Welcome to another wonderful edition of the Superstars Redux. It’s the first week in a pretty long time that I have one of these to write, and depending on the match, this could be a good or bad thing. Already from the get go, I’m kind of excited because it’s a match we haven’t seen before in that of Alicia Fox and Kaitlyn against Beth Phoenix and Natalya. This could go one of two ways (obviously), so let’s get started because I can’t think of anything else to say to build this up!
PARRTAYYYY hits the sound system, and out skips the perky Kaitlyn and equally perky Alicia Fox. Adorned in her Fancy Fox Hood, the two former enemies team up for the first time and look to make a statement against their opponents, the Divas of Doom. Beth and Nattie look to be all business tonight, as they pose on the ring apron before stepping inside the squared circle. The bell sounds as we get started with Alicia and Natalya circling about. Nattie applies a waist lock and takes Fox down, before Alicia fights out and they engage in a shoving war. Fox eventually kicks Natalya in the stomach and smacks her on the butt, but Nattie proceeds to slap her across the face in rebuttal.
The two head to the corner, as we then witness Natalya go for a Monkey Flip. Fox impressively lands on her feet and leapfrogs over Nattie! She then hits a really nice headscissors takedown for a two count, before tagging in Kaitlyn as the two hit a snapmare/dropkick combo for a two count. Nattie soon takes control and hilariously lets Kaitlyn know how much she hates her, as she proceeds to tag in Beth to a great reception. Beth begins to dominate Kaitlyn, but Kaitlyn then fights out with a nice crossbody for a two count. Tag back in to Fox, with the duo hitting another nice double team maneuver ending with a dropkick by Fox. Nattie tries to run in, but Alicia hip tosses her over right onto a downed Beth!
The Divas of Doom scurry to the outside, sparking Foxy to run forward with a baseball slide towards Phoenix. After a brief moment to collect her thoughts, Beth hurries back into the ring and kicks Fox in the midsection. She goes for a clotheslines, but Alicia matrixes out and hits a dropkick! Tag into Nattie, but Fox leapfrogs over and back elbows her. Tag into Kaitlyn, with both hitting an Irish Whip into a Sidewalk Slam for a two count. Kaitlyn proceeds to hit a Suplex, as Scott Stanford namedrops Kathy Bates to my amusement. Kaitlyn seems to have injured her knee a bit, as Beth and Nattie now start to work the injured body part over. Phoenix Irish Whips Natalya into Kaitlyn, but as Nattie tries to keep the upper hand, Kaitlyn dodges out of the way.
Kaitlyn tries to crawl towards Foxy, but Natalya backs her into the corner and tags in Beth. Phoenix applies a single leg Boston Crab, as Alicia gets the crowd to cheer Kaitlyn on. Natalya runs in behind the referees back and takes Fox off the ring apron, and this does nothing but piss Alicia off! She runs back in and tackles Nattie to the floor, but Beth eventually pulls Fox off and throws her to the outside as well. Phoenix turns back around and goes to lift Kaitlyn up, but Kaitlyn scores a small package for the HUGE upset! Kaitlyn and Alicia celebrate their victory, as Beth has to be physically restrained by Natalya from the utter shock of this surprising result.
Thoughts: To say I loved this match would be an understatement. I thought it was really, really fantastic, on all four Divas’ parts. No one seemed off, and it was insanely fast paced throughout the majority of the bout, which I prefer to slow and methodical. Natalya can work with anyone, and I still don’t believe I have ever seen her take part in a bad match in the four years she’s been on TV. I honestly believe she is the best female wrestler WWE has, and like she said in her interview with Colt Cabana, whether she’s at the top of the Diva food chain or not isn’t important. It’s not going to change the fact that she continues to put on great match after great match with whoever she’s against.
I also want to speak on Alicia and Kaitlyn, who got a huge surprise victory pinning Beth Phoenix. If you were to tell anyone that Beth and Kaitlyn would be involved in the finish, I highly doubt anyone could believe it would be Kaitlyn and Alicia leaving with a victory. Personally, I felt this was Fox’s best performance in a long time. Don’t get me wrong, Alicia is one of my favorites when it comes to Divas, but I kind of felt her ring work had become stagnant in recent matches. Granted, she’s barely seemed to have any lately, and when she did, they were quick losses to Beth Phoenix, but she looked like a different person out there tonight. Everything was on point, looked sharp, quick, and delivered. Keep it up, Foxy, please!
As far as Kaitlyn goes, some may think it’s “alarming” for the most recent Divas Champion/number one contender attaining a loss to her on Superstars… but honestly, I love Kaitlyn so I’m really not bothered. I would kill to see her get utilized more because I think she’s very underrated as a performer. Whether her pinning Beth leads to anything or not, I’m happy for her because she’s never really had that breakout victory since she was always kind of the punching bag for the Divas of Doom during Beth’s title reign, and outside that, mainly competed on NXT. I feel like she and Layla could put on a great match when you mix Layla’s speed with Kaitlyn’s power. Kind of like how Kaitlyn and AJ always shined against each other in FCW. But to sum this up, tonight’s Divas tag was top notch, and I commend Beth, Natalya, Alicia, and Kaitlyn on delivering a great performance.

I personally enjoyed the match very much. Everyone did great and I admit it was kind of nice to see Kaitlyn get a little victory. I think she would do well to have a back and forth program with Natalya or Beth. Working with the vetrans is how the less experienced like her improve. On NXT she has improved but like she’s worked mostly with Maxine and Tamina with some matches with Natalya mixed in. An actual little feud with Nattie or Beth though could really see what she’s made of.

Also want to say that this was probably the best I’ve seen Alicia do in awhile. She gets a lot of flack by people but when she’s on her game she can go.

Alicia did good. kaitlyn did the same stuff she always does. Beth and Nattie losing was weird but we all know Beth can’t beat a roll-up to save her life.

Kaitlyn is boring she needs to be release while Alicia really needs a push she has much talent and personality than Layla. Right?!

Kaitlyn doesnt need more time to shine. She was given a chance before in wwe nxt season 3 and she just do some jerky dance. In nxt redemption she was given a chance to have 6-7 minutes match but still BORING.

From my point of view, this match will still be good even if alicia had a different partner

“She was given a chance before in wwe nxt season 3″
-a last min. replacement (w/ a handful of weeks of experience) for that amazon girl = a given chance?! check your history.
“In nxt redemption she was given a chance to have 6-7 minutes match but still BORING.”
-in her 1st lengthy match against Tamina, noone could say that was boring. Get it thru your head, she got minimal experience and is under a booking embargo. Do you really think there isn’t a problem (to mgmt) if she was booked to her body & athletics? How would that make others look? What effect would it have ESPECIALLY in this minimalist Diva division? Either debunk this or continue on hatin.

@Divafan
Kaitlyn had only like a month experience in NXT 3 and barely any in ring training.
She still rocked the final match against the more experienced naomi, sold everything perfectly and executed her moves on spot.
The only problem with the match was michael cole or the commentators in general that made a mess out of it.
With that said, after 3-4 months of experience she got into some good tag team matches with naomi against aj and aksana and aj and rosa in FCW that proved that she is very talented and can be a great wrestler if given the time, the character (like the one she developed in NXT Redemption against Maxine but got cut due to the changes there) and when she isn’t suffering under restrictions like every diva on the main shows.
Before that she had a match with Rosa in FCW that was great.
She worked all her matches botchfree (except of one untelevised FCW match in which she sold a bit too early to Naomi) which you can’t tell about every Diva on the roster.
Like others said, with given time and the chance to shine without having moveset restrictions, she can develop to a great in ring competitor as also a great character cause the talent is definately there.
Did you ever put a thought about WHY hard hitting, fast paced matches like this one happen RARELY and only on nxt or superstars when it comes to the Divas in general?
It is more than obvious that they gave them more freedom in this one so the girls took the chance to shine and delivered perfectly.
Was the same in the match kaitlyn & aj vs the bella twins on superstars which was also fast paced with lots of action and great spots.

-Not to natalya she hasn’t. She hasn’t been power-booked decently against others much less a DoD member.
How do ppl n realize the booking parameters..oh wait they busy hatin (DIVAFAN)

Alicia was impressive here. She did very well.

Very good match. Alicia surprised me here, as she is usually pretty awful. Good job, Kaitlyn did well (girl is pretty underrated), and Beth & Natalya (more Nattie) did great. This was fun.

Kaitlyn is extremely underrated. She’s gorgeous, is constantly improving each and every time we see her and has an adorably geeky character. I can see her and AJ becoming “the” stars of this generation if given the right time to shine.
at 7:01 pm
Alicia was in rare form, she looked fabulous and in rare form. Wasn’t a fan of her outfit though. Lol, not that it matters. I loved Nattie’s in-ring antics, she’s a great wrestler, and she’s highly entertaining. Kaitlyn and Beth also did great! Fantastic match!
at 7:08 pm
I wish Alicia played more f a power wrestler but she’s more of a human flamingo haha she’s weird and not that hot and no one can ever perfect that Matrix like Trish Stratus can hehe
I did like her head sissor take down with those long legs
Nice match from the divas, and guys ppl DO get behind the divas if u go to the love shows the crowd is in even in a Kelly match
Meantime even if Beth lost so what…is she do busy building legitimacy for her number one contenders ship run?
Haha sarcasm is funny!! =D
Beth’s not going anywhere
Good to see Divas Of Dumb reunited

Power? Why not more of the dynamic style?
did u wanna see her norther lights plex? cuz Nat can sell that no problem but its already alot (in the wack booking cadence) for any DoDer’ to take a suplex, back breaker and as u confirmed, a successful Beth irish whip.

Sorry for late reply. Yeah I mean Alicia rox in the ring I do like her skills but not every diva can really hang with those moves. I realize now shes a tall girl very strong but not very powerful. I guess because im thinking Rhaka Khan..who btw was fuckking aweful in the ring…idk
Shes ok doing what shes doing always a pleasure seeing that Northern Lights done right
Irish whipping Beth I imagine cant be easy haha

its all good; this story is still in the feature spot.
agreed.

These are the types of matches that make me love Alicia Foxy. But what else can you expect? When you put Natalya and Beth in the ring with the less seasoned girls you get a great match (usually) My only gripe is that the match was pretty favored towards Fox&Kaitlyn. Nat and Beth didn’t get as much offense.
at 7:10 pm
Alicia did fantastic and looked great:) even her weave looked better than usual! It looks like someone wants a push:D
at 7:11 pm
I can’t figure it out. Good performance by Alicia, other times horrible like her match against Beth. Kaitlyn is’nt ready for wwe. There much better divas at nxt/fcw.

no, you’re describing the person in your av w/ Kaitlyn’s current experience time, and we all know it :)

Alicia was clearly the spotlight in this match. She maneuvered and sold well. She even got decent pops from the crowd. It amazes me how much flak Alicia gets from ppl when shes actually really great. She brings tons of diversity when shes in the ring, unlike Kelly (as u know your gonna see the same 5 moves you always get from Kels) I feel like Alicia could be one of the best divas Wwe has to offer if they gave her the proper “Golden Age” style opportunities.

ALICIA FOX IS BACK!!! SUCKY DUCKY, QUACK QUACK
at 7:28 pm
I absolutely loved this divas tag match.Every girl in this match did such a great job!Alicia Fox, in my opinion, was the standout diva in this match.Every move she did was nailed perfectly.People usually give her flak because she tends to be sloppy sometimes, but she wasn’t sloppy at all in this match. The girl does indeed have potentia. The only thing I feel she needs to work on is having better flow and being a bit more fluid in the ring because like I said, she does have those times when she is sloppy.
I definitely feel that Kaitlyn is very underrated. This girl has alot of potential as well.I feel like she really has good chemistry with divas like Beth and Natalya because she has a similar style of wrestling that they do.I felt her getting the win wasn’t a bad thing at all.The rollup was a great end to the match when you think about it because Beth was distracted with Alicia Fox, which gave Kaitlyn time to recover.
All in all,a sold, great divas match.

i normally dont like alicia fox matches but she done an amazing here

See what a new outfit can do for you…lol I was always a Fox fan and always said if she’s given time she’ll show her stuff and thats what she did. Take this Alicia and put her in a program with Layla
at 8:06 pm
I thought that was a really good match! Especially on Alicias behalf, she did very well, proves she can do it! Also liked her attire thought it was nice!
at 8:34 pm
I love this match Alicia and kaitlyn have improved a lot and end are the original not the typical hot tag
at 9:03 pm
scott stanford: “we will see the diva’s tag team division start to heat up? time will tell.” one can dream….
at 9:21 pm
I hate all the flak Alicia gets too. She just needs matches that allow her to shine, meaning she needs matches that are more than 2-3 minutes. Every was impressed by the ring psychology. Alicia didn’t perform any fancy moves or anything like that. But she delivered with the ring psychology. This is why the diva matches/division is hurting right now. Each diva does have some form of a character. But without the time to build the psychology of a match, much of the matches excitement is lost. Personally I think Alicia is a great wrestler she just needs to improve her taunts and mic skills as a face (but she has these things down as a heel).

This is the BEST Diva’s match I have seen in probably over a year. THIS is what happens when you put Foxy in the ring with EXPERIENCED performers. She’s a fantastic wrestler but can you blame her for botching at times when competing with the likes of Kelly Kelly, Eve and Maxine? Come on now. Who wouldn’t botch trying to work with those Divas in the ring?
TEAMMELINA Reply:

she botched in matches with natalya and beth phoenix so whats the excuse for those mistakes

In my opinion, Alicia is in trouble when she has to rush. If she has a bit more time she performs better. The faster she has to go, the sloppier she gets. It’s almost like she gets going TOO fast then and then can’t put the brakes on her own body.
at 11:41 pm
I would probably rate this as the best divas match of the year so far. all 4 of these women seemed to really play off of each other chemistry wise, it had a good pace and Alicia & Kaitlyn seemed some what more comfortable and confident with Nattie and Beth which was great :) I honestly think if we get matches like this with a decent story line then people may start to wake up and realise it’s not down to the ‘lack of talent’ because the E definitely have it. Even with the handful of Divas at the moment, I remember when all we really had was Jazz, Lita, Victoria, Gail, Trish, Molly Nidia and Stacy. Do I think Kharma will ‘save the division’? Not really, but she would be an incredible addition to it. These girls have proven many people wrong, but then again it’s only one match. All that is needed is storylines, segments and extra in ring time to prove how good the women of today are, it’s creative’s fault (obviously), these girls have to accept and work with what they are given. I personally think the talent is just as good as it was years back, if anything creative needs the re-vamp

Kaitlyn is truly a natural at this, she has had less then 2 years in-ring experience and look at her!
Also props to these girls for getting the crowd somewhat interested

Yep! This shows that even “Diva haters” or “Anti-Diva” persons would change their mind towards the division and enjoy them more if more matches like that would take place.
Check in the beginning there is a guy on the right side having a sign saying “Boring”.
He raises it when the divas are coming in, then he raises it again at the beginning.
After a few moves however the sign suddenly gets lowered and never comes back again. :p
Why? Because the Divas weren’t boring after all and that’s because they were given time and more freedom in their movesets so they could all work properly and show what they can do. :)
at 12:45 am
lol i loved this match and alicia fox really impressed me.
at 12:52 am
Wow, why can’t we have these matches on RAW? DOD lost, but this was still one of the best Divas matches in recent memory.
at 1:32 am
Alicia was on point with everything the mvp of this match…beth & nattie did basically nothing nice pop for beth when she tagged in but they both looked outmatched by alicia & kaitlyn wrestling wise….
Kaitlyn’s awful acting over her knee was terrible & next minute shes ok??..todays divas dont sell injuries like they used to…..

You need to DESCRIPTIVELY explain how the knee selling was terrible? (so I & we all can know better, & I thank you in advance ;) )
“& next minute shes ok?” – what are you referring to? there was no rope running much less 3 steps taken w/ out crawling and the ramp celebrating was almost totally a slow crouch fest.

caps has no effect on you apparently. Again, let’s see if you have actual insight or you’re on something “else”.
Let’s try it again:
- Specifically define “bad”.
- What should it have been like?
- “rolled out” (?) She was supposed to b/c of the upset. Did you really expect to see a slow crawl out w/ Beth on the chase immediately?
-” fine outside the ring” (?) No, she was clearly recover posturing for almost all of it.
