with the crowd then she ever was.
Check as example the tag team match between her and lita against jerico and christian or any others.
When she comes in the crowd cheers, when Lita comes in the crowd goes crazy and is much louder.

Yeah, and in 2006 they was turning on Trish and that is one secret she will never say that, that was one of the reasons she retire early or she wouldn’t keep making returns. She’s overrated.

And Chyna did a lot for the women if not for her we would not have had divas like Beth Victoria Jazz muscular intimidating women she opened doors for a new type of female if not for her a lot of intergender action we saw with Lita and other superstars would not have happened if Chyna would not have gotten it over Chyna did a lot for the women and divas like Beht Victoria Tamina and Trish herself has stated it
FashionQueen86
April 19, 2012 at 3:51 am
Victoria would be my best diva becuase she made more sacrifices in the ring then Trish did. Think of all the back flips off the turnbuckle they made her do and it was rare that she ever hit anyone with it becuase her opponent would always roll away. That’s got to be very frustrating. And even when they made her act like a stupid character, she did it so well with perfecting acting. She made me laugh a lot. She put her body on the line a lot with extreme moves. The same with Lita, she was a high flyer, she got beat up more by male wrestlers. These two divas really gave us a show. Now if Trish worked really hard and gave us an awesome character in the ring, then yes, she deserves the big pop from fans. But sometimes this gets really old. Victoria, Molly, Lita, Jazz, they all need to be embraced. But that’s never ever gonna happen.
StratusXtreme
April 19, 2012 at 7:17 am
Okay.. What sacrifices are you referring too exactly? Move sets?.. Yes the moonsaults ‘THEY MADE’ Victoria do were amazing.. I was more impressed on how Trish sold the actual moves. She has taken some sick bumps ever sold by a Diva. We need to just except that Trish may not have been better at wrestling that some of the other Divas like Molly, Jazz, Ivory etc BUT she made history as the greatest Diva of all time. Period.

Don’t disparage Victoria. She was a fantastic wrestler. A lot of the women that get praise in the division would not be where they are today if not for the great supporting cast of female wrestlers who worked with them. Victoria was one of the best in the ring. Lance Storm even wrote an open letter about how good and under-appreciated she was when she retired from WWE. You are talking about a woman that went from fitness modeling to being able to train in submission style, high flying, and great technical wrestling. Just because she wasn’t as over as others does not mean you should spit on her contributions by disparaging her commitment to wrestling.

*rolls eyes* How is it silly? Is it becuase my opinions don’t exactly match yours? I’m not anti-Trish. I enjoyed her performances back in that era a lot. I just happen to be a wwe fan that does not kiss her butt in an over obsessive way like some people do. And I love how when I don’t praise a particular wrestler, there seems to be a big attack. All I did was jot down the contrary in in the most respectful way possible. So with that being said, I will stand by what I feel to be true and that’s Victoria being one of the best divas WWE had. Chill.

100% agree with you!! For some reason people can’t seem to accept that Trish was and will forever be the greatest WWE Diva of all time. And as much as I love Lita, there is really no comparison. Chyna.. No comparison.. Sable.. No comparison! These Divas were not the whole package and Trish was. Im super pleased with all the success Trish has had and I keep thinking back to when the golden age was at its peak.. Because TRISH made me interested in women’s wrestling and that has continued until now. I will be honest though, I have been least interested since Trish left.. Maryse made me re-interested as I felt she had potential, but she is now gone and I don’t feel that fire anymore for the division. I love watching the Divas but we need the next big star back.. Kharma.

Funny you calling people that are stating facts or are against on what you like haters and no, she was good but never the best in the ring.
She got shoved in front of everyones face even at the times other divas were more over with the crowd then her only because of her backstage relationships.
I have nothing against her and she was good but definately not the best nor more over with the crowd than lita, sable, chyna and other women before her time either.

tbh i never really loved trish..the only thing i liked was her heel backstage moments. as for the best diva imo would have to be Michelle McCool. For Me Michelle was the perfect example of a model turned into a wrestler. She didn’t even Win the diva Search and She Even outshined most of the golden era divas imo.

Jumping Bomb Angels, Velvet MCintyre, Wendi Richter, the Glamour Girls, Sensetional Sherri, Bertha Faye, Luna were all awesome wrestlers and put up great matches in the ring.

April 19, 2012 at 12:27 am
Even after Trish left the company, her presence still resonates within the Women’s Division. She’s the perfect example of someone who works hard, earns their spot, and gets recognized for their accomplishments. As much as I love the Divas of this era, there isn’t a Diva right now who has that appeal that Trish has with the fans. If WWE took the time to develop their women both in and out of the ring, then the division could actually mean something to the wrestling audience; and not just the Diva fans.
It’s funny; when Trish comes out to the ring, even after being retired, she still gets the biggest pop of all the current crop of Divas. That just goes to show, she’s still relevant with today’s audience.
I can keep going but im gonna stop here before I get accused of being a Trish mark haha.
RR45
April 19, 2012 at 12:34 am
I feel like a lot of the divas have had sparks and little moments where they really connected with the audience but then something always happens. Whether it be uncreative or an injury.
Pat
April 19, 2012 at 12:57 am
I honestly believe that. Each Diva has, at some point, had their breakthrough moment with the wrestling fans; but I think Trish was consistent when getting to the audience. She developed right when WWE cared about their women, and so that got the fans behind her, and from then on she took the ball and ran with it. She Delivered what the fans wanted everytime regardless if she was actively in the title hunt, involved in a storyline, or even put on the sidelines.
Mickie James and Candice Michelle, in my opinion, had potential to get that kind of Trish push. Gail Kim on her first run in the WWE had so much potential, but it was obvious they weren’t confident in her abilities to hook the crowd.
Nothing against this current group of Divas. I always watch WWE for the Divas, but it just seems the higher ups plateau’d the ‘wrestling’ divas, and are putting faith in the models who they’re hoping to get that Stratus appeal.
Raekon
April 19, 2012 at 4:50 pm
@Pat
The thing is that no matter what appeal they are going for, they are doing a horrible job with it.
If they would take the same approach with the mens division, they could had closed down the company as a whole.
No Diva or Superstar can develop their character through bad writing, time and moveset restrictions and that’s what the main problem the divas division has.
The girls all can work but they get nothing to work with.
The few ones like AJ and Eve got a little storyline now but in Eves case worked as long as she did wrong to Zack putting him more over than he already was to get heat.
However, after that she randomly appears with laurenaitis now doing nothing so people stopped care again.
That’s also the main problem once again.
They give Divas something from time to time but never let them develop it further cause if a superstar is involved, they will let him gain through it and put the diva aside again after.
If a Diva would get more over, she would need more time after all you know?
That’s what they don’t wanna give away to the divas so they rather filling the gaps with superstar promos 24/7 and advertisement in between.
As about Trish, she was good in overall but not the best in my opinion.

Trish was far from the best wrestler to ever step in the WWE ring. But she has the perfect mix of everything that is needed for someone to succeed in the business. Same can be said for Lita only (IMO) Trish is lot more solid in the mic then Lita ever was. They both have the drive, a knowledge of ring psychology, good wrestling and mic skills, charismatic and very good looking. Most of the names you mentioned are missing one or the other.

Well even if it’s just the woman that made the most impact on WWE=
Alundra Blayze, Wendi Richter, Fabulous Moolah, did more for the business than any of the “divas”. All the divas did was put on average at best matches, objectify themselves, and are the reason that WWE hires models etc now and tries to turn them into wrestlers (which never works)- they HARMED the business.

Your irrational statements reflect your doltish nature entirely. Let me, this time, run off on a tangent; I hope you don’t mind considering that’s your territory and all. How much schooling have you completed? How many friends do you have? And where do you come from? Answers to these questions will give me great insight into your kind.
Let’s get back to the subject at hand. Your personal vendetta against Divas is absolutely valueless. Without Trish Stratus and Lita, there never would have been a Golden Era. Does what I’ve previously written register? Before clicking reply, sit down and let it sink in — take as long as you need (days, months, maybe even years). Let me state a fact, one that I’ve not made up: The majority of women who’ve made monumental impacts in WWE have been women with very limited wrestling ability. Let’s list them in chronological order: Sunny, Sable, Chyna, Lita, and Trish Stratus. These women shaped the business and made the WWE millions upon millions of dollars. They did no harm; these women were the sole reason the Divas were showcased prominently during their tenures.
You’re entitled to your opinions, but you are not entitled to your own facts. I don’t understand your level of pathetic. Forgive me. Please answer my tangent questions, though! (And if you want to stamp your opinion as fact, start including some examples. Please try and join the debate team and enroll in a speech class.)

I’m from the US and I don’t have any friends left since I came out as lesbian [coming out as atheist a litle bit but mostly my sexual orientation] (I’m also an adult, I’m not a child)
LOL that was no golden era. If you want golden era for women, look at when the joshi came in, that was good wrestling. I don’t give a god damn how much attention the other women got, most of them couldn’t put on good matches so they’re insignificant. They
might have made monumental impact, but in a negative way. Because of women like that, WWE thinks they can turn models/fitness women/etc into wrestlers and they can’t. Because of women like that, women in WWE were/are objectified lots. Attention does not equal significance. Talent equals significance. VERY few women from that era could wrestle and most are VERY overrated.
Taylor
April 19, 2012 at 8:30 am
Personally, I think people dislike you because you’re completely delusional and intensely unbearable. To keep things short, no one likes putting up with you. I too live in the US and know plenty of gays and atheists who have plenty of friends. Therefore, don’t use that as an excuse.
Either you’re incredibly dumb or you’re just looking for attention, which you obviously are deprived of because no one likes you. Do you live in a cave? Apparently you had no Internet access during the Golden Era, otherwise you’d see for yourself how invested the online wrestling communities were with the Divas. Again you’re running in circles — not surprised. This is the greatest Diva debate, which means wrestling ability is not, by any means, the greatest contributing factor. Get that through your thick skull. I told you to sit back and let it sink in. Try listening to my advice.
Negative impact? That is your opinion. If you can’t understand this, you’re tenfold the idiot I thought you previously were. Please stop embarrassing yourself. Save what’s left of your reputation.
I want to leave some advice for you: Drop your personal vendetta against the Divas because you have absolutely no power to change the direction the WWE chooses to travel; instead, focus your energies on trying to make friends. Your life will become much healthier and happier. :)

Sorry LB, but I have to agree with Taylor. What you think are “facts” is really just your opinion which you think irrationally outshines everyone elses. We are talking about the “Greatest Diva of all Time”. If it was “Greatest Women’s Wrestler”, then I would definitely not choose Sunny. I also fail to see how “Divas” harmed the business. Compare the pops your favourites got compared to Sunny or Trish. If by “harm” you mean “popularized”, then yes, the Divas did harm the business.

“She WILL never be the best WRESTLER in the women’s division, so shut that shit down now lol for real”
Really?
Well somebody needs to retract their claws and re-read my last post. I said FAR from..
Anyway personal opinions about the best or the greatest whatever is always going to be subjective. You can say Bull is the best and another would respectfully disagree with you and claim Akira Hokuto is and another would say Mariko Yoshida is the greatest and another would say Joy Giovanni is the queen. We might not agree with it but it’s their opinion.

LB, if someone as poetically articulate as Taylor cannot reach the inner recesses of your moth-infested ears, I surely have no hope. Newsflash, my friend: wrestling became a dirty word in this business long before models were being hired and passed off as in-ring performers. Every industry changes, some adapt and some, like yourself, don’t. That’s why this thread isn’t asking you the question you persistently and pointlessly keep answering.

I think Lita is better than Trish, but that’s just my opinion.

I’m with you on that!!! I love me some Trish Stratus, and she may have been the best DIVA in the WWE, but Lita was the best WRESTLER in the womens division period. That is just my opinion though.

I agree, but I guess we’re all going to hell for believing that and not the lovely Trish it seems

IMO just like who you like and don’t argue with others over it. I don’t understand why people attack other posters for having different favorites. If someone or WWE thinks Kelly is GOAT or Eve, or Trish, or Lita, who cares? What does that have to do with your enjoyment as a fan?

@Norisclouds I don’t get all the fuss either. Earlier, all I did was state who I felt was fit for the top diva and a couple of people tried to degrade my reasoning for it, which is so typical. Had this had been a forum totally dedicated to Trish Stratus, then yes, I’d sort of understand some people’s reactions towards those who happen to disagree that Trish is not to be glorified all the dain time. But this is a forum of women’s wrestling where we should be able to give our opinions without being attacked. And if someone disagrees, I don’t see how it’s so hard to politely state why.

Perhaps the reason Trish is frequently considered the greatest Diva is because she has a significantly larger history than most of her peers and contemporaries. She was ubiquitous in the division from start to finish, carried a multitude of storylines, had incredible growth both in and outside the ring and, most importantly, maintained great professional relationships. When you think of Diva, you think of most things associated with Trish. She had a varied career unlike most women to come and go with WWE.
She’s still no Joy Giovanni, though. :P

I’m going to have to say either Lita, Victoria, or Sable.
To be honest Sable was THE diva.. I mean.. I know the term wasn’t really around then but she is what WWE went after, after she left. A woman who was beautiful, got a reaction, could perform in the ring (some what), and she had great mic work/charisma.
I’m obviously not a Trish mark so.. sorry folks not going to say her, she was a great diva, but not the best. I mean.. she started to get boo’d because people were tired of her. She’s like the female John Cena. To all the people who hate him for those things, usually end up being the ones who like Trish and it doesn’t make any sense. lol

actually the term diva was born because of sable and ivory, good to see that im not the only one who thinks that victoria deserves more credit and i also agree on everything you said abou trish though i like her

Some differences between Cena & Trish.
Trish actually had a diverse moveset, she wasn’t amazing wrestling-wise, but good.
Trish’s character was always changing from a slutty heel to a plucky underdog to a cocky deserving champion, while Cena is “rise above hate” for what 6 years.
Boo’ed? Once because she was champion for over a year at that point & people LOVED Mickie & wanted a change.
She wasn’t always at the top of the division like Cena constantly is. From 2000 to most of 2001 she was hardly something special. For most of 2003, she was out of the title picture & in early 2004 was more in her Chirstian/Jericho storyline. Not to mention her stuff with Carlito in the summer of ’06. Comparing to Cena is crazy.

I wrote a long spiel depicting why Sable Is the foundation of Diva and lost it, so I will conclude and simply say that Sable is my pick for greatest Diva of all time.

@Jhonmarco You forgot that Trish Stratus is a far better bumper and seller than John Cena ever will be!

Whoops, good point! Let’s not forget Trish could put others over like Mickie, Melina, etc.

I agree with the following:
- she wasn’t better in the ring than others
- she wasn’t the best of her or earlier times
- she was good and had somewhat a few more moves than cena, diversity when it comes to characters, even though one can compare her to him and orton with their “momentums”.
I disagree with the following:
- Sable being the best diva ever.
Sable was good on the mic and had charisma .BUT had no clue nor interest, nor passion when it comes to wrestling and had already signed from the beginning under the term that she won’t take ANY bumps.
So they had ivory, luna, jaqueline, her husband back then and other real wrestlers jobbing to her 24/7 putting her over with everyone.
