Holla, holla, holla to you all, and feast your eyes on another bountiful Superstars Redux. The Raw Divas division seems to have moved here as of late, and to be honest, I’m not entirely against it. This week, former friends turned foes, Kelly Kelly and Eve Torres square off in what was formerly a rumored match-up at WrestleMania until Beth Phoenix and Maria Menounos joined the mix. Can this top the bout we saw at Sun Life Stadium? I’m sure it will be filled with many a “Hoeski” chant, so let us see what else goes down!
The delightful peppy theme song of Kelly Kelly strikes, and out she walks in a cool fruit punch colored gear. The crowd gives the blond bombshell a welcome reaction, but not so much to Eve as… ahem, “SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Looks Good To Me” graces our ears. Eve steps out and plays up to the crowd like the hellacious heartbreaker she is. I try to pay attention to Eve’s entrance, but it’s too hard as I can’t stop singing along to her tremendous theme song. The bell sounds as the first “Hoeski” chant of the night erupts. The two lock up with Eve backing Kelly into the corner and smacking her like she just trashed Eve’s family.
This does not set well with K2, sparking her to leap forward with the Thesz Press of her life! She unloads of Eve, until Torres manages to kick her in the stomach and control the match. Eve sends Kelly into the corner, but gets a pair of boots to the chest! Kelly transitions into a hangman’s leg hook neckbreaker, before tripping Torres up by the feet and then banging her skull into the hardest part of the ring (which does make me cringe a little). She leaves Eve in position and then runs into the squared circle and hits a baseball slide! Torres falls to the outside and Kelly makes sure to not let up.
K2 smacks Eve across the ring apron and ascends to the top rope. Kelly leaps off with a nice crossbody, but only gets a two count. Eventually, Kelly goes for a ten punch, however, Eve slams her off and gets a two count. Torres moves into a headlock, complete with some taunting to the british fans. They start to clap for Kelly, but Eve is relentless on her attack. She climbs to the second rope and proceeds to choke K2 out until the count of five. Eve moves back into her submissions once again, until Kelly can fight out with a nice arm drag! Kelly scores with an equally nice hurricanrana for a two count, before taking the advantage with a few punches. She goes for a third, but Eve drills her face first with a kickass faceplant for a near fall. Torres locks in the choke hold again, as the crowd continues to target Eve’s past.
Torres poses for the fans and goes for her running senton. Sadly for her though, Kelly gets the knees up and makes my own gluteus maximus hurt after seeing that sick counter. Kelly does not give Eve a second to breathe, planting her with a running bulldog and then a clothesline! She hits the whirlybird headscissors and follows it up with a handspring splash in the corner. Stink face follows suit to a pop from the crowd, but as she goes to pick Torres up, Eve quickly drops her with a roll up and applies her feet to the ropes for the victory! Eve celebrates the win over her former friend, as Kelly can’t believe someone would resort to such tactics in a match. For shame, Eve Torres, for shame!
Thoughts: Okay, I know in the past I have preached that I can’t get behind Superstars matches as much because there are no angles to set them up, but I will honestly say that I loved this match. Maybe it’s because their past has been established on Raw, but this felt like a very solid showing and didn’t slow down or get messy in the slightest. Eve Torres is a bajillion (is that a real number?) times better as a heel, and this match showed me that she’s grasping the move set as well now. I was worried when the two locked up on Raw that Eve was so used to being a face in the ring, considering a lot of her move set consisted of flashy flips etc. that she didn’t seem as well in the heel role ring wise at that time. After this showing though, I think she is definitely picking it up. She wasn’t too reliant on submissions and rest holds, and was still able to incorporate some of her past moves without coming off as a face.
Not only that, but Kelly was better here as well. She did do most of her signature stuff, but for some reason I liked how it came off tonight. One spot she did that I really enjoyed was how she switched it up after the hangman’s neckbreaker and proceeded to slam Eve’s head on the ring apron and go for the baseball slide instead of just pulling Eve out like she did to Brie the other week. Even though it made me cringe to see Eve’s face bashed against that after hearing how it’s the hardest part of the ring, I still thought the spot was a welcome change of pace and came off great. All those matches on house shows seem to have paid off for the two as they definitely delivered in my opinion.

Great outing for both of them, just wish this match would be put on raw and given the same time. If they took out so many of the pointless promos and backstage segments à la Laurinaitis and STOP repeating pointless matches week after week (David Otunga vs Santino Marella), this match could be put in and a storyline could build ON TV!!!!! Being a Diva fan is soooo futile sometimes.

WWE really needs to spent their tv time wisely when it comes to the matches and segments they do because I felt that Otunga vs Maerella could’ve been a mixed tag.
Kelly & Santino vs Otunga and Eve.

very very impressive match, both girls did awesome, and i am lovin Eve and her character for the first time since she debuted in the WWE, i feel like she is finally stepping up

Eve Got Major Heat When She Came Out.
& She Slapped Kelly Kelly Pretty Hard. I Was Like DAMN! That Look Like It Hurt.
Very Impressed w/ These Divas Especially Eve & Her Moveset.
P.S. With Eve Talking w/ John L. Makes Me Wonder, If Eve Will Get A Divas Championship Opportunity…Since She Helped John L. Team Win.

WOW, just wow. This match didn’t impress me at all. They were both clumsy at times, and the botched reverse STO kind of just ruined it for me. I feel like people have started overrating Eve’s ability since her heel turn.
I mean, she is no Beth and Natalya. This match was really average.

you know whats funny is that Everyone overrates Nattie and Beth as the be all for Divas yet Natalya and Beth both have had there moments when they botched moves, sure its not often but it has happened.

The only difference between them and the other girls when it comes to botching is that with experiences at hand, they always know what to do and how cover up their botches, making the botches less blatant and awkward. Girls like Kelly Kelly has always been clumsy and doesn’t even know what she is doing.

lol I had the same response I saw this and thought it was boring and terrible. A lot of botches, the spot at the end was even a botch, just messy selling of moves and they were both all over the place. Maybe it’s because they aren’t used to wrestling against each other in a one on one encounter, but it was terrible. I saw it and thought “OK I can see why they didn’t do this at Wrestlemania, because it’s awful.”

that was very impressive match. you can tell that both girls really a training to prefect their skill. sill lacking the talent michelle mccool and melina had but still giving it their all.

I laughed at Kelly’s face when Eve slapped her in the corner. It was a good match and is Kelly’s new show Superstars instead of Raw?
at
I enjoyed the match a lot more than I thought I would. These two have developed a decent chemistry and it’s too bad we can’t get a match at this length on Raw (because we do NOT need the fifty million replays and video packagaes they like to show).
at
I absolutely loved this match! It was … very very impressive. Both of them came off well in the ring and Kelly’s moves were not in the same chronological order this time, so that was a plus! Best divas match in the past couple of weeks … or months perhaps?

Kelly learned a new move. She learned how to count to 7!

You know whats funny, that when she was counting shots in the corner, she actually counted to 7 then got taken down lololol

I don’t know why they told her to do that. I wonder if they just dared her to say “Pow!” before in the corner, and this time they dared her to count? It was awkward, the crowd is supposed to count, unless she needs to do it so Eve knows her cue? Very strange.

As much as I love both girls.. The match ok to me.. But i didnt feel too satisfied with it
at
I liked how Eve’s attire is finally starting look more heelish, and I like how she still does her flip moves but adds a heelish flair to them, and I liked how Eve bitch slapped Kelly and Kelly had almost a look of shock on her face!

smh the rumor was true! Eve botched putting her feet to the ropes! :(. the match was alright in my opinion it was all over the place and poorly handled but what diva match is perfect nowadays? well better luck next time i guess i give it a 6.6/10

it was horrible, especially when they showed her trying to get her feet on the ropes again on the reply, lol. if that was Kelly or Alicia, all hell would have broke lose.

You could say Gail botches her foot on the ropes in her match this week, course I doubt 99% of people will pick up on that, because of course she’s a Knockout and not a mode-turned-wrestler.

Her foot got stuck underneath the bottom rope, yet she still made up for it and it ended up looking more than fine to me.

Too true. People are making excuses here.

Kelly really raised her points in my eyes with this match. She proved that she can pull off a decent match that’s not <2 minutes without a strong, capable wrestler like Beth. Good job Kells.
at
It was a ok match for me. Found it quite sloppy at times and found me once again and as usual saying “NO don’t do it!” when Kelly went for her whirlibird headschissors that I dislike so much, with a “omg..” coming right after.
Her Baseball Slide was good and rather the highlight of the match for me.

I love WWE Superstars, the Divas get decent time and they are always better, a nice wrestling match

I didn’t expect much from this match, but I think this is so far the best outing between the two! The match was better than expected.
Eve wore her best in ring outfit to date in this match IMO. Kelly looked great also. I have no complaints. The only thing lacking is the division itself still despite Eve and AJ somewhat picking up the slack (heat).

Oh my god, this match made me like Kelly Kelly. And it made me love heel Eve. I totally see her becoming Michelle McCool.
Not with her gimmick but one of the better/best competent athletic divas who came from a model/Diva-Search background. She did a really good job selling/carrying-out Kelly’s offense.
I hate her submissions though. They need to be more crisp and she needs to bring back that armbar she used.
Two thumbs up.

the match was really good, as opposed to all those less-than-two-minute matches. I LOVE the heel Eve, she can really go far with this! Cant wait to see Eve in the future, and I love how she moves herself. It is very cocky, and I like it!

Is it me or has kelly finally seem to stop at the gas station, gotten some fuel, and finally headed down the road of improvement? I dont know what it is but, to me, she has been giving some decent matches here on superstars. The one agaisnt the bellas was pretty nice. And this one was also decent too. You guys also have to remember, eve & the bellas aren’t beth or nattie when it comes to carrying a match, so for a match to come out like this, there is obviously some improvements. I like it.
Eve has been killing it with the attires, ever since ‘mania. This one has to be her best one yet. She’s bringing out the heel fierceness & I love it. Im also seeing that she’s finally starting to play the crowd, sort of. The hair flip additions, submission holds. I think she’s finally starting to get the hang of the heel moveset.
Overall, this match was good. Not boring at all, because it had some back story, and eve was able to carry her heel to her moves & kelly did too.

WWE Needs to put the title on Eve ASAP, and i never thought id say that.
Imagine eve vs Kharma feud, it would be the most over thing in the wwe since Trish vs Lita, and they can end it at the No Way Out ppv and have Eve vs Kharma in a Lumberjill Steel Cage match. It would be insane
Looking Glass Reply:
April 21st, 2012 at
That makes no sense – Lumberjill matches are to keep Divas in the ring, Cage matches are for competitors to escape the match…you can hardly push someone back in a cage.

The new no way out is set to feature Lumberjack Steel cage matches.
I pressume, they just try and stop them from climbing down the cage and touching the floor, it could be quite entertaining

Good match, while Kelly’s improving, it’s clear it is coming too little too late. On a more positive note, Eve is finally heeling it up, her choke on the rope reminded me of Trish ’04. <3

a good 5 1/2 minute match. wow. i enjoyed this match. i could watch it again. both girls did good. this shouldve been a WM match and it couldve been longer. but oh well. we will never see the kelly eve friendship over feud :(
i wish eve would win cleanly, like with a moonsault or neckbreaker soon
OH WELL EVE AND MAXINE BOTH WINNING THIS WEEK = GREAT WEEK!

btw kelly you fail at shouting #’s when doing the forearms in the corner lol. nobody counted with her haha
