Exclusive: Taeler Hendrix Talks TNA Gut Check on Impact Wrestling, Working with Tara, Cancer & More

Following last week’s Impact Wrestling, Taeler Hendrix became the talk of the wrestling world when she became the first woman to compete in TNA’s Gut Check challenge live on Spike TV. Hendrix, who revealed her unique back story — being diagnosed with cancer at age 21 — faced off against veteran female wrestler, Tara. This week she’ll find out if she impressed the Gut Check judges enough to earn a TNA contract on Impact Wrestling, but before that, we talk to Taeler to get the scoop on her whirlwind week.

Since the Gut Check segment aired, Taeler’s biggest opportunity in wrestling to date, the OVW star’s Twitter following has doubled, she’s received more exposure than previously in her career and she’s been inundated with media requests. Speaking exclusively to Diva Dirt, Taeler discusses her Gut Check, how she felt she did, what it was like working with Tara and the backstage reception she received from the Knockouts.

Plus, we talk to Taeler about her start in wrestling, her influences, working in OVW where she recently held the OVW Women’s Championship for over 200 days, and more.

Taeler also opens up and explains the full story about her battle with cancer which was mentioned on last week’s Impact, and clears up some rumors about her diagnosis.

Have to say I like her. I think TNA would be for the better to have her signed at this point, to give the Knockouts division some young blood and youthful drive. Even though she’s still pretty green in alot of respects, she knows what she has to do to improve, and will be a major asset for the company in the future.

Love her! As a huge OVW fan I’ve seen her live a bunch and can tell you that she’s ready to step up to the next level… If the match with Tara onThursday didn’t prove that I don’t know what willl.

Cancer? Talk about a gut check!

i really hope she makes it and starts off working with a tag partner rather like velvet with angelina or when miss tessmacher hooked up with tara. i think she has potential and will learn a lot faster working alongside the KOs and not the girls back in OVW.

She’s from my area ;D I loved seeing her in the ring. Her moves are great.

She comes over well and performed well in last week’s match with Tara. I’m expecting TNA to sign her, after all given the way her problems with cancer have been documented TNA not signing her would seem pretty calous. All that said adding another KO to the roster creates its own issues with likes of Angelina, Winter, Rositia and in particular Sarita not being used properly or often enough.
