Hello everyone. Last night’s episode of Raw was certainly not what we expected, and I’ll just get it out of the way early on that I’m so happy to hear Jerry Lawler’s condition has stabilized and he is doing okay. And major kudos to all the men and women who were able to perform following the terrifying situation, especially Michael Cole. That was not easy to watch, so I can’t even imagine the feelings having to be out there as they were but each and every one of them did phenomenal and should be extremely proud.
Now for the Diva portion of this week’s show, we had a six Diva tag team match pitting the trio of Eve Torres, Kaitlyn, and Layla against Beth Phoenix, Natalya, and Alicia Fox. Yes, you read that right. Now without any further ado, let’s get underway.
We head to the ring as the music of our Divas Champ hits and out walk she, Kaitlyn, and Eve. The odd trio heads down the ramp and into the ring, with Eve seeming a bit extra perky tonight as she has been lately. Soon after comes the music of the Glamazon, who I’m personally happy to see back. She, Natalya, and in what is even more odd than the other team, Alicia Fox, walk out. (I guess Fox getting her hoodie in black signifies her allegiance to the dark side.) Once in the ring, the bell sounds and we get underway. Kaitlyn and Beth start off with Kaitlyn taking the advantage using a waistlock. Beth backs her in the corner, but Kaitlyn reverses it and continues to take control.
Kaitlyn is then sent into the opposing corner, where she flies back with a nice clothesline. She follows it up with a shoulder tackle, but Natalya tags in and smacks her upside the head. The Divas of Doom take Kaitlyn down, with Nattie smacking her once again. Kaitlyn ducks a clothesline, but Alicia kicks her in the back and Natalya keeps the advantage on her side. Fox tags in and hits a nice northern lights suplex for a two count, but she misses a kick in the corner and in comes Layla. Layla with a running facebuster and a spin kick, as she flies off with a crossbody in the corner. Alicia sends her off the ropes, but Eve blind tags herself in and drops Alicia with the neckbreaker for the victory. Kaitlyn and Layla look confused again, as Eve celebrates as if she just won the lottery!

Thoughts: Honestly, critiquing anything isn’t really my concern right now and I’m sure the commenters will say everything on my mind probably better than I could if I tried at the moment. I’ll just say that much like every week since Raw has gone to three hours, I enjoyed the match tonight. Everyone got tagged in and performed solidly opposite one another. I like where they’re going with the Eve thing because it leaves me guessing what she could do next and what her intentions are behind this newfound persona. Tonight’s match was a nice advancement by teaming her up with Layla and Kaitlyn, and I definitely hope to see more in the future. Oh, and it was really great to see Beth Phoenix back in action. I’ve missed her performances on Raw over the past few weeks and her work with Kaitlyn left me craving a singles match between them.

Kaitlyn looks like she is ready to go for a swim. :/ Sometimes, her ring attires are just so questionable…

Lol, worst diva attire EVER that one was, but I still like Tamina though:)

Solid little match. I know a lot of people weren’t too crazy about Alicia flip flopping on the heel side again but with Eve playing buddy buddy with Layla and Kaitlyn, they needed someone on the heel side and they don’t seem interested in using Rosa or Aksana very much for TV matches. I am expecting Eve to have some sort of role in the match on Sunday, whether it be being put in the match or as a special refereee. Either way though, I see her snatching up the title for herself in the very near future.

I loved everything, I love where their going with Eve. Kaitlyn has become less boring and Beth was back!…. The only thing is Alicia magically turning heel overnight.. – Dislike

Really? I think Kaitlyn showed 10 times the enthusiasm on NXT Redemption just wrestling Tamina and Maxine, week-in and week-out. She’s been a real bore for this being the biggest opportunity they’ve thrown her since NXT Season Three.

They aren’t giving her anything to do.
Her and Layla are just meant to be confused at whatever Eve does. They’re not even bothering with character for the two in the title match.

Layla was able to show some character on commentary last week and was quite emphatic with saying she thought Eve was a phony. And the Backstage Fallout stuff not only shows them as confused but also makes them seem more like “Okay Eve, you REALLY need to get away from us”.

I think Layla has managed to get her bubbly, fun-loving character out there in any opportunity she’s given and even stressed on commentary that she doesn’t trust Eve, like redsandman99 added. Kaitlyn has just been kinda… there. No crowd interactions, or anything that would make you exactly root for her or get behind her to win come Sunday. It’s like her character is limited to one emotion: confused.

I think part of the problem is the “quirky” personality Kaitlyn developed on NXT is not really one that can easily be translated inside the ring. It’s kind of one that goes over better in segments. I think she does need to like interact with the crowd more or something if she’s not going to get a chance to talk on TV. Do something more to stand out.

They dropped the ball with face Alicia Fox. I remember earlier in the year she was winning matches left and right which seemed like a push but then suddenly became a jobber once again. Now she is just unexplainable heel and now will be a jobber even more. Unless she gets a push as a heel

They didn’t drop the ball on her, necessarily. She did need more time to develop. She was two for two in injuring and nearly injuring her opponents the month she got her push as a babyface. I believe she even put Beth out for a couple weeks with her somersault leg drop after also clipping Natalya on the forehead on SmackDown the week before. Don’t get me wrong, I love Fox but at the time she wasn’t ready; especially when the matches were basically rushed to a 45 second limit – her push was a recipe for disaster had it continued any further.
Everyone has their time to shine and hers will come again, eventually. She is still the youngest Diva to hold the championship yet.

lol Alicia’s never actually gotten a proper heel turn. both times she’s just shown up on the heel side with no explanation

the match felt short to me yet im happy with it each girl had a moment to shine plus this story with eve is going further
cant wait for smackdown and to see what happens sunday

Now that I think about it, I don’t think Alicia was a heel she simply switched teams with the heel Eve for the storyline to develop a little more! but this Friday, I hope Eve is announced as being added to the match on Sunday or at least I’ll compromise with her as special guest referee! Also, I hope Tamina starts doing more again soon because she’s improved noticeably in the last year and I miss seeing her Samoan style of wrestling on the main roster!

Yeah, that’s my same thought. I don’t think Alicia is a heel now. I also agree on Tamina, that super kick spot in the battle royal on Alicia was SICK. I’d like to see her get into the division, like I said in a later post it should have been Tamina in the tag match not Alicia.

Loved it. The whole having a storyline instead of just matches is amazing :)

It’d be kind of weird and stupid for Eve’s plan, whatever it is, to go off without any setback.
Its just way too obvious. No one’s buying the act.

Come to think of it, fox being on the heel team isn’t odd, they’ve done it for a reason. Obviously Eve is trying to get on their good sides so maybe Fox just had to pair with them – she doesn’t have to like them obv and everyone knows fox and nat have wrestled tons at house shows recently, but this is just me guessing a story because wwe doesn’t like to provide us with a reason you see

Also – kaitlyn needs to burn those all in one suit things a girl with her figure shouldn’t have to hide it! And Layla neeeeeds to leave that weave in the locker room, it looks like a mane

lmao I was going to post about Layla’s hair as well, its just too much and it looks completely fake. Plus I’ve read on other sites ppl think it makes her head look too big for her body. I’m not a fan of the hair.

I loved the bit where AJ is looking at the divas match. Remember how she told Eve that she would show her how to get attention? I finally start to have faith again in the womens division storyline wise!

May I say, I like alot about the match…. Kaitlyn’s hair looks better straight, I love Alicia’s new attire, but not that they just suddenly turned her heel (hmm, maybe a push soon?). I absolutely, no doubt, love what they’re doing with Eve! Good match… cant wait for Sunday!

I don’t think it’s a heel turn, Eve is still technically a heel, and she was on a team with two face partners. So they decided to put Foxy on the Heel team. If you watch their entrance, she was blowing kisses to to some of the fans. (I don’t think many heels do that. Unless they’re mocking the audience)

You’re right… It was a bit misleading though… I read tonights superstar spoilers, and Natalya vs Alicia….. I think Alicia is still face

I liked the match, it was kind of short but not bad and it served it’s purpose with Eve winning for the babyfaces. However, I think they would have been better off putting Tamina on the heel team. It would have made a whole lot more sense then randomly throwing Alicia in there. Have Nattie or Tammy take the fall from Eve and everything would have been honky dory.
at
Give the way AJ was looking at the match and how she talked about Booker T interrupting her, it would be nice if Kaitlyn, Eve or Layla have a match on Smackdown and then in the end of it AJ appears and decides to turn the title match into a triple thread just to pay Booker for showing up on Raw when she was about to punish Sheamus. They could also use this as a later example to ‘fire’ both GMs, but this is WWE, so I’m probably just dreaming.
at
Yeah I’m sure now Eve will be the next divas champion. Once I saw Eve teaming up with Layla and Kaitlyn, I knew she was gonna steal the pin for her team. WWE is so predictable….
Alicia’s hair and attire was on point for the first time in a long long long long time.

Yea it’s because they made her a heel again for this layla eve and Kaitlin story, so that it can look like everyone else Is jealous of layla.
And since she is a heel, her attire looks evil
But she is better as a baby face, but they like to change people
Without a story

I think Alicia is best as a heel. Her face run pretty much failed in my opinion.
She needs to keep this hair and look from now on, it really looks great on her.

I love you, Alicia Fox!
That is all.
at
Wow….9 divas on raw.. Impressed Nattie Beth Alicia Eve Kaitlyn Layla Vickie AJ and Aksana too!
Really great seeing them be cared for !

If you guys get a chance watch the Raw Backstage Fallout of this week it has more Eve, Kaitlyn, and Layla.
at
The match was good for what it was and every girl got the opportunity to be part of it instead of letting like two people play it all before one gets pinned while the others just rush against each other to “fight” in the outside just before the pin or the finisher takes place.
Also liked the storytelling and progression (the fallout after was great to say the least) placing a heel in the face team and a face in the heel team only to have the face getting pinned by the heel at the end, while the heel takes away the champions and number one contenders momentum away.
I think they will either let Layla retain at sunday and still be friends with Kaitlyn while Eve works her way to the title OR she interferes somehow to Kaitlyns favor cause she thinks she can beat her easily after she won over her twice.
Through this Kaitlyn would be probably like a champion for a week before she drops the title to Eve (which would be a very bad move in my opinion cause it wouldn’t add to the title but rather take away from it) OR maybe champion for a month with either a heel turn involved or not.
Of course they could make it so that after Kaitlyn wins through Eves interference, Layla turns heel saying that Kaitlyn and Eve planned everything this way behind her back while Kaitlyn is trying desperately to explain that this is not the case.
Many opportunities no matter what way they are going if Kaitlyn indeed wins the title cause it would be much easier to involve Natalya in the whole thing additionaly with Beth and Alicia not far away either.
Then Tamina could come to Kaitlyns aid additionaly and AJ could try to backup Kaitlyn in the process aswell.

The match wasn’t bad, I suppose that Kaitlyn is a curveball and a nod to the impact that AJ/Bryan/Punk had and still has. I get that. I’d have Eve as the clear executive heel, teamed up with whoever is trying to get AJ out (Vickie? The “Board”? A cell phone? LOL…), AJ as the tweener that is too new to it and things get complicated etc etc . . . and Layla as your face who dances and fights with heel commentators and so on and so forth.
Can WWE pull that off without introducing a random person and then giving them the Full Jericho by making them a bystander to their first sniff at the belt?
Of course not. They’re so incompetent. They didn’t even capitalize on the heat they got from Layla and Miz just going off on each other. Of course, this is a WWE that lets Kong and The Beautiful People sit out there as free agents, doesn’t always book Divas for full programs and seems to think its better to shrink their time window than expand it.
at
I didn’t MIND the match. I’m glad they are giving us something to look forward to so it’s kinda hard to bitch but we all will to some extent. :)
I hate Layla’s big ass weave, it just looks too heavy for her IMO. I also don’t like that attires color she has on, but whatever. I loved Alicia’s dark purple. I also love Natalya’s jacket/coat/whatever you wanna call it lol
They totally dropped the ball with Beth, or any of the diva’s we haven’t seen much of in a while.
I remember the days when a diva was missing she’d show up and help another diva or run in and beat someone up and hold the title up. They never do anything like that anymore and I wish they would. It would establish heels and faces a lot more clearly and would get fans more invested when a diva returns instead of people not caring at all.
