Two days after the devastating September 11th terrorist attacks, the WWE went back to work, putting on an episode of SmackDown that served as a tribute to those affected by the tragedy. One of the most memorable moments of the night came courtesy of New York resident Lilian Garcia, who performed a tearful rendition of America’s national anthem while the WWE roster stood on the stage and entrance ramp. The event marked the first live sporting event since 9/11, with Lilian delivering the nation’s first post-9/11 anthem.

being a resident of NYC watching that nights episode did make thoughts go away for a couple hours the wwe did me right

That morning I was headed to school Hillcrest High School in Queens, and then string to class, I heard the news that in the city an airplane had crashed, we turn on the TV and I see another airplane and I couldn’t process the image of it crashing into the tower.. Seriously it was like slow motion and I couldn’t process it even after it exploded on live TV o.0
I didn’t loose any family members or friends as they weren’t around the city Thank God, but many were very upset. I wasn’t upset but overall I felt confused, then figuring out it was a terrorist attack I was just like brainless. And when I finally figured out what was going on I ran out of school, hopped the fence and tried to track down my mom dad and siblings since there was rumor of two more rogue airplanes. Scary shit for sure. Next day was back to normal though but with a huge hole in NYC nothing like it man :/
