Eve Torres Joins NBC Military Themed Reality Competition ‘Stars Earn Stripes’

Fans have been wondering why Eve Torres abruptly disappeared from WWE television a few weeks ago. Well, it looks like we have our answer — she has been filming a new NBC celebrity reality competition series, Stars Earn Stripes.

The show sees eight celebrities compete in “tough military training exercises”, reports EW.com.

According to the report, like ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, the celebrities will be paired with real life experts with military or law enforcement experience. “Contests range from helicopter drops to long-range target shooting, with the celebrity and the veteran competing as a team. Each week, one team is eliminated.”

Joining Eve on the show are boxer Laila Ali, Superman actor Dean Cain, singer Nick Lachey and more.

The series premieres on Monday, August 13th at 8pm ET with a two hour episode. Interestingly, that would mean the show goes head-to-head with Raw on USA Network.

Uh-oh! Another diva in a reality show!

Hopefully they salvage her on-screen persona and won’t regress to “generic face” Eve just because she’s in this. Could easily be done by saying she did this for (a) money, (b) exposure, and (c) she saw Laryngitis’ fall from grace coming and distanced herself.

Clever idea! and on this reality show Eve can show case her heel persona to become the top on reality tv as well as wwe!

Based on how well she actually does she could return as a bad ass diva
But its only wishing that they use this to give her more personality

Well, according to the press release that I read about the show, each celebrity is competing to earn money for a military-based charity (Eve’s is the USO), which makes it a little harder to ‘heel’ up her motives.

It is interesting that a heel diva is the one chosen to do this. Maybe the concern that Kelly may not return made the WWE decide to try and make another diva more recognizable/marketable.

Good exposure for Eve. Now the focus is on Aj, so Aj is being build, Eve is getting exposure, Kelly is on Maxim, now the divas champ need some exposure. I say some interviews on jimmy kemmel, jimmy fallon, jay leno, b.e.t, and entertainment tonight and she will be good.

You are significantly overreaching how much WWE cares about its women unless a Z-list celebrity or magazine is involved.

it’s a shame it’s happening around the time wwe were starting to actually use her but all the best to her on this show. i think it says a lot that eve is doing it as opposed to a more popular diva like kelly or beth, though, and hopefully when she returns to wwe tv they carry on where they left off with her character.

Good exposure for Eve, being on a show on a major network like NBC… I wonder if she’ll just have to be off WWE television while filming the reality show, or if she’ll have to be off until it’s done actually airing…

I dont find this to be a good idea with her being the heel she was why would fans tune into watch no one but diva fans will care for one two it makes all the build up to her turn just go down the drain to take her off tv now especially when we need another heel diva at the moment i honestly feel when she aligned with John that was it turn went downhill and WWE knew it as well like we may as well face it this division is in not in limbo its practically dead

It seems that most divas that join reality shows, don’t last much longer in the WWE afterwards, hopefully Eve will break that trend.

i dunno about this guys… but i think this won’t help her with her WWE career… if anything i think it’s bad for it ! she was getting the biggest push of her career, and now she’s on a reality show competing with monday night raw… now that a lot of divas are out.. whats left ? I mean Kelly Kelly is on a well deserved break, kharma’s return is like a not gonna happen for now, maxine, natalya , tamina and alicia will probably disappear after nxt is gone… what’s gonna happen ? beth getting yet another shot ? Oh plz !

To Lucky: You are correct. Stacy Keibler came in 3rd on the only season of DWTS that I actually watched. Drew Lachey won, and sentimental fave Jerry Rice was 1st runner-up.

How much longer will she be filming? I want her back in WWE asap.

This comes as no surprise to me btw, Eve is very passionate about staying incredibly fit, and in great competitive shape. No way will she be leaving WWE anytime soon though, I think people are looking too much in to it. Especially seeing as she put Ryder’s (kayfabe) hopes of her leaving to bed tweeting ‘you wish’.

    June 19, 2012 at 11:49 pm

They’re probably close to the end of filming if not already done- Eve’s been off TV for what, 3 or 4 weeks now?

I suspect that even if they’re done, they might hold her off for a while- then have her come back and turn her face immediately (Incorporating the show into it- say that John Laurintius had gotten her on the show before he was fired to further her career, but that filming the show changed her, and she realized what an idiot she had been recently- and apologizes to Zack and Cena among others.)

WWE will promote it a little bit, at least for the premiere episode- if only because for the cross-promotion between NBC and USA).

Turning Eve face would be a very, very bad idea. People would pop, maybe, the first few times then return to not caring. They actually spent a bit of time developing her heel character, and should pick up where they left off. If Mark Henry, who plays a bully on-screen who puts people in “a hall of pain”, can be shown on tv in BAS segments promoting anti-bullyinh, they can promote Eve on a military-friendly reality show and still keep her as a heel.

If they need a new top babyface to fill the void should Kelly go, or to “assist” in the top babyface spots if she stays, let it be AJ. People are actually cheering for her, so why turn her heel? People want to see babyface divas with an edge, a character. So let her be a likeable face who just happens to be a bit off her rocker.

It is a darned shame if they turn Eve face so soon. Just when they finally got something right, they muck it up.

        June 20, 2012 at 12:54 am

My only concern is that I believe this is the first time a Diva left to do a reality show when they were a heel. It doesn’t have to necessarily be a full face turn perhaps- maybe a tweener turn- but I don’t think NBC will want her badmouthing the show in-character.

        • samd

          June 20, 2012 at 1:05 am

She can be a full-fledged heel and not badmouth the show. Like said before, they show Mark Henry telling kids at a school to be a star, yet 10 mins later air a live promo where he is promising to break someone’s body in half. Simple as this: air promos for Eve’s reality show, with her being out of character like Del Rio, Otunga and Henry do for those BAS campaign rallies. Then have her be in heel character all other times. No need to turn her face or tweener.
