WWE announced at today’s USA Network upfront presentations that Monday Night Raw will be expanding to three hours on a permanent basis from July 23rd.
The move means that Raw will now start at 8pm ET every week.
Will this mean more time and storyline development for the Divas? Fingers crossed.
Elsewhere, TNA and Spike TV announced that Impact Wrestling will be going live on a weekly basis through the summer beginning May 31st, the same night the show moves to a new time slot of 8pm ET.
Is three hours of Raw too much? Will live Impact on a weekly basis help TNA? Discuss!

This could be a good move, since it provides more time to advance midcard storylines. Or, it could be a disaster, since WWE will probably fill the extra hour with John Lauranitis (sp?) promos.

Diva matches could go for as long as 4 WHOLE MINUTES!
GENIUS!

well let’s be fair, 4 minutes is plenty of time to have a good match

That’s true.
My sarcasm is just a cover. I am legitimately excited for the prospect of more time being allowed for building of more characters, angles, and better matches.
On the other hand, I, like everyone SHOULD be, am wary of the extra time being for longer Cena segments, more commercials, more recaps, and more TRENDINGTWITTERWORLDWIDEHASHTAGFACEBOOK.
I’m hoping for the best.

I’m so excited for LIVE iMPACT!!!!!!!! :D
No spoilers anymore and hopefully after summer, TNA would go LIVE full time :D

When has 3 hour Raws been good to the Divas? They tend to get screwed even worse.

Agreed, I’m afraid the Divas matches will still stay the same…., The funny thing about it is that TNA is a once a week, 2 hour show yet they still manage to give there Knockouts and Male wrestlers Time and storylines, yet WWE who has not one but 4 shows still can’t manage to give the divas or Midcarders anything…… anyone but me see this as very sad……

It’s way to much wrestling imo. I don’t even watch an hour of WWE every week so having 5 hours of programming every week is excessive.
at 11:05 pm
I hope they are prepared for this, WCW Monday Nitro went to 3 hours as well once upon a time. We see where they ended up.

yeah but Eric Bischoff doesn’t work for WWE so the same will not happen

IM happy for TNA. that means ill have to watch to see the knockouts, usually i read the spoilers and then watch the match when it coms on.
idk
but im happy for tna

I think its good for WWE, especially hopefully the divas to get another hour of Raw, so much more they can do, so i am excited
Now Impact i think this is a very stupid move, TNA right now is hardly holding a 1.0 rating, so for them to go live, people will just wait until they read the recap and then go and youtube it, instead of reading the spoilers ahead of time, and knowing weither or not they wanna tune in, and also, i dont think TNA will really be able to afford it, if the rumors are true that they are hard up for money, then this is gonna be alot most costly than taping 2 and 3 tapings at a time, now they are gonna have to fly the talents, agents, creative and everything out each week, instead of every two or three week, IMO, but hopefully it works out for them

heres hoping that 3 hours does help the divas but i see a whole bunch more recaps of what happened minutes before happening…….i do wish to be proven wrong by the wwe

Seeing as how the Divas tend to get screwed over on screen time on 3 hour Raws, I’m not optimistic. I expect this just means we’re in for a lot more unfunny comedy filler and a lot more screen time for John Cena. Yawn…
at 11:18 pm
The divas just moved up in the world, now they’ll get an extra 30 seconds! But seriously, if the divas don’t start getting more time with this extra hour of wwe programming something is seriously messed up!

Agreed.

TNA going live is definitely the right move, gives it a bit more excitement. As for a 3 hour Raw, the extra hour is more likely to be used for the 100th video package of Cena/Lesnar/HHH etc. than it is for the Divas.
at 11:24 pm
I agree with a lot of u about tna even tho I don’t watch it this is going to help them Because now fans are not reading spoiler. :) Good for them
at 11:27 pm
Kharma is coming soon. :)
at 11:28 pm
3 hours means an extra minute for the divas. Now we have 2 minutes of diva action to look forward to every week.
at 11:28 pm
The Divas will most likely get an average of 8 minutes each show. This won’t fix the clusterfuck booking and non continuing storylines, though.
at 11:29 pm
Impact going live on Thursday could help a lot, especially when you combine it with the 8:00 pm new timeslot.
at 11:45 pm
oooh an extra hour of video packages yayy!!! hopefully more airtime = more Divas + more storyline development… wait this is WWE nvm.

I hate to be negative but it won’t be the first ever 3 hour Raw and previous showings have proved to be a disappoint, as far as divas are concerned.

But those where important shows.
And this is a normal so hopefully They will more TV time ^,^

Having those special 3-hour RAW never work when it comes to ratings so to have this permantely it depends on how it goes? But I would like to see improvement for the Divas sake.
TNA doing live shows is the smartest thing they can do because filming it infront an Orlando crowd will start to get stale and boring. Lets see what happens with these new moves both WWE and TNA are doing and it affects both the KO’s and the Divas?
at 2:01 am
Yep, the writers won’t be able to resist copious doses of Cena attempting comedy and those extra minutes of screentime for the Divas? Shame on you for even thinking it.
at 3:34 am
Given that all previous 3 hour shows were touted as “special” the divas have suffered…though wasn’t Beth vs Nikki on a three hour show? That got like four minutes. Now that it’ll be an every week thing, there’s no excuse to not give the divas and midcarders more storylines and match time. Absolutely no excuse. They need to go back to the formula they had years ago: more wrestling, less recaps and stupid promos.
