On this day in history:

September 14th, 2009 | Trish Stratus retired from the WWE in 2006, but like any WWE mainstay, she periodically made return appearances. In the 2009 flurry of guest Raw GMs, Trish served as General Manager when the show came to her hometown of Toronto. Most notably, she got into it with Beth Phoenix, who she later faced in two Intergender Tag Team matches, the second being ordered by Trish after the first ended in a No Contest. The GM won the second match for her team, sealing victory with a Stratusfaction to Beth.

I loved that match. Even Kelly Kelly looked decent in it! Best of all, it was one if the few times Gail Kim was portrayed as a top level diva:)

The match was Gail VS Alica for the number one contender to face Mickie in Hell in a cell

  2. Poor beth i wish she won & this lead to a short rivalry or something….trish didn’t even get a good reaction in her own hometown…..

Really? Trish got a damn good reaction, even if you don’t think her reaction was good enough it was still louder then any Layla or a current Diva besides Kelly gets. As for Beth losing i heard Trish wanted Beth to win but storyline and Vince said other wise to push MVP and Henry as a team.

  3. Funny how Beth never seemed to remember this!!! :/

  4. Funny how Beth never seemed to remember helping Trish out before this!!! :/

This was the night I realized that WWE values Trish far more than the fans actually do. It was shocking how dead the Toronto crowd was for her. And no, the brown hair doesn’t really explain it, since her first intro got no pop either. And with each appearance she makes, the crowd seems to remember her less and less. I really believe Trish would be better off not showing up anymore. She’s definitely got some popularity and exposure outside of wrestling, but it’s not translating on WWE TV anymore.

And before any of her zealous fans think I’m bashing her, watch her run from last year and tell me I’m wrong. Oh, Lita fans better not gloat, either, because I had the same realization after watching her on Raw 1000.

That’s with all legends mick foley, austin, undertaker and the rocks reactions are nothing compared to what they used to be in the attitude era.

Rock, Undertaker, and Austin still seem pretty popular to me. Yeah, they don’t get late 90s reactions, but nobody does anymore. I agree that Mick Foley’s reactions are sad to see. The thing with Trish is she actually gets more hype from WWE than Foley does. But maybe you can blame the fall of the diva division on her lack of reaction. I still say she would be better served staying away. Random cameos that only a fraction of the audience cares about does neither party good.

Trish getting no reaction is a reflection of the WWE fan and Trish’s appeal. Majority of the fans that watched Trish in her prime have outgrown wrestling and move to different programming. Trish’s appeal has reached as far at is going to reach. If she were to return she would not bring anything new to the table. In her last run in 2011 she was boring every time she comes back, it’s just to add another win under her belt. That is another reason why some fans stopped reacting to Trish.

I really kind of hoped that Trish would be the sort of person to come back and put people over for the sake of helping the division rather than coming back because it benefits her. Everytime we see Trish on WWE programming she always wants to try to push her yoga studio in subtle ways. We are at that point were if Trish ever comes back, she is so untouched thats she doesnt need a win.. in fact a win would only cause resentment, a loss would actually benefit her more in this case because its a big deal and it leaves the door open for something in future while you have just created buzz around two new stars. Trish was given a great honor in winning her last match and that rarely happens in wrestling. She had the storybook ending and is WWE’s trophy diva. What else does she have to gain by being on tv and wrestling different divas. If she wants to be on WWE then she should try to be the diva ambassador or play a speaking role like Bret Hart and Roddy Piper.

I don’t think Trish even wants to be on WWE TV anymore. It’s just McMahon throwing money at her once or twice a year. He’s doing it with Rock and Lesnar, too, so I’m not going to blame her for taking advantage. The thing is, those two guys are still draws for WWE, and Trish really isn’t, so it’s not mutually beneficial for both sides. Now she has teased working angles with numerous divas, like Beth, Natalya, and Kharma, but it’s never materizlized. Whether that is because WWE rejects her ideas or she isn’t sincere, I have no idea.

What Trish got a good reaction.

Blue jay your not a Trish fan are you? Trish last run was not boring and well she did lose to Vickie Guerrero right? Trish wants to put people over always have but it not up to her plus the Mania match in 2011 was to put Snookie over hint why she got the pin. I will always be a Trish fan win or lose and she is if not the all time greatest diva she is one of the all time greatest diva in wwe history.

  6. Trish looks amazing, regardless of hair colour.

    Loved her guest host stint.

I trust that today’s main Diva story answers any questions about why Trish & Lita are the go to Diva legends?

I can’t stand Sunny, but that’s a bad comparison. If she could work a match they would have had her back at some point in the past decade.
