On this day in history:
July 10th, 2000 | In an effort towards settling (or probably just exacerbating) their grudge, Lita and Trish Stratus were booked to compete in a Street Fight. Despite the promises of the stipulation, however, the Divas never made it outside of the ring. The match came to a screeching halt when Lita, deciding to humiliate Trish rather than just beat the tar out of her, took her opponent’s top off. This brought about the screeching siren and sudden appearance of Steven Richards, who covered Trish in a sheet and hurried her to the back. The Right to Censor was only a few weeks old at the time and thus far only consisted of Richards, but this moment proved to be a good example of one of the group’s chief motives: censor “scantily clad” women.
What are your memories of this moment? Tell us in the comments!

Could they have done a lot more, though? Trish wasn’t much of a wrestler in those days.

Booooo!! I hated RTC!! Seems RTC is alive and well these days in WWE xp
Say NO to censoring scantily clad women and YES! YES! YES! To Let the pigeons loose!!!
But seriously, RTC was a hell of a group despite how much I hated them looking back I think they were great. Lol The Godfather going to The Goodfather lol and ivory was their prime member along with Dr Stevie Richards PhD

The next week would have a more memorable moment, during the Hardys vs Dudleys match, one that would (though I’m sure no one knew it at the time) set the future of the Women’s Division. The Hardys & Dudleys had a lot of great matches, but in that one, the ladies stole the show.
Or, maybe someone DID know how big a deal it would be, then, since, two weeks after that, those two found themselves in their first Raw main event.

Actually two weeks after this was the strap match. The main event was the week after that one.

I said “two weeks after THAT,” “that” being the Hardys-Dudleys match with the ladder and table spot (June 17).

I forgot all about this match. I loved the segment with Test, Albert, and Val. I personally think Val and Test were hotties. Lol. But yeah, the match, the moonsault was picture-perfect.

I did a whole project where I recapped Trish’s entire career (because I am cool like that), and one of the many things I realized was that, yes, 2000 Val Venis was sex on a stick (I think he was actually hurt by being put in RTC, as his character was red-hot during that summer).

WWE is PG now. Does that mean that Right-To-Censor…won??

Now I’m picturing Stevie returning with a Right to Uncensor gimmick, where he’s demanding more sex and violence, trying to strip the Divas, hitting guys with chairs, etc.

That would actually make an EPIC face character because people would LOVE that!
