While Kaitlyn may not have won the General Manager assistant job last week on SmackDown, she netted a pretty sweet consolation prize Monday night on Raw… #1 contendership for the Divas Championship! This week, Kaitlyn takes to the commentary booth to scout her future opponent, Layla as she takes on the sassy Alicia Fox in non-title, singles action. Can Alicia manage to work her way into the title picture with a win over the champ? Check out the match below:
We start out Divas action for the night with the challenger, Alicia Fox already in the ring, working the crowd. Layla is out next to a pretty good reaction from the crowd. After a pretty awkward silence between Kaitlyn and Michael cole on commentary, the official signals for the bell and our match is underway.
The Divas lock up to start things off, but Alicia quickly rolls Layla up for a one count. Layla jumps back to her feet, but is taken back down to the mat by the challenger with a swift side headlock takedown. Layla manages to fight her way back to her feet and rolls Alicia up for a near fall. Before Alicia can collect herself, the champion goes on the offensive with a kick to the gut, followed by a springboard crossbody for another nearfall.
Alicia gets back to a vertical base, only to get blasted in the face by a forearm from Layla. Layla hits the ropes and comes charging at Alicia, but the challenger leapfrogs over her and catches her with a dropkick for a two count. Meanwhile, Kaitlyn and Cole discuss Natalya wrestling boots and their smell. …Intriguing…
Back in the ring, Alicia whips Layla across the ring and comes charging at her, but Layla halts her momentum and kicks Alicia firmly in the midsection. Layla goes up to the high risk district, but Alicia cuts her off at the pass with a kick to her bad leg, sending the champ crashing to the canvas.
Looking to keep the pressure on the champion, Alicia works on the injured leg for a bit, before locking in a half Boston Crab. After a brief struggle, Layla fights her way out of the submission, and rolls Alicia up with an inside cradle, but it isn’t enough to get the victory.
Both competitors make it to their feet and Layla goes for a clothesline. Alicia just barely evades with a bridge, but is not so lucky when it comes to the kick to the face that follows, allowing Layla to pick up the win.
Post-match, Kaitlyn enters the ring and has a staredown with Layla, which ends in the future opponents shaking hands. Unfortunately, this moment of good sportsmanship is interrupted by Eve, who comes to the ring and raises Kaitlyn and Layla’s hands for no reason whatsoever.
Thoughts: Albeit pretty short, I thought this was a pretty good match. Layla was looking a lot better in the ring tonight than she did a few weeks ago on Raw and Alicia was solid, as well. Hopefully, Layla can keep up the good work as she defends her title against Kaitlyn, whenever that may be.
As for the random appearance of Eve, I’m not quite sure what to make of it. We all know that there no love lost between Eve and Layla, and same goes for Eve and Kaitlyn. I fully expect to see Eve insert herself into this upcoming Divas Championship match in some capacity. It may not be clear just yet, but Eve definitely has an ace up her sleeve.

I loved smackdown! also seeing eve with those glasses brings me back to when stacy keibler was a smackdown assistant! I hope eve is apart of the championship match and hopefully its at NOC :)

Eve also had a segment with Teddy and Booker T. I think besides putting herself into the picture they might use that to show her being a good assistant. Showing that she can put past differences aside to impress Booker. Eve and Teddy Long feud coming up. lol

When I first saw in the spoilers that Alicia was facing Layla, I thought they had turned Alicia heel.but after watching this divas match,Alicia still seemed like a face to me,especially when I saw her in the ring twirling her coat around and smiling at the fans.I’m glad they didn’t randomly turn her heel.After all,she was a face on RAW during that battle royal.
Pretty decent divas match.Yes,it was short,but it didn’t feel too short or rushed to me.The crowd kinda sucked though…And I kinda felt Cole and Kaitlyn’s commentary took away from the match a bit.But other than that,pretty good divas match.
Eve looked GORGEOUS!After seeing her raise Kaitlyn and Layla’s hand,I definitely have a feeling she will either be a part of the divas championship match between Layla and Kaitlyn,whether she’s the referee or if she’s gonna insert herself in the match as one of the challengers.

Didn’t like this at all. No reac for anyone involved, even Eve got the tiniest Hoeski chant which shows how little they care for her as a heel. Kaitlyn on commentary wasn’t great, she may have been told some things through her earpiece like Cole was during that whole awkward silence moment. The match itself felt even shorter than the time it had since both women didn’t do enough, as well as there being bad chemistry in this match.
Not a good week for SmackDown and their divas, but I suppose they got at least a little bit of time, thats better than nothing… right?

Oh really, what’s interesting exactly, because I dont see what it was here. Maybe they did have good chemistry in this match, maybe the lack of reaction made me see the match differently, but I felt in myself that this wasn’t a good match.
And that’s a laugh comparing me to the typical diva fans, for what, having an opinion on a possible ‘off night’ for the divas? Go sit in a corner and think about what you said, go on, GO ON! Naughty person…

naughty person?? lol aren’t you adorable. whats interesting is that we actually got build up. (eve raising both their hands, kaitlyn & layla stare down). the lack of reaction happens in every divas match nowadays. so how could u use that factor to make your point that this was a bad match?
i beg to differ, this was not a off night. a example of a off night would be any night kelly or rosa is fighting. we are getting more divas on tv with the layla kaitlyn eve build up. plus the backstage footage of eve layla and kaitlyn. so take what we are getting, dont whine, and take a seat.

Why yes I am aborable thank you! =-3 (I know that sarcasm, I just like to go with it). Now I never said the Eve aftermath or the backstage footage wasn’t interesting, I’m just saying the match wasn’t. And while you’re right about the Kelly & Rosa comment, and I already made a comment about them getting a spot on the show at least, but they weren’t really given more time in this match and while the match wasn’t terrible, it was mosty definetly forgetable.
But with all that said I am intrigued as to where they will be going with this whole Layla/Kaitlyn/Eve thing so I will sit down and watch.

They were givin more time than most the Divas! No arguing with that. In my opinion and alot of other people’s opinion this match was very interesting. Even if the match is forgetable, it wont be forgot too soon. Atleast long enough to take the storyling to the ppv.

Here is my problem with Kaitlyn and it shined strongly on commentary, “characters” that are just the actual person aren’t interesting. It’s why Eve as a narcissistic manipulator and A.J. a crazy chick are so popular in their own rights. I think it’s what has held me back from wanting Kaitlyn to get the championship from Layla in their match. Though her wrestling improves every match we see, a lot of people don’t want to give her that credit but she’s come along really well in a short time.

Another kinda important thing is them bringing up Natalya’s tweets about Kaitlyn. They keep going at it. As well as AJ’s comments about Kaitlyn.
It seems like they have about 3-4 feuds ready for Kaitlyn.

My guess is Eve will somehow manipulate her new assistant job to get in the match and get the belt. Which honestly defeats the purpose of the clusterfuck #1 contendorship match on RAW and Kaitlyn’s win. Since Layla is a SD Diva anyway, they could have just as easily had the match on this show and had Eve manipulate her way to victory right away.
Don’t get me wrong, I like Kaitlyn and want to see her get a shot at the belt. However, I don’t want to see an unnecessary, convoluted storyline that winds up with Eve getting ANOTHER title win with little to no build up.

I personally liked the match. Layla and Alicia provided enough action to make it not feel as short as it actually was. I think Eve will either get herself inserted into the match or at least as the special ref. The backstage segment with Booker makes me think she’s going to hook her claws into him and use him to get what she wants. And as of now, we’ve had four diva matches in a row that haven’t ended in roll-up. Hopefully that’s a trend that continues.

I really enjoyed the match. One of Alicia’s better performances and same with Layla as well. Loved Layla’s outfit too.
Kaitlyn sort of messed up on commentary though. She said “last night like she did in the battle royal” when she was supposed to say “last Monday” because smackdown is taped on Tuesday but they’re supposed to act like it is Friday.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Eve end up somehow involved in the title picture before too terribly long. If she continues to be an efficient and motivated assistant to Booker T like she was this week (making herself looked good and making Teddy look unprepared and clueless), then I can picture Booker rewarding her down the line with a title match… or giving her the power to make matches, including putting herself in a title match.

Alicia was pretty impressive this match!!! layla although she did well she just bores me and her gimmick and championship reign have been blah. She beenreally week without Michelle character wise. ( allthough part of that can be attributed to the fact that she doesn’t get much time to show her self. ) and sadly kaitlyns acting and promo skill were lack luster. It boggles my mind why Alicia hasn’t gotten another push yet

I like Kaitlyn. I find for her first real attempt at micwork on the “big” stage, she did fairly well. Her character is a sort of awkward tomboy so I think her few timing issues could even be written off as part of her sort of dorky personna.
The match was good, Layla looked great in the ring and I’m excited at the build this match and the challenger are getting. It seems like WWE is very high on Kaitlyn and with Cole pushing a ready made feud for her, not only does it seem like she is going to win the match, but have a fairly decent and lengthy reign with feuds with Nattie and Eve.
Speaking of Eve, WTF was she wearing?! Girl is gorgeous but that white sack was awful! Pairing it with the nude pumps was even worse.

Okay this is what I want to happen. Its one of those long term plans so yea. I want Eve to insert herself in the title picture and eventually win it from Lay. Lay and her feud over it for a bit. Then, something happens and AJ isnt RAW GM anymore (sad, I know) so she goes straight into a title feud with Eve. This sets up Eve vs AJ at Wrestlemania in NYC/NJ and have AJ win her first title at Mania in her hometown.

I love Layla and Alicia but lets be honest it wasnt a great match. There were a series of roll ups, Alicia working on Laylas leg, and a few kicks on Laylas part. I thought something was off the match didnt flow and looked too rehearsed. I think they could have done better. It kinda seemed like they were just going through the motions.

For the first time in like forever, I was happy to see that they came up with a storyline that involves more than 1-2 divas.
I liked the commentary (even it was cut off at times) because it involved Nattie and AJ, building the storyline up and around several divas at the same time.
Heard also that Nattie and Kaitlyn are having a tweeter war. :p
So we are having the following at the moment:
- AJ tries to get close to Kaitlyn to build up their friendships again while Kaitlyn is quite cautious because of AJs weird behaviour
- Nattie throws “insults” towards Kaitlyn “hating” her on tweeter like 24/7 saying she doesn’t deserve the title opportunity and that herself should have her hands on the title instead of Kaitlyn
- Eve trying to get friends with Layla and Kaitlyn so she can manipulate them and turn them on each other so she can grab the title for herself (when two are fighting the third gets the prize?)
- Layla and Kaitlyn showing respect for each other and a solid friendship
Must also say that this match with the commentary and the build up along with the battle royal got tons more posivite comments on youtube than any other divas match for a VERY long time now.
