The WWE Divas Title is on the line tonight at Night of Champions as Layla defends against the rookie, Kaitlyn. Can she defeat the veteran Diva Search winner for the championship? And what role will Eve Torres play in the match?
The Diva Dirt team weighs in:
Bobby: I’m so excited for this match. I don’t even care how the build up has been, but I’m just excited period that Kaitlyn is getting an opportunity. She shined on NXT Redemption , and it’s nice to see her getting a reward down the road. This is the biggest match of my… I mean, her life and I strongly hope she somehow does end up winning. I’m not sure if I think she’s going to necessarily win or not based on how things have been going with Eve getting a lot of focus, but I feel like if I predict against her she will for sure lose so my vote goes to Kaitlyn. What can I say? I’m insanely superstitious…
Cryssi: For some reason it seems to me that this match will have some type of swerve and that might not necessarily be a bad idea. I’m not sure what type of match Kaitlyn and Layla can put on together, but I’m open-minded and willing to sit back and leave it be if that’s what’s written in the stars. I think we can all agree Eve will assert herself in some capacity, but I would rather it not be randomly in the match, giving her another random victory. So with all that rambling, I think Layla will win the match and will move to feud with Eve. If Eve gets in the match, then Eve will walk out as champion. Personally, I think Kaitlyn should have the belt. Is there a hashtag option for “all three”?
Erin: This is kind of hard to predict, since Eve is playing the wild card and we don’t really know what she’s going to do. I think it comes down to what best suits the plan she’s hatching. Hell, I’m just going to pull a swerve and say that neither Layla or Kaitlyn wins. Eve will somehow get this match turned into a triple threat and she will walk out Night of Champions with the belt.
Jake: I see Eve winning this somehow. I know what you’re thinking… Jake, she’s not in the match. I have a feeling all the games she’s been playing and “change of attitude” will see Booker T placing her in his making it a triple threat. Eve will walk out champ.
Katelyn: I literally can’t remember anything from Layla’s title run aside from her win (sadly) so I’m going to pick Kaitlyn. Also, she has a cool name.
Melanie: Firstly, WWE has done a pretty decent job building up this feud — obviously, there’s still room for improvement, but this match has had more emphasis on it on Raw and SmackDown than any other Divas Title match this year. Of course, the most intriguing factor is neither Kaitlyn, nor Layla, but Eve Torres. A lot of different theories are out there about what might happen (for example, Eve being a last minute addition and winning the match), but I’m of the mindset that Layla will retain due to interference from Eve, thus costing Kaitlyn the match and showing her true colors after playing nice for the past few weeks.
Steven: Normally, I would say that WWE is ready to pull the trigger on Kaitlyn. For the past few weeks since becoming #1 contender, WWE has really pushed her as a solid contender for the Divas Title. That being said, there is a wild card in this match to consider… Eve Torres. Eve has had her issues with both Layla and Kaitlyn in the past, so I fully expect her to interject herself in this match, and possibly cost Kaitlyn her shot at the title. Expect Layla to pick up the win tonight over Kaitlyn, but not by pinfall.

Ugh, if Eve does end up as champ I’m gonna be pissed unless they follow it up with something strong. Honestly, the title holder doesn’t really matter at this point, the belt needs to feel important. Sadly, I feel an Eve win may be the only way that would happen as she and AJ seem to be the only two who get anything good.

If it was me I would have Eve cost Layla the title but not actually have it be a triple threat match yet. Eve’s beaten Kaitlyn twice recently I think she would totally try to mainpulate the situation so she can face her for the ttile instead of Layla. It’s WWE though so I think they’ll put Eve in the match at the last minute and she’ll sneak her way to victory.

I really don’t see Kaitlyn winning the title before Aj. Besides if Kaitlyn wins the title I would like it to have a meaning instead of just being a holder. Even though everyone will flip if Eve gets in the match and win I think that’s the best move. I really don’t know what Layla and Kaitlyn do together. Putting Eve in at least will help it flow. After Eve pinned Kaitlyn on Raw I knew she will somehow be involved in this match.

I think Eve will ‘accidentally’ cost one of them the match, making the other turn heel. Probably Layla. If not Layla will win and move on to fued with Eve where she eventually drop the title *sigh*

I really don’t think Kaitlyn has any chance of walking out with the belt. It’s crystal clear that Eve will be the next Divas champ, and sooner rather than later. My guess is she’ll be inserted into the match tonight and win.

I’m going with Kaitlyn. Here’s why:
The WWE makes everyone think Kaitlyn won with a botch, thus making everyone expect her to lose. Then BAM they surprise everyone with a win for Kaitlyn.

Prediction One:
Kaitlyn wins the match cleanly, Eve then appears and announces she has been granted a title match right now, runs down, easily pins Kaitlyn who gets a Jillian Hall title run while Eve goes on to feud with other Divas (I hope this doesn’t happen!)
Prediction Two (fantasy)
Kaitlyn wins the match, afterwards Eve comes out to ‘congratulate’ her when Layla flips and attacks Kaitlyn, Eve acts shocked before joining when LITA’s music hits and she runs out, saving Kaitlyn and giving the new champion some support and interest

Katelyn, it’s not fair to say that you don’t remember anything that has happened in Layla’s reign. Imo, she’s had a decent reign as champion and a win here will further that.
She had a feud with Beth, had matches against Natalya, AJ, and Aksana, as well as be featured in backstage segments with Cody, Booker, AJ, Mae Young, Mae Young’s hand-child. That was all before Kaitlyn won the battle royal a month ago, and of course since then her reign has been great. There have been a few weeks where she was off tv but I feel like this storyline is making up for that.
True, she hasn’t had very many storylines, necessarily, but she’s getting into one now, and imo her reign isn’t close to being over. I think she’s gonna win against Kaitlyn, get another notch under her belt then feud with Eve for a month or two then lose the title.

I am gonna put it like this.
KAITLYN IS GONNA WIN AND TURN HEEL!…if anyone has been paying even the most remote of attention to this build…especially the lastest backstage fallout , you know this is highly likely if not guaranteed.
EVE putting herself into the match would be the stupidest thing her character would do..why would she do that and drastically lower her chances of winning?
EVE has been beaten kaitlyn before..so whats the best way to ensure herself getting the title? by MANIPULATING one of the competitors..specifically the one she can beat….and the scenario plays out like so.
EVE and Kaitlyn conspire to screw Layla out of her title tonight…EVE then cashes in the I.O.U from helping Kaitlyn in…she gets a title shot on a raw or smackdown..she then steals the title from kaitlyn..thus sets in course not only a triple threat feud…but then can break to EVE Vs Layla..on the basis that EVE never beat Layla for the title..and Layla can be the chaser before getting it back at the royal rumble.

Think of it like when HBK turned on Hogan he only turned heel for that feud , and plus it plays into the scenario of turning Layla and Kaitlyn against one another while EVE sits in the background with the title playing puppetter.

Layla has beaten all challengers has no reason to turn and even less to gain by turning heel…why? BECAUSE SHE IS ALREADY THE CHAMPION!.

I think WWE is setting Kaitlyn up as the top face in the division, thats why, and they aren’t going to turn her heel, even for a short bit.
It seems like between Kaitlyn and Layla they’ve done more to get Kaitlyn cheered, and they aren’t going to ruin it.

I’m not going to predict a winner for tonight, but I do think that whoever wins will probably just be holding the title until they put it on Eve. She’s gotten as much/more attention in this story line than the champion and challenger have… The WWE seems to have plans for Eve. If she doesn’t somehow end up in the match tonight, I still think she’ll likely be the champion before Hell in a Cell rolls around next month.
As far as we know, Eve doesn’t have the power to make matches herself, plus abusing her power would undermine her current ‘playing nice’ act, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Booker T give Eve a title shot as a reward for her work as his assistant – remember, he’s been shown to be impressed/happy with her work at least a couple of times now.

That’s what I see happening, I don’t think she’ll drop the “nice girl” act so soon. She’s going to continue to manipulate Booker T and Layla/Kaitlyn until she becomes champion. Then I expect her to reveal her true colors afterward.

This may sound strange but one of the reasons I look forward to diva’s ppv matches is that there’s always a high possibility of the girls debuting new ring attire:) but onto the match. I like both Layla and Kaitlyn, but the fact that the match lacks a heel still seems a bit odd to me because since when does wwe do ppv diva’s title matches were there’s no heel involved. I kind of want Kaitlyn to win because it seems wwe want to do more with her in the long run opposed to Layla! If Eve however, is insert into the match somehow she’ll definitely win since they’ve been strongly teasing Eve tricking both Layla and Kaitlyn, but Layla and Kaitlyn have been on full guard against Eve the whole time and going by that logic wouldn’t let Eve take the title from either of them. Plus, Eve win would seem extremely predictable simply based on how the storyline has been so far. There’s always the possibility of Eve being in cahoots with either Kaitlyn or Layla thus turning one of them heel in the process. This would probably be the best option to go with because it would be unpredictable and would add a much needed new dimension to the storyline because it would create 2 stronger heel divas(which the division could really benefit from right now), and it would give the one who is still face a stronger potential resolve too thus creating a stronger top face diva as well.

I feel like Layla’s gonna win just so she looks strong going into her eventual feud with Eve. Honestly, I wouldn’t be suprised if Kaityln was “mysteriously” attacked backstage so she couldn’t compete toningt. If Eve doesn’t interject herself in this match somehow, Layla’s gonna win, and Kaitlyn will go back to NXT just like Tamina did when everyone thought she was gonna take the belt off Beth when she had it.
