This week on Friday Night SmackDown, #1 contender for the Divas Championship, Kaitlyn goes head to head with her social networking rival, Natalya in singles action. Not to be left out, Eve Torres makes an appearance as guest commentator for the match. Will the rookie sensation come out on top once again, or will the First Lady of the Hart Dynasty pick up a much needed win? Check out the match below:
Out first is the Assistant to the General Manager, Eve, who is positively beaming as she walks down the ramp to take her place at the commentary booth. As she saunters her way to the ring, we are treated to a replay of Kaitlyn’s #1 contendership win two weeks ago on Raw. After some banter between Eve and the commentary team, a graphic promoting the next match pops up on the screen as we go into a commercial break.
Back from commercial break, Natalya and Kaitlyn are both in the ring, talking smack to each other (Twitter is serious business in Diva world). The official signals for the bell and our Diva match is underway. Kaitlyn and Natalya lock up to start things off, but Nattie muscles Kaitlyn into the ropes, forcing a break. Natalya follows up with a kick to the gut, before grounding Kaitlyn with a side headlock takedown. Kaitlyn manages to reverse the hold into a headscissors, but Natalya nips up to her feet.
Nattie tries to keep up the offense, but runs right into Kaitlyn’s boot. While Natalya is doubled over, Kaitlyn applies a side headlock to wear the third generation Diva down. Natalya fights her way out, whipping Kaitlyn across the ring, but Kaitlyn blasts her with a shoulder block, sending Nattie flying out of the ring. Kaitlyn comes charging with a baseball slide, but Natalya scouts her and slams her to the ground with a handful of hair.
Now with the upper hand, Natalya brutalizes Kaitlyn, before locking in a very unique variation of an abdominal stretch. Stuck in the middle of the ring, Kaitlyn has no choice but to fight her way out of the hold, which she does successfully. After a powerful hip toss, Kaitlyn rolls Natalya up with a school boy for a near fall. With Nattie still a bit flustered, Kaitlyn takes her down with a pretty nifty arm wringer variant, followed by a flurry of strikes. Kaitlyn tries to whip Natalya off of the ropes, but The Pink and Black Attack puts an abrupt end to her offense with a kick, followed by a viscous discus clothesline for a two count.
Frustrated, Nattie argues with the referee, giving Kaitlyn a few precious moments to collect herself. When Nattie brings her attention back to her opponent, Kaitlyn quickly rolls her up to pick up the victory. Post-match, Michael Cole and Josh Mathews reveal that Kaitlyn will get her shot at the championship in two weeks at Night of Champions, ending the segment.
Thoughts: Another short and sweet match from the blue brand this week. Nothing particularly mind-blowing, but not a bad match by any means. Week after week, Kaitlyn is showing progress and while I don’t think she’s necessarily ready for a championship spot just yet, I’m interested to see what her and Layla will bring to the table come Night of Champions in two weeks time.
The real wild card in this Layla/Kaitlyn rivalry, would have to be the one and only Eve Torres. After losing at the hands of Kaitlyn, you would think that Eve would be trying make her life a living hell, but it seems that she has turned over a new leaf. Yeah… ok… I expect to see Eve’s masterplan, whatever it may be, start coming together in the weeks leading into NOC. Mark my words, Eve will find a way to insert herself into this match, in some capacity.

I liked that there was a ”Let’s go Kaitlyn” chant.

With not being so much of a fan of Kaitlyn, and with being one of the ones bashing her when she was on NXTS3, i’ve gotta give it to her, she has improved vastly and is the current crops most improved diva. I loved the arm wrench flip over from Kaitlyn (going old school i see)
With Eve and this whole feud, I do see her being involved and this turning into a triple threat at NOC. With 2 weeks left, I expect the plan to unfold so expect alot of diva action over the next 2 weeks.
And to think.. I actually believed the rumor about Triple H putting the divas even more on the back burner. That’s certainly not true as the divas have been consistent for the past 5 weeks.

When have the Divas and the championship ever been this irrelevent? They even had Vickie, for no reason, come out on Raw and basically say no one cares about the Divas, and Layla, the champion, was booked to just take it without getting payback. Not only that but when they cut to Vickie yawning out of boredom, Michael Cole said “She’s not the only one.” If that doesn’t tell you what WWE thinks of the Divas, I don’t know what will.

Eve Is The Savior Of The Divas Division!! :)
I Mean When She Got Appointed Booker T Assistant, They Started Focusing On The Divas Division. & When Eve Was On Commentary, She Only Talked About The Divas Division Getting Better. Thought I Would Never Say This But…Keep It Up WWE! :)

Good match nothing too special just some good inring action. I feel like kaitlyn is still very gree in the ring and Natalya carried her well and i think kaitlyn and Layla can have a good match.
Im very intrested to see where this whole storyline with Eve is going…im almost positive that she will enter the match at NOC.

wow body image has changed so much in the wwe , for most of the diva era we allways got two thin women in the ring but now we have beautiful real curvy women in the ring which i think is great

You predicted that? Um, weird. Get a life, one that doesn’t involve taking silly shots at HB or myself.
By the way, the forum is back up. So get on guys!

Nice and hard hitting match! Not slaps and hairpuls and being girly. Both girls meant business and I liked it! :)
Had to laugh when Nattie had Kaitlyn in the headlock on the floor keeping talking about respect and family when Kaitlyn all of sudden put her hand on Natties mouth like “oh shut up already!”. :p
Eve was gorgeous and Nattie was fierce!
Can’t wait to see what comes next and I really hope that the storyline will continue with all 4 girls being involved.

Is the roll up Kaitlyn’s finisher? btw, this is Kaitlyn’s first singles victory on the main roster.

If you’re going to face one of Extreme Expose for the title, it’s best you know the move that won Kelly and Brooke Championships. :)

I think Kaitlyn should use power moves. The girl is strong and she should display her strenght.

Honestly out of all the divas kaitlyn has the most potential to be the next trish stratus imo.

I hate when people are looking to make these women the next Lita or Chyna or whomever, the WWE brass and the diva fans need to understand that there will never be those women again and they need to focus on how to make them stars and we the fans on their merit and overall ability.
at
People let’s give Kaitlyn a chance and see what she can do. Trish Stratus wasn’t that good and she improved. Also look at Brooke Tessmacher she improved and I think Kaitlyn will improve.

If Kaitlyn is going to be a future diva’s champion she’s definitely going to need a new theme song. Not that I don’t like because in a weird way I do but if your going to be a champion your theme song shouldn’t be about playing spin the bottle:/
Looking Glass Reply:

I agree and disagree, I think there’s a better theme for her but in the little that Kaitlyn’s been given to do she’s always described as the ‘girl next door’ on commentary (even though her physique is so much more powerful than most of those types) her humour is often naive and immature i.e. the robot dance and her random comments on NXT. A.J. was the dorky tomboy and Kaitlyn was the ‘hybrid’ klutzy but strong character so the whole Spinning the Bottle theme fits her immature persona.

Personally I’m not a fan of most of these diva’s themes.

NOC and Extreme Rules are always pretty good Diva wise. NOC because of the stipulation it means that WWE are forced to put some effort into the division and throughout the years I just think the storylines have been there for the matches themselves and also, I find they often allow new girls a chance for some reason. E.R. is similiar in that extent and it puts out more noteworthy matches/events , Beth/Melina’s I Quit, Michelle/Layla, Kharma entrance, Layla return and Bellas exit etc.
at
I’m not really impressed with Kaitlyn. She has improved but I just don’t feel her moveset or her delivery. But I don’t really care that she’s getting pushed, or even if she wins the title. This wouldn’t be the first time a diva who isn’t ready won a title.
at
Kaitlyn is so freaking cute. I hope her and Layla have a great match.
at
it totally feels like they are to crown kaitlyn as the next divas champion. seems unlikely layla will retain. it seems this push for kaitlyn has happened to get the belt on her im afraid. who am i to say kaitlyn is not ready as i know she has potential but it seems too soon if she won. Now im jumping the gun a little here, however if Kaitlyn did win i hope she feuds with either Tamina or Natalya. It would be sweet to see Tamina win her first championship title (her father never won any in the wwe), whilst Nattie as heel champ would somewhat be different and enjoying to see.
at
If Kaitlyn does win the title I don’t see her losing it to anyone other than AJ.
Its just way too obvious to pass up.
at
Thing is I have faith that Kaitlyn could be a good champ, but it’s all how WWE portrays her that really matters. As someone pointed out above ^ A theme song “spin the bottle” isn’t really a building foundation for future divas champ.
Personally though I don’t know who I’d pin the belt on out of the whole divas locker room. You couldn’t just give the belt to Nattie because you’d need to undo a whole lot of damage to her character first.
at
I’m pretty much expecting Kaitlyn to win the title at NOC. Most of the focus has been on her and teasing potential feuds for her, whereas Layla’s practically an afterthought. And frankly, Layla’s title reign has gone absolutely nowhere, so they might as well have Kaitlyn win it. She might not be ready for it, but just the fact that they seem to want to do stuff with Kaitlyn right now would make her a step up at this point.

Kaitlyn reminds me of Tori (not Torrie Wilson, TORI… As in DX Tori from the attitude era), which is kind of a good and bad thing. B/c every diva whose looked like or reminded me of Tori was/is beautiful, but has SUCKED in the ring (i.e. Jackie Gayda). WWE needs to realize there are some divas that you just can’t remake. And is it me, or is Natalya getting the Victoria treatment by training lesser divas week after week?
at
no offense but kaitlyn in my opinion isnt ready for a championship spot… she still needs to improve.. and i won’t deny it.. she has improved a LOT but she still needs some since she looks awkward in some spots..
at
LOL at the crowd edited in its so horrible…im meant to believe that a simple faceplant will get that kind of reaction….
i did like kaitlyns arm drag version she did but she is very boring to watch but i do like that shes can do more than power moves….
so kaitlyn might get the title over tamina & so on when tamina can get the crowd behind her more than katiyln can….
